That sounds like a really good ramble.
How maddening!
He already had a gauged ear. He’s used to me buying him odd looking earrings!
(Seriously? He agreed to me putting on one his key chain and another one on his wallet. I’m not sure that he remembers that, but he didn’t object when I tagged his motorcycle so who knows. His life is happier now as well. He’s stopped drinking the orange flavor-aide and has a happy wife.)
You can use the ship’s app for free while you’re on the ship. It’s got a good handful of other functions (like making dinner reservations or checking schedules, too).
To text, you need a cell phone plan. At sea, that’s very expensive. If both people bought ship’s internet packages (also typically expensive), they could email each other, or use something like Meta Messenger.
It was slightly cooler today. But we were shorthanded. I was loading 300 Top White, having to help on the next set, and they kept pulling me up to the Sort Table. So the drivers had to help me finish loading, they all left late, and there still was a metric butload of left behinds. The clean up wasn’t too bad, apart from the late start. I did my Senior Day shoping afterwards. Spot was wanting attention when I got home, till he got bored with me and wandered off. I got in a late and short nap. Now I’m up. Smoked Paprika Chicken and a Jungle Bird on the menu.
“Co-worker who occasionally wanders off” annoying or “Shaggy” annoying? Because one of those go to 11.
I like it. And the creases add texture.
{{{{sticky}}}} hope you and the doc both feel better.
< clutches pearls and falls onto fainting ottoman >
It’s not paranoia if everyone is out to get you…
Nowadays things either die immediately or last for their design lifespan.
Unlike the online application process, we do see you.
Morning here in Zeebruge, Belgium, I am sitting in a lounge 17 decks up watching a busy freight port deal with 3,500 tourists (lots and lots of buses). My tour isn’t for 2 hours so can lounge about for a bit. Other folks are going nuts trying to get to Bruges, but I’ve been to my share of Euro cities so I can pass. Heading out on a tour to Flanders and enjoy the countryside.
Hope FCM/FCD have a good flight and one of these days Coppertone things will go right. Happy dehumidifying pilot and all the best to all of you and yours (including pets).
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Hopefully your ship has a better visit than SS Royal Daffodil did.

ETA: Doggio beat me by 3 minutes. The dirty … dog!
GMTA. Us, too.
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 16c/61f with a predicted high of 23c/74f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Clouds fucking suck. At least they aren’t fucking filled with screeching children”. Weather app clearly knows we have a massive campus open day and are expecting thousands of visitors. Hopefully none of them screeching though.

I’m home and wow! Nothing like corrective lenses.
Sounds like they are making a real difference already! I hope the weird eye feelings fade away soon.
metalmouse enjoy your tour of Bruge-on-Sea Lots of pretty little towns in that part of Belgium.

she really needs to eat more, and she loooooves chicken.
What a lucky girl, I hope she enjoys her treat. It’s difficult when they’re not eating and you need to find the perfect food to tempt their appetite. I hope she takes to the ramp too, it will make her life so much better. We bought some soft steps for Shadow and Ophelia as they aged. She used them to get onto the bed without any difficulty but he would not entertain the idea. Instead, we made a set of steps from books and other stuff which he used, so maybe the soft ones were too soft for that tough old rascal.

“Co-worker who occasionally wanders off” annoying or “Shaggy” annoying?
It was only drizzly rain yesterday so co-irker annoying. When it’s coming down in stairrods then it’s Shaggy annoying.
Yesterday was a good day in the end, I had a very busy morning with a few skip fires to deal with. Then I had a meeting with my manager which was very productive - I am sorry we aren’t keeping her, she’s so much better than the ADHD Squirrel. There was a College Forum in the morning that I didn’t attend, and a bbq in the afternoon that I also didn’t want to attend. I had some time owed back and so I was able to leave by 2.30pm and did a couple of errands in town on my way home. Fed the cats, cleaned litter trays, had some dinner and then went to collect 'im indoors from the station.
Today it’s cool with a nice breeze, I have a quiet day ahead and have a job to do that needs some concentration - there’s only two of us in the office today so I should be able to get on with that. It is campus open day today, so we are expecting thousands of visitors - there are already quite a lot of people around, my office looks out on the central space of the main campus so I can see the groups of people gathering for the campus tours.
The campus station today has a one-way system so the exit I use in the morning is exit-only all day, which means I will have to walk all the way round the entire building and across the bridge at the top, to get to the opposite doors which are entry-only all day. Or maybe I’ll go out to the main road and catch a bus instead.
Just arrived at Heathrow.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 88 and maybe sunny or maybe cloudy. TWPTB do not seem to know what might happen. There’s even a slight possibility of rain. Matters not to me as we have no where we need or want to be today. We shall be in high RDOS mode as is our wont. Sup will be ham steak, mac ‘n cheese, grilled zucchini and summer squishes, and rolls.
MOOOOOOM glag y’all made it to London safe and sound.
MetalMouse enjoy the tour of Flanders.
JtC hope there won’t be a lot of floodin’ as a result of all the rain.
Coppertone you are seen here. Hope you get the application woes sorted out today.
BooFae hope the hoard of folk don’t interfere with your gettin’ home too much.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Firday Y’all!
Got our bags. Customs was just a walk-thru. We’re waiting for the Hotal Hoppa to take us to the Holiday Inn Express. We both need a shower and a sleep.
Happy Firday!
And we got right into our room, but it was just about the farthest one from the elevator - quite a hike! I find it interesting that you need you room key card to operate the elevator and the room lights.
We’re having lunch, then we’ll go back up and crash. Or shower. Or both.
Woot! The chat vacation off to a good start! So glad you are able to get right to your room to decompress.
The blister is down, still a bit dilated. Heading to the eye doctor in 45 minutes.
Mornin’ all - About 0830 as I start to drivel. Been up since shortly after the 0630 sunrise. We’re enjoying hazy skies today courtesy of the Saharan dust which also prevents hurricanes. Presently 84/29 on the way to 91/32 with puffies about and showers here and there all day.
Thus far the dehumidifier has been a total success. We’ll see how it fares going forward, but the early returns are simply smashing.
Need to make a Target run later, then have dinner & low-rent rendezvous w GF tonight / tomorrow morning. It’s been 11 days and we’re both about to burst. That’s the end of my plans for the entire future.
GF will be out of town most of July dealing with very aged parents. GF being 69 herself, her parents are definitely old. So I’m casting about for some other way to stay entertained in her absence. No predictions yet.
Metalmouse: Good luck w the Flanders excursion. Bruges isn’t much of an interesting place; more industrial than scenic.
Swampy: you’ve got that RDOS thing down cold. If I was partnered I’d be your disciple. Solo me needs a bit more restless activity to keep occupied. Go forth in high sloth!

What happens when clouds filled with screeching children start to rain screeching children? It won’t be nearly as nice as this happening:
Welcome to London there Moom. Doubly good to be able to get your room promptly; the alternative doth sucketh greatly.

I find it interesting that you need you room key card to operate the elevator and the room lights.
Nowadays a lot (a majority?) of hotels in urban areas around the world require the room key to run the elevator. Keeps the riff-raff off the guest floors.
In countries other than the USA, needing a room key to operate the lights (and HVAC) is pretty universal in newish hotels whether urban, suburban, or rural. In the USA it’s rare, but becoming more common in new-built or newly renovated hotels. It’s all about ensuring the room consumes zero heat, cooling, or electricity when unoccupied.
Which can be a PITA if the weather outside and hence temp in your room is not good and you’re going out and returning later. If you get 2 keys, one can be left in the lights/HVAC switch slot and take the other with you.
Pro-tip: In most hotels that slot doesn’t read the key card - it just needs a card-shaped thing stuck in there. So keep a key card when you check out and add it to the miscellaneous gizmos in your travel bag for next time.
Won’t be an issue for you sleeping on a ship, not in hotels. But this might help somebody else.
Time for shevelment and prospecting for breakfast.
Cheers and a glorious Firday to all!

I use an old train ticket - we get these from our ticket machines and they fit perfectly into the slot, and keep the lights on
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Not a whole lot slated for the day except more packing (gonna have to make donation trips this weekend).
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Good morning, everyone.
It’s 58°F and cloudy outside. It is expected to be generally cloudy all day, with a high temperature of 69°F. We received some nice rain late yesterday afternoon and into the evening, so I don’t need to worry about watering anything today.
FCM, I’m glad you’ve arrived in London without any issues. It sounds like the trip is off to an auspicious start.
Enjoy your tour, Metal Mouse.
I am not sure what today holds for me. The husband claims he’ll be going to the grocery store today, but he’s been saying that for well over a week, so we’ll see what happens. He also wants to go out to lunch.
Not much else going on, I guess. I’m dreading the upcoming week, especially next Friday. I have an appointment at the vet for both pups this coming Sunday to address their itching and licking issues. I think I’ll try to get some tranquilizers for them as well, because poor Maisie just about lost her mind last year.
I tried finding a cabin rental that would accept two large dogs, but was unsuccessful.
Okay, time to get rolling. Be well.
pilot - I figured the elevator card deal was security-related and I approve. I also figured the card-for-lights was power-saving. Good to know for future trips.
We both showered and slept. FCD continues to snooze. I was awakened by a message from our house-sitter so I dealt with that, and now I’m wide awake, but the edge is off my exhaustion. I’m inclined to stay awake till a normal bedtime.
We’ll have an early breakfast tomorrow and catch the Hoppa back to terminal 5 and find the cruise reps. They’ll take our baggage and we’ll board the bus for the ride to Dover. I may start a thread just about my travels… or should I just keep posting updates in the MMP? Opinions?

Opinions
My preference? Just keep updating here in our MMP.
Kinda like the keycard for the elevator-it’ll help keep the riff-raff* out.
*riff-raff being the Straight Dope negative nabobs who like to horn in with unsolicited opinions to tell us we’re going it wrong or you must visit this or that and do everything exactly how they did it or you”re wrong and to be scorned.
Maybe I’m being cranky this morning. Just now started #2. And my usually Velcro morning cat is neglecting me. I meow-called her and she just now poked her head up from her sleeping spot in the corner of the bay window seat two yards away to say: “yah, you called, whadda want?”. Then laid her head back down and resumed sleeping-clearly my needs do not matter.
