It’s a Christian Fellowship. If I could choose, I’d rather become an Episcopalian. Politics are not raised, but I get the impression the pastor and elders lean liberal.
We drove a bit over 3 hours total to spend 2 hours at my sister’s house. The kids had fun hunting for eggs and we had some good eats. Roxy is spending the night here and we’ll get Tobias after school tomorrow. We’ll make cuke salad in the morning and go to the marine museum in the afternoon before fetching the little guy.
We’re watching Raya and the Dragon (or something like that) on Disney. After it’s done, it’s spawn bedtime, then quiet chil time.
FCM: Sounds like a lot of overhead. I guess that’s the way of life for parents and grandparents. But worth it.
You’re sure right that trying to eat low- or nil-carb is just about impossible at anyone’s idea of a party, pasties or no. Traditional feast days likewise. They’re all an endless parade of massive carbs and seemingly little else. Good on 'ya for threading that needle sucessfully.
I actually think it’d be fun to throw a party, invite all the normies, and serve only nil-carb food and drink. See how they like it; neener neener!! Truth is nil-carb doesn’t preclude fun and tasty and satisfying. But folks sure act like it does.
My brunchly feast turns out to be the only meal of the day as I laze along RDOSing until impending sunset. I might reheat some leftover lamb Korma and basmati from a few days ago. Or might not.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. …
Hey everybody … Tomorrow is a new MMP. So don’t goof up and keep posting here. Who’s got a good idea for a theme topic? I do, but it’s a secret. Maybe I’ll be first, but I’m not gonna post something wacky early just so I can be the topic-chooser. Prolly.
Happy Birthday Metalmouse! May you enjoy many more!
Hubs tries to eat low carb. He bought four cauliflower crusts and made one pizza. I took the rest to work and left them for the lunch room vultures.
Our work around is to put all of the stuff in a casserole dish and bake it up. I’ve learned to layer the grated cheese and then let it rest for ten minutes to let it set enough to serve without splooshing all over.
That certainly sounds good, I’ll give that a try next “pizza” night! Thank you!
She looks so content. She is a very lucky kitty to have found you two.
So, too many replys and not enough time. I have read all, though.
We got strong armed into going to lunch at Harry’s which was nice enough except I had already prepped our dinner. I enjoyed seeing all of the littles in their Easter finery, some tulle skirts were involved.
Harry’s brother’s son has started brewing beer so Hubs got to taste some different homemade stuff and had someone to share tips with.
The starlings have learned that I toss birdseed out in front of my french doors. Jolene gets so excited watching them she falls out of her chair, which scares them off and she runs around the house looking out the other windows in hopes of seeing them.
We didn’t have starlings in AZ but that one time, so I’m not really sure how to attract them, so I’ll keep tossing regular bird seed out and hope that’s enough.
We had extra plant starts that I didn’t want to just throw out cause that would hurt my heart. I put them up on nextdoor and someone came and got them. They were happy for the free plants and I was happy that they found a good home.
Mostly, I’ve been stitching and need to get back to it, so I’ll catch up later or tomorrow.
It has been one of the more slothful days I’ve had, what with no soccer and the gym closed, so after (over) eating from 5 Guys (I swear, one day I’m just going to get one of their large fries to go and see if I can go a whole day on that alone), it was computer and TV (found some classic Dr. Who) and nothing much else for the afternoon and now into the evening. Still 80F outside so not much reason to leave the (relatively) cool house.
And guess what…the water meter is showing I am using 35-40 gallons in a 24 hour period, when I’m only flushing 4-5 times a day and haven’t run the dishwasher. Will do the tests on the toilets to make sure I am not the one messing up, and do my hourly measurements again but I am really getting tired of this.
wet one, I can understand the bittersweet, but hopefully the new path will be of benefit to you.
I’m not a bagel eater for the most part, so seasoning one is not something I am conversant about. But the ingredients sound interesting. And I’ve never used DoorDash or UberEats in my life, just don’t have the need for it.
BBBoo,62 of 63 is a pretty good average in my book.
Oopsie, hope a Happy Easter day was spent with your friends.
Cookie, a lovely Sadie shot.
Pilot, they used to have a little (not a diner) restaurant here called Libby’s, no French chef but good home cooking; pretty much only breakfast now since all the chains have moved in.
Never have worried about gluten in my diet, in general I have a ‘seafood’ diet (that is, I see food and I eat it).
He don’t know me very well, do he?
Coppertone, music is in our soul, IMHO, so music in church is just fine with me.
FCM, at least you got to see Mom and keep the family connections good.
And that’s all for now. May watch the Cleveland Cavs for a bit and we’ll see if I do a McArthur and return before sleepage.
Howdy Y’all! Easter deheathenization was wonderful. Big crowd cause the c&es show up. There was a nice reception with all kinds of nummy stuff, so we got fed. Nappage occurred and then we had a good time with JDD and Partner. The biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Also tomorrow night is men’s night so steaks are marinatin’ and beer is chillin’.
BooFae we sat out at the cee-mint pond, but didn’t get in the water. We stuck our feet in and the water is still too cold. Maybe in a couple of weeks.
I pigged out on too much Easter chocolate, throughout the day.
Maybe tomorrow I’ll go to the stores and look for any leftover Easter chocolate.
Maybe I have a chocolate problem.
It’s basic cuke and onion marinated in a vinegar solution. I always guessed that the name was of German or Polish origin, given that it was what that side of the family called it.
Late Night final now, it’s after 9pm, Cleveland won and all else is quiet, so some final reading and puzzling and off to slumberland. Tomorrow marks day 1 of my 73rd year on this planet and I am still feeling good about it (or at least happily resigned to it).
swampy, glad the Easter celebration went well. Who is C&ES if I may ask?
So say we all, MG; so say we all.
And that’s all for the week that was. See all y’all on the week that will be.
I’m guessing Christmas and Easter Sunday Whiskeypalians. Who have Catholic counterparts~ a swath of those cat-lickers add a third, Ash Wednesday, especially if their mom is going to see them that day.
19:30, and we’re watching a documentary series on Mozart. Before, whilst we were eating ham, we watched Amadeus. The Spousal Unit had never seen it. I saw it in the cinema when it was released. ‘News travels fast in Vienna.’ ‘A miracle!’ Two lines I use to this day.
So I went to The quay for Easter ribs with Tig and C. And we had surprise guest, Stef, the daughter of one of my long time Hockey Convention friends. We also sand “Happy Birthday” to her Dad via Facetime. Thus ends vacation Day 1
