(Old) Be-Labor-ing a Point. An End of (Meteorological) Summer MMP

I am always happy to pass along things from my grandma. It’s one way she still lives.

1/4 cup cocoa powder
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt
3 cups milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 tablespoon butter

Scald 2-1/2 cups of the milk. Blend the dry ingredients until evenly mixed. Stir in the 1/2 milk ubtil smooth. Stir this carefully into the scalded milk. Cook until thick, stirring to be sure it doesn’t scorch.(I put it in the top of a double boiler to cook) When thickened take it from the fir and stir in vanilla and butter. It can then be poured into serving dishes.

As a pie I poured it into a baked crust and chilled it, then topped with slightly sweetened whipped cream. When Kool Whip came out grandma was satisfied to us that, but I love real cream on some things. This pudding is very versatile. If you make it let me know how it comes out. To me it’s a taste of my childhood.
