(Old) Day Trips planned in the MMP

Happy Thorsday!

One of the things on my ToDo List is to catch up with the MMP.

I’m still alive, but very tired.
I’ve kind of resigned myself that on the nights my son irks, I will not get much sleep.
Nor will I get anything done.

Toosday night the GR got the zoomies at midnight.
If you heard the cussing, it was me. I was not handling it well because every time I’d start to fall asleep, they would wake me up. Zoomies at midnight sent me right over the edge.
I put the brats outside, and what did they do?
They walked out the door, laid down on the porch, and went to sleep.
I got everybody in and back upstairs to bed.
Then my son called at 4 to come get him.

I’m taking all three dogs with me now to drop my son off and pick him up. Rayleigh has figured out a way to get out of the playpen, and he’s smart enough not to do it in front of us.
I don’t want him wandering the house without supervision, so now everybody goes.

I think Rayleigh may be another momma’s boy. He sticks close to me at the park, and sits under whatever bench I’m sitting on. Misiu is out playing and making friends.

The fire trucks had to come out again for the neighbor two doors down. He was burning shit in the yard again.
The next day, the guy next door came out while I was outside and asked me if I had seen him. He had somebody from the fire department with him and the Fire Marshall is looking for the guy two doors down. They asked me if I see him to call the non-emergency number and let them know.
I asked, and we are allowed to have a fire pit if it’s one of the kind you buy. You can’t just burn stuff on the ground. Also, you can only burn wood, this guy was burning construction materials as well.
I kind of figured he was.

No day trips planned for me. I might go to the family reunion over Labor Day weekend, but probably not. It’s a long drive and I don’t know most of the people anymore anyway.
I’ll decide when the time comes.

I still have a lot of reading to do to catch up around here.

Son can walk or drive himself to/from work and the dogs can sleep overnight outside. Next hard problem?

You seem very allergic to taking care of yourself ahead of lesser beings. You know it hurts you. And yet you persist. I’m not trying to be a jerk here; it just pains me to see people voluntarily and unnecessarily banging their head against a wall while complaining their head hurts. And while explaining patiently that they know and understand it’s the head against wall thing causing their pain.

Can you compromise and take good care of your self first and foremost for 4 hours per day, say 10pm to 2am? If the house is not on fire nothing, and I mean nothing should disturb your sleep during those hours.

The Spousal Unit said she didn’t want anything for dinner, but I had to go to the supermarket. There, I saw containers of raw oysters for $1.99 because the sell-by date is tomorrow. I got two of them. So guess who’s suddenly hungry? The one container I opened had five large oysters and two small ones; just enough for two po’boys.

We had two keto hamburger buns left (50 kilocalories, 16 g carbohydrates, 15 g fibre, 6 g protein), so I ‘buttered’ and toasted them with some garlic powder, shredded some lettuce and sliced a tomato, put mayo on the buns, and Tabasco® on mine. Wifey had potato chips, and I had Baken-ets. I’m just about finished with a can of Gato Dormilon Hazy IPA.

So maintainance came by to change the air filter today.
Wayne: “Kitty kitty?”
Spot: “GAHHHH! PEOPLE!”
He spent the rest of the afternoon curled up on my shoulder(to be fair that’s the first time he’s seen another person since he was adopted.)
I’m having Smoked Paprika chicken, with roasted potatoes, and a maragarita(no chicken or potatoes added. :stuck_out_tongue: ).
uy-youn

I do enjoy chopping some un-youn

Shake and Bake. I did that, too.

Just finished watching Strange New Worlds
Spoiler:

Vulcan marriage rituals involve Vulcan Festivus

omgosh, this sounds like a Norman Rockwell painting. Beautiful memory.

Quoted for truth; it’s why I almost NEVER make potatoes; we had potatoes at least 6 nights a week when I was growing up.
Also, thanks for the advice on what to serve Hubs and what to stay away from. So far so good today. :fingers crossed:

Thanks BooFae

You definitely did your duty yesterday with the playground, picnic and splash park. You deserve some calm hometime.

Thanks very much Taters. Today’s chemo session went very well. The injection was given 34 minutes after Hubs arrived; fastest ever. I had gone across a different street to a property I used to work at (a combination Social/Fitness including aquatics/tennis/ workout machines Club). I was the Aquatics Director and taught Water Exercise. The Club is currently not operating and the property is in disrepair. The tennis courts are/were clay courts and as such have a lot of flora growing on them. I tried the door of the little building next to the tennis courts that used to sell tennis balls, etc and it was open. I grabbed a chair and went and sat in the shade looking out on a field edged by some woods. I did some sewing, said a rosary and while doing so a very beautiful handsome buck came along the edge of the woods eating some of this and that. Every so often, he would stand up very majestically and look at me, first time sizing me up and after that making sure that I was still stationary. It was very relaxing. Hubs texted exactly when I was ready to come back to pick him up then we went to the Fitness Center that we currently belong to and both worked out. Besides doing the NuStep Hubs also used the weighted pulleys to do some exercises that the PT we met with on Tuesday gave him.
Hope your Director and Deputy go along with your suggestion for the other USDA office space.

Thanks very much wordy, we did :slightly_smiling_face:
After home from Fitness Center, the weather was cooperating so Hubs grilled cheeseburgers, I made potato salad and heated up some leftover baked beans, then make a s’more for dessert. Mmmmm.

Thanks very much red. BTW, I had cataract surgery on my right eye 1-1/2 yrs ago. It went very smoothly, really no big deal.

I got out just in time to get home, pee, change, and sit outside … just as the resident bat started circling.

I’ll hafta go back out in an hour or so and check the horizon for greenish lights. :crossed_fingers:

We talked on the phone earlier. It was school stuff (CIA would be way more exciting - I’ll hafta borrow that joke) but I really need him to understand that a quick “Hey, I don’t have time right now” is far preferable to radio silence.

Heck, I’m okay with “Bitch, I’m busy!” Still better than being left wondering.

All three of you have my deepest sympathy.

Let us know if the picky little bastard … umm … cutie pie … liked his spuds.

I can’t imagine needing to pee and going through all that. I’d have broken the stupid key inside the door (and possibly wet myself) within a week of moving in.

What a treat!

You are so right, that is what it was. We did it a couple of times before the commercial but never after.

Nothing like a little motivation to get one moving. Glad you were able for it. And isn’t it nice to know?

About 1/3 the size I would like it to be. And the appliances are cheap as expected. I’m concerned about the stove, which is electric. Coils made me say “yay” but they’ve got temperature sensor buttons to “help keep the pans from getting too hot”. Uh-oh. Does this mean I can’t do any water bath canning? I’m going to ask GE in the morning. If so, I’ll have to get a modern, powerful version of a hot place to make it happen. Government interference with the production of good food at home.

That said, I don’t do much big cooking any more as I don’t have much in the way of an audience. But the jams, tomatoes and spaghetti sauce are musts in my book. I’m thrilled to have a fridge/freezer again instead of my hostess’ half fridge (which we share because she won’t bother to fix or replace her kitchen fridge. When I moved in here, I got a tiny chest freezer because she had none and I wasn’t going to throw out all the food that I had in my previous freezer. So I get to take that with me. Yay.

So much this.

I need to do more of this myself. After I move. I thank you for this reminder.

boo fae I hope that works for your Shadow. I want to know why those meds are expensive. Isn’t it just generic Synthroid?

That’s exactly what it is. But you think they’d make it look nice. Nope, it’s a red, plastic token on a wrist leash.

Well, I’m off for the evening, crossing fingers for rain overnight.

I took a trip out to the porch to see if’n I could see the aurora. Nope. But I do have a ton of fireflies. They sort of fill the volume of the back yard, which is pretty cool.

Too bad you didn’t get pictures. I haven’t actually seen fireflies (not that common on the US west coast where I’ve spent my whole life), but that sounds cool.

Evening all. Went out and did walkies at the park for a half-hour before fixing the evening cheeseburger, but that has been about the sum of my activity. Getting close to 10pm so will be shutting down here soon to do some reading and make ready for sleepin’.

vroom, glad you are into your new place. Hope it (with small kitchen) will work out.

Cat Glove, that’s nice to have deer that close. A friend of mine out Colorado way has a whole herd that visits his property, doe just had babies recently.

Sari, if the cops are coming out, the guy probably has gotten warned before, this one might get him arrested so that’s why he’s suddenly hard to find. And zoomies at Midnight?!?!?

Pilot, never seen a apartment key like you described; my home doors still use a old-fashioned toothed key.

red, agree with your views on Wal-Mart Vision centers, I get my ‘insurance’ pair of glasses at the Opthamologist’s office, but take the prescription to Wal-Mart for the ‘good’ ones and haven’t been disappointed yet.

JtC, here’s an entertaining little You Tube short (I watch an eclectic variance of You Tubes) on Hamburger Helper. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1wqZvOjle8

lily, hope both wife and kitty are doing better soon.

Next stop: 3.5mph!!

OK, now it’s 10pm so off to bed. Take care all.

Probably Methimazole (brand names: Tapazole®, Felimazole®). Which acts as an anti-thyroid hormone, the opposite of synthyroid basically, if for a hyperthyroid cat (which is very common).

If you need to buy it, you should check the Good Rx app, they have really discounted Rx prices, even for pet meds. A month’s supply of methimazole human strength is listed as $4.06. No idea what the kitty dosage is, hope it is in that same ballpark for you.

We once had a cat on blood pressure meds and our vet told us to get the script filled at the local Costco. That’s when I learned that you don’t need a membership to use their pharmacy or to buy booze.

When I picked up the script, the pharmacist asked me if I had ever taken it before while looking my young, thin body up and down. Not in a lascivious manner, but using his professional judgement to check dosage against size. When I said I hadn’t used it before and wanted the talk about side effects, he would look at the bottle, look at me and then say something like “it could cause this or that, but I don’t think you would notice it because the dosage is so small.” Finally he asked me if the meds were for my child because it was such a small dose and I told him it was for my cat. He started braying laugher while dropping the pill bottle because he hadn’t seen the “feline” in front of kitty’s name so had been trying to figure out how to tell me to call my doctor because the cat sized dose wouldn’t do anything for me due to my size.

Today I tried something kinda scary. I put myself on the floor, sat crosslegged and then got up without help or needing to crawl to a piece of furniture. It’s been years since I could do that and I credit it all to the Tai chi classes. I practiced twice in my room before showing off to hubs and he was so amazed that I did it again just because I could. Then GG thought he wanted to help and I learned that I can’t get up off the floor with 20 lbs of squirmy cat on my back.

Imma gonna be doing tai chi forever!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
But I do have a ton of fireflies
I hardly see them anymore im N.C.

The “help” of a small(?) mammal is like the help of a drunken roommate. Appreciated, but counterproductive.

Morning, mumpers! It’s 14c/58f with a predicted high of 18c/64f, and rain showers. Weather app is irritable and says “Should you wear a fucking raincoat today? Do whatever the fuck you want. Do I look like your fucking mother?” Fair enough, I don’t possess a raincoat so an umbrella will have to do.

JtC thanks for the advice, our beautiful Ophelia was on thyroid meds as well so we’re well used to them in our house. The only problem is actually getting them into the cat - she was easily the most laid-back kitty we’ve ever had and I could just squirt the meds straight into her mouth. No chance of that with Shadow, he doesn’t like wet cat food so I’ve had to try putting it on his other food, on some chicken, on some tuna…I’ll end up wasting the entire bottle before I manage to get a single dose into him at this rate!

vroooom I’m in the UK so our meds will have different names. The vet prescribed Thyronorm (Thiamazole) which is cheaper to buy online but you need a vet’s prescription for it and the vet charges £25 per prescription. The pack is the smaller one so the cost from our vet includes the consultation, prescription and product. Sadly I can’t get it from anywhere else :frowning:

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 74 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a predicted high of 89 and mostly cloudy. Only 89 in mid July in south Jawja. BRRR! The big item on today’s agenda is to take care of candle duty over to the church house. Afterward we shall be bears who brunch at Eggs Up Grille, which will take care of the main need to feed for the day. Since I was productive yestiddy (mowage was completed) high sloth and extra general overall uselessness will take up the rest of the day.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I suppose I must purtify and don attire appropriate for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. I just hope all my effort is appreciated!

Happy Firday Y’all!

This business of getting a good night’s sleep is starting to be a habit hereabouts, so HUZZAH!! It’s amazing how human one feels when one is well-rested!

Today I’m going to Daughter’s school to help out with pre-school year cleaning. One of the requirements of all students and their families is a certain number of volunteer hours each year, and they’re starting the count today for school year '23-'24. It’s supposed to be a rainy, ick day so I decided I’d give them a couple of hours this morning, even tho I’m neither student nor student family. (Staff doesn’t count.) Because I’m nice, dammit.

FCD will be taking his brother to the hospital in Clinton, MD, for some kind of test - mostly because his bro is too scared to drive very far out of this area. Frankly, it’s pretty amazing that he drives at all - he was in his 50s when he got his license! And Rt 5 get pretty congested once you hit Waldorf and beyond, and BIL would just freak out. Thus the good big-brother duty.

The rest of the weekend is supposed to be equally rainy, which means any boat work is highly unlikely. Same for any yard work. Guess it’s the weekend the bathrooms get a good, deep cleaning - rah!

So after my morning surf, I’ll shower, don grubbies, and head to L’town to donate some sweat and effort.

Happy Firday!!

Boo fae, I’ve been on Thiamazole myself for hyperthyroidism. To us in the US, it’s dead cheap, compared to many meds. But that’s because we are almost used to our insane med prices. They are shocking. Good luck on the meds. I used to have to dose a cat daily and it was almost always a struggle, but I did learn how to open his jaw and squirt the stuff into the back of his throat. Catching him to do so was the challenge.

You go girl! That’s great to hear.

Yes, yes you are. And cleaning someplace other than home can be fun.

Today is a bit sticky warm, but I’ll spend most of it inside at irk, and then over to the apartment because they missed having me sign something. I’ll take the opportunity to measure the bathroom for a shower curtain and ask about the possibility of repainting the cream-colored walls. I really dislike a lot of off-whites. I want white or color, dammit. But I promise I won’t paint the walls shocking pink or lime green. Even though I kind-of want to.

Happy Friday!

Morning all. Up about 7am to cloudy skies and a 1-in-4 chance of rain with will increase to 60% tomorrow. Outside of swim-n-sauna not much else planned, should finally put my new luggage away and sweep the carpets, but neither are crucial so are on the “we’ll see” list.

I’m fairly lucky on meds, only take a pill for high blood pressure and with insurance it’s $5 for 90 days of pills, so not bad. Not sure what it would be without insurance, though…

JtC, I think I could get up the same way you did, but the odds are fairly good that I would stumble and crash into the TV or something else, so unless it’s absolutely necessary I think I’ll just congratuate you on the accomplishment.

OK, have broken fast and need to do the morning internettin’, so everyone have a good Firday.
