(Old) Be-Laboring A Point- An End Of Summer MMP

That was daunting in the past, but we have the means and certainly have the time. The only hangup is someone to stay with the cat.

Howdy Y’all! Mowage got accomplished this mornin’ and we had a nice rain this afternoon, so yay for all that. The rest of the day has been devoted to high sloth and general overall uselessness. Bein’ productive wears me out! Thus nappage was accomplished along with day drinkin’. Had a sammich and some chips a little while ago. I might soon need to think about second sup as I am feelin’ a bit peckish. I like the word peckish. It looks dirty but is not.

I thought one was nekkid in the sauna?!?

It was delivered while I was still home and I ran to the mailbox as soon as I got the text. FCD just finished setting it up - he made it way more difficult than it needs to be. Now I just have to help BIL get his set up tomorrow. rah.

FCD didn’t want to eat supper so I made myself a tuna steak with green beans and onion. Now I’m ready for chillage.

sari, if you’re having trouble sitting up, you definitely need someone around. Your son’s sleep, while important, can be interrupted. I worry about you while he’s at irk.

nellie, having to deal with communications issues with medical providers sucks. Is your PT through the hospital or independent? In any case, I would let your medical provider (if they ever answer their !@#$ing phone) know that this particular PT outfit doesn’t deliver.

I messed around with scraps in the studio today, ordered some new dies that will be of interest to JtC and shoe that combine papercraft and thread work, did a second round at the dog park (had to put on pants again! :stuck_out_tongue: ) and topped it off with a stoner supper (my choice was the cheddar burger, a chicken quesadilla and a chicken wrap that I’m saving for later). It’s been a fun day of sloth!

For a second, I thought you got another pet.

Not gonna lie, last thing I want after getting Exxon Valdez level of hot ‘n’ icky is a nice, hot bowl of soup.

And I say this a hyuuge aficionado of soup. Like, I’ve driven two hours round trip w no D.L. and bad plates, repeatedly, for good Vietnamese pho.

If Sari gave me advice, we could make a nice lil’ circle!

… oooohhhh?!?

How does one combine the two?

No shit. I was there barely four hours. Considering “Long Night” is ten hours, I feel like … did I even work today at all?

Basically, portions of the dies have piercings to do embroidery or cross stitch on. This is one of them. I’ll have to use 120# cardstock with them, but I think they’ll be fun.

Wrapped up this evening’s studio play and am relaxing with a little reddish dog in my arms. See y’all tomorrow!

I managed to forget my phone at the office when I left. At least I can be confident that it is safe, it’s just a nuisance to not have it. Google’s Find My Device is very useful.

Working for a public housing agency has its pluses and minuses. Big minus today was calling people who haven’t paid their rent yet and the rather entitled “that deadline is an easily ignorable suggestion” or the “I shouldn’t have to pay a cent toward the roof over my head” attitudes get tiresome.

It’s really amazing how out of touch I feel if my computer isn’t working. This didn’t happen before the time we had them.

I’m not thrilled by having to deal with radio DJs to have music on the way home (didn’t have any CDs handy).

If you did have CD’s just don’t plug them in while driving.

I’d pull over for that kind of maneuver, don’t worry. When I start a trip, the goal is to get there without myself or anyone else being injured because of me, and ideally by the time I need to be there.

I agree with everyone else, this is not sustainable. If you can’t depend on SarSon to help you, you really do need to find someone to come and help until you recover. When FIL was in his end days, we were able to get a home health aide to come in a couple of times a day to give FIL the care we couldn’t. It wasn’t horrible pricey and we were able to specify a male nurse because FIL didn’t want a woman seeing him naked.

We’ve been telling you this for a while, please listen to us.

Are you saying I need to cut down on his nip?

I’ve had smart cats in the past and Imma thinking that the not so smart ones are much easier

I’d guess that them being forced to pay back stolen tips was just the tip of the iceberg. If you are lucky, the GM might end up behind bars for a while cause embezzling is still a crime.

Ohhhhhh, those look addicting!

I’ll bet it’s like being a food stamp worker. Many people are really grateful for the help, but the entitled ones sometimes make you wish you could slap people through the phone.

So, I had promised NF that I would take some eggs and surplus produce to her place while she was gone but suddenly my upbringing slapped me on the back of the head and I got really uncomfortable with the idea of visiting a friend’s husband while she wasn’t home so I asked hubs to come with me.

NF’s husband is a delightful person and I enjoy his company, but what would the neighbors say about a younger woman visiting while his wife was gone? Appearances matter!

Yes, super silly I know, but strange things stick.

So I went to my private TC class and then hubs and I went to the egg lady’s place and picked up a dozen freshly laid eggs and delivered eggs, produce and fudge to NF’s hub. While Hubs and NF Hubs were talking car stuff, I picked up a big bag of deadfall peaches while the crows said many bad words at me. NF Hubs had the picker on a pole thing out for us, but I disappointed him by only picking a bag of the low hanging ripe stuff.

After I got home, I took the deadfall peaches to another chicken owner along with some nice eating peaches. He insisted I take a dozen eggs without giving him money because I gave him food for his girls. He did this last time I got eggs from him which kinda bothers me because it is pretty obvious that he could use the money. I’m going to make Hubs start getting eggs from him in the winter because guys talk differently to each other than they do to women.

I’m really sorry I sounded preachy there. It’s just that’s how my father was killed. A guy looked down to plug in a CD and his truck hit my dad on his motorcycle.

I wasn’t at all offended. You were absolutely correct, and I’m sorry if I sounded at all displeased with you. My intent was to reassure you that I would be following your quite good advice.

I think I’m going to have to go to the ortho clinic tomorrow. There’s a patch of red at the bottom of the incision that’s been growing all day and is now pretty big. I didn’t say anything when I called them because I don’t have any oozing and don’t have a fever, and besides, it wan’t that large. It’s still itchy, and now there are little dots that look like goosebumps farther up. Hives, maybe. It’s probably nothing serious, but I guess it should be seen. If I can’t reach anyone, I’ll go to the walk-in clinic.

Trying to decide if I should wrap it again tonight. I’m thinking not. Also trying not to feel defeated.

That sounds serious. Let us know what happens.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. I need to buy a lime after work.

Yep.

At some point.

Morning, mumpers! It’s a balmy 19c/66f with a predicted high of 28c/82f, and cloudy. Weather app is bored with constancy now, and asks “Do we talk about the fucking weather because we have nothing else in fucking common?” Well, yes, perhaps.

nellie let us know how you get on with the clinic, hope they can reassure you that your knee is in good shape! Also, Famous Potatoes are from Essex so they’re definitely ours rather than yours

Sari did you have a better night? I agree with the advice that you should have someone around, and SarSon needs to be more aware of your health issues and the potential problems it carries.

Moooom glad to hear the phone was where it was expected to be.

Seanette it’s ridiculous how cut off we feel without a phone now, I remember getting my first cell phone and wondering why I really needed one. Now we can’t seem to function without one!

I’m at irk, it’s hot, windows are open and fans are blowing but it’s still stuffy in here. Fortunately I get to finish early today as I’m off to an event in Wigan tonight so I need to get home, get changed, sort cats out and be on a train by 6.30pm! Fun times!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 67 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 91 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I shall take care of various duties over to the church house this mornin’. OYKW shall accompany me and then we will be bears who brunch at Newk’s. Beyond that high sloth and general uselessness shall rule the day. The search committee has a zoom meetin’ with the Canon of Weaponry at six p.m. I like the fact that I can do that from da cave.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and alack, I suppose I must needs purtify and don attire appropriate for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. How I suffer for the public!

Happy Firday Y’all!

OMG - that’s the mindset in these trashy Regency romance novels I’ve been reading. Single ladies must have chaperones when they’re with non-family men, because they might be < gasp > compromised!!!

When I was in college, I was friends with a couple - he was a classmate and they were more or less newlyweds. The wife hurt her leg badly in a karate class and was hospitalized for several days. My friend hated going home to an empty apartment, so he’d come to my place to study, but we’d end up sitting around solving all the world’s problems. At least we did until he said people were starting to talk.

As he put it “If there were 100 men left in the world, I’d be the 101st to cheat on my wife.” And anyone who knew him knew this to be truth. But gossips will gossip… And further, while he was a good friend, there’s no way on God’s green earth I’d date him, much less get nekkid in a pile!! :open_mouth:

I got my first little Nokia reluctantly because FCD insisted I should have it for emergencies. It mostly lived in my car since I wasn’t allowed to take it into work (classified facility.) Then I stuck with cheapie flip phones for a while, tho I never had an emergency. Then I caved and got a smart phone, and while I’m not one of those people who are always bent over it, I take lots of pics of the grands, and I do like that if we’re out to eat and something weird comes up in conversation, I can pull out The Google. And I figured out that texting really is a great way to communicate non-urgent matters. And if I happen to leave home sans phone, I worry what I’ll do if I have an accident…

FCD finally got his phone set up to his satisfaction, and he did a factory reset on the old one before passing it on to his brother. We’ll go over there today to install the new SIM card and get BIL’s account set up. Then FCD will show his brother how the smart phone works, as he transitions from his old flip phone. This is the brother with mental/emotional issues, so it’ll be trying for my sweetie, but BIL does OK with basic technology, so here’s hoping.

Last night, we were in severe T-storm warning (or watch - I don’t recall which) and the sky got weird for a bit. There was a yellowish glow to the light and the sky had gray and dark blue areas, plus we heard lots of rumbles. Then, nothing… Dammit. We need rain badly. On the plus side, I’d forgotten to put the plastic cover over the firewood, so there’s that. I will cover it today, since we might get rain tonight. Maybe.

And so the day begins. Happy Firday!!
