I Resolve To Start The New Year MMP

There. I’ve made a resolution and stuck it out. I know y’all are so proud of me! What? This Saturday is New Year’s Day, so this counts as a New Year thread. Here it is. Hijack away!

Oh, and…

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 62 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 77 and cloudy. We are under a DENSE FOG ADVISORY I shall not leave da cave today. I shall sloth like I have never slothed before. I shall sloth like sloths just wish they could sloth. That’s the plan of the day. Sup shall be the last of the big feast leftovers.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

On the road - we’re in SC and so far, traffic is reasonable. We wanted to have breakfast at Denny’s, but we sat for about 20 minutes and still no one took our order, so we left and instead had a drive-thru McBreakfast.

If traffic stays decent, we could hit Ocala before 4. We shall see.

Happy Moanday!

Morning all. In bed about 10pm last night and slept until 7:30, so should be somewhat refreshed after my travels. Still don’t have any plans beyond the usual Moanday shop-n-sammich, in fact nothing is on tap for this week–yet. Will emulate swampy and do the sloth thing.

Safe drive FCM. You are much more patient than I am, my time limit is 10 minutes for at least some acknowledgement or I’m gone.

OK, onward into the last few days of 2021. It was slightly better than 2020, perhaps 2022 will continue to improve my outlook on life, the universe, and everything.

Well, good morning.

I can’t believe no one has started the MMP, so I took it upon myself to get one going. It’s not that I imbibe a lot; I think I had a total of three drinks on Christmas Day, and that’s about it. I’m just talking about that post-Christmas weariness and blah feeling. I am more tired each year and I just want stuff to get back to normal. Well, as normal as things are in the age of COVID.

It’s back to work today, and I regret not taking today off too. But, at least I had the week prior to Christmas off. We have a lot of snow on the ground and it’s a very frigid 18 degrees outside. The snow is going to stick around at least through Sunday and we may even see more snow fall mid-week.

That’s all I’ve got. GO!!!

Someone did.

Moved

Thanks. Actually, mine posted first, but it’s no biggie. Swampy and I were minutes apart.

Sorry, i should have checked the time stamps.

Happy Moonday!

Cold 34, feels like 30, degrees.
I told my friend; wouldn’t it be great if ages were like degrees?
Then I could say, I’m 64, feel like 30, years old.
He said we already do, as he is 55, feels like 85, years old.
I want it to go down, so you feel younger, not older.

I made it home just before the rain this morning.
I think it’s supposed to rain all day, but at least it’s not snow.

Milo came to the park this morning. Echo always goes after Milo so I was going to leave, but everybody said let’s see what happens. They were fine, and even played a little. Milo is still a bit timid with Echo, but I think if he gets bolder, she will be less pissy with him.
I hope it stays that way as everybody likes Milo and his mom.

I was supposed to help a friend move furniture today. She called this morning to say her husband has the day off and he will move it. He has a delivery truck; much more room and the furniture won’t get wet. I’m glad for that as it was a 90-minute drive each way.

I wrote up my New Year’s resolutions yesterday.
Not so much resolutions as getting my life in order. It’s been rather messy lately; I need to get together.
Starting with my irk schedule. It has been all over the place.

Heard stuff hitting the window, I guess there is sleet mixed in with the snow.
It’s supposed to be in the 40s today, so it shouldn’t amount to anything.
I have to go back out to take my son to irk. He irks today and tomorrow, and if there is no more overtime, he will have seven days off.
I think I like his days off even more than he does.

It’s 8º Ferret Height here in almost Canada. TWC says it ‘feels like’ eight below. So far, the toilet flushes and fills, the bathroom sink works, the tub/shower works, and the kitchen sink works. The hot water for the utility sink and washer is frozen. I turned up the heater in the back bedroom that’s by the wall where the pipes come up, and left the hot water tap on. The cold water was partially frozen, but flowed normally until it was clear. And I mean ‘clear’ in both senses. When the water started flowing, it was brown. :astonished:

Small was slow, but there was a lot of rescans. So I still made some hours.

TWC is now reporting 10º, so it’s getting warmer. Technically.

I warmed up the Jeep and moved it so Wifey, RN can get out. As long as I was out, I went to check the gauge on the 124-gallon propane tank. Seven percent. I don’t know how long it will last. I called the propane company, and they’re not running today. They’ll send a truck out tomorrow. Unless we run out. Then I can call their emergency line and they’ll send a truck out. Last time we ran completely out, the guy had to come in and start the furnace because we couldn’t.

The Missus started a fire. The utility sink hot water line is still frozen.

It snowed again last night. Just a little bit, but it’s still there. It’s 21f right now with a predicted high of 25f. It’s very quiet for a moanday.

I intend to sloth as much as I’m able today.

I went to a denny’s once and stood around for 20 minutes or so waiting for somebody to show us to a table. We left and I’ve never been back. That was over 50 years ago.
Yes I have a long memory. for some things.

I don’t make new years resolutions. I don’t like to set myself up for failure.

I’ll see myself out.

Morning, mumpers! Well, we arrived safely in Vegas in the early hours of Xmas day, checked in and went straight to bed! I think I have caught up with myself now though.

Lovely and sunny out there, we will be out for a walk around while we decide where to go for food. Tomorrow we are going on a trip to the Valley of Fire so have to get up early for that.

Onwards, ever onwards!

Wifey, RN called from the outlet store area off of the freeway (about 4 or 5 miles away). She’s not going out to see her patient today due to road conditions.

I went to the hardware store to pick up another space heater. They didn’t have any. (No surprise.) They said a truck came in this morning, and they sold them all before noon. I filled two propane tanks. Not that they’ll do any good for the furnace, but the catio will not be freezing.

The birds are enjoying the seeds we’re putting out. There are junkos, I saw a chickadee yesterday, and some plump little birds with bodies the size and shape of small lemons. They’re dark brown with a darker tail, and have grey speckles on their breasts. I think they might be fox sparrows. There’s usually a hummingbird on or near the hummingbird feeder. Sometimes there are two or three, and squabble ensues. I hope the feeder doesn’t freeze solid, and I hope the hummingbirds survive the cold.

Howdy Y’all! Taters all I can say is GMTA! It has been a day of high sloth for the both of us. Been cloudy all day but the temp is in the low 70s which makes me happy. To all you with snow and ice, better thee than me.

I have never liked Denny’s. Never saw the appeal. I did like Shoney’s, but they all disappeared at least in these parts.

Hope all you back at irk today are not havin’ to terrible of a time.

Long-ass drive. We’re less than 2 hours from our final destination. It took over six freekin’ hours to drive the 200 miles thru SC.

So ready for this day to be done…

I’m in the '70s and fog warning part of the country as well. Not working until this weekend so I am truly embracing the lawless nowhereland that is the week between Christmas and NYE. Got an email that I had a reply on here and finally wandered back in. Nice to see familiar faces, and sad to read the memorial pages.

All I’ve done today is eat rice and nap. But it will all get done. After all, tomorrow is another day!

ETA - I stopped a Shoneys North of Huntsville a few years ago. Let it live in your memories, for the current truth is but a withered corpse of the strawberry pies of the past.

I’m very glad to see all of your shining faces? avatars? here. Missed y’all while I was away from a real screen. Read some, retained little, so all the necessaries as needed.

Back home after visiting the fam for x-mas. It was great to see them, but my sister can be very tiring. She’s 41, but things are still so very dramatic, even when they shouldn’t be. Work issues arose on sunday for her, wtf is she supposed to do about a student issue on the sunday after christmas? She can’t do a damn thing, but we still got to hear about it at length and volume. With dramatic pauses for reactions.

Anyway, I’m home after an 8 1/2 hour drive. There has got to be a better way to get past the Mass Pike in Worcester. Stop and go for over an hour. I call BS. Fortunately the shite weather held off until just now as I’m sitting down at the 'puter. Think I’ll tell the boss I’m taking a personal day tomorrow. 'scuse me. (Hey paintcharge, I’m taking tomorrow off.) Sometimes working for yourself has perks.

Stay safe and travel well, everyone.

I’ve been busy rotating the hummingbird feeder: when the outside one gets to the consistency of a Slurpee, or a frozen Margarita, I swap it for the one inside. I worry about the buzzheads getting ice cream brain. When the temperature is colder, they are better about sharing the spots on the feeder, but when they warm up and get juiced from the feeder, they turn into their usual jerkface selves, zooming at each other and chasing each other. When I take a feeder inside, they fly right up to me and start beaking off, chivvying me to hurry up. It’s great!
