Wanting more pics in the MMP

Just because I can be first dang it!

Mom has to leave on Tuesday so we had Thanksgiving on Sunday. Everyone is sleeping off their turkey comas (happens with cats too) and I’m up because I don’t know why.

I’ve been stitching my fingers off and finally have gotten to the candlewicking which makes me happy.

I think candlewicking is fun. Mom hates it, LOL!

I know I should have finished up the lower quarter, doing all the fun stuff first is a good way for something to get put in the closet and forgotten, but I couldn’t help myself cause I love the candlewicking so much!

We have a yard flock of sparrows happily squabbling in the roses and eating the seed I helpfully put out for them. I also put a bowl of water out for the porch kitty (aka the neighbors’ cat who likes hanging out on our porch after dinner). The flock has learned that they can have flock baths in the water bowl and splash and crowd into the bowl while cheeping and chirping. When I see that it’s birdy bathtime, I always go and find George so he can watch and chitter.

FCM, I’m all excited about your new babby, when are you going to be able to meet him?

W00T! First!

And Happy Early Thanksgiving, Unknown!

It was a great one, thank you. Not to mention that we is retired drains on society who can have Thanksgiving every week if we want!

We started out our day with yeast raised cinnamon buns because I’ve been binge watching the British Baking show and knew just what I was doing. They were the best yeast raised cinnamon buns I’ve ever made. Of course, they were the only ones I’ve ever made, but whatever.

I once ate fresh cranberry sauce and have never gone back to cans. Here’s my recipe:

1 bag of fresh cranberries (frozen works very well)
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water

Bring to boil and then simmer until thickened and reduced to about 3 cups. Stir a bunch so the sugar doesn’t scorch.

Pour into a bowl and let sit and cool until tepid. Stir a bunch during this step too so it doesn’t gel in lumps.

If you are going to be feeding this to children, put into fancy serving bowls, cover and refrigerate for a couple of hours.

If no children are involved, stir in a third cup of vodka and a third cup of Grand Marnier, then put into bowls, cover and chill.

Do good doggies get turkey? Our not so good cats do, but they just get a little. George (7 month old kitten) thought that turkey was pretty good, but REALLY wanted the yeast while it was activating.

Yes he does. :dog:

Woke around 2 and still up at 3:20. FCD got a text from our daughter a few minutes ago. Labor started just after midnight. Doubt I’ll get any more sleep tonight… But I’m exhausted. Long day ahead.

Happy Moanday, I guess. And happy birthday, Tobias Oliver!

And he arrived at 4:07. Maybe I can doze now…

Can’t sleep due to itching, but I’d rather say I’m on Full Tobias Alert. Wishing smooth sailing to port for the little guy and tolerable discomfort only for his mama.

Now I wish I were having company for Thanksgiving so I could make this. Glad you had a wonderful early Turkey Day and that George liked his bit of bird. I wonder what attracted him to yeast.

And your needlework is gorgeous!

SIL texted a pic. Toby has a full head of hair, but I don’t know his stats yet. My daughter looked exhausted. She’s not the only one… I don’t think I’ll get even a nap. Just get up and shower in a few.

Up, showered, dressed, and breakfasting. Toby was 7# 1.7oz, 19" long. They’re going to try to do a video chat later with Roxy. I did get permission to show her the picture. So when I get her up in a little bit, she gets a surprise!

YAAAAAY! Welcome, Tobias! I’m so glad you’re among us and can’t wait to see all the wonderful things you’ll do!

Congrats, FCM and FCD–and Roxstar!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 38 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 71 and N.O.S. for the day. No real plans for the day at all. Had a kinda bad night’s sleep and feel achy this mornin’. No fever or such but achy. Maybe a nice hot stiff shower will perk me up. Don’t even know what sup will be yet which is so unlike me! Plus Unknown has reminded me that we need to crank up the Turkey Day plans.

MOOOOOOM yay for Tobias enterin’ the world! Do let us know how RoxStar reacts.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Good morning!

Many congrats on Tobias’ arrival. He’s a handsome boy!

Supposedly it’s supposed to be windy and rainy here, but it’s calm and practically dry. If it wasn’t dark I’d go out and sweep all the fir tree needles off my back patio.

I heard coyotes this morning and Polar was on high alert, I had a hell of a time getting him out of the backyard.

Polar is doing fine, although he has good and bad days. He takes medication and his appetite has returned, although he is very picky. He’ll eat up his boiled chicken thighs and rice though.

nellie, no-mess or no-mess plus seed is definitely hulled. The most popular blend we have is a hulled seed mix (peanuts, sunflower chips), dried cherries and cranberries, bark butter (made with roasted peanuts), suet, and calcium carbonate. The birds LOOOOOOVE this stuff and it goes much faster than plain hulled sunflowers, nyjer, or a nyjer and sunflower mix. I love the fact that I don’t have a huge shell mess to clean up either. We have medium-sized tube feeders and they’ll clean out a feeder filled with this stuff in two to three days.

It’s back to the grindstone today. I am trying to steel myself for the deluge of emails and problems that await me. But, I have a job, and there is a roof over our heads and food on the table. I’m treated very well at my place of employment and problem solving is part of my job. I just wish I could get a bit of a breather, is all.

I was thinking I’d retire in another four and a half years, but I may push it to 65. I keep running numbers and right now even 62 isn’t looking as promising as it did.

Welp, time for another cup of coffee.

BTW, Dicey - I think you were right about the batteries. I had a reading this morning! Genius!

Roxy is in school and I’m at their house waiting for SIL. Then I need to run to Food Lion. FCD is going to Annapolis after his Dr appt so I’ll be without adult supervision for a while. :open_mouth:

Beware!!

pokes haid in
Good morning all. Just doing the irk thing. I guess I picked a good day to say hey. Happy birthday Tobias! Mazel tov FCMama he’s beautiful!

Hey meester want to see some feelthy pictures?

Tobias is a handsome young fellow!

Tobias is a good looking lad. He looks so little next to daddy’s fingers. I am out of paper towels which annoys me because I went to WalMart yesterday and spent $127 but didn’t have p.t. on my list. Grrrrrr.

Mornin’ all!! Up and to it. In the shop to do some finishing on some shelves for the gift store client.

FCM Yay to the new arrival!

unknown That’s basically my cranberry sauce recipe, but I’ll toss in a cinnamon stick and a couple slices of orange. I like the Grand Marnier idea, though. Might try that this year.

We’re under a ‘flood emergency’ in Whatcom County. KING5 (Seattle) just showed flooding in Bellingham. Bellingham has received about 3.5 inches of rain in the last 24 hours. On Nextdoor, someone said the new berm is holding up; but houses on the other side of the road have flooded yards. The berm’s keeping the seawater out, but there’s nothing to stop the rain! When they built the berm, they upgraded the fresh water drainage. Even the new drains are overwhelmed. I was driving along the beach yesterday, and I saw water coming out of a drain in front of a house not far from our street. I’m pretty sure I could see the heavy iron grate being lifted.

I’m glad we have a new roof, and that we live at the top of a hill. (The house was called ‘Hillcrest’.)

In other news, there was a power outage at the office in Burien yesterday. I can’t work until someone gets into the office and restarts my computer. :frowning:

He’s probably barely over a handful for his dad, but I expect before too long, he’ll be tall like his sister. Obviously getting their altitude from their father!

After I let their dog out and fed him, SIL came home to get some sleep, so I don’t have to go back there before picking up Roxy. Then I ran to Food Lion for a loaf of bread, and came out $72 poorer. I saw a few other things I needed… They had cukes on sale, so I’m going to make a cuke-onion salad. And, no, I didn’t buy $70 in cucumbers.

I may attempt a nap. Or I’ll just plop in my recliner and continue re-watching Death in Paradise. I have options.

FCD called from the boat stuff store in Annapolis. He needed to get away from his desk. He sent off the analysis report last night, and he swears he’s not going to work any more. I should start a pool… Then again, once we have the boat, he’ll find plenty of things to fill his time. But I’m not sure I believe that he’s really retiring. Third time’s the charm??

OK, gotta go peel some cucumbers. And, not that’s not code for something dirty. :stuck_out_tongue:
