(Old) Everybody's hiding under a rock in the MMP

No pics - I wasn’t going to be one of those people whose phone blinded everyone behind. Plus I was watching the show, not waiting for a photo op! I do wish I’d captured his pink 3-piece sequinned suit, tho. It was something else!

One thing I meant to mention - most of the crowd was our age! I expected a college crowd, considering the venue, but there was much gray hair and many canes! FCD said it was like being on a cruise ship!!

All thru the show he mentioned items “for sale in the lobby” but afterwards, I heard some people complaining because there wasn’t anything for sale! I think a few wanted the Make America Fabulous Again hats.

Legal, and his name from birth. I was surprised when I looked him up and found he’s almost 42 - I thought he was maybe mid-30s…

I had a pretty good sleep - even tho I woke stoopit early, I fell back to sleep, so yay! While I was making my breakfast, I heard a clatter, and ran to help MIL get to the bathroom - I was up and about and she still wouldn’t call for help. heaven help us if her mind goes…

Looking at the forecast ( like it can be believed!!) I see rain promised thru Weds, then 3 or 4 nights dropping into the 30s again, then FINALLY some spring weather. I feel like I’ll never get my planting done. Dammit. Except I do have 3 of 4 planters where I think I’ll put some 'maters. Those, at least, can be covered easily at night. I just need to augment the soil.

Anyway, the rain isn’t supposed to hit here till noon-ish, so maybe we can get to the boat and back before then. I need to take my new stovetop unit to see how it’ll fit where I want it to go. Initial measurements are discouraging, dammit, but we’re engineers so we should be able to figure something out.

For now, tho, the household is quiet and I get my me-time. Yay!

Happy Sunday and Happy Easter - hope the Easter Bunny left you many goodies!

This morning’s breakfast will be our only nod to Easter. We do a traditional Polish breakfast (per the wife’s upbringing) of scrambled eggs, Polish sausage and babka, with the butter lamb staring balefully at us.

Dinner is lamb chops, saffron rice with toasted almonds, and asparagus.

Mornin’ everyone.

It’s 39 degrees Fahrenheit and mostly clear outside. The high temperature is supposed to be around 63 degrees Fahrenheit, with partly cloudy skies.

It’ll be a quiet day, much like any other around here. My only nod to spring is making some tater salad to accompany today’s dinner. It’ll be just me, the husband, and the pups.

I just about filled up my yard waste bin yesterday weeding the three spaces next to our driveway. Most of that was the stupid dead needles that fell from a crappy neighbor’s tree and covered the whole damn side of the house. It’s stupid place for that kind of tree and throws so much shade that I have to demoss that side of the driveway every year.

Cookie, I saw a recipe for babka that uses 96 egg yolks! That’s a lot, but from what I understand, it’s a rather old-time and specialized recipe.

sticky buns, sending you hugs just because it seems you need them. You’ve been dealing with a lot of stressful things lately, so it’s no surprise. I hope your hip and all start feeling better soonest.

Alrighty then. Need to finish my coffee and get to the gettin’ sto’ for some ingredients.

Morning all. Early to bed last night meant early to rise this morning, so made it out the door by 7am to do the NY Times run (also picked up milk, tomatoes and apples while I was there). Then gassed up car, all those Kroger points got me a full tank for $2.09 a gallon, don’t think I have paid that small an amount in a long time. No gym today, it (and lots of places) are closed for Easter, so after dinner at Logans, will probably embark on a afternoon of sloth. Might even get outside some; weather is still pretty and 60Fheading for 80F this afternoon.

shoe, glad I would have lost my bet and you got out on time. Sometimes I think they should be looking at you for shift management.

Sticky Buns, Blah indeed. Hope the achy parts stop aching soon. And get to the Doc’s/ER if they don’t

Sari, hope both Echo and Sah-Son are doing better–and take care of yourself, too!!!

What you mean there are people who don;t like bacon??? Blasphemy!!!

Safe journey home, JtC and Hubs. That is a powerful lot of driving in a 7-10 day span. Glad the new home is set and hoping everything else works out as planned. And looked up Vega, Texas; that’s a whole lot o’nothing out there, IIRC.

Pilot, pasta and meat & drink nearly back-to-back. Glad the conversation was good, I could almost hear the cholesterol growing…

FCM, glad boat moved and Mr. Rainbow appreciated. I bet FCD needed some ‘me’ time just as much, if not more, than you did.

Dicey, hope the new tax guy works out. Been using Turbo Tax for so long that I forget how bloody complicated it can get.

swampy, Happy Savior-Raising Day. Feast well.

OK folks, onward into the brave new world of the day’s internetting, then in acouple of hours dressing more or less appropriately and heading to Logan’s Roadhouse for dinner. Take care all.

Happy Easter to all who celebrate!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and most of Easter dinner in the crock. I was going to actually do the roast in the oven, but it’s supposed to get into AC temps today and I don’t run the oven when it’s that warm (no cross ventilation in my apartment, so it keeps the AC on constantly).

After KP, I’m going to do Sunday chores and then work in the studio.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. I changed out my sheets and comforter with Spot’s “help”. Cleaning and laundry continues.
:rabbit: :egg: :amphora:HAPPY EASTER!!!:amphora::egg: :rabbit:
To those who celebrate. Happy last Sunday in March to the heathens.

You can tell that recipe was created by Big ChickenTM

Normally I take a blessing basket to be blessed on Holy Saturday but not this year. So Hubs had multi-grain cheerios with sliced banana and slivered almonds and I had 2 slices of raisin cinnamon toast. Heck. Wish I’d had the Polish breakfast. Maybe I’ll make some hard boiled eggs now.

Having ham steak, green bean casserole, cranberries and scalloped potatoes for dinner.

Happy Easter! :lotus:

WifeBFF wound up cancelling dinner Friday evening (we agreed to try again the next day/yesterday). Frankly, I was just as happy to stay home with the doggy that night.

Yesterday was a long-but-good day. It started with a 10am personal training session: I’d intended to go to my office (to pick up the iPod I’d accidentally left there) between that and the start of setup for the volunteer event, but when I got home I realized there wasn’t actually enough time and I’d have to go afterwards instead. I took the doggy out, ate a quick lunch while getting everything together that I needed for the event, then showered and dressed and headed out. The event itself went well, and during it WifeBFF texted to say that she was feeling a little better and I should join them for dinner (yay!). It ended at 4pm: cleanup didn’t take long, the trip out to my office was relatively painless, and I got to my BFFs’ place at around 5:30.

HusbandBFF’s sister and BIL were visiting from WV: they used to visit every Thanksgiving and one or two other times a year, and over the last 20+ years they – and their two sons – have become like extended family to me. In a nice surprise, their youngest was with them! He’s in his late 20s and single, and lives with them sometimes (his path has been unconventional, but seems to work for him). I’ve known him since he was a kid, but hadn’t seen him in a few years. They also had their new puppy with them! Piper is a 7-month-old Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix, and sooooooo cute.

Dinner was ham, plus mac-and-cheese made by my “nephew” (my BFFs’ 22-year-old son). He used five different kinds of cheese, which sounds like it would be overwhelming but was quite yummy. He’s a pretty good cook, and is especially good with pasta sauce and mac-and-cheese. He’s the one who is super into Legos and inspired me to get my first set last year, and I renewed my “favorite aunt” status by telling him that when I return the extra grand piano set he can go to the Lego store with me and help me spend the store credit/gift card. (He may be an adult, but aunt duties never end!)

Anyway, it was really good to see everyone. By the time dinner was over I was wiped out from the long day, and I headed home at around 8:30pm. I feel like I slept well/long enough last night, but today I’m a little tired (just kind of “meh”) and I was congested when I woke up. I have some volunteer-related stuff to do – including followup from yesterday’s event – but I’ve decided it can all wait and that I’m giving myself a true day off. It’s supposed to hit 65°F later, after some mid-day rain: I could see taking Bailey for an early afternoon walk, and following it up with a nap. Or maybe even napping first. After an early lunch and catching up on the current season of Home Town. It’s life in the fast lane at Casa Misnomer today…

HA!! :joy:

(But now I’ll have “baa baa baa” stuck in my head all day… :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: )

Every time I read this I think you’re asking about the weather in her pants. Which, yanno, to each their own…

The Missus has been studying her Bible for months. It’s important to her that I go to church with her today, so I’ll go. We should be home by 12:30 or so, so I’ll make the ham and all-rotten potatoes when we get home. The ham is 8⅔ pounds, so I reckon it will take about three hours.

Argh. The 40 is closed at Flagstaff.

We are not happy, we miss our kitties and want to go home.

A dear sweet friend of mine just admitted to me that he was an alcoholic and needs to go to rehab. I already knew this from his daughter, but it’s the first time he has told me the truth. I feel for him. He has had a long, hard life including the suicide of his first wife.

Thanks for the well wishes. I took some Aleve and I am feeling a little better physically. I am damn crabby today, though. I am so tired, but I want to wait until MusicMan goes to work before I take a nap.

Oh, and, we sound like the beginning to a joke - one catholic, one baptist, and one Jew live in this house, so we’re not really into celebrating holidays. And Easter is no different.

Ok, off to do a bit more work… Maybe.

Not exactly. I’m leaning towards the older, smaller, more expensive, but much swankier one. Until I’ve actually seen the interior and view of the newer, larger, cheaper, but less swanky one I won’t make a firm decision. Which viewing will either be tomorrow, or will have to wait about 10 days until I get back from my first trip.

The newer, etc., one is the one where my hand will be forced first. In about 3 weeks they’re gonna insist I either sign a lease or let it go. At which point it’ll be snapped up in a day or two (at most) by somebody else.

I’m not worried about losing the other later one meanwhile; it’s mine for sure as long as I’m ready to pull the trigger whenever it finally becomes available. In fact one of my tasks for tomorrow is to ask them if they have any update on the availability date. It’ll definitely be well after the newer, etc., place is taken by either me or somebody else.

Long nights out are the best kind. Although Nooksack (awesome name!) looks like an awkward place to get to from your home area.

I suppose we could say that almost all’s well that ends sorta well. Bravo on a glass at least 2/3rds full.

As to why they all wanted pizzas for Easter, it’s pretty simple.

For a lot of families, Easter is almost as big as Thanksgiving for everyone gathering at Grandma’s, or Aunt Jane’s place, or … . Then they all sleep over and go to sunrise service, or else the attend the Easter vigil in the evening. In either case, on Sat evening they’ve got a gaggle of people and they’re hungry and the family is probably making a big feast tomorrow, so didn’t today and …

I know! PIZZA!! Nobody else will want that so we won’t have a long wait.

Oops on them and chaos on you and your crew.

Hooray for all of that, from iPod to dinner to Lego Nephew to Mac-n-Cheese.

Back from Church. On the way home my wife said, ‘The one time I get you to go to church, and the pastor bashes Biden.’ Yep, he lost me at politics. The ‘We support Israel’ sign out front tipped me off. Then there was a complaint about the southern border, and finally a full-on Biden bash.

I wore khakis, a pink-and-white pinstriped shirt, and a tweed sport coat. A lot of the other people at the Calvary church were wearing jeans and T-shirts. The ballcap-wearing men and boys did not remove their covers indoors.

Anyway, the ham is in the oven and should be done in about three hours.

Afternoon all/ Usually at this time I am at the gym and pedaling away, but said gym is closed for Easter so after Logan’s provided the main meal of the day, I drove around a bit and ended up a Bridge Street Station (see: Bridge Street Town Centre - Wikipedia) with the idea of seeing a movie, but about the only things playing were Dune 2 and Godzilla v Kong 2 and I wasn’t in a mood for either, so went window and store browsing, ended up killing 90 minutes and buying 2 swimsuits and a Kit-Kat bar. Now home and nappage is a real possibility, guess all the soccer yesterday took the energy out of me. Warm (74F) but cloudy and while no rain is expected, the skies look dark.

Oopsie, glad you could get together with BFF’s. The WV folks live anywhere close to where JtC is planning to settle down?

JtC, looked at the Flagstaff AMTRAK station on Virtual Railfan, doesn’t look that bad, but out in the open lands it might be too slick to drive safely. Be careful.

Pilot, just as long as you are happy wherever you end up.

Flyboy, pastors playing politics is a big no-no to me too, glad you kept tongue in cheek. Enjoy the ham!

OK, nappage seems like a good idea right now. Take care all.

If I were to start going to church, I think it would have to be Episcopal. I think they’re (one of) the most liberal.

It doesn’t get to joke status until you get the clergy involved. :d&r:

flyboy, it sounds like the pastor is looking to get the church’s 501(c)3 status revoked and have to begin paying taxes.

Easter dinner was good (poke roast with carrots, onions and mushrooms, rice with spring peas and steamed cabbage).

When I walked Nelson right before dinner, he and the puppy (chi / small terrier mix) across the fence, Lupio, were getting into play stance and chasing one another up and down the fence as far as their retractable leashes would allow while Lupio’s dad and I talked. We set up a play date at the dog park for next weekend.

My roomie saw Godzilla v Kong 2 last night and said it was great non-stop action. Whether that constitutes a pan or an endorsement depends on your POV. But he had fun. And despite being a fogey did not complain that it was too loud. Although he goes to movies often so would seem to be used to how they are these days.

The nice part is neither of them could possibly be a gross error; both are plenty good enough. And 12 months later I can do something else if a better idea appears. Actually, if these really turn out dumb or my life takes a complete turn in an unexpected direction, I can get out of the lease for only a moderate bite on the ass.

I love rolling dice where every side is a win. Doesn’t happen often in life, but when it does …

They are. My late wife was big in that church. And she chose that denomination after a bunch of learned searching for that very reason.

Nevertheless, there are some Episcopal congregations and pastors that are trying hard to split away and become arch-conservative. And those folks are always a noisy minority at the equivalent of national conventions. Trying hard to ensure everyone knows Jesus (and therefore god) was actually an intolerant selfish bigot. Morons.

We took a ride to the marina with MIL just to get her out of the house. It was chilly, but the rain didn’t start till we got home, so there’s that. Then I ordered pizza, which we’ve just finished eating.

Yep, excitement central here.

Earlier I rearranged the furniture in the basement and set up MIL’s TV down there for our use. I’ll be getting rid of that gawd-awful FireTV - we hates it we do!!! I also stayed down there reading for a while because it was quiet - MIL needs the TV volume cranked up and even at that, she’s constantly asking “What did they say?” So I hid in the peaceful lower level. I think that may become my new favorite place!

Daughter sent pics of the kids at my niece’s house. My sister had a stroke of genius - for the egg hunt, each kid was assigned a color and those were the only eggs they could pick up. That’s because last year, Grayson went on a tear and grabbed most of the eggs before the other kids had a chance. This year, they could only take eggs that matched their baskets. Brilliant, methinks!

But I’m glad we weren’t there. My family can be LOUD and I just wasn’t in the mood for that. Chillage is the order of the evening.

Howdy Y’all! We had a large and in charge deheathenization with a big crowd to start the day. Then it was back to da cave for festivities and the big feast. We ate at one-thirty and everyone was gone by three-thirty. I love company comin’ and goin’. The dishwasher is sloshin’ away and the biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Next up is Netflix and chill. Been a long day for da bear, so an early bedtime may be in store.

Sticky_Buns A priest, another verger, two acolytes, and a chalice administrator were also there, so I didn’t have to get Jesus up all by myself.

FlyBoy you might also like the ELCA. Just a thought for ya if’n you do start lookin’ for a church. Of course, I would also be happy if you became Whiskypalian.

Here is a video of today’s sermon. It is cued to 00:39, where the pastor’s offending remarks are.
