(Old) Can You Hear that Cranberry "Schloop"? - A Thanksgiving MMP

The St. Vincent’s out this way would be happy to have them. They have a DME lending bank and accept that sort of thing. Maybe check your thrift stores again?

We are finally going to have our turkey today. Last night’s BBQ was fun and it was good to see everyone again, but I took myself to the motel around 830 and hubs ended up sleeping on a couch. We had a nice huevos rancheros with fried homemade chorizo and fried potatoes before leaving and I drove home because hubs isn’t used to partying all night anymore either.

The cats survived. They didn’t starve and their litterboxes didn’t overflow. VBC left piggy, sock monkey and Draco on my pillow but I didn’t feel that guilty about not being there, I’m a baaaaad kitty mommie.

Hopefully that will happen soon. I still think he should get a golf cart for going to work and back. It wouldn’t be that comfortable when he gets off late at night, but at least you would be able to sleep through the night.

Happy adoptiversary Allie. You are one of the lucky ones!

We have been with State Farm since forever and when I retired hubs shopped around and then told our agent what he found and strangely enough, our agent found us those discounts as well to stop us from leaving.

Welcome home! Good sleep is so underrated, but so important. I’m glad you got some

Very cute! Do you come up with the designs yourself?

Just too cute for words!!!

That is always an omen. Good luck!

Oh, super clever! I’m not that creative, but I have incorporated costume jewelry and other bits and bobs over the years.

I’m super excited for you, HURRAY!!!

Hubs just started the smoker, and he says he’s going to butterfly the turkey this year. According to the interwebz, this will make it easier to cook all of the meat evenly. I’ll post pics…

That is just so rude. I never thought about turning my wipers off at the drive-thru before you brought it up so you helped some fast food workers in AZ…but even when I was smoking tobacco, I would never smoke anything at the window. Nobody wants me polluting their air, that’s just super rude.

Turkey has now been butterflied and is in the smoker. We are eating deviled eggs to stave off starvation and GG is licking his favorite piece of parchment paper. He has two, one crumbled up ball for pouncing and one long strip for licking. Cats is weird.

Late afternoon here. Had solo breakfast out early, golf practiced, sheveled, and napped while Her Ladyship slept then worked out herself. Then we mini-grocced and bought a Christmas wreath for our door. Later today we expect to erect the Christmas tree and decorations we got a couple weeks ago.

It was sunny first thing but turned to drizzle as we got home from wreath-buying and is now raining steadily. Still warm: 80/27 right now with the overnight low expected to be 72/22.

Back around 1990 when I was 30-ish & newly married the younger couple next door had a ~2yo. She had worked as a CPA before the kid was born. She said she’d done the math. Day care would consume 100% of her take-home pay, so she saw no reason to work and did the SAHM thing instead.

It’s not a new problem, but it is a significant one.

A swamp cooler is not a good situation in Tucson for sure. I grew up in SoCal through college, lived 1 year in Phoenix, and 10 in Las Vegas. Desert is not my favorite climate, but I’ll take hot over cold any / every day. If 75 is ideal, I’ll happily take 30 extra degrees at 105 before I’ll take 30 too few degrees at 45. And for me personally, 75 is only ideal if the sun is shining and there’s no wind. If either of those is not true, kick it up to 80 and then I’ll be happy … enough.

That could be really interesting or really scary.

Yes, this. It almost makes sense in spots. And the vexation comes through crystal clear, and that’s what really matters.

Hooray! I can see those two will be no trouble at all. Pure serenity and calm peacefulness shall be yours.

Yaay! That is a fun group. I’d enjoy seeing them again, but we’re some distance from their usual touring haunts.

I mentioned this upthread or last week, but if you’re a brass fan you’re especially likely to enjoy the wonderful and very silly TUBACHRISTMAS.

I asked a cousin if she remembered them. She said ‘[Our aunt] gave me a tote with fixin’s but I haven’t made any yet.’ I’m hoping one of my cousins has one they could take a picture of.

We got a lot of snow that started yesterday afternoon while still at my sister’s house for the big family dinner. Unbeknownst to me it got worse overnight and when I went out to my car to get deheathenized I couldn’t get it started right away. I was supposed to be there early because I was to be a greeter today, but nooooooo. I did watch the livestream of our service though, and it seems I wasn’t alone in not getting out. It was Cthrist the King Sunday, the last Sunday of the Church year, and a couple of my favorite hymns were being sung. Darn.

Did get the car cleared off and the car started a couple of hours later and managed to get to the grocery store. Was surprised at thow many people were shopping the weekend after the huge feasting, and the snow.

No, it was my spin on a Pinterest card.

wet one, I have a lot of Stampin’ Up, but it’s all been in CL or MP deals. Folks get into it for a little bit, make a few cards, then move on to something else.

Buster and Maisie are adorable taters!

Glad the house will be closed by the new year sari.

Got the Sunday chores done, took Nelson to the dog park and messed around in the studio today. Supper is beef stew, made from Thanksgiving’s leftovers. 'Tis good.

And a good late afternoon to all. Did the grocery shopping so my freezer has been fully restocked and the meatloaf at Logan’s Roadhouse is still as good as ever, so I am quite content. After dinner I went over to the BJ’s warehouse store to look around, probably has sizes that too large for a single person, but did pick up a couple of things and ended up paying nothing as I had a credit given to be when I signed up, so that was a nice surprise. All stuff from my travels have been unpacked and luggage stowed until the next time. No snow down in N. Ali-bama, but did rain on and off most of the day and is still very cloudy out.

taters, those are beautiful pics of some beautiful pups. Like the names too.

Baker, glad the car started, mine is garaged but I am getting the message that my tires need air due to the cold nights (if the air pressure gets below 30psi, the warning alerts me). And yeah, the Kroger was pretty busy for a Sunday morning.\

JtC, hope the turkey was worth the wait.

I have enough braunschweiger (liver sausage) for a couple of weeks, then need to make my trip up to the store that carries it. And that sounds like a wonderful B-day gift for your daughter.

Oopsie. lovely calendar. Enjoy the show.

FCM, the card does alright and I don’t have any issue with the bank, just the website. May call them sometime this week to ask what’s going on.

Ok, need to watch a little tackleball and think about getting some dinner. All y’all take care.

I cleaned. I took out the recycling and trash. i watched less bad handegg, and hoping this hockey game isn’t as horrible as Friday’s was. Sipping a Wisconsin Old Fashioned.

SQUEEEEEEEEEEE!

Silence is golden. Unless you have a puppy, then it is very suspicious.

Yippie Ki Yay!

Social Security is about the only reason to do it at that cost.

Very interesting.

Spot’s favorite Sunday afternoon activity is licking ear wax off of my pinkie.

Howdy Y’all! It’s been a lovely day indoors while the HEAVY RAIN poured down outdoors. I deheathenated online. I figured I’d see a slim crowd, but a lot more folk were there than I expected, so, yay for that, I guess. After that we had a brunch of French toast and thick cut apple wood smoked bacon. I can’t even remember the last time I made or even et French toast. It was so nummy. Oh and we had mimosas cause we’re gay and must have mimosas with brunch. It’s one of the rules. That was followed by nappage. Nappage was followed by watchin’ the last few episodes of Six Feet Under. We almost gave up on it halfway th*rough the series cause it got a little stoopid, but then it got better, so glad we stuck it out. Next up is what I am told is the last season of The Crown.

Taters I already commented over on the book of faces, but Maisie and Buster are cut overload puppehs!

Sari can’t remember whether or not I already commented, but yay of the house sell!

CupCakes glad you got your wheels started. I agree about Christ The King Sunday always havin’ some good hymns, especially Crown Him With Many Crowns. Have to sing that one big!

Oopsie hope you are enjoyin’ or enjoyed the concert.

red you got some mad card makin’ skilz!

I am becomin’ a little fluid in Brown from readin’ doggio’s posts.

JtC hope y’all enjoyed the turkey. I like smoked turkey.

To all of y’all gettin’ snow, better thee than me.

It was pretty good and the interwebz were right, it did seem to cook more evenly.

Imgur

GG has learned that he likes turkey. I’m really sorry we gave him some, he is big enough to open the fridge and help himself.

Cats is weird and gross!!!

That’s still very clever and very well done. I understand most artists get their inspiration from other sources as well.

Good thing he doesn’t usually have enough brain cells operating at a time to figure out how.

What?? Swampy & OYKW are gay??

When I watched the livestream of the service that was the first hymn of course! I remember hearing it sung in a movie once. The old, old black and white version of Little Lord Fauntleroy with Freddy Bartholomew and C. Aubrey Smith. The old lord didn’t go to church often it seems but he didn’t want to scandalize his grandson who it seems expected to attend services every Sunday. That was the opening hymn, one not often heard in movies.

Jane, I started salivating when I saw the picture of the turkey.

It is SUCH a good thing that VBC doesn’t like turkey…cause she has been known to convince GG to do bad things for her.

Hey, wait, what?!? When did that happen???

Ol’ You Know Who, I finally figured it out, LOL!

It was very good and carving it wasn’t any harder than carving an upright bird. We will do it again.

Clean up has been finished and the dishwasher is slogging along. Hubs loaded and started it for me which was very nice of him. He didn’t do it like I would have, so another load will be started in an hour, but I certainly am not going to breathe a word of that to him, so you guys need to hold it down too.

It’s supposed to be cold and dry again tomorrow and I’m going to try divinity again. I know what my problem with it is and I kinda know how to correct it*, but I’m not going to buy shelled pecans at over 12 bucks a pound again until I’m sure I have it right. I’ll roast and chop some shelled walnuts I already have instead.

*I don’t know how to use the mixer, it is much more powerful than I am used to and I keep turning it up too high. It’s like I spent my whole life driving a little golf cart that wouldn’t go faster than 10 mph, then suddenly was given a high performance car to drive instead. The sudden power available at a touch is just not what I am used to.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s raining, Also, they sent a text to everybody reminding everyone about start time and the six day thing, so it might be exceptionally FUBAR today.

“six day thing”?
