(Old) Face Off Against Moanday: A Start Of Hockey MMP

Apparently, the Rapture is tomorrow. So long. It’s been good to know you.

It would be something of a relief.

I hate it when that happens, really truly hate it. I feel so at the tech’s mercy and it ain’t fair.

I’ll be holding good thoughts for you all that it works out. Til then:

{{{{{{{{{{ hugs against tech woes }}}}}}}}}}

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

If any of y’all aren’t here after today, can I have your stuff?

that sucks.
< haves back >

Thank you.

Yes. I am a Sped Teacher, prognosticator of prognosticators, er, I mean, I am the writer of IEPs. Things could get real interesting today. I asked the second in charge supervisor to help with a couple of sections on my first IEP and her day was absolutely crazy, so as of about 8 last night she hadn’t looked at it. My meeting is at 11.

Oh, and sort of good news, at least from an anxiety standpoint, my main supervisor has been out due to sad family stuff and just came back. Since she’s trying to get caught up, there are other administrators who will be attending IEP meetings. I got an assistant principal who I have at least had a couple of conversations with. The next meeting after mine will be our (version of) the superintendent :face_with_peeking_eye: . I mean, he’s a very nice man, but I would be so much more nervous!!! I have one meeting today, two tomorrow, and one on Thursday.

One of the girls that cleans the house and a strong male family member of hers with a truck are going to deliver the loveseat today. You may have seen on FB that the recommended movers were going to charge $350 to move one piece of furniture less than 2 miles. I’m glad MusicMan will finally have a comfortable chair.

JtC I hope your troubles dissolve into the morning air or else you find a very inexpensive and simple fix.

Pilot yay for almost visit time with girlfriend!

Doggio, you’re not old! (For a tree or a hockey stick or something like that…)

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 68 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 90 and sunny. It’s laundry day! I feel like Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Independence Day and my birthday all rolled into one great big holiday. The rest of the day will be RDOS inactivities as is our wont. Sup will be leftovers from last night.

JtC hope the computer fix is an easy one. It’s no fun when the tech toys act up.

Sticky_Buns good luck with the IEPs.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Well, if you’d just pay attention and do what she wants… How hard is that??

Same here, but I did get a Bluetooth keyboard that works with the tablet (I bought it for the cruise) and except for occasional I-Don’t-Wanna-Connect issues, it works well.

That’s why he wants one. However, he (and I) think the one is rescue isn’t full blooded. In fact, I wonder if it’s another breed that resembles the wolfhound - there are several terriers that have similar coats and while big, they’re not that big. Anyway, it’s at a shelter in King George, VA (we used to live in King George) so the rescue folks are going to schedule a meet-and-greet after Otis is snipped.) More as developments warrant.

Some people just must have the latest and greatest. I never understood standing in line to be the “first to own” - but apparently it’s a big deal in some circles.

Which would be today as I write this. How many times has the Rapture/the End of the World/ whatever been promised but not delivered? I’m no Biblical scholar, but I seem to recall something about not knowing the day or the time…

Regarding sports - if FCD is watching, I may occasionally glance at the screen. Altho when we were on the cruise, rugby was frequently on the big screen at the pool deck, and I found that interesting to try to figure out. Back in the olden times, I liked to watch tennis. But mostly - meh.

And about computers, FCD wants me to swap mine. The ones we’re using were from his business, mine being the wussiest of the 3. He wants to use it in the shop for one of his machines. Then I’d get the lesser of the two in his office. So I’m making folders of stuff I want transferred. No clue when that will happen - after the boat is done, no doubt.

As for phones, one I had was old enough that Consumer Cellular said it would no longer work in the soon-to-be-upgraded network, so I had to upgrade. I’ve had a couple since - it seems as soon as I get comfortable with what I have, I need to get another. To be fair, I did get a cheapie before the current one and it was pretty crappy, as its price point should have indicated. I think my current Samsung will be good for a while.

FCD is off to the boat again - apparently the fuel hoses he’d had made up are all the wrong lengths (his error, not the fabricator.) He didn’t want to use hose barbs and clamps, so he paid a lot of $$ for these hoses and now he’s got to pay more to make them fit. He seems to dislike the notion that good enough is good enough. He wants to go for the platinum design. Not just in this, but in everything. Because apparently having a certain brand name makes all the difference. Yeah, sometimes it does, but sometimes it’s higher cost for the name alone. I’m pretty sure his mom instilled that in him.

My plan is to dig up at least some of the iris. It’s going to be warm today (80s) so I don’t know how long I’ll last. We’ll just see how the day plays out.

Happy Tuesday!!

i’m kinda hoping for the rapture to go the other way. a carrying off of those who are friendly to the worse angels of our nature.

Good morning all. With only on early one bathroom break I managed to stay abed until 7:40am today, so hopefully have caught up from my active (for me) day yesterday. Should have rain this morning and more around 1pm so glad I have no major need to be out and about today. 70F outside heading to 85F later.

That’s kind of what I thought too. Thanks for the endorsement doggio

Flyboy, don’t care about the Rapture, more worried about any rupture at my age…

Sticky Buns, I’m sure the meetings will be just fine and enjoy your new loveseat.

FCM, I don’t know if you’ll end up with him or not, but Otis is a great name… And I’ve always been a “B-grade” person, I don’t need the top of the line but somewhat better than average will do for me.

As for sports, I’ll watch pro tackleball on Sundays and soccer most anytime I can find it on the telly, but not committed to seeing something particular, except maybe the Super Bowl–and that’s mostly since I allow myself a Big Bag of potato chips for that one event each year.

And need to break fast with a Big Bowl O’Cereal and an Envy apple (we’ll see if it tastes as good as the last time I tried them). Have a good 2sDay all.

Mornin’ all.

It’s dark, 50°F, clear, and sunrise is about 40 minutes away. It’ll be sunny today, and our daytime high will reach around 81°F. It’s projected to start cooling down over the next several days; however, I leave on Thursday, and daytime temps will be in the 80s there. I’m sure the weather is a big disappointment to my daughter because she loves autumn.

Sticky, yay for new furniture.

JtC, I’m sorry about your tech woes. I hope you find a workable solution soon. I was also going to suggest an attachable or Bluetooth keyboard. Please be careful.

My cell phone is over six years old. I know I have to give in soon and get a new phone, but I’m trying to stretch it out as long as possible. The battery life is not as good as it was when new or even a couple of years old. I have the OnePlus 7Pro, which takes amazing pictures and has been a trouble-free phone. I want another OnePlus (I like Androids), but they’re not cheap. I tend to spring for spendier phones because I hang onto them for a while. My husband, who cheaped out, is always complaining about his phone.

VanGo, I’m glad both lenses were discovered outside of Ms. Peach.

Nellie, I don’t know about Florida law, but here, when scammers used my husband’s card, we got all our money back. I think they put around 500 bucks on the card, so much less than your sister. This is why I have text alerts set up for each card use. Unfortunately, my husband does not.

It’s time for more coffee. After my husband is up, I’ll wash the bedding. I washed all the rest of the laundry yesterday.

Take care of yourselves.

No rain. Woot. Probably going to the Y. Its been a week.

Yay on getting your new love seat moved for less, sticky!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. I have to contact the office when they open (she’ll be logged on in a few minutes) to see if a package was left at the mailbox and taken in last evening. If not, I’ll have to contact da Jungle to tell them that it didn’t arrive (no pics and it was supposed to be delivered Prime). I’m beginning to think that anything that I order needs to be sent to Sis’, given their track record since the move.

Nothing really big planned for the day, so RDOS, here I come.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Down in Burien today. I left the house at 4:21, and clocked in at 06:37. So 2:16 for the drive and climbing the stairs waking the computer. I had to take a longer way to the freeway, as there was a sign saying my usual onramp would be closed. Anyway, I’ll get out early today. I have a meeting with our financial advisor at 09:00, then there’s a staph beating from 10:00 to 11:30, then the one-on-one from 14:00 to 14:30. And then I’ll clock out at 15:07.

I just finished digging up between 75 and 100 iris (just a guess, but probably pretty close.) There are still some more out there, but I’m sweaty and there’s time before the landscapers come and tear up the hill. I’m hoping to save a bunch of daylilies, too, but I’m not sure where I’ll plant everything. The trick is finding spots that have enough sun for enough hours. Once the landscapers are done, I might be able to intermingle my plants with what they put in. Or adjacent. We’ll see in a month or so.

I have no idea what colors the iris are - very few bloomed this year. I don’t know if it’s due to the crappy soil or the lack of rain. I’m thinking of putting them closer to the house so I can monitor them better. We’ll see.

For now, I need to cool down and maybe read a bit till lunch time. We’ve got rain in the forecast for the rest of this week and much cooler temps next week - with luck, I can get it all finished then. We shall see…

Ahem. I think you mean a Steller’s Jay. Blue Jay vs. Steller’s Jay. Saw one at my parents, and my dad corrected me, so I’m sharing his wisdom. They don’t seem to have much fear.

So far the only time I’ve done that test is after my first ocular migraine (also known as a retinal migraine). Do other people get this test done regularly?

About 15 years ago I had a Swiss coworker whose son was playing on a hockey team in the U.S. Not NHL, some sort of minor league version? Football (European version) is a lot more popular. I don’t watch either.

When I was in my teams, I helped out the camp counselors with a younger group. They were supposed to have a pudding fight, followed by showers and a swim. Two of the girls refused as they wanted to eat their pudding. I could imagine that a MMP pie fight might get interrupted by pie eating.

Coconut cream pie is good eating. I don’t understand the draw of chawklit cream pie. It’s not enough chocolate.

I hear you. Good luck with the hardware.

I’m allowed, nay encouraged, to walk. So the last two days I did 1.5 km each and today 3.5 km. After being super warm at the end of last week, Sunday/Monday brought a lot of rain, and it seems the rest of the week will be drizzly.

Spent the morning watching Brooklyn 99, starting from the beginning. If I was a napping kind of person, I probably could have used a nap after my walk. Time to watch some more tv.

I ordered two items from the same place on Saturday without paying close enough attention to the delivery notes, and learned yesterday that I have to sign for them. :woman_facepalming: They’re each kind of expensive, so a signature makes sense; for whatever reason, I just glossed over that part. Anyway, of course they’re shipping separately – via different carriers, even.

The first item is arriving via FedEx, who can’t decide whether (a) they tried to deliver yesterday but I wasn’t home to sign for it so they’re trying again today (before 10:30am ), or (b) they tried to deliver yesterday but somehow have the wrong address, and are working on getting the right one. I’ve gotten multiple notifications with both statuses, and have also verified that the shipping address in my order confirmation is correct. One email that I got about the address said “go to this website to fix it”…which directed me to an automated customer service number…which told me that only the shipper can update delivery addresses. I’m working from home this morning just in case the signature thing is the case, but the later it gets the more I think it’s the address thing. I need to be in the office this afternoon, though, so I’m heading north once I finish this post. I haven’t had any real issues with FedEx in the past, but this horrible communication is super frustrating.

The second item is arriving via UPS, supposedly tomorrow. I will work from home – all day, if needed – to ensure I can sign for that one when it arrives. If the stars align, tomorrow is also when FedEx will get their s*** together and make the delivery; I’m not holding my breath.

I’ll be ordering from this place again, but next time I’ll arrange to pick up the item(s) from the store vs requesting home delivery!

Ayyyyye, 'tis.

(:joy:)

I get a few “special” tests every year due to my family history of glaucoma, and that’s one of 'em. They’re done at the optometrist, on top of my regular eye exam – but they’re billed to medical vs vision insurance.

That’s on my list of shows to rewatch every now and then…it might be time!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 15c/58f with no predicted change, and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Cloudy with a slight chance for a fucking stampede of drunken elephants. You might fucking want to run.” I didn’t see a single stampeding drunken elephant when I was out earlier, I feel cheated!

Of course not, they might retain it long enough to leave the lecture theatre but then it’s gone because they’re too busy debating where to go and get their pumpkin frothy excuse for coffee and hot milk. And you can bet they’ll be filling up our inboxes all week asking the same things that were covered in the induction talk.

Hitting things (and people) with sticks, and falling over?

That is excellent news, I hope there’s bodycam footage and your sister gets to see the looks of horrified surprise on their faces!

Aren’t those her instructions for how you should retrieve the squeaky ball for her and then play with it (and her)?

Stay safe out there!

Yesterday turned out to be busy and not very productive, apart from some productive griping with a colleague about lack of management around our team. I was glad to get home to the relative peace of the house - tended to the needs of cats, watched some tellybox stuff I’d recorded, had leftover curry for dinner, washed dishes, sorted out the rubbish and hauled the biiiiiig bin out to the kerb. Then it was pretty much time for the cats to have their treats, and for me to go to bed.

Today has been a working from home day, it’s been busy but productive and I have managed to sort out load of small skip fires. My minion came back from holiday and I was able to update him with all the stuff that’s been going on, so it was a mix of good and bad news. The other minion remains troublesome and yesterday, yet another person remarked on how exhausting it must be to act as her line manager. I agree, she exhausts me!

Tomorrow I am on leave so that will be a nice little break for me. I have things to do, so I will hopefully get a bit of a lie-in but not much as I need to be out of the house for a 10am appointment. For now, I have nothing else to do but potter through some little jobs and get myself logged out of work before I rack up too much extra time.

So today I was on 100 Top Blue. Which briefly gave me apoplexy, because 2 of the shelves had big orders on them, before they even got the 2 bulk orders on each. But Dispatch somehow managed to fix it. For once. It ended up being a short day, since Home Depot didn’t wreck a lot. On the way home, some dude in a black Tahoe was tailgating me(Dude, if you’re gonna ride my ass, pull my hair). He finally passed me on the right when we turned on a multi lane road, but I got schadenfreude because I caught up to him at the next two lights, then he had to slow down because there was a State Trooper with lights flashing behind a car sitting in the right lane(not sure if it was broke down, or just the driver pulled over in the most passive aggressive way and loacation they could). But I made a country ham, egg, and cheese mcmuffin for breakfast, so now it’s naptime.

I’m young, for a Greenland shark. :shark:

I just want The Lord to get on with it, so I can do some post-Rapture looting.

AHL, ECHL, SPHL, FHL

Heavy fog this morning. Not quite pea soup, but likely a meaty stock. Avocado toast this morning with scramble on the side. Have I mentioned that I’m an avocado whisperer? I almost always pick winners out of the bin. Tomorrow we go to pick apples; it’s supposed to be a lovely day in the 70s, so a nice fall atmosphere.

Sadie was off her feed yesterday, but seems to be back on track last night and this morning. She keeps close track of me. When I go into the shower, she meows pathetically. When I get dressed, she has to check out my closet for any lurking intruders. At present, she’s napping in her tent hideaway.

One of my grandsons, who has struggled in high school (mainly out of boredom) has been offered a path that is specifically for kids like him. He goes to classes on a shortened schedule and then can test out. It means that he can graduate this fall instead of next year. That incentive has him vastly improving in his grades and he’s already tested out in English. He has no college ambitions. His goal in life is to do automotive work and eventually own his own garage.

And several hours have passed and except for a Big Bowl of Cereal and an apple procured from the kitchen, have done nothing constructive this morning. Did get a lot of rain that the grass needed desperately and more possible this afternoon.

Sometimes you need a real sloth day and this looks like it…

red, hope the package made it.

That’s…the best description I have ever heard. Safe drive home.

FCM, happy Iris digging, I do not have the inclination or experience to do that but glad you are.

I get my eyes examined every year and can’t remember having anything like that. Have to look at a light and get puffs of air blown in my eyes.

Oopsie, sounds like an…oopsie…on the signatures, hope the stuff makes it.

boo fae, sorry minion is acting up, hopefully things will settle down (or she’ll transfer elsewhere–or maybeget Raptured…)

doggio, get those yahoos here, I’m doing 45 on a 40mph two-lane and they wonder why I’m going so slow…of course I know where the cops like to sit, so I’m tempted sometimes to pull over just before we get there…

cookie, glad to hear about your grandson, sounds like that school system actually is concerned about education for all.

And I think I need to move a little bit as noontime approaches. Catch y’all later.
