Morning all and welcome to the world, Toby! Doubt that any of the FCF (fairy chat family) is going to get much rest for a while, though. Great pic. And FCM, he’ll be retired right up until someone brings him something ‘interesting’ to work on–engineers…
flyboy, keep staying dry.
Unknown, glad you had a great (albeit early) T-giving. And wonderful sticking.
Need to do my normal shop-n-sammich routine this morning, then really need to do some stuff around the house, it’s not ‘intervention’ bad yet, but I do think I need to make a list (because once I have a list I have to cross things off it…). Also need to check at the tire place on my car’s tires, I’ve put air into them twice and have less tire pressure than I started with! So either I don’t have a clue how to operate the pumps, or there is something wrong with them. We shall see.
Which is why he’s not burning any bridges. He admitted he’s willing to consider small, quick turn-around analysis projects, but he doesn’t want to get sucked into the kind of mess he’s just finished. It was to be a 3 month project and it’s dragged out over a year, mostly due to one particular waste of protoplasm who still managed to keep his job. I’ve met the guy - he is a waste! Really!!
Wait a sec - I was going to make a cuke salad. Dammit, this stoopit intrarwebz is so distracting. OK, for reals now. Heading to the kitchen. No, really!
Today started okay and has rapidly progressed to “I guess nothing will go as planned and also let’s talk to lawyers and schools and peds”. Sigh. Monday.
I may go out in it in a little bit, just to go down to the beach to see what’s what. And I need to get new tires this afternoon, since the hydroplaning has become disconcerting.
Afternoon all, especally the new tiny human! He looks quite sceptical of proceedings in that picture.
I hope RoxStar copes well with being a big sis- when baby me was brought back my parents gave my big bro a toy train (the obsession at the time) and told him it was from me. It apparently helped, as he was willing to put up with losing some attention if the useless screaming me might generate more toys
No class today; just getting on with assignments. It’s grey and dreary outside, so I don’t mind so much being stuck in so much. At least we have heating and hot water- it was broken last week, not sure if I mentioned.
Hmmmm, we tried the opposite approach - asking Roxy if she wanted to pick out a present for her brother. Nope, she wanted one for herself… But we’re all aware of not ignoring her in favor of her brother. Being in school will help a lot, I think. And I’ll make an effort to do things with her like I used to - going to the marine museum or (weather permitting) the playground. And I’ll continue to call her my best girl, because she is! And apparently I’m her best friend.
I asked Alexa to play Sammy Davis Jr. She came back with “a station based on Sammy Davis Jr” - it’s been almost exclusively Frank Sinatra. Nary a note from Sammy! Stoopit Alexa. We have a local station that plays the kind of music I grew up with - Sinatra, Dean Martin, Steve Lawrence, Sammy, up to and including recent duets with Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga. Pretty much standards and easy listening, and I really enjoy it. And lately I’ve been hearing several of Sammy’s recordings and I find I really like them - for a little guy, he had a heck of a voice. But I guess Alexa doesn’t think so. A pox upon her!!
OK, cuke salad is made and marinating. I just finished the sloppy joes I made last week - barely enough for a sammich. I’m about to run the dishwasher, and I think it’s time for some chillage in front of TV. I’ve got about 3 hours before I have to fetch the RoxStar. That’s 3 episodes of Death in Paradise. Good plan, I think.
It’s a chilly 69F here this morning. I have about decided I can’t move where it actually gets cold. I had to close the windows and put a sweater on the dog.
The Great Move of A/C crap is in progress. Hopefully by the end of the week I can have my house back.
Sounds like a good plan! That worked well for this Grandma when Hattie’s baby brother came home from the hospital. I dote on her and try to not focus too much on him til he’s older.
Tobias is beautiful!~such wise, alert eyes! Hope Mama is getting in some good rest, she’s earned it.
Enjoy having the RoxStar as the center of your universe for the foreseeable future. Here’s to Marine Museums and Children’s Zoos!
Welcome, Tobias! FCM I’m so excited for you and your daughter - glad she’s doing well.
I don’t recall most of yesterday after hanging about in a fog of sleepover-induced exhaustion. The girls were up squealing until 4 a.m. The only thing notable that happened yesterday evening was that when overlygirl opened her gift from us, which was a cheapo pair of wireless earbuds, it turned out the box had been opened and the earbuds swiped before the box made it to my hands. My kids thought I was pranking the girl, but alas. I’m good, but not that good. Anyway, the rather large store with the big target on the front will replace them, which is nice.
Oh! Almost forgot - I get my booster tomorrow! And overlygirl gets her first jab Thursday 'cause I didn’t want to have her jabbed on her birthday. Coulda done it earlier but the authorization was made just a few days prior to her turning 12 so figured I’d wait. I’m trying not to feel relieved already. A friend of mine’s daughter tested positive the day before her vax, so I’m going to try hard not to get too excited.
Tobias is a handsome little fellow–and I love all that hair! He does look like someone just told him this outside-the-nice-warm-womb thing is for keeps. (Say what now?) How’s his mama doing, FCM?
I have GOOD NEWS! I got a call this morning from the very nice appointment desk woman at the allergy clinic. I’m in–and it’s TOMORROW!! Hallelujah! Soooooo relieved. (Of course, the shot may not do anything, but I’m going to think positive.) Why that not-so-nice nurse told me there was no way to get the medication in sooner, I have no idea. Maybe the doc saw the note and said I could have some from their secret stash. I have reservations on the Amtrak tomorrow morning and will hopefully return tomorrow night. I’m to bring the Epi-Pen, so that explains that.
Taters, we’ve got your wind down here. We have a wind advisory in affect until tomorrow evening, and the lights keep flickering. I have to run to the bank to use the ATM (2 blocks), but I’m not sure I’ll brave the walk to the gym (3/4 mile). Flyboy, glad you’re high and dry. I mean high as on a hill. I mean, none of my business. Never mind. Shut up, Nellie.
The bird seed mix sounds delicious. But…bark butter? Can you schmear it on a bagel? (Scrubs joke.) Does it have actual bark or just peanuts?
swampy, I hope you feel better and fast.
Hi, Pearl!
When I was born, my brother was heartbroken: with 2 sisters, he wanted a brother. Dad bought him off with a nickel. Even then, I was a bargain. I won’t tell him he coulda had a train, though.
wordy, I well remember those Giggle Fests. Tradition at our house was Pillsbury cinnamon rolls and orange rolls. The girls loved 'em. Truth was, I was too bleary-eyed to make pancakes. And yay on the booster!
How funny! I fed them Pillsbury cinnamon rolls for breakfast the next day for the same reason! I got two cans of the large ones and both of them were inhaled along with nearly a pound of bacon. My teenaged son has nothing on these girls when it comes to eating!
Not sure I ever had the orange rolls, but I certainly remember the cinnamon rolls. I was so excited when we had them as a special treat. Not sure I could even stomach them now.
flyboy, I hope you all get the rain out of the way. I’ve bought tickets to visit my parents for Christmas and I’m hoping for reasonable weather. So probably they will lose power for Christmas. Hmph.
Evidentally I need to up my game. I thought I was doing good with 2 TBS of Grand Marnier.
I seem to be over my cold, but hubby’s is staying with him. Found out another coworker caught it as well. Her home test was also negative, so the general thought seems to be that there’s a particularly infectious cold going through the office.
Relieved to be off her restricted diet! But apparently her gestational diabetes caused Toby to have low blood sugar. They’re working on bringing it up so he can go home. I suggested a Hershey bar, tho maybe Lindt or Godiva would be a better choice?
FCD is back from Annapolis and he’s taking a nap. I’ll leave in a bit over an hour to fetch Roxy. Supper will be mac-n-cheese. I think that sums it all up nicely.
Meanwhile - YAY for allergy appointment!!! Boo on cranky nurse! Happy thoughts coming your way!
OK, one more murder in paradise before I head down the road.
Yes, this Nurse Boo says boo! on any and all nurses who are cranky with any of her Mumper peeps wherever they maybe. After all, we know how to kill without leaving a mark !
For Tobias’ blood sugar I’d go straight to caramel straight from the jar~grandma FCM to the rescue! After all, she must be looking forward to getting her mitts on him. Hope the new proud parents are getting some rest and pampering at the hospital.
Congrats on the allergy appointment. I hope, hope, hope the itching stops right away!
The weather is beautiful here which is rather worrisome. While temps in the 90s aren’t unusual this time of year, it usually cools down at least 50 degrees at night and that hasn’t been happening this year. I’ve never gotten tomatoes in the middle of November before, very odd.
I got disconnected from my work computer. I called three people (one of whom I know is in the orifice today) and each call went directly to voice mail. I wonder if they lost power again?
