(Old) Buddying With Allies in the MMP

Skimming through, I originally read this to mean you and the hub were simultaneously having urinary tract and gastroenterology issues. :scream:

Well…we do tend to eat the same food…

Bed is dressed and I’m just smoking a bowl or two to let my hip/back relax before I fall gratefully into Hypnos’s loving embrace.

In a perfect (or less-shitty) world, I’d be honored to send you one or three.

I do that now. Either 14 or 29 minutes of … if not sheer bliss, at least no f’ing questions.

I LOL’d so hard, I squawked myself!

Children? Mattresses?

And the New Yorkers. Dear gawd, does he hate that accent.

Jeebus :imp: we were slammed tonight. Management shut off online orders for an hour just to help us get somewhat caught up, and it was still just insane-o-pants.

Also, the lovely lady who does our dishes has been out sick with pneumonia, so on top of everything else, we have that to deal with.

There just aren’t enough people on the roster.

… but our teenage crew brought roses FOR EVERYONE.
She doesn’t know about Other Shoe and why tonight is not a fun day for me.

But I brought home a lovely orange rose, and salvaged a creamy-white one at the last minute. We’ll see if it rallies.

Oh that looks good. It’s extrememely unlikely I’ll ever be in the area. But it looks like something that would be worth a detour.

I took the week off due to my back. So thanks for the push, even if it wasn’t targeted at me. Not doing exercises means my right shoulder is talking to me, and it’s not a bunch of sweet nothings.

I haven’t had breakfast yet. My mouth is salivating - that sounds so good!

Yay for good neighbors!

Doing all that adulting stuff. :+1:

I asked a colleague about her plans for the weekend and she mentioned that her boyfriend is taking her out to dinner for VD and asked what hubby and I are doing for VD. We did the same thing we’ve done for years. Ignored it. I was looking at the chocolate and flowers by the cash register last night and all I could think of how high the packaging to content ratio is.

Yay. Hope it’s better in the snow that your rental.

I read this as another indicator that the management is skimping on proper maintenance, repair and modernization. When it’s windy some elevator doors don’t like closing, but there are solutions. [Are Your Elevator Doors Not Closing Properly?] (Are Your Elevator Doors Not Closing Properly? |) When it’s really windy out, the elevator shaft at work becomes a wind tunnel, and the wind makes a lot of noise. The elevator doors still close, no problem.

Burped bed and cousin’s hubby is doing better. I like this good news trend.

Amen. Their products are not as good as they were 20 years ago. My parents are hoping their Cuisinart food processor doesn’t give up the ghost - it’s 30+ years old and still going strong.

Are there also milk shortages? I’ve only heard about the egg situation. I think eggs, on average, are more expensive in the U.S. than here in Switzerland.

Pretty colors. After many years of disliking orange (my jr high school colors were orange and bright blue), I’m starting to like orange and even bought a rust-colored sweater.

So we have blue sky and we’re just below freezing, with a high of just above freezing. I need to get dressed and pull some stuff out of the freezer in the cellar, go to the store for milk and whatever else I need (that’s why I have to go to the freezer first - not sure what’s in there) and then we’re going for a walk. Towels are sloshing away and there’s more paperwork and baking to be done in the afternoon. Lunch will probably be hot dogs at the beer place. And there will be beer.

Happy Saturday!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
When I was eating my tacos, some of the sauce dripped on the table. When I came back to clean it up, somebody was teabagging the sauce spot. He’s lucky it wasn’t Carolina Reaper, or he’d be singing Jerry Lee Lewis.

Synchronized burping would probably scare GG.

{{{{shoe}}}}

Jolene and GG.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 54 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 75 and cloudy. Feels cooler than that outside. OYKW wants to see if he can find some cheap chawklit today. I wished him luck and said knock yourself out. I want to hermit today. RDOS inactivities are my goal for the day. Sup will be majik intartoobz pizza and sallit.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 3c/37f with a predicted high of 4c/38f and cloudy. Weather app says “It’s fucking black over Bill’s mother’s fucking house today.” It’s definitely cloudy, and drizzly today. Not quite black over Bill’s mother’s though.

Thank you all for your concern about Shadow, to be honest I was prepared for an emergency vet visit today. I went to bed around 11pm and 'im indoors spent most of the night on the sofa with him as he’d had a couple of little “accidents” during the evening. This morning, Shadow seemed much more like his usual self, he was sitting in the junk room doorway as he’d been in there to use the litter tray. He followed me into the kitchen and had a healthy helping of salmon with his meds on it, he then used one of the other litter trays, and has come into the kitchen every time I’ve gone in there and had a bit more salmon. I am very happy to see him looking more like his usual self but we’ll continue to keep an eye on him. He’s due a vet visit on Tuesday for his arthritis shot so I’ll talk to them about what happened.

My biggest worry is that our beloved Ophelia had the same things going on, although she was much worse. She also had thyroid issues along with heart problems and what appeared to be feline dementia. She slept under the duvet on a little nest of towels and puppy pads as she would sometimes wee in her sleep. Shadow has the same thyroid meds and has a heart murmur (although not medicated yet), and yesterday he had a wee on the footstool while he was eating, and again on the floor while he was drinking from the water bowl. However, today he is eating and drinking normally, and using the litter trays so I’m hoping this was just a big blip for him.

Today’s agenda includes a trip to the pet store for cat litter and treats ('im indoors gets to do the lifting and carrying), and probably a wander into town for something or other. Then we are going out for a curry at our favourite local pub and then off to see Dreadzone - a bit of a departure from our usual kind of music!

Happy Saturday, everyone!

I had my Aerostar for close to 14 years, but it was so used and abused, I couldn’t keep it any longer, dammit. I really liked that van.

I have a car key, a key to Daughter’s house, and (I think) a key to our basement door, plus a couple of discount tags (Food Lion and BoatUSA) on my key ring. Since we always come and go via the garage, I don’t need a front door key, nor do we have one as far as I know.

In our 41+ years together, we’ve managed to pretty much ignore VD, apart from the joke about buying the car. Altho one year, I made heart-shaped cakes for each of us to take to work - both said “Happy VD!” Ah, the silliness of youth!

I remember seeing many such plates along I-95 south, especially when we lived in the Jacksonville area.

Some years back, we had a repair guy in for our washer. We were talking about replacing it the next time it acted up and he told us to avoid Maytag. Apparently the company was bought by another that wanted the reputation but started cheaping out on parts. He said many of the parts that used to be metal were now being made from plastic or nylon, so they failed more often. So we didn’t buy one as we had intended.

We’re promised mild temps this weekend (up to low 60s tomorrow) but lots of rain (possibly 1.5" all told) and very high winds tomorrow. So, in all, a soggy, unpleasant weekend. I’ll be running to Lowe’s and Mart Of Wal after lunch but not much else on the agenda. Perhaps some roll-suckage, and posslible even (brace yourselves) dustage! :open_mouth:

Speaking of shoulders, my right shoulder seems to be much better, despite kinda forgetting to do my exercise regularly. But I have been stretching it and as the aches diminish, I use that arm more, so I think I’ve unfrozen it. Guess I did right by not making an ortho appt (which I avoided because I HATE our local ortho practice.) I had a considerable pain in the butt yesterday, literally, and I’m pretty sure it was from when I cleaned the pellet stove. There was much up and down from being on my knees - just not used to that of late. I swear, this getting old crap doth truly sucketh the big green weenie!

But I’m completing caffeination, and eventually, I’ll shower and dress mostly like an adult. Then we’ll see what the day brings.

Happy Cheap Chocolate Day!!

This gave my as yet uncaffeinated self pause.

Morning all. Up early to go help get the indoor soccer setup a 7am, but turned out they had done 70% of the work last night, so was a quick visit. Have broken fast and have the first ofr two, maybe three loads of laundry working, so that should take care of the morning. Supposed to get near 70F today, but rain overnight will take us down to the 40’s tomorrow. Coach soccer this afternoon, but that’s about all I have planned.

Didn’t know you had bought a baby bed…

Shoe, pretty roses for a somber day; got some Valentine Day Snickers to give to the kids at soccer today, a day late but what the heck. Hope works is calmer tonight.

Me too, Cookie

boo fae, thanks for the update on Shadow; hope the improvement continues.

FCM, yay! on the shoulder doing better; seems like we’ve had a rash of bad shoulders here on the MMP lately.

And load #2 is in the washer while load #1 is spin-drying. Have a good Sattiday all.

Good morning.

It’s 36F and cloudy outside. It’ll be considerably cloudy all day, with afternoon rain showers and an expected high temperature of 44F.

Hippie, I’m so very sorry for the loss of your nieces.

Shoe, I’m sending you hugs.

BooFae, I’m glad the doctor provided a note stating that you shouldn’t work. Please get some rest. I’m also happy that Shadow seems to be acting more like his usual self.

VanGo, yay for an official job offer start date and new wheels!

I’m also happy to read the littles are feeling better.

I haven’t even been able to take a peek at the MPP this week, so I had a lot to catch up on. I know I missed a lot, but know that I’m sending appropriate yays, hugs, and boos.

This week has been god-awful. I’m exhausted; my gut is always full of acid, I’m angry, I’m grieving, and it’s just an awful mess of everything. They will not leave us alone, and I don’t know how much more I can take. We lost three excellent employees on the 13th who were released simply for being probationary. They are now coming after the rest of us.

I know many people care. One gentleman came to our building with boxes of cookies and a lovely card with a note stating how much he supported us and how badly he felt about the goings-on. Some of our staff members who deal with clients have received very supportive emails begging them not to give up.

However, the constant bombardment of nasty memos is awful. I flinch when I read some of them. We don’t deserve this.

Hubby wants to go to lunch today and find a new place to eat. In the past, I would have been excited about that. Now, I want to hibernate. I’ve been gone every day this week, and all I want to do is stay home. I should probably get out and about. I do have to go to the store to get more dog food. I gave the pups the last of it this morning.

Time to finish loading the dishwasher and sweep the floor. Take care.

No, you absolutely do not.

I’m taking a page from swampyand doing nothing today. I’ve had appointment every day this week. I’m tired and cranky. I MAY go to the gas station for Diet Dr Pepper. And that’s about it.

{{{shoe}}} It was sweet of the teen though.

Milk tends to get sold out when inclement weather is predicted. As far as the price of eggs in Switzerland, y’all don’t tend to have the factory egg farms that we do here. When diseases like avian flu strike, flocks in the tens of thousands have to be put down, the facilities sanitized and a new flock brought in. It takes the new flock several months to begin laying on a regular basis, so there are egg shortages that account for price increases. I usually switch to cage free eggs when that happens because they’re usually less expensive.

I thought the shelter took care of that before you brought Spot home.

I’m curious, VanGo, what kind of car did you get (if you mentioned it before, I missed it).

{{{taters}}}

I awoke around 0400 to the sound of crashing thunder booms and a neighbor across the fence’s car alarm going off (that’s a pretty regular occurrence). It’s still storming and will be for most of the day. I think I’ll follow swampy’s lead and do an RDOS day.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

{{{taters}}}

I’m very sorry you and your colleagues are going through this.

{{{taters}}} - I can’t even imagine. Hang in there and bitch in here - venting may help, even a little.

We’re just back from the marina. Our bimini gave up the ghost - the fabric dry-rotted and tore lose, so we unzipped what remained and tossed it into the dumpster. On the way home,we discussed alternatives, beyond “wear a hat on the fly bridge.” Yet another task to deal with.

I’ll be leaving in a couple of hours to do my erranding. Rain hasn’t started yet - I guess it’s waiting for me to be out there. Not that I’m a CT or anything, but, well, yanno…

I’m wondering if I should ever bother making supper again. We seem to be drifting towards breakfast for supper - cereal, french toast, omelets… But I’ve got a freezer full of chicken, poke, beef, and assorted seafood. Maybe those will become lunch?

Speaking of lunch, I should probably build a sammich soon - early breakfast means early lunch, too. Off to the kitchen!

Yes. Here, RNs are authorised to trim diabetics’ toenails. LPNs aren’t. Cosmetologists? Unlikely!

Did I post about Valentine’s Day? Sorry if I already did. We had our Valentine’s Dinner Out on Thursday, because every place around here was booked on Friday. So last night I did make the Angus rib-eyes I mentioned earlier, creamed spinach with feta, and reheated Yukon Gold mashed potatoes with garlic. After dinner I gave The Missus a card, and a box of six assorted chocolate truffles from Blaine Bouquets. They had nine kinds to choose from, but only six would fit in the box. She said she’s allowing herself one per night because they’re an indulgence. So she had the salted dark chocolate one and the coconut one. :stuck_out_tongue:

My key ring has a house key, the key to my Tacoma and an Apple Airtag.

When I was working I had two key rings. The other ring had ten keys that would open almost every make and model fire alarm panel. I had a coffee can in my van that had all of the fire alarm keys, all of the elevator control keys, a set of security door lock master keys and a plastic jar that held all of the door keys from customers that trusted us.

I haven’t been following your troubles. I’m assuming you’re a government employee whose job is in jeopardy? I really hope there is a gigantic class action suit at some time.

The heat is out in the building again while they try to fix a broken water pipe. There is a water remediation truck in the portico, so I’m assuming there was a flood somewhere from a broken pipe. I went out and bought a second Vornado space heater, as I don’t trust them to get this thing fixed in short order. I’m beginning to think we may want to look into other accommodations.
