My thoughts exactly! red, whose birthday is 10 days after Xmas. My paternal grandmother usually got me a little something, since her birthday was the day after mine and she could relate. I don’t recall her buying birthday gifts for my siblings.

About 40 years ago, Mom made a frame weight and beaded scissors cover for me and used the same colors to make a fob on a pair of generic gold plated needlework scissors. I have used the scissors so much that I’ve rubbed the plating off the handles, but the hinge is good and they have never cut anything but thread so are as sharp as the day she gifted them to me.
That’s how you know that you’re a serious hobbyist. I have different paper cutting scissors, a nice pair for thread, yarn and embroidery floss, both scissors and pinking shears for fabric and a pair of professional butcher’s scissors for the kitchen that were issued to me when I worked in raw products inspection at the meat packing plant (and no, NO ONE is allowed to use those for packaging. That’s what the box knife and cheap scissors are for).
I’m so sorry about your mom wordy. I’m glad that she got to spend her last minutes in her own bed with you and your sister. Hugs to you and the family.
The quilt show sounds like a nice trip hippy. Now, I want to go back to the Quilt and Textile Museum this weekend (I haven’t been for a few years).
Happy gotcha day to Misty seanette!
More politics at irk. I requested a PTO day for tomorrow and was approved, so I’m going to have a mental health day doing nothing that I have to do other than nuking / driving thru meals and KP. I’m thinking that reading, messing around in the studio, dusting off the autoharp and maybe, putting on pants and taking Nelson to the dog park. And maybe calling up SIL and suggesting a ramble said Quilt and Textile Museum Saturday.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
