(Old) Buddying With Allies in the MMP

I too don’t understand meds well. But I have a sister who was a pharmacist. I can always ask her. I hope your SIL doesn’t mess up the meds, but if you keep your eyes on it long enough then a routine would be established. Hope your brother’s pain gets manageable.

If you want a medication story to make you smile I was once, on the Dope here, helping to write one of those continuing stories, a western. A bad guy was planning to do away with one of his henchman by ODing him on laudanum. I called my pharmacist sister to ask how much an otherwise healthy adult man would have to take to be lethal. There was quiet on the phone, and sis kind of whispered “Why do you need to know?”

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s 33 degrees Ferret Height(Zero Centipedes). I assume the Supreme Shouting Officer will be doing her thing again.

I would have said Daniels.

I think I would have had more than one after that experience.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 3c/38f with a predicted high of 5c/41f and cloudy. Weather app limits itself to “Cloudy as fuck!” today. Well, it’s perfectly true, it’s cloudy and grey out there.

What a fabulous idea! All the calming benefits of a fishtank, without the faff  Sorry to hear about the specs though, I hope someone else found them who has the exact same prescription you have, but couldn’t afford nice frames.

Pilot good to see you back - congrats to you and BB on imminent cohabitation and cruising!

One of our other cats, Orly, used to sleep like that. Then she’d wake up and you’d get that “are those my legs?” look from her.

Ow! Ow! Ow! I am so sorry you’re suffering to much and haven’t been able to get any help. It’s good to have friends in high places (or even low places, sometimes). I hope you get the relief you need this time.

Sounds like you needed and deserved it after a trying day. I’m sure your SIL will be grateful for all the help and support, but her anxiety is getting the better of her right now. She’d better not murder you in your sleep, she’ll have a world of mumpers to deal with!

Yesterday evening was busy, I logged out of irk and decided to make cottage pie for dinner - it’s a three stage process to make the filling, mash some spuds for the top, and then bake it. Worth the faff though, it will last me most of the week and I have various veggies to accompany it. After that, and some dishwashing, I had some sofa time with Shadow and Blossom (Shadow on my lap, Blossom beside me) before retiring to bed (Cherry comes up for snuggles then).

I’ve been trying to rest my shoulder as much as I can but it’s still hurting so I filled in the e-triage form for my GP surgery. It’s really hard to get through to them by phone so I did the form, and they called back to offer me an appointment tomorrow morning. So off to the surgery I shall go.

I also had to empty all the bins yesterday evening and haul the biiiiiig bin out to the kerb for collection, which happened before 7am today. I ventured out to haul the biiiiig bin back to where it lives so that’s all the outdoor stuff I need to do today.

I’m hoping for another quiet irk-day, then I’ve got to make food for a couple of days on campus. I won’t be going tomorrow as I’ve got the doc’s first thing but I’ll make food for three days as I can use it here just as easily as using it there.

Now I need a cup of tea and a bit of a rest.

I think I know what’s on tonight’s menu - thanks!

nellie - sending you some virtual hugs because you deserve some. :people_hugging: I’m sure the stress exacerbates the negative side of your SIL’s personality, but then you probably know that too. Try not to axe-murder her in her sleep!

The continuing saga of BIL - he’s back in the Behavioral Unit at the hospital. They won’t tell us anything except that he’s there - in fact, FCD had to call and ask because we weren’t notified. The clue was that all calls to BIL went right to voice mail. We’re pretty sure this is all because of the eviction notice. On one hand, I feel for him because of a lifetime of mental problems, but on the other hand, I’m pissed at his parents for enabling him his whole life. Not that we can do anything about any of that. We just have to wait and see where things go from here. Dammit.

The wrangling of the grands last night went pretty well. I even managed to get both of them down early. Daughter and SIL got home just after midnight and SIL drove me home. He’s a night person and today’s his day off, so that worked out. I wish FCD had gone to bed early when I told him, but he didn’t and now he’s on his way to his Dr appt in the zombie mode. I hope he talks to her about all his stress. I’m at a loss.

The forecast for the impending storm today and tonight is all over the place! Except I suspect some of the sites are projecting the DC area forecast to include us. The one that seemed more localized to this area was saying 2-6" while others were predicting 8" or more. So who knows?? Then tomorrow, rain is supposed to move in - is there any sense in shoveling? Stay tuned… If nothing else, I have the contact info for the guy who plowed for us last time. Anyway, we’re looking at an early afternoon start.

I expect to doze off in my recliner at some point today, since I got less than 5 hours of sleep. I guess we’ll see how it all goes.

Happy Tuesday, such as it is. :stuck_out_tongue:

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN I was a slug abed until seven-fifteen. :bed: ‘Tis 57 Amurrkin out and foggy with a predicted high of 72 and cloudy. We will be RDOS sloths again today cause why not. Sup shall be leftovers from yestiddy.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Well. . .each batch has a half pound of butter, a cup of white sugar and a cup of brown sugar, so there’s that.

That’s about 75 minutes up the road in Lynchburg…

Good morning all. Up about 6:30am for a bladder alert and am awaiting the approaching rain. Looking at the weather map, It looks like this weather runs from Texas up to Maryland and over into Ohio, so looks like a lot of Mumpers will be wet and/or snowy today. It’s 54F and they are telling us the high will be…55F so this is about the best I’m going to get. Do have to pick up prescriptions this afternoon and may try to get to the gym later in the day. Otherwise sloth will be the order of the day.

nellie, a stressful time, hope you get a good pill schedule done and they follow it. Hang in there.

Cupcakes, nice story; I imagine your sister likes telling it too.

Boo Fae, hope the shoulder is something minor.

FCM, I’m afraid that BIL will be a thorn in your (and especially FCD’s) side for the foreseeable future, hope it doesn’t get too bad.

And I can hear the rain starting outside. We’ll see how long it lasts. Have a good 2sDay all.

Oh my goodness, it doesn’t sound like you are having a great time. Everything sounds so stressful, your poor SIL is probably very frightened.

I do hope things calm down now that the surgery is over and your brother is home.

“I’m a professional, I might know something better”

hehehehe

Well, dang. I hope nothings permanently damaged.

Can they keep him? It’s pretty obvious that its too late for him to develop any sort of coping skills and can’t take care of himself.

They are redeemed!

The weather is here, it’s 31F and there are already three inches of snow on the steps and it is still falling. For a while we were getting those big flakes which just mesmerized GG, but now it’s back to smaller flakes. I haven’t seen any snowplows yet so the PTB must have them working in town. Chances are fair that I will change my mind about going to Charleston today. If we have three inches here, there is probably twice that in Charleston.

Well, I think I’ll put some bird seed out and then make another cup of coffee.

Stay warm everyone!

Here in western Mitten State it is currently “holy gawds it’s bright!!” weather :dark_sunglasses: but The Oracles are promising 3-5 inches of white fluff by sometime tomorrow, so I assume it’ll get overcast soon.

For now, the heat is off & the side door is open for Monkey & my 10-year old potted Meyer lemon (the last gift My Other Shoe gave me, so it’s kinda got sentimental value) is having a “sunshine vacation” while I get all mushy over the first blossom that’s just starting to bud.

It bore fruit while in the heat of hell Texas, but up here, I’m happy simply to keep it alive.

Is that pronounced like “Oh, really?”

In the time it took me to leisurely read/respond, the sun disappeared. Went to go close the door, and lo, the first tiny :snowflake: are starting to drift gently down.

Fast change!

It briefly sleeted on the way to work. There was much chaos and shouting from The Supreme Shouting Officer, but it went more smoothly than yesterday. Boy can we wear out the Screw Up Fairy. It is cold and gray outside.

Wait, no denying of the claim? No 64 page prior authorization forms to be filled out in Klingon, and notorized by Baal? Just like go a see a doc when you are injured?

Oy. Sorry this is going to be a bother.

Don’t confuse the two, or your beverage will taste cheep.

{ rolls up 64-page wad of authorization forms }

It’s part of the hospital, not a long-term care facility. But since it’s happened again, I’m hoping they’ll expedite moving him into a controlled environment… if there’s such a place with space available.

Weather radar says it’s been snowing here for an hour. I have yet to see a flake of any size, or raindrops, or anything. FCD is snoozing after taking a muscle relaxer and I’ve been watching more Death in Paradise. And I shall get back to that after this post.

It’s hovering around 40° - not sure how that bodes for accumulation on paved surfaces. I guess we’ll see once it starts snowing. Meanwhile, back to my recliner.

Made waffles this morning on our 40-year old Toastmaster waffle iron. It’s indestructible, apparently. But I think cornmeal pancakes have ruined waffles for me as a breakfast treat. Compared to the cakes, ordinary waffles are bland and tasteless. I’ll probably turn the leftovers into a dessert with strawberries and whipped cream or something.

It’s a very slow day at chez nous. Even Sadie is sacked out for the morning. I think there is a meeting I’m supposed to go to this afternoon about arts & crafts or something. I have zero interest in it at this point. Maybe I’ll send Sadie.

The people down the hall were shouting at each other last night. Neither of them is in the best of physical or mental health. This morning I saw what looked like medical types knocking on their door, so perhaps they’re not long for this facility.

Sounds to me like you need to make cornmeal waffles occasionally.

Hello, brilliant people! (Don’t look around, I’m talking to you!)

I think chai tea is more my speed.
I had a bad night of sleep. I forgot to take my bedtime meds before going to bed, so the Parkinson’s took over at about 2:10 AM, starting with leg cramps, then clenched hands. I fought that with meditative relaxation for a while. When I finally woke up fully enough to figure out what happened, I got up and took the meds, did some stretches, and went back to bed to ride the storm out until the pills kicked in. When the alarm went off, I was tired and sore. Even now, my legs are a little jittery.
My lovely wite is doing a presentation on Poshmark in the other room as I slowly type this. She’s selling purses and jewelry.
I’ll talk to you later. If you can’t behave, bedeck.

And it’s the afternoon here in Ali-bama, still raining with no letup in sight. ave just had a mid-day meal of pancakes and bacon, since I am old and am supposed to be eccentric… Made a Drs. appointment for Thursday, my urine output for Monday was back over 4,000ml (4 liters) and it’ll go over 2,000ml the next time I have to go today. Maybe it’s something I’ll just have to live with but figure I’d better get it checked out, now that I have some real data on it.

JtC, probably best you stay safe given the amount of snow falling.

FCM, suspect the snow will be arriving shortly, looking at the Weather Underground map.

Knots, that sounds like a pretty miserable night. Take care of yourself today.

And onwards I go into the afternoon.

Yeah, I’ve always used the old Betty Crocker recipe, which uses oil instead of butter and has no sugar or vanilla at all. Don’t ask me why. And there’s no reason not to include some cornmeal. Take that, Betty!

Who knows better? A guy with Chef in his name, or some imaginary cartoon character older than your great grandmother? Invent forth!

Welp … Around here the baggage has been packed and weighed, the check-in for flights is done, and all that remains is RDOSing through today, running the sheets & towels laundry the maids created this morning, a good sleep, sorta early get-up, and the ~20 hour drone from wake-up to next real bed.

I see JFK is expecting wintry mix Wed night. We’re passing through late afternoon - dinnertime and ought to miss the worst of it. Unless it arrives early or we arrive/depart late. My main emotion about that is gloating that It’s not my problem! "Haah there, Mr. fancy young pilot! You deal with it; I’ll be sipping a Scotch. Neener neener! :stuck_out_tongue:

IT’S BASEBALL SEASON!!! :baseball:  Pitchers and catchers reported for spring training today! My NY Yankees sign is back on the front door for the next 7-8 months!

I’d just finished typing “the snow is supposed to start any minute now” when I saw the first flurries of the day! :snowflake: It will get heavier this evening and isn’t supposed to stop until the wee hours of the moring, but the expected accumulation total is still a great unknown. The consensus seems to be 3-6", but we could get anywhere from 1"-10". The county schools closed three hours early today, just to be on the safe side. I moved my car to the end of the driveway last night, and have done all of the other “storm” prep I can think of: now there’s nothing left to do but to watch the snow fall and see what tomorrow brings.

Ha! :joy:

Genius! My electric toothbrush wouldn’t fit in one of those tubes, but I’ll have to remember that.

LOL!

Whenever we’re at a restaurant, after the server takes our order and starts to walk away HusbandBFF says, “We’ll wait here.”

Every. Time. :woman_facepalming:

Dentures…?

I’m only kind of joking!

Phew! But oh my, what you’ve been/are going through… :people_hugging:

Good for you for seeking treatment vs toughing it out and possibly making things worse! You get a gold star! :star:

Ugh. :frowning:

I am so stealing this!

That actually made me laugh out loud! Have an excellent trip.

I figure it started here around 1:30 or so. It’s not heavy yet, but a bit more than what I’d call flurries. FCD filled his car earlier today and we don’t need to go anywhere, other than a stroll down to the mailbox.

I think it’s 2 hours early here, but I didn’t bother looking since it’s not my problem. :stuck_out_tongue:

And I just looked out the window - it’s coming down a bit heavier now. Here’s hoping the accumulation isn’t more than the lower end of their estimates. Stoopit snow.
