(Old) Buddying With Allies in the MMP

Last I checked, about a month ago, RSV is once and done, at least as far as is known now.

Oops, that’s supposed to be 8 inches of snow. My post surgery eyes’ reach exceeds their grasp. It’ll be a month at least before it settles down and I can get new eyeglasses. I’ll try to not whine about it too much if y’all can keep being patient with my typos.

Evening all. It’s 6pm eastern and I’m offshore south of New England on the way to Amsterdam. will be about 6-1/2 hours in the air so we get there around midnight US east coast time, but 6am there. Then one more plane change and another 2-ish hour flight & we’ll be in Bergen Norway. Where we will meet the ship in a couple days.

It was warm and sunny this morning in Miami; sorta hated to leave those conditions. Now no snow up here at altitude  Passing through JFK in NYC an hour-ish ago a couple hours before sunset it was mid 30s, gray, light wind, with a couple inches of snow on the ground and generally dry pavement. The glop was due to arrive later that evening.

Had a bit of a close call in that our flight left Miami almost 2 hours late. We knew the airplane arrived late from wherever, but not why. Which delay ate most of our planned 2h30m connection in JFK. But we got off the one plane, hiked promptly down the corridor, hopped on the other one, got settled for a few minutes, and they pushed off right on time. No real sweat, but we could not have withstood much else going wrong.

But we did have a very nice extended sit in the club in MIA. Golly is BB just a wonderful person.

About to feed, then nap a bit, then deal with that next flight and ouor eventual arrival at a hotel. I expect the rest of that day (the 13th) to be a combo of naps, jet lag, and … festivities. We’ll start touristing in earnest on the 14th.

That’s too cold for man or beast.

Holy crap! Nothing like remembering when you were expecting SenGirl and realize that she’s 16 now. I hope that she enjoys her exchange experience.

Awwwwww…

Like doggio, I only irked a partial shift for lack of irk. I got out after 7 hours, so I came home and began the cut work on my Easter cards.

I ordered one of those old lady fasten-in-front bras about a month ago. It came in a couple of days ago (yeah, they use slow shippers) and I wore it today. It fit everywhere but the shoulders. I would have to be an NFL linebacker to have shoulders broad enough for those straps. Time to go back to Lane Bryant / Cacique to get fitted and find another front fastening style. Damned shoulders that just don’t work behind my back as well as they used to.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

She does look comfy, doesn’t she?

I’m glad you were able to WFH, snow isn’t really that bad to drive through, ice is terrifying.

That sounds horrifying. Just the thought of being in a crowd that size is giving me heart palpitations, I’d probably hyperventilate and panic out just seeing something like that.

I hope everyone has fun and nobody gets hurt.

I should have named him Westley, because the only thing he ever says to her is As You Wish. We are so happy that it worked out so well.

Hubs is home now and Jolene is with him. GG is in his bed under the loveseat, but that’s not a hiding place, it is his den and safe spot. If he can’t have Jolene, he sticks close to me. Its good to be needed.

I hope you find another card for your hubby, but I’m guessing the words have been memorized by now, it is the card itself that was important. I do hope it shows back up. Check between the car seat and the console, so many things of mine get lost down there.

Dude! You just stinkin’ rock!!!

:star:

That certainly looks like a great way to waste a whole bunch of time, thank you! I don’t follow their facebook account, they have others that I try to keep up with. Once of my fav things to do is play “find the kitty” when I see cat furniture in the pics.

I’ve had thyroid cats, it really isn’t that hard to treat and they can live a good long time. You will be more stressed than her no matter what happens.

Sighs with you. They sure don’t make them like that anymore.

I am crossing my fingers so hard for you.

I agree. It is much better for them to take time off work now than later. While I miss Hubs when he’s gone (and I certainly do not trust him at all), I understand why he wants to be there. I’m willing to drive back and forth to visit, his family knows that I’m with them in spirit but also understand that hotel rooms and pet sitters are expensive so don’t bitch when I’m leaving. (Or maybe they just don’t like me and are too polite to tell me to go away!)

That is adorable

As mentioned above, Hubs is home until Monday unless things go south. He wants to go to Hillbilly Hotdogs tomorrow and I’m sure that one of us will have a Mothman Dog just so I can come back and brag about it.

That should take a good 4 hours, hopefully the fuzzbutts won’t get too upset that both of us are gone this time.

That really does bite. I’m still doing my best to keep him busy, what can we do to help keep Nelson in dog fud?

Howdy Y’all! We’ve been home from the church house doin’s for a bit. The fried catfish was really good. The cheese grits, slaw and hush puppies were also good, as was the chawklit cake with strawberries and whipped cream. The hush puppies were not homemade as they were too perfectly round to have been. Fine by me as I have never been able to make the dang things right.

Cookie you get a gold star. :star2:

BooFae enjoy your doctor prescribed two weeks of bein’ a RDOS.

That’s so kind! I do bank some PTO ahead for this time of year, when weather, illness or lack of work tend to happen. Nelson won’t be forced on a diet of Ol’ Roy anytime soon.

Up from naptime. Spot has batted 3 ice cubes under assorted appliances. I’m having a martini, and watching the Four Nations Faceoff. Dinner tonight is chicken and cavatappi with defrosted homemade sauce.

I have a chunk of the hockey ones saved.

Neither do I.

Also the water pump(speaking from vast experience)

Enjoy, and glad youu two mostly outran the SNAFU Fairy.

“I still expect you in today” -most bosses

Well, my building is hit by a perfect storm of the new Garner building taking volume, no Surepost, and all the Federal/State/County/Local/University/Non-profit clients being affected by Administration moves.

< grumbles about dragging a 116lbs. mattress off a moving belt onto an overloaded package car >

It’s OK, it doesn’t come filled with water! I can move the bladders myself and I’m not nearly as young as you.

I hadn’t thought about the political shitstorm that is happening. There is a very good reason I’m limiting my online time so much. I can forget about it for hours at a time. I’ve made the calls and sent the emails, now I’m just stocking up on meat and cat fud/litter. Ain’t nothing going to get cheaper in the next couple of years.

Hey are you calling me a Hoth tauntaun?

Ever since Covid, WFH has been an option. In bad weather my boss says “That’s what the WFH policy is for.” A lot of my work is online now. No trips to the law library needed — can do most of my research online, then write my stuff up.

Not meaning to scare-brag about our cold weather. Sounds like a lot of you are dealing with bad weather as well. What is significant is how far a deviation from the local norm it is. Hope everyone comes through okay.

I did manage to get the formatting of my English and French docs done, so they’re pretty much ready for the next person in line. Gave them to him on Monday to work on.

I meant to say about the last thread: that’s some mighty fine quilting!

Oh please. You should have heard me during the summer back when I lived in AZ!

Keep sharing, we love knowing that someone has it worse than us, LOL!!!

BBBoo thanks for the info on the RSV

I pretty much thought it was 8 inches but just was trying to tease you a little bit. Although there really was 8 feet of snow in West Allis.

We’ve had some single digit temps but that’s not unusual and the quantity of single digit days has been low. What’s somewhat unusual is the low volume of snow that we’ve had. I’m glad we’re getting some snow; my friend said we could go snowshoeing, perhaps on Friday. Yay. Wish I could go cross-country skiing.
so swampy, please stop saying the snow is evil. :slightly_smiling_face:

If it is, I live in Dr Evil’s rumpus room.

Yes, it’s much better to have a soft landing than a rough one.

Yesterday, she had a couple of problems with her trip, including a gate change and such, but fortunately she had a wifi connection and we could talk. She’s now in the air somewhere over Asia so we’ve got our fingers crossed.

Boo, what’s the difference between RSV, flu or Covid? Why no boosters needed for RSV?

Definitely not a fit night out…

BBBoo, patience is my middle name (actually it’s John, but who’s worried about a little error…).

Pilot, safe travel and happy cruising. Schipol is one of my favorite airports.

Reminds me of the best connection I ever had. Was flying from Manila, Phillipines to Narita airport in Japan and then home, but was delayed leaving Manila and only had 30 minutes or so to connect in a pretty busy and very large airport. Got off my flight and…walked over to the next gate for my homeward flight. Didn’t always work out that way, of course…

I second that.

Did a little pedaling and have the garbage bin at the curb and all the dishes are in their proper places so I can get them dirty again. Have had 3 reminders, by phone, e-mail and text of my Drs. appointment tomorrow, must have a lot of no-shows…

And that’s all i have for the late-night final. Take care all.

Wasn’t able to take the recycling wheelie bin out for today’s pickup.

Latch on our back gate to the alley is frozen and I couldn’t open the gate.

Practised a bit of Welsh on Duolingo and off to bed.

I had about an 3/4 of an inch of snow, decided to go out to get a burger from the Pines. The road back up to my place is kinda steep, and my rental malibu did not like that. I need a real car.

Wind is howling now, windows are rattling, the whole deal. Hoping trees don’t fall on the house.

I assumed that meant you hit the latch on the frozen gate with a hammer. But then I remembered what duolingo was. After my travails with the garage door getting frozen shut, yeah, I’d go to hammer.

We got five inches here, so only the main streets will be plowed. The city only does the side and residential streets if we get 6 inches.
