LOL! I can actually see me doing that. I’m glad you have the navigation gene. Good life match.
I once was driving back home to near Pittsburgh from a trip to Erie and somehow wound up in New York state.
When I was small my parents had a leash they put on me when we would go into the city (Pittsburgh). Seems the missing navigation gene surfaced early on.
Man you have more motivation than I would be able to handle!
I am impressed you had your leakage catastrophe cleaned up so quickly. Bean soup should be easy!
When I was in high school, one of my teachers admitted that she (living in Dallas) was driving to visit her parents (in Ft. Worth) and figured out she took the wrong way when she saw signs that said, “Welcome to Oklahoma!”
And I thought my tendency to wind up in the wrong county was bad!
Seriously, here in Sacramento, we have the I-80 freeway and the “Business 80” freeway, which loops off said Interstate 80 while going through the city. If I get on the I-80 when I don’t intend to, I get confused about where I can exit and tend to wind up in the next county over before I can find an exit to somewhere (I think) I’m familiar with.
shoe - MIL doesn’t like podcasts or streaming. It’s in person or nothing. And in person it has to be near the front so she can see something.
And it’s navy bean and ham soup. All ingredients are chopped and ready to me added in due order and time.
And yes, I know not to mix ammonia and bleach. But the amount of ammonia in urine is teensy - I looked it up. And the bleach was diluted somewhat. No chlorine gas was released and no humans died during or after this terlit repair. And my washer no longer smells of wee.
Except for maybe 30 minutes to eat toast, MIL has pretty much slept all day. She’ll probably wake for some soup, then sleep again.
Howdy Y’all! Got deheathenated and then had a meetin’ with most of the acolytes to talk about changes to the service. Most seem to get it. We shall have a trainin’ in a couple of weeks to make sure it sticks. Nuttin’ big, just a return to some of the more traditional ways that NP prefers. I prefer them myself as well, so I’m good. We decided to have the grilled chikin and sallit for N.O.L. Then nappage and day drinkin’ were achieved. ‘Tis earlier than usual, but the biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. It’s been rainin’ off and on today, so got it down there between rains. Netflix, chill, and popcorn up next.
BooFae how nice of the local motorists to provide you with entertainment as you sloth and sip tea! I think the rubrics in the Book of Common Prayer frown upon Vegas showgirls processin’ at a funeral.
doggio Chuck E. Cheese and a sleazy motel would seem to compliment each other. I hates that skeevy mouse, I does!
sari glad you’re almost better.
MOOOOOOM ICK! Hope the terlet woes are fixed soonest.
Six I live in, OK near, a swamp. It ain’t so bad.
Cookie hope wife is feelin’ better soonest. Enjoy family pizza time!
VanGo mowage and a/c unit removal is indeed enough for one day. You need sloth and bon bons or adult beverages or all three.
shoe I agree that ya gotta look at a rainbow.
Coppertone football and pizza sounds perfect. Enjoy!
One of those situations that make me glad that maintenance is just a call away.
Got the Sunday chores done, messed around with some Steampunk stuff in the studio (I’ll mess around with it some more in a bit) and made a really good batch of golumpki and a nice cuke salad for Sunday dinner. Now for evening KP.
I have my poll worker training in early October and I did get assigned at my local precinct. (Not that the last time was very far). The number of poll book officers has increased I’m sure because November is going to be crazy busy vs. the June primary.
KP is done and I finished up the Steampunk cards that I began earlier. It’s been a while since I’ve done anything in that genre and it felt good to get some of my supplies for it out.
Thank you both for doing this. I was one of the paid government workers at the polls (my boss traded me out for elections so she could get some of the Election department people to help with the inventory) for both of Obama’s elections. There were lines out the door and down the street. The county brought in busses to use for warm waiting areas because it was wet snow was falling and it was super cold. People didn’t want to lose them and risk not hearing their number.
They would have heard and seen their number.
I can’t take the hours anymore so thanks again for doing this for everyone.
I was thinking of a New Orleans marching brass band. “Oh when the saints come marching in…”
Air fryer or if you are using that for the chips, oven.
They are nothing compared to piping the Devil’s Tower out of whipped cream while stoned. Cause why else would one do such a thing?
I am so very jealous! We haven’t seen a food truck since leaving AZ and I sure do miss them. When I was working at the government building, food trucks weren’t allowed on site, but would park in at the apartment building next door on a random basis. There are things I miss about AZ, but I certainly don’t miss them enough to go back.
There was a BBQ truck that showed up on Sundays at the Lakes. I’m not a huge fan of BBQ, too sweet for me, but his mac and cheese was to die for.
My fav was when “Outlaw Donuts” would show up by work. Fresh, warm donuts and fancy coffee just in time for the morning break. That line was always long but happy.
Yes, I had the tones going through my head while I was dragging a fork down the sides. I wonder if he would have recognized it if I had taken the propane torch to it. I wonder if I could have successfully used a cooking torch on frozen whipped cream and kept the definition. I wonder if I will ever know because the chances of me being motivated to do such a thing in the future are pretty low.
I read further and saw that you got the water stopped and the stink figured out. Dang about the mess, I hope the water didn’t get into the subfloor.
I think they are bogs.
Look for diabetic socks, they are designed to not restrict blood flow to the feets. I hope you have a great trip!
Broken down riders out this way go for 500. Folks snap them right up for parts, so that is an option.
Back when I was young and could walk effortlessly, I used to walk right by my destination because I was so enthralled by the plants. Once it took me 20 minutes to go back and confess that I had missed my doctor appointment because the plumeria were blooming.
We lived in the Lakes for decades and I still got lost at times. You are not alone.
Of course they do. Problems arise every time and they try to adjust accordingly.
Thank you for doing this.
It was going to be tart cherries and very dark chocolate! Instead he got a very decorative mound of boring white whipped cream.
I love baking here. I always had to adjust for the altitude in AZ and now I can actually trust the recipes. That was the best cheesecake I’ve ever made. The texture was just perfect, it was set beautifully and I should have taken a picture before I whipped up a quart of cream to defile it.
Misnomer, you and my maternal grandmother would have got along. She was never to my knowledge a poll worker but she thought voting was important, all the elections, not just presidential. She started voting in 1928 and her last election was in 2012 just shy of her 108th birthday,
I am recovering this evening from a fog of calories. Friday, Saturday and today a lot of family has been gathered for a reunion, and as with many family events there is food. Today was the big potluck. There were all ages, from ninety to a baby girl born in April. I ate WAY too much, and the coming week I will do my best to get my carbs and calories back under control I made a peach pie with a streusel topping, and a chocolate pie with whipped cream. The chocolate pudding filling is a recipe from that same grandmother I already mentioned and is not hard to make. It is cooked but no eggs.
Good Sunday evening all. Took on a full load of Pot Roast w/rice & gravy, soup and salad, cookies and pecan pie at the Golden Corral, then pedaled half the calories away later this afternoon. Just finished a Big bag of Salad as I bought one this morning for later this week, forgetting I already had one on hand. So waste not, want not… Temperature is down to 75F so another beautiful evening in store (but back up to 90F tomorrow…). Still need to put the dishes away from the dishwasher, I’ll get that before bedtime (maybe). Otherwise a night of sloth and puzzles.
FCM, hope the 2-dammit problem with the toilet is fixed for good.
Six, hope the wrist gets to feeling better soon. And use up that leave time, and happy Nine Months to Retirement Day!
VanGo, I have an old push mower that doesn’t work, if you’d like to add it to your collection…
As well you should. I’ve got about 15% complete, should get it up to 25% before bedtime and should pretty well finish it by Wednesday… I get distracted by the Ken-Ken and Acrostic games (oh, squirrel!) there.
Oopsie, glad Fall seems to be arriving, still getting to 90F here in the next couple of days but at least the evenings are much cooler; have gone all day today without the HVAC being on. And being a lone bachelor I do worry a bit on being alone and incapacitated, but just haven’t motivated myself to get any type of device to let me contact help. Guess I’ll have to fall and break something to learn that lesson.
Never been an election official, but have voted in every presidential election since 1972.
Hippie, that’s awesome.
I’m like my Mom was, a ‘landmarks’ driver (as in, turn left at the Circle K and look for the wal-Mart on your left…) but I’ve gotten a little bit better on directional driving over the years…still prefer written instructions if I can get them (albeit FCM gave me good ones years ago to visit them and I still got lost…)
shoe, according to Wikipedia, Chuck E Cheese still has over 500 locations.
It’s also at the end of one of my all-time favorite short stories:
The Nine Billion Names of God by Arthur C. Clarke
I adore you.
red, not much into steampunk (I do read the webcomic Girl Genius however, so I am not a complete novice) but nice work on those cards.
We see the occasional food truck (usually Hispanic food) around here, but not a lot of businesses around here so they are rather limited.
Cupcakes, I watch my calories closely, but sometimes you just gotta go with it and eat like there is no tomorrow. Sunday and Monday are my days that I usually blitz the calorie counter and then pay for it the rest of the week.
And that about wears my typing skills out; have a good end of the week and I’ll catch all y’all on the next MMP.
Fcm, you inspired me to clean the toilet, then the cat’s toilets, then there was a bit of tidying… I guess a body in motion does stay in motion for a bit.
There are three types of people: those who can reason out a problem, those who learn from others’ mistakes, and those who just have to grab the electric fence for themselves.
I know of at least one within a reasonable radius of my home.
JtC Wish I had known about those diabetic socks 10+ yrs ago. Mom hated socks that were snug at the top so she never wore the Smartwool merino socks that I bought for her. Good to know for the future.
I’m so happy for you. At first when your Hubs mentioned WV as a possible landing place, you really weren’t very enthused about it, AFAIR you were not on board at all. But it seems that things are working out very well. You have beautiful scenery, relatives that seem very friendly, a young relative that you are sharing your beloved needlework skills with, better weather (rain that actually makes a difference and not so gosh darn hot; I’m sure you’ll enjoy having 4 seasons again), better altitude for baking/cooking and a lot of good skilled workmen. I hope you’re able to find a Tai Chi class that works for you.
A former friend that I have recently reconnected with wants to get back involved with Tai Chi; apparently she used to take classes. Right now she’s in Africa on safari but when she returns we both want to take some Tai Chi classes. I’ve googled and found some possibilities.
I worked 4 hrs then walked back home. Filtered about 4 gallons of water. Had planned to make a kind of shepherd’s pie using ground turkey but was kinda tired. Hubs suggested Stouffer’s lasagna which we had 3 boxes of in the freezer. So, popped one into the microwave for 10 minutes then the oven for 25. Soo yum. Also had asparagus and broccoli slaw.
Watched the men’s US Open on dvr. Jannik Sinner, Italian, beat Taylor Fritz, American, in 3 sets. Taylor had his chances but it wasn’t to be.
I think I’m going to go workout on our NuStep then hit the hay.
I have that problem with the Saturday puzzle, which I find to be more difficult. I usually have to walk away from it for awhile, then return and hit it again a couple of times.
Before we got the litter robot, I used to drag the plastic litter boxes outside, dump them, fill them with water and a couple of glugs of bleach and then pour the cat pee bleach water on the weeds cause nothing could survive that, right? Nope, I had very clean and healthy weeds.
I was talking to a professional landscaper about it and he almost died trying to not laugh. Uria is often used in liquid fertilizers and a glug of bleach in a gallon of water isn’t enough to kill flies.
Oh yes.
I love the top hat!
I wouldn’t mind a copy of the recipe if you wouldn’t mind.
How is your shoulder? I’m guessing it is doing better if you can type complete sentences.
We went grocery shopping this morning and found a hunk of cow in the used meat bin. Half of it went into the freezer and the rest went into the slow cooker. I despise cooked carrots so I used big chunks that are easy to pick out. I considered making a green salad but lost track of time. I’ll make tacos tomorrow and load them up with lettuce and tomatoes.
I knew what that was without checking the spoiler. Well…actually, I knew who had written it and was remembering them on the mules while digging around for the name. A couple of stitches and counting later, it came to me.
Homeless shelters always beg for socks and unders. They really treasure diabetic socks because so many homeless have uncontrolled diabetes.
Thank you! It was Kentucky I wasn’t happy about, I have wanted to live in WV since I first visited. I REALLY wanted to keep his parent’s home and rent it out until we retired, but he sold it while he was mourning. He thought I wouldn’t survive a winter in WV without realizing that once I retired I would just drink coffee while looking at the snow from inside.
And then the world ended. And things got bad, but then they got better. It is so wonderful here. TC friend was raised in VA and misses it there. She’s going to come and visit next month because she wants to live in a lower cost of living area as well. Fingers crossed that she finds something close.
Sun Tai Chi is best for us old farts. It focuses on balance and stretching, no violent motions like self defense TC. I know that you will enjoy it.
And now Jolene is back in heat. FML. She started displaying and GG ran off and hid in the cabinet.
