So it was another crazy day with the Surepost and everything else. Monday start time is now 0115, because of Surepost and the 10 or so hold trailers of closed school and business stuff that’s been building up the last 2 weeks. And the heat was out when I got home. It’s fixed now, but visions of burst pipes flashed in my head.
Yay!

Problem solved! And {{{{BBBoo}}}}
Most of my merino wool clothing is from Smartwool, although GoBros dot com appears to buy Smartwool products at wholesale and generally discounts them. That’s where 2 of my merino wool bras came from. I did buy one directly from Smartwool when they put it on sale.
Matter of fact, there is nuthin in there, and I noticed yesterday there were no other footprints in the snow, so I think something may be delaying local delivery.
Normally there’d be bills, junk mail, something by now.
My ear is better. I could actually hear on that side when I got up today, and my balance is back to (Parkinson’s) normal. We’re getting the new furnace on Monday, so nephew Corey lent us a heater to get us through the install day. It’s 20F out there now, with snow now and then. I have Yaktrax for my feet, but I’m gonna get a retractable spiky cane tip. I don’t want to stay indoors ALL winter. We watched a couple of eps of Kleo on Netflix, and Mrs. Nott said, “Nope, too weeeird.” Shoe, I useta be a fair-to-middlin’ pool player, but my cue disappeared in the move. Coppertone, “Online onboarding” sounds like some kind of surfing. Paintcharge, I used to laugh at my dad’s answer to plumbing problems, “Call somebody.” Now, I think he had it figured out.
Or they would if I didn’t use an umbrella. I understand that using a bumbershoot marks me as a newcomer. I don’t care. Umbrellas were invented for a reason, people. Also, the folks who’ve said that to me are people who drive everywhere.
OK, people, I’m going to 'fess right up: I’m really worried about JtC. It’s not like her to go this long without updating unless she’s traveling, and she wouldn’t be doing that with her husband having had surgery, right? Those who are on the Book of Faces, has anyone (family or friends) posted something that indicates what’s going on?
Flyboy, a belated Happy Dope-iversary. I’m not much of a noticer–just ask Oopsie and Abe Lincoln–but I always enjoy reading your posts and am glad you’re here.
VanGo, I’m impressed you were able to fix the plumbing issue so fast. May that be the last of the irksome stuff.
Boo, those who’ve had cataract surgery can back me up on this: it’s not like you might be envisioning it. (Oy. Sorry.) Once they load you up on eyedrops–mydriatics and anesthetics and numbing gel–you can’t see much. Then you’re under the OR light, and honestly, you can’t see hands or anything coming toward your eye. For me, it’s like a lustrous mist. You’re nice and relaxed from the IV sedatives, and 10-15 minutes later, they’re wheeling you out to a brighter, more colorful world.
wordy, so glad the surgery went smoothly! Do you have any restrictions or can you go right to bench-prssing Sumo wrestlers, should the urge arise?
coppertone, I hope the job works out and that you can pay your rent soon. Did you buy the strawberries?
Egad! Time is flying! I’d best get out the do’ and to the sto’ before it starts getting dark.
I don’t know what name she’d be using on FB. I do have an RL email address (message sent, no reply yet) and a phone number dating back to 2023 (haven’t used it, since I don’t know the name I’d be asking for and that could get very awkward) for her.
If I were to drop off the map, a couple of people here have my contact info and those on Buddy’s Facebook group could find me easily enough.
I’m also concerned, but I’m inclined to advise waiting. She’ll come back when she can, and if it’s not a good time, she doesn’t need anyone else bugging her.
I did get strawberries! 3 16 oz. Containers for 3$. Not a bad one in the bunch.
Day 14. The cough is less often, and the gunkiness is gone but residual weakness is around.
Had to walk to the corner store in 22 degrees, feeling neglected. No one would ever consider driving me. I’ve always felt like an outcast, been shunned most of my life, my son inherited that too.
This has really been bothering me most of the week. Like, really bothering me. I believe I remember her saying that she is not on FB, but that just her husband is on it.
I’m of a divided sense right now. Part of me agrees with what FCM said, but the other part of me wants to do something.
I’m just going to sit and wait some more because, yeah, I don’t want to be just another thing that she has to deal with.
I can tell you, though, that I’ve been on here more than usual just looking around to she if she’s come back. So if I have 500 posts per MMP suddenly, you’ll know why.
What kind of crafty stuff are you up to? (I now see that that’s been answered).
I, too, am worried about JtC. Like Moooooom, though, I’m inclined to wait.
I’m finished with the jeans that I was mending. The mending itself wasn’t hard, but the embroidery that I did to camouflage it took a while with breaks to rest my fingers from doing needle work through two layers of denim. Tomorrow, I’ll finish off by doing a quick job on a pair of PJ pants that got the pocket caught on the arm of my desk chair. That shouldn’t take too long, since it just has to be functional, not pretty.
Tonight, I’ll do the assembly of my current batch of cards.
That happens a lot in large families. My mom’s four youngest sibs were spaced amongst her oldest sister’s first four children. Some of my first cousins have kids not much younger than I am and at 61, I have a 52 year old niece and four younger siblings, the youngest who is only 3 years older than the niece.
I am also hoping all is well with our jane. I just saw where she posted on Dec 29th in the R.I.P Jimmy Carter thread. That’s not so long ago in a week where there are four busy holidays. Eve, , New Years Eve and New Years Day, all with traditions and gatherings, expectations and demands, troublesome weather and travel in many places.
I love it when people celebrate Epiphany. It reminds me of my mom. In Italy, Epiphany was/is the gift-giving day, which makes sense. Also, the Magi in the creche scene were moved forward by millimeters until they reached the manger on 1/6. I guess it was a short visit, as Mom wouldn’t take down the tree, etc. until then.
VanGo, fingers, toes, and earlobes crossed for the museum gig becoming permanent. In the meantime, congrats on getting the job!
I’d pay cash money to see that and would hope you’d throw in a little soft shoe.
Despite my many, many wonderful cat experiences, I’ve never counted their tiny jellybeans. So they must have an additional two on two feet. The front or the back? And tell them I said, “Thanks!”
True here, too, though I haven’t posted every time I checked. I wouldn’t ever want to cause her any pressure or extra work. I hope she knows that we’re thinking about her.
Well, I’m now about 50 posts behind, but am inside for the rest of the night so I will do my best to respond appropriately (for various values of appropriate). Refereed and coached today and got a little gym time (not much exercising, lots of time in the Jacuzzi). Looks like Laundry Day is going to be Moanday, almost but not quite out of stuff yet and dishwasher should hit capacity then too, so I’ll make the water department happy. 35F out but it feels much colder, have turned up the heat in the house to make it a little more comfortable.
VanGo, best wishes on the museum being smart and hiring you.
Cause for divorce…No. Cause for Homicide…Perhaps.
FCM, just read about your dream and has shoe been sending you stuff?
boo fae, hope the weather isn’t as bad as predicted.
Sounds like Cornwall and the American South have something in common.
talkie, so very glad the surgery went well.
My niece is 31 now; damn, I really am old. Best wishes for Buster.
Coppertone, so happy for you on the job. Hope this one goes as planned.
BBBoo, enjoy the kidlets but be careful on the drive.
VanGo, glad the plumbing issue was solved.
Oopsie, bummer on the new hire bailing. But appendages crossed for the new opportunity.
See comment on Sticky Buns quote…and you were definitely layered for the cold.
Don’t Ask, glad the ear is doing well, and that must be quite a heater to serve in those temperatures.
Like everyone else I’m concerned about JtC, but she’ll post when she’s able to and until then I’ll just keep sending the positive waves…
And that might catch me up. Humble apologies to anyone I missed. And so onward into the night.
