Our cats have only ever gotten wet food, which vets are always happy to hear. It’s more expensive than dry, but they are healthier and live longer, it seems.
Good morning all. Managed to sleep through until 7am without my bladder getting me up during the night, so not a bad start to the day. A Big Bowl O’Cereal is on the menu after I finish this, then a noontime termite inspection, gym time, and coaching 6-year old soccer will fill the afternoon. Cooler today, the high will be ‘only’ 68F, but no rain in sight so not a bad day to be about.
FCM, I do hope FCD feels better, what he sort of dreaded has been done and the real recovery can start, one hopes. Having the kids with him won’t hurt. And hippo-birdies to Roxy!
Sticky Buns, you might want to consider another estimate or two, I remember replacing my windows years ago, the first folks were in the same $4-5,000 range (IIRC), then the last one gave me an estimate of $20,000! Needless to say they were not my choice.
nellie, good luck with the job hunt (and the squirrels).
JtC, enjoy the tunder-boomers.
Can’t remember much of any tooth fairy stories, don’t recall ever catching my parents in the act however.
doggio, wish spot a happy Gotcha day for me.
enipia, congrats on the new house, having a two-car garage of your very own is a nice bonus-I have just the one and can barely get my car in there…you’ll see soon enough…
And that’s all for now, belly is complaining that it needs sustenance so off to the kitchen I go. Have a good 2sDay all.
Me too. Today is the BIIG laundry day with sheets and towels and beach towels. Oh, the drudgery!
I have no interesting tooth fairy stories. I think the going rate was 25¢ when I was in the tooth-shedding stage.
My life continues along with local entertainments and no recent or planned trips. Late last week the guy I roomed with for 3 months after my separation from Her Ladyship had a birthday & associated party with about 20 guests. Smoked beef & pork ribs and all the fixin’s. Good times.
Hard to beleive it’s now been almost 15 months since I separated and 11 months since I left his place for my own apartment. Been a great year-ish, certain unpleasant national events notwithstanding.
New GF is great fun and her logistical obstacles are progressing towards a resolution. I sorta feel like the dog that has almost caught the car. I sorta wonder what’s gonna happen when I do. Anticipation and trepidation. We’re both real up front about our respective goals and redlines and so far they’re in agreement.
Happy tax-paying day to one and all of the USA persuasion.
That’s the one that I broke when I was 17. Embarrassingly enough, there was no cool story behind it, only tripping over a crack in the sidewalk and trying to use my hands to break the fall.
Does MusicMan have any plumbing skills? Getting the old tub out (weight and upstairs) will be the big issue. Your water hookups are already there, all you have to do is connect the new shower up if you go for something like a fiberglass stall, then do the silicon work around it.
I hope that this helps the healing.
May you spend many more weird joyous years together!
Happy birthday Roxy!
I got sprung yesterday! After all of the paperirk and everything, we swung through the pharmacy to pick up 'scrips that had been there for several days (the normal ones), then came home.
Nelson was very happy to see me, and I him. We got a lot of cuddle time in. Sis swung through Cookout for stoner suppers for both of us and she’s hooked (it was her first time there). Right now, she went to Smart Art to scour the place for bargains. I sent the SA donation box, but forgot something that was outside of it. She’ll go back before she leaves (did I mention, she loves that place?).
I set up a follow up appointment with my PCP for tomorrow and PT begins Thursday. Right now, Nelson is loosing his ever lovin’ mind barking at the tree trimmers outside taking down the dead oak in front of my neighbor’s apartment. The other two aren’t even phased.
Sis is helping me do a bunch of things while she’s here. I may be ordering a new mattress to be delivered shortly and I’ll let her supervise the installation. We’ve gone through my clothes closet (we actually do this on a regular basis when she’s here) to find things that she can wear that I no longer do, things to be recycled into other projects and things to go into the rag bag. I have some things in the studio for her to take to the young woman she kind of adopted years ago when she taught her. Laura’s little girls will have a blast with all of the stickers (I wind up with those from MP buys and don’t use them).
So they moved Tim the Loader from 100 Bottom Red to the 300, and replaced him with the frail older lady. The result being me being pulled off the slide to load one of the cars, and the slide filling up. And for the first time, I wasn’t able to get it all done. So there was more Left in Building than should have been. But “Not My Circus, Not My Monkeys.” But spot has had his ice cube playtime, so it’s naptime.
Everybody’s too old for that. Congrats on a garage, though.
< clicks ruby work boots together in celebration >
He accepts your well wishes, and wonders if you know how to fix hot tubs.
Like FCM, I slept long and hard and awoke with a backache. Mine is due to arthritis, though. I have an appointment with the allergist today. I’m hoping to be able to self-inject the biweekly injections, at least sometimes, so I don’t have to plan around Shot Days. If I get a job, I don’t think “I can’t work Wednesdays” would help.
I dreamed last night that it was my first day working at a department store, and I and a group of twenty-somethings were getting orientated. I’d lied about my age to get the job but couldn’t recall if I’d said I was in my 40s or what and was trying to figure out what slang to use. Then I realized I’d forgotten to put in my contact lenses, so I was trying to act like I could see until lunch, when I could literally run home to put them in. Luckily I woke before my subconscious could decide I’d actually been nekkid all that time. (Note to self: Get a job. Put in contacts. Wear clothes.)
HAPPY GOTCHA DAY, SPOT!It was sure your lucky day when you got adopted by such a good guy. Doggio, Spot looks like cocktail hour started while you were at work.
FCM, I got a chuckle out of the story about your daughter. Smart kid! Even smarter parents. I may have told this story before, but when he was a kid, my brother gave up whole wheat bread for Lent. He hated whole wheat. Normally Mom was onto such tricks and would nip them in the bud, but that year, she said OK. While all the other kids were longing for the candy they’d given up, my brother was smugly eating sweets and avoiding ww bread. On Easter morning, everyone got candy in their Easter baskets except my bro, who got…a loaf of whole wheat bread.
red, so glad you got sprung! Are you feeling any better? How long will you be doing PT?
Goats on the Roof was a hoot and both kids got several baggies of gems. After that, we went to an “old time photo” place where daughter and her spawn dressed up, the ladies in long dresses and Tobias as a cowboy. We’ll scan and post them once we get home. Next was CiCi’s pizza for lunch. Now Daughter and her spawn are in the pool and I’m looking on.
Roxy wants Gorilla Tacos for her birthday supper. Other than that, no more plans for the day. Much chillage on tap.
Thanks. I’m still falling over myself about this place. 10 foot ceilings. Something tall people appreciate. I don’t feel ‘boxed’ in.
Yeah, we where looking at it. Two mid-sized SUV’s in one garage was gonna be real tight. That’s why we agreed “You take that one, I’ll take this one” Done deal. We will both have room for all the other stuff that life throws at you. I suspect she will have the bikes on her side. I get the lawn equipment/snowblower and tools.
Afternoon all. Have done my walking and bike riding to the tune of 750 calories burned, so don’t feel to bad about that bacon sammich I snuck in around noontime. No termites found by the inspection so that is good news, and soccer practice will be in about 90 minutes, followed by dinner. The heavyweight comforter is at the cleaners, going to cost me a little over $30, but it’ll be hanging in the closet until November, so pretty good value for money I think. 68F outside, so just about perfect weather.
Pilot, time does seem to move faster at our ages. I looked mine up based on the OP and as I commented then, it’s been 9 years now, and just doesn’t seem that it could be than long. And hope things on the GF front continue to be positive.
red, glad too hear that you are home (not as happy as Nelson is, of course). Glad that Sis could be there to help out.
No, but I do know how to fix bacon…
And 2nd apple has been gnawed to the core, so onward into the day.
That makes sense, BFF reports that one of her daughters has had to get a second job because her rent went up so much in January.
Is cat sitting an option? Cats really won’t starve if the don’t get their breakfast on time if you have a doctor appointment, they will just complain about it a bunch.
So I was the big sister and was the first one to lose a tooth. Mom loves to share the story of me being so happy with my dime that I tried to pull out of my other teeth (with fingers) and then tried to pull my sister’s teeth.
You are so right! The local hobbies are quilting, crocheting/knitting and cross stitch, needlepoint is new and different
It was a miserable day today, cold and gray and windy, so the shop wasn’t as busy. One man who looked to be hub’s age came in for eggs (she buys from several local folks), glanced over at my canvas and left, only to come back an hour later with his wife because she did cross stitch.
I’m going to bring in a couple of my American Needlepoint Guild magazines to share, it would be lovely to get a stitching group going. I know the trend is to do this sort of thing on Zoom anymore, but I still like sitting with a group of people who are all playing with string.
Such a lucky kittah to have someone as patient as you.
Hurray for Spot, he sure did get lucky when he found you!
Ouch! Burn!!! LOL!!!
Your back wants your bed back!
Roxy sounds me, talking to people can be so much fun. Teach her to write to her favorite actors and writers, I’ll bet she will be thrilled when she gets replies.
Congrats and I’m so sorry. Moving just sucks, no matter how much you are looking forward to it. Hurray for nice garages and not as much snow!
We had vaulted ceilings in AZ and our current place just has ten ft ceilings. 6 foot tall hubs kept saying how much smaller this place felt than our last place despite having almost 500 sf more. I didn’t notice it but I am horizontally challenged
That really is best according to our vets as well. We free feed kibble because we like being able to get a snack between meals and think that cats do as well. I’m too much of a softy to enforce diet rules on cats that I won’t follow myself.
Oh hurray! I’m so happy for you and Nelson. Good on you for getting stuff done while you have help, I’m the sort who would want a day to recover from being in the hospital with no sleep or critter.
I do love your Mom, that’s just perfect!
Hurray for everyone having a good time! I hope the tacos were good. What are gorilla tacos anyhow?
We have some bags of crunchy/soft treats that we give her. She had to have a lot of teeth pulled, so that’s about the extent of anything resembling dry food.
The local hobbies are gossip, quilting, gossip, crocheting/knitting, gossip, and cross stitch and gossip, needlepoint is new and different. Plus gossip.
Either that or she got an A in child abuse. Hard to say which.
It’s taco Tuesday at a beach a few miles from home. Quite the party on a perfect spring day.
That is both diabolical AND hysterical! Thank you for the hearty laugh - I gotta try to remember to share this one at work.
We were dead-ass slow and I procrastinated on a buncha stuff yesterday, so after a whopping 4.5 hr shift, I whined enough to be sprung free.
Stopped at the Walliest of Worlds for a few supplies, including - { suspenseful noises } - EGGS, and managed to get out without having to take out a loan.
Even with that, I got home in plenty of time to let Monks have some outside time - there’s rich, glorious sunshine, even if it is quite chilly.
Oh - he treed a cat!
There’s another black cat that hangs around - that one has orange eyes, so I call it Coppertop - and I looked out earlier to see Monks sitting at the base of a tree, staring silent daggers at the other black cat who was twenty feet up.
Whelp { slaps thighs } now that I have eggs I have everything needed to build another tomato/spinach quiche.
Suppose I should get my ass up & get stuff accomplished.
Gorilla Taco is the name of the Mexican restaurant. They all enjoyed it. My arroz con pollo was drowned in cheese and I didn’t much like the seasonings. Anyway, we’re back in my room and the kids are enjoying the jacuzzi tub. When they’re done, we’ll have b-day cupcakes.
Tomorrow we’re going to Ober Mountain for the tram ride and the ski lift ride and whatever else they have. Weather promises to be loverly. And we’re halfway thru our mini-vacation. And, yes, I miss my bed.
Howdy Y’all! Been home a bit from Eucharist, but needed chill time. OYKW is already abed. Laundry got laundered and put away. Nappage occurred and sup got et. I even remembered to return the oh so excitatin’ book to BP today. Go Me!
red yay for gettin’ sprung and bein’ back home with Nelson. I bet he has not let you out of his sight.
enipla conga rats on the new digs!
JtC and Pilot there’s a group of ladies who meet in the church parish hall to knit, crochet, do needle point etc. The unofficial name of the group is “Stitch and Bitch.”
Great idea! I’ve done cast-sitting, too. Aside from feeding and giving meds, I also exercised them through play.
You were an entrepreneur!
You really would’ve loved her if you’d known her. She was pretty great. She’d have loved you, too! I wish I could tell her some of your stories. She’d have loved them!
Mom would’ve been thrilled!
I’m going to share this with my sister, who’s very involved in her church. She’ll love it.
