(Old) Buddying With Allies in the MMP

Third load of laundry is about to get thrown in the dryer. Exciting times at casa paint.

A Ford Escape. I’m unfortunately still in the rental, I didn’t get the title until 3 on friday and the line was out the door at the DMV.

{{{taters}}}

I am here and extremely nauseous. Rah.

As avian flu is also infecting cattle in the U.S., I was wondering about it causing milk shortages. I forgot about weather affecting milk sales. Here the milk supply lines are fairly short, plus there’s UHT milk (shelf stable) sold anywhere fresh milk is sold. We always have UHT milk at home as backup, in case we can’t get to the store. Switzerland has had cases of avian flu, but only in wild fowl. So far.

Such a nice gesture. {{{{{taters}}}}} It’s really unfair what you and your colleagues are going through.

Wah. Hope you’re feeling better soon.

Went to the grocery store and then we went for a 6.5 mile walk and had hot dogs and beer for lunch. Came back and started pizza dough for tomorrow (oh - I should cut up drain the canned pineapple tonight) and made an apple cheesecake pie. Was going to do something with tax papers, but it’s already 6:30 pm and I’m maybe not that motivated. Maybe I’ll do some exercises while waiting for the next step for the pizza dough.

taters This whole situation sucks. Very sorry you are forced to go through it.

cookie Sounds like some new digs might be a wise choice.

Afternoon all. Three loads of laundry done, dried and put away, so my main duty for the day is done. Had a second breakfast (pancakes and bacon) and am having bananas and crackers as a snack right now, so do need to get over to the soccer gym and referee a couple of games before I coach to work off some of those calories. It’s 63F now but there is a wind gust warning for tonight (up to 40mph) which will bring in colder air for tomorrow.

{{{Taters}}}, I am so glad I am retired now, but I worry they will go after retirement plans like the old Civil Service one I am on. So far, so good…

FCM, had to look up Bimini (wondered what an island had to do with a boat) and hopefully a replacement can be found.

Cookie, I’m wondering if there are other places near you that are better run that this one…

{{Sticky Buns}}, hope you feel better soon.

Onward into the day.

So I was doing the 2 Slides thing. Then I had to help finish loading in Orange 32. Which was fun, having to climbing over a bunch of tottering rugs to get into the unit. Then I was helping finish up the 300 Slide, then loading 300 Bottom Yellow until quittin’ time. I got a load of laundry in the dryer, watching The Four Nations Faceoff(Go Finland!), and Spot and I are having a gin&tonic.

(although a loose dame with a .45 would be tempting)

No you don’t {{{{Taters and entire Fed workforce}}}}

He’s still got the exterior dangly bits.

I had eggs(two!) and bacon for First Breakfast. Spot had dry, flavorless bits.

He wants to go after University endowments, so pensions are probably next. And here I am 62 days from vesting in the Brown one.

{{{{sticky}}}}

OMG - The Mart of Wal was bat-crap crazy!! Not aided by all the assholes “parked” in front of the store, making it extremely difficult, bordering on unsafe, to drive along. I got past and parked waaaay away from the doors, knowing it would be easier to get out when I was done. And imagine my delight when I arrived to a message that the item I’d ordered was out of stock, so I could have avoided the whole fiasco. I did go in and get a few items we needed, but I forgot the shampoo, dammit! We aren’t out, but I like having an extra bottle on hand. Next time, I guess.

And no cheap chocolate left.

It’s raining and it’s chilly-icky outside. I think it’s a good day for veggie-beef soup for supper.

Oh, and BIL may possibly not be evicted just this time. His case has been transferred to a different part of the organization that’s been dealing with him. They’re going to appeal the eviction based on his changed status. So we shall see.

And the good news - our new credit card came in the mail today, so YAAAAAAY!! Now I can go about changing all our bills to the new card.

And that’s all. I need to unwind after my errand expedition.

I upgraded my larger (15-inch) MacBook Pro to Sequoia 15.3.1 last night. I don’t use this computer for irk, but I have VPN and Microsoft Remote Desktop on it just in case. After the backup and the upgrade, I tried to log in and couldn’t. I compared it to the 13-inch one, and the Custom Port was missing a digit. I fixed it. I backed up the 13-inch this morning. It’s probably safe to upgrade the OS.

The clean up is ongoing. They were trying to get things swept up before the weather gets wet.

Sure enough the snow started to fly around 1. Luckily the shuttle had picked us up and was on the way back to the building when it started. It is turning to rain now.

I’ve got my sock homework done and have started the second sock. Hopefully it won’t rain too heavily. Don’t want to get my sock wet before I wear it.

Jtc, our building could be seen from wide overhead shots. We are across the street and a block to the back.

News from our nellie to all, I’m passing it along:

… Hi! I’m still in Chicago at my brother’s. My laptop died, and I can’t log in on my phone because my username, etc. are on my laptop and on a paper back home. It may be a week or more before I can get back to the MMP. Say hi to everyone for me…

Howdy Y’all! OYKW went to Walgreens and brought home three bags of milk chawklit Kisses and, just for me, two bags of dark chawklit ones, as there were only two. Said he thought about goin’ to :astonished:Wally*World:astonished:, but came to his senses and didn’t. So I guess I got me a Valentine gift. I have been in high RDOS mode all day. The sun came out so we et majik intartoobz pizza and sallit and had beerverages out on the back porch. Methinks chawklit cake shall be eaten soon. Netflix, chill and popcorn are also on the agenda.

{{{Taters}}} been thinkin’ about you this week. I hope, but won’t hold my breath, that things settle down soonest.

BooFae yay for Shadow bein’ more himself today!

I would like to subscribe to your culinary newsletter.

We’re somewhat OCD here, but not so much with cookies. Maybe the Lemonades next.

You will never get the boat exactly right, fixing this and fixing that, until the day when you sell the boat. That’s the way it is with boats. That’s part of why we love 'em.

Bring it up! Tell on her,

I should send you the recipes that swampy put in an online cookbook.

I added a quote from Flight of the Intruder to its IMDb page.

  • Cdr. Camparelli: Face forward, mister. I’m just starting. Where do you get off, mister? Are you special? You’re just a sensitive fella here. I’d like to take you home to my mama.
  • Cdr. Camparelli: And as for you, you can lead the Manson family now that Charlie’s in jail. You’d like that, wouldn’t you? You’re a maniac. They ought to study you, Cole.

I brought it up. The patient is not diabetic, so the cosmetologist isn’t exceeding her authority that way. (Wifey, RN had already considered that.) The patient has his legs wrapped, so he’s obviously receiving medical care. Wifey, RN said that since he doesn’t (or they don’t, or she doesn’t) want her services, she decided to leave it up to the guy’s medical professional.

She’s way more disciplined than I am.

That’s a pretty decent ride. Have fun with it.

Feel better soonest.

You win the lottery or sumpin’? :stuck_out_tongue:

You know the old saw everywhere If you don’t like the weather, hang around 5 minutes ? In the last day and a half, I’ve suited myself and Nelson up in the heavy winter gear, denim jackets, rain gear and no coat at all. I think Ma Nature needs to take her meds.

I got the cut work and most of the ink work done on the Easter cards today, then took Nelson to PetSmart for his weekend social outing. A mish-mash supper has been et and I think I’ll mess around in the studio some more.

Except she had two! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Good evening all. Only had 5 players for soccer today, but they played their hearts out and won 5-2. In reward the got Valentine Day Snickers (shaped like a rather deformed heart) and I also ate one…three… Am now home with my Pasta bowl, my weight has slipped down to near 195 so I want to add some more and this (plus a trip to the Golden Corral tomorrow) will help some. Still predicting high winds and tunder-boomers tonight, will have to check the back-yard fence tomorrow to see if it made it.

FCM, hope this Credit card is harder to crack.

BBBoo, thanks for the nellie update, we’ll wait patiently for here returnand hopefully the stories she has to tell.

Swampy, rather nice of OYKW…nothing says love like Chocolate.

Will try to remember to check in for the late night final. Take care all.

So incredibly sweet and the ones you brought home are gorgeous.

my favorite as well.

what is happening to our taters and the entire federal workforce as well as all those supposed to be receiving payments from the US is so freaking depressing. AAAAAAAAARGH!

Today is my BFs BD so I texted and she replied. Then we spoke. I had previously invited her to come for brunch but she wasn’t sure about her availability due to family commitments. Well her daughter canceled coming from the PNW due to illness then her BIL came down with something, I forget what, so she’s not getting together with her sister and nephew and his family. Finally settled on her coming over tomorrow. I wrapped a bunch of presents but thought I was going to have to tell her there’s another on the way and I’ll have to give it to you next week as it was scheduled to be delivered on the 18th. Well, wonder of wonders, it was delivered today. Also made the gluten free cookies for her.

Had to shovel the driveway, neighbor lad shoveled the sidewalk, front walk and porch again. I had Hubs text him to ask what kind of cookies he prefers and he said “I’d never turn down chocolate chip” so that’s what I’m making next.

My Spartans play the Illinois at 8pm in Champaign. They lost to Indiana on Tuesday. I’m wearing black Spartan gear as I’m not at all confident that the outcome will be positive.

Have a good evening.
