(Old) Canada's Thanksgiving begins the holiday season in the MMP!

Won’t do any good with the folders. :stuck_out_tongue:

One of my friends who throws pots checks out rubber stamps at the thrift store for interesting images to emboss on her pots. I actually used to give her some that didn’t work out for my style.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. After that, I’ll run a load of laundry, get sheveled and start on my poster. I have a pretty good idea of the layout, I just need to cut the pieces, adhere them and mount the poster on a yardstick.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

That did me in this past summer. I gained 10# on the cruise because of the damned dessert offerings. I have an over-developed sweet tooth. Fortunately, I’ve shed those 10 plus more since getting back. It’s easier to resist sweets if you don’t keep any in the house. Dammit.

HVAC tech has come and gone. All is well, so barring a failure, we’ll see a tech come spring for our summer tune-up. Just back from taking Otis around the block. At the end of our street, we almost encountered a man walking a german shepherd that wanted a piece of Otis. We scampered down one way and he went another. Wish I could have asked him if this is his usual walk time. Oh well…

FCD went to the boat to install a fitting somewhere in the fuel system. He’ll be home when he gets here. I need to go check the dryer now - the jeans should be done and the shirts can go in. That’s the last of it.

That’s the beginning of a Gordon Lightfoot song!

I don’t. I’ll have one square (⅓ serving) of Trader Joe’s Pound Plus Dark Chocolate most nights. It’s only 72% cacao. It would be better if it were 92% or 94%.

I probably need some breakfast. I looked in the fridge, and there are a couple of leftover pork chops. But I’ll probably just have a couple of slices of low-carb multigrain toast.

Looks more like a puncture. I’ve looked at that part of the carpet and can’t find any reason for it. Perhaps an errant claw shed by the cat? Dunno, but my foot is tender even today. At least I had an excuse not to help do laundry today. Or go to exercise.

Flu and COVID vaxes in about an hour. The wife always has a reaction to them. Mine is normally mild, with some soreness.

The damn paper wasn’t delivered today. A call reveals that we hadn’t paid. Okay, so where is the notice of payment due? This has happened several times with this outfit. Now I’m going through crossword withdrawal and will have to steal the puzzle section out of the communal copy in the lobby.

Breakfast was savory oatmeal and a peach yogurt cup, which was satisfying.

Morning all. I has been an interesting morning to say the least, starting with sleeping in until 8am. Then did my Firday Kroger shopping with an extra stop for Little Debbie Apple Pies at the Wal-Mark Grocery up the road. Couple of events; was stopped by a lady in the parking lot in Kroger to thank me for refereeing the kids at soccer games, I was touched, maybe a little less when she said they were now in College (I already know I’m old!). Then as I was coming out of Wal-Mart with the cart to put back in the racks, I saw a older lady coming in and getting ready to get one, so I caught her eye and slowly sent the cart her way. She corralled it in stride and with a ‘thank you’ headed into the store. Small things, but they made for a pleasant start for the day.

Then got home, had sammiches, did a little house-irk and climbed onto the internet…where I found out my new car had arrived! Called the dealership and will pick it up Monday about Noontime. So today is getting the insurance right, arranging for the bank check, and cleaning out my old car and getting an estimate from CarMax. So a fairly busy day in store.

Will try to catch up now, don’t know when I’ll be back on.

doggio, I will not be blowing anything up to honor St. Ignatius, but feel free to do so in my stead…

wolfie, no Xmas lights here yet (to be fair, it is still reaching 80F daily, so not much reason to do so). Several yards do have Halloween-themed stuff out.

boo fae, employee will probably get her new chair and then complain how long it took to get her old one replaced…it never ends… Hope you keep feeling better.

swampy, happy mowage. We’re due to get rain early Sunday so I have a good excuse this weekend.

FCM, thanks for asking about the carriage horses, you watch old western movies and it seems like those stagecoach horses could go a couple hundred miles without stopping. Hope the HVAC servicing went without a hitch (and I see it did). And I do try to mind my sweet tooth, but like you say, it is extra-hard to do on cruises (gained 7lbs on mine).

Piper, I agreed, it’s always nice to be able to eat at a place that you couldn’t afford as a student (or low-pay worker).

flyboy, my weight went down about 6-7lbs recently, I need to put a few more back on. Have my 38" waist jeans on for the first time and they fit OK, so there is that.

Now I (and I expect all Mumpers) know what you mean, but it does sound a bit odd when saying it…

Cookie, excuses are good. Getting hurt is not. Keep Calm and Vax On.

ANd need to get into action, first Insurance and then bank. Take care all.

SSR — new cars are always exciting!

Spent the morning wandering the old town and taking pictures of things I didn’t appreciate when I was here before. I’ve learnt more about it than when I was here.

Did the 100 and 200 Slides today. It just got up to 60 degrees Ferret hieght now, so it was a chilly sort. I got laundry in the washer, dry flavorless bits in my stomach, and it’s about to be naptime.

Time to get drunk and fight the inflatables.

Some people really Marie Kondo their unhappiness.

Spot’s getting better with strangers too. Now he sits and glares at them instead of running and hiding.

There are a couple of bunnies by the pool.

ooooh, that is progress! i’m sure he is thinking “get out!” “leave!” “flee from my death laser!”.

Evening.

I spotted through the window that one of my neighbours already had a tree and decorations up inside- I don’t know them, but if no-one else eggs the house for halloween, I might. Christmas is not 1/4 of the year, dammit.

In other news, I finally got some stuff in the lab that I’ve been wrestling with for over a month to work- well, my former office mate did, despite it being in no way her job. I owe her big time.

Happy Friday! I have about 10 minutes before I have to leave, so this’ll be short (and the crowds cheer). I just wanted to pop in and say hi. I’m about 120 posts behind but hope to catch up later.

Dogs are now running my life. Also a cat. I love 'em, but it’s hard to have adult conversations with them. Asking “Will the Mideast peace deal last?” and “Are you hungry? Hungry?” get the same puzzled head tilt.

Ethical dilemma: the woman whose vicious dog bit a worker and whose lease was up 10/7 got her lease extended for a month. The office thinks she got rid of that dog, but she hasn’t. Part of me thinks I should tell the manager because someone else could get hurt, and part says if they were foolish enough to give her another month, they’re obviously not too concerned. I’m leaning toward minding my own business, but I’m uneasy. Thoughts?

My nephew with the OCD really upset my sister by trying to put her in the middle of a long-running dispute he’s having. This is the same sister who was recently scammed, and she’s emotionally pretty fragile. I’ve been spending a lot of time on the phone with her. I spent 2.5 hours on the phone with him Wednesday, about .5 hours of which was telling him to knock it the f— off. He refused to promise, but I think he will cease temporarily, as I’m the only one besides his mom who’ll talk to him, and he doesn’t want to alienate me.

I’m going to the protest tomorrow. I’m hoping it’ll give me hope that we’re not as doomed as it seems we are. Lttle Max and his 80-year-old person are going, too. She’s never been to a protest. For various reasons, I’d prefer going without them, but she’s determined to go, and letting her go alone was not an option.

And now I’m late for Mr. Cat. I’ll try to post later and not be so me, me, me.

Went to the dermatologist. My scalp is fine but I had noticed a black spot on my foot. She said it was bad and removed it and sent it to lab.
Also two facial bumps, no color, were removed.
Getting old sucks.
But a neighbor is 27 and just had a hernia operation.

I walked two miles at lunchtime. Unfortunately, what I ate for lunch isn’t going to help me lose any weight. Hebrew National chili-cheese dog with red onion, wrapped in a Carb Balance whole wheat tortilla. (Also, a glass of psyllium husks.)

Howdy Y’all! Why does the board look weird? Or is it just me?

Mowage got done this mornin’. Go Me! I waited until almost ten and got done just before noon. I had my post-mowag beerverage and then a shower and achieved nappage. Sup got made and et. Serious chillage then ensued. I feel like I could go to bed but won’t as it’s six-thirtysix p.m. as I post.

ETA: Now the board does not look weird. Maybe those ‘shrooms we bought at the sto’ yestiddy were speshul ‘shrooms.:flushed_face:

Laundry being done while dorito salad is being made.
Supposed to be 78 tomorrow, then rainy, windy Sunday.

According to Sis, the neighborhood bordering mine is well known for their light display competition. We may have to take a cruise around the holidays.

Y’all got me curious about how far wagon trains traveled in a day, given that they couldn’t just change horses every few miles. This seems to be the consensus across several sites.

Does the dog pose a threat to you and/or the animals in your care? If so, definitely rat let the management know. If not, MYOB seems to be appropriate.

Give 'em hell!

Laundry is done. I made a sign for tomorrow. Sis and I will go to the protest close to her side of town in Sugarland where it’s easier to get in and out.

My old Roku bit the dust I think. I had a new one in the closet for when this happened. It kept cutting out and I was blaming it on the wifi, but now I can’t get it to connect at all, so tonight I’ll cuss and groan whilst installing the new one.

Up from naptime, Having a martini with cod, shrimp , and clam stew with Old Bay. Watching F1 practice.

To be fair, I spent 30 years in retail, so those thoughts go through my head, too.

If I ate some sausage before having a conversation with Maggie Wonderbeagle, she would pay attention and nod her head when I was pontificating.

Viva Amphibtifa!

Oddly enough I’m in better shape at 54 than at 34. < crosses fingers about the spots >

:+1:

And good evening all. Have done the necessary insurance things, got a very large check cut for the car, checked on procedures for selling mine (problem is I am still waiting for a copy of my Title, which might take another two weeks) and generally trying to figure out what else I need to do. Spent a short time at the gym, more time at the soccer field, and have finished my Big Bowl O’Sallit for dinner. Soccer starts at 8am tomorrow and will keep me occupied until 2:30 or so, so that should work out. Promised the kids some Little Debbie Mini-Apple pies and will bring some of the stuff I collected over my years of travel to show them, so hopefully they will be entertained. But definitely an early bedtime tonight.

Piper, looking forward to it, it’s a Hyundai Palisade Hybrid SUV, I wasn’t quiet ready to go full electric, but this should save at least some gas.

I’m afraid the only picture I get there is some of Hugh Hefner’s ‘bunnies’.

Nut, that is ridiculously early for a Yule tree. And glad someone got the stuff working.

Nellie, I’d tell the manager, others might be placed in danger because of that woman and her dog. At least you will know that you tried. And Yay! for Max and his person, I’ll be busy teaching soccer, but my heart is with you all.

Coppertone, had a couple spots removed last year and a hernia operation in February, so I know what you mean about getting old.

flyboy, if dieting means not have pleasure while eating, then you need a new diet…or more exercise…

swampy, board looks fine to me tonight. But will forgo mushrooms just in case.

And it’s closing in on 8:30pm, so need to finish the night’s internetting, put together my ‘box of interesting things’ for the littles tomorrow, and head off to bed. Catch y’all sometime tomorrow.

Just about to leave for mattress shopping, and a visit to an outlet store. Excitement abounds.

Can’t believe people are already decorating for Christmas - I haven’t even done anything for Halloween. We started pulling out some of the warmer jackets, but haven’t completely switched over. That might be something for this weekend, now that I have most of my energy back. Still have two more weeks of restricted activities, so I can go for a walk and direct hubby for lifting and moving things. Fortunately he’s happy to help.

For those protesting today, be safe. :frog:

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s my Firday. It’s also 46 degrees Ferret Height(7.8 Centipedes)

Pro tip: Testing out the mattress on the sales floor is frowned upon if you sleep naked.
