(Old) Canada's Thanksgiving begins the holiday season in the MMP!

Everyone going to the protests, please be safe.

MetalMouse, hooray for the new car! When I worked at a Toyota dealership awhile back I loved the idea of a hybrid. I wanted to get a Prius, but strangely enough the slant of the windshield made me nauseous so that didn’t happen.

My IEP meetings went ok. Neither one had a parent show up which is unfortunate but easier on me. Starting next week we’re going to be given IEP writing days where we can cancel everything we’ve been normally doing for the day and just concentrate on writing our upcoming IEPs. And Monday is my first writing day so I can actually just chill this weekend!

Yesterday my mom fell in her room. She is in a lot of pain, but we did not make a trip to the ER. I slept downstairs last night to make sure she was ok. I don’t think she’s been up all night come to think of it. I got some sleeping pills from the doctor the other day. I didn’t take one last night just in case. Therefore, I was up at my usual 3:30 this morning. Not complaining, though, I want to make sure that she’s ok.

Currently there’s a poodle on my lap and we’re just hanging out. And I know that I said I could chill today, but I’ll try my darndest to organize this chaotic house today. We got a new toilet on the first floor the other day. Not sure if I mentioned that before or not. But, anyways, things are still all over the place after having to clear out the stuff from the bathroom to make room for the work being done.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 58 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 83 and sunny. We will engage in high RDOS Inactivities today. The local kolledge is havin’ homecomin’ this weekend, so we will avoid restaurants, stores, etc. There will be a protest as well, but I am sure the homecomin’ festivities will overshadow it. Any need to feed will be via forage as we have plenty of sammich makin’s and chips. My DAWGS will play Sippimissi at three-thirty, so that will help entertain me. Should be a good game.

All you protesters please be careful out there today!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Another drive by post.

Shameless bragging: (part 1)

Our school has the 9th graders run / walk around a local lake. The distance in about 75% of a marathon, so it’s 30 km or 16 something miles. They let them run or walk and no pressure on the time.

This year SenBoy is in 9th grade and not only finished first, he set a new school record by five minutes in just under 3 1/2 hours. He doesn’t run, but participates in sports and is in pretty good shape.

Shameless bragging: (part 2)

I don’t have any more, but if I do, you will be the first to know.

I had a EUREKA moment! I’ve been getting ads for incontinence panties, and apart from being in the age demographic, I wasn’t sure why I was targeted for that particular product. Then I realized - I’d shopped for incontinence pads for MIL. So that explains why I get the ads.

Blurred if you happen to be eating. What it doesn’t explain is why the ads show how many gallons (?) of liquid the panties hold. If one pees that much, I expect there’d be a rather strong odor - not unlike a toddler in a diaper that needs to be changed. The ads make pads seem like a stupid alternative, but it seems to me changing a pad, even multiple times a day, isn’t as expensive as buying however many pairs of $25 panties to permit the same number of changes. Or maybe I’m overthinking this. Anyway, I now know why I get the ads and I wish I could stop them. Maybe I need to search for manly things so my cookies change??

It’s a chilly morning. FCD had a bad night and came back to bed just after 5, so I’ll be letting Otis out and feeding him this morning. After my morning surfage, of course. Apart from cleaning the critter fountain, the only other thing on the agenda is the first day of training for Otis. I won’t be able to make the local protest, but I will wear my No Kings t-shirt.

Oh, one more chore - dishwasher needs to be emptied. So I have that to look forward to. Onward!

Happy Saturday!!

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 12c/53f with a predicted high of 13c/56f and cloudy. Weather app says “How fucking typical. Another shitty fucking overcast day.” Suits me, I’ve been outside and it was ok out there.

She had a complete paddy yesterday in the end. She has a long-standing grudge or six against various people and one of them was affecting a working relationship so I had it in mind to shuffle some office responsibilities around so that she no longer had to work with the person who has most recently aggravated her. Turns out she wasn’t happy about that either, and decided that if a certain job was moved from her to the person she’s got a grudge against, she wouldn’t be happy and would take it further (involving the union). After getting that off her chest, she then said she didn’t care about the chair because everyone hated her. Sadly, that’s going to be the first message my manager reads from me when she gets back from her couple of days’ leave.

I hope they don’t cause too many after-effects. My flu shot didn’t seem to, although the following day I was definitely out of sorts but that could have been down to lack of sleep too. ‘im indoors has his flu shot this afternoon.

How exciting! I hope you manage to get all the admin stuff sorted out so you can drive happy on Monday!

If the dog is vicious and she doesn’t control it properly, then it is a danger to someone else, or their pet. I know it feels uncomfortable to do so, but I think telling the office is the best thing to do.

We will be decorating our office mid-November. Our current manager is due to end her secondment at the end of November so she wanted to have a bit of Christmas with us, and our exchange students leave mid-December so they will get a bit of Christmas too.

I hope she is ok and didn’t injure herself too much. She is lucky to have you (and Annie) to keep an eye on her all night too.

Well done to SenBoy - nothing wrong with some shameless bragging!

I have had an eventful time. I bought new tyres for my car a few weeks ago, we went on our first long trip last weekend to South Wales and on the way back, the tyre pressure warning light was on. I thought perhaps the new tyres hadn’t been checked for the correct pressure and I just needed to top them up. Went to the garage last night and as I took the valve cap off one of them, I could hear air coming out. The pressure should be 36psi and it was down at 20psi.

I called the tyre fitting place fist thing this morning and told them the problem (thanks for flyboy for helping me sound like I knew what I was talking about, valve stems went down well) and they said I should bring the car back to have it fixed. Left my house at 8.35am, went straight there, got it all sorted out and they even checked the other three tyres….and was out again before 9am. Even made it to the gym for the class at 9.15am.

Rest of the day involves lunch out, errands in town, chippy tea and then we’re out to see three bands at the Giffard later. I’ve got some colour on my hair that needs to be washed out in a minute, but I need to finish my cup of tea first.

Actually, SenGirl is in 11th grade and has decided to do cooking for her senior project. She’s been researching a number of dishes. As I type this, I’m eating homemade pumpkin pasta.

Morning all. Up with the alarm at 6:30, dressed for soccer and will leave the house in about a half-hour, not to return until 2:30pm or so. Another great day, 62F now heading to 82F this afternoon and all the rain for the week is not due until early tomorrow. Not much else planed besides soccer today, we’ll see how I am feeling by the afternoon.

Sticky Buns, best wishes to Mom…falls at a certain age take a while to recover from, as we both know. Happy new Ter-let day!!

Sensei, hooray for Senboy, I can do about 7km in an hour on the treadmill, but doing that for 3+ hours…that’s impressive. And sounds like you’ll be eating well…

FCM, I have some pads, since on rare occasions I have trouble controlling my bladder before I get to the restroom, but they are pretty absorbent.

Boo fae, sounds like there is no pleasing employee, hope she can find a new position more suitable to her ‘needs’. And glad the tire place was a responsible company.

And best get my ‘box of many things’ ready to go and make sure I remember everything. Have a good Sattiday all.

Off to work.

No kidding. My mom is probably facing another 2 weeks in rehab, tho she seems to be making good progress. Still, a fractured hip at 91…

I remember the ones FIL and MIL used - they seemed to do the job quite well. But I just can’t see the underwear being a reasonable alternative unless one is just dealing with, I dunno, drips or minor leaks? Otherwise, you’d need to carry extra underwear plus some sort of bag for the soiled ones, should you have an accident away from home. Maybe I’m overthinking it?

When it warms a bit more, I’ll head out and do the mowing I put off the other day. We’ll leave here a bit after one for PetSmart. Meanwhile, I’m showered and dressed in grubbies for mowage. Jeans and T when we take the dog.

You’re in charge of the Mumper Go Fund Me for bail if we get arrested. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hope that her owies heal soonest.

WTG SenBoy!

Yum! Also, WTG SenGirl!

I keep a few around for travel. After getting caught for an unexpected four hours in standstill traffic with no exit available, I decided that having pad under me and possibly a wearable on when on the road may be a better idea than having to get the car detailed once I arrive. I haven’t tried the actual undies, since that would involve totally changing your drawers if they were used.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP before getting sheveled and heading to Sis’.

I got the Roku changed out last night. The new one is 4G and has bigger print on the thumbnails. Hopefully, I’ll get 10 years out of this $30 investment like I did the last one.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Good morning, everyone.

It’s 43°F, dark and cloudy outside. It’ll be overcast all day, and rain moves in by the afternoon, with our daytime high topping out at 54°F.

Nellie, if the dog is a danger to others, I’d probably mention something.

Dicey, yay for a new mattress. We’ve had ours for 11 or 12 years now, but I can’t quite believe it, because it seems like it wasn’t that long ago we purchased it. It’s supposed to be a fifteen-year mattress, but it’s still pretty comfortable. If I stay in bed too long, however, I tend to get a little sore in the hips because I’m a side sleeper.

I did some laundry yesterday, along with raking leaves and branches in the backyard. I wish I could say I was busier, but I wasn’t. I think I’m going to tackle cleaning out my closet, which means getting rid of clothes that haven’t been worn in 10 or more years. I’ll donate them to the donation drop box. I don’t keep raggedy garments, so what I’m donating is nice.

I have a couple more dog blankets to wash, so I’ll probably wash them, too. I also need to hop online and get my forest products permit for next Saturday, so I should get that done today or tomorrow.

I bought a new Fire TV Stick recently because the one I had kept acting up. Now that the new Fire TV Stick has arrived, the old one is working perfectly fine. I’ll have to get them switched out soon.

For those of you protesting today, stay safe.

Oy vay! I don’t envy you at all. I’m glad your tires were fixed properly, too.

Metal Mouse, yay for new car smell! Are you going to take a drive in the new rig?

Sticky Buns, sending good wishes for your mother. I hope she is feeling much better today.

Welp, I’m working on the second cup of coffee, so I guess I’ll wind down here and peruse real estate that is out of my price range so I can scoff at poor design and materials.

Take care of yourselves!

That’s the way I see it. Pads are easy to change and easy to dispose of. Along with carrying spare unders, you’d have to get them to the washer, and at $25 a copy (at least the product that’s following me) that’s, well, a lot of generic pads.

Front and side are de-leafed. I’m letting FCD take care of the back yard - Otis has been digging and I’m not filling holes behind him. Nor am I scooping poop. And so it begins as I figured it would.

3 hours till training class.

It’s going to be a wet Saturday, which we desperately need. Hopefully our local protestors are prepared.

My wife and I actually have an evening together tonight; recently when I haven’t been in rehearsal she has been. Musicians really shouldn’t marry musicians…

Getting some laundry done and having a lazy morning. There is a small chance of mild productivity later in the day.

Up and briefly at 'em. Slept in until nearly 0800. Sore arm from the vaxes yesterday, but otherwise not too bad. The wife’s arm is much sorer than mine, possibly because she won’t listen to what I tell her about doing some stretches and drinking more water. I need to hire some stranger to come in and tell her things, I guess (grumble).

The Home is doing an abbreviated No Kings (oops, I mean “hate America”) walk today that the wife really wanted to go on, but she’s now conked out again, so that ain’t happening.

I did manage to gin up the energy for breakfast: fried egg sandwich and a yogurt, but I’m also feeling a bit dozy now.

It figures that both the car insurance and the newspaper costs would come due just when we’re waiting for a card replacement. Got a fairly snotty email from the insurance agent. It’s the second time it’s happened, so there’s that.

A night nurse you know is available…..

You are right of course. Up your hydration and use the arm the shot is in, stretches every 20 minutes or knit or crochet or do a jigsaw the rest of the day you get the jab. Regular, usual activities, keep the arm moving. Holding it still and inactivity impedes recovery and formation of immunity.

It is always ok to take a normal dose of Tylenol (unless it is contraindicated by your doctor) just before the poke and for 24 hours following. My kid the doctor does that for themselves and advises me to.

Yup.

My late wife was an attorney. Her mother was sooo proud of her. But when Mom had a legal question she’d ask daughter then ignore what she advised. Instead she’d ask me for an opinion and do whatever I said.

Real quickly after we got married wife & I figured this out and henceforth I’d forward Mom’s questions to wife for a reading, make sure I understood the advice, then pass it back to Mom without mentioning where I got it from.

Made Mom very happy. Pissed her daughter right the hell off it did.

Old ladies: ya’ can tell ‘em, but ya’ can’t tell 'em much. Old dudes ain’t much better, as JtC & FCM & boofae & Taters can attest. And have.

This morning I drove past our local No Kings protest near City Hall at about 15mph. Not a single sign was legible from 3 lanes away, so I’m only assuming that’s what the fuss was about.

Our town is having a bit of a citizen uprising just now where the city council wants to sell off our large central park to a developer for almost $zero so they can build a fake neighborhood of highly profitable condo$ and the longtime residents are having none of that. So the protest could have been about that instead, but I doubt it.

C’mon people: your ~3’x4’ sign needs 2-3 words of 1 syllable each written with 1-1/2" to 2" stroke-width block printing. Anything more may as well be written in Klingon.

Good day here, GF coming over tonight & staying until Mon morning. Got my car back, and otherwise nothing is shaking at Casa LSL.

Cheers and happy weekend to all!

My signs are:

Impeach
Trump

Lock
Him
Up

Professionally printed at a union printer. One is red and white, the other is black and white. The letters are at least 2” wide and fill the 20” by 24” poly signboard. Granted, ‘IMPEACH’ is two syllables but ‘Dump Trump’, while monosyllabic, is imprecise.

When they come home from protests they go back on their metal frames in my front yard between my US flag (not gonna let the bastids usurp that) and my (also professionally union printed) Star of David Pride sign.

Evening.

Had a morning out in the next town over, as I have been getting into too much of a boring routine, and, unusually for me, I woke up early despite it being weekend. Went to the good bakery- it’s only open 3 days a week, everything’s normally sold out by midday and it’s an hour away, so it’s a rare treat, but it’s the best bread in the area.

I think the local bigots were attempting an anti-migrant protest there, cos a grand total of 3 of them slunk past me on the way in, looking both angry and slightly sheepish, with flags and ‘Reform’ merch. It wasn’t even midday and I didn’t see any others anywhere else, so I wonder if they arrived only to discover they were the entire protest. I really hope so.

Discovered a tiny, great and frankly insane quilting fabric shop on the way back, which I’ve passed before but it always looked closed and I was never really sure if it was even a functioning shop. I’m still not sure, and I just bought fabric from it. Gloriously unprofessional. Apparently they run classes and I’m tempted, but I’m not sure if I have brain space for another hobby right now.

We went to Cold Stone for ice cream the other day. They had Boo Batter ice cream, which is their regular cake batter ice cream, dyed black. For the Hallowe’en sundae, they’d throw in orange sprinkles. Supposed to look icky, I guess. I thought so, and I had something else. It brought to mind a friend’s story of having solid white poop after a diagnostic barium milkshake.

But… but… but… what about autism??? :open_mouth:

< snerk >

Same for folks putting up yard sale signs: Date, Time, Arrow pointing the way in big block letters on a contrasting (not neon) background.

There are 5 dogs in the training class. The trainer is good - she interacted with all dogs and provided lots of good guidance and help. Otis did pretty well, but the challenge will be at home. He didn’t jump on me there so I just got suggestions on how to deal with it. Mostly, I need to keep training treats on my person all the time. He’s very food motivated. I just ordered a 2# bag - that should last a week or so…

On the way back, we passed 4 groups of No Kings protestors. We made sure to toot the horn and wave. I saw an inflatable Garfield, a unicorn with a rainbow striped horn, and a mylar Trump Baby balloon, and lots of signs. Kinda surprising in our very very red county.

Anyway, home now. FCD will have the last of the chili from the freezer. I’m not sure what I’ll have. Maybe a mushroom omelette? We’ll see.
