(Old) Falling Into The MMP

Glad you got your internet back fairly quick, swampy! I’d clutch my pearls, too!

Good memory you’ve got! And yes, if I find myself anywhere near that junction, I will take the pictures you want. I think it’s on the way to my folks’ place, so good chance.

I suppose you will poach all the best puns and leave everyone groaning and scrambling in your wake. Next you’ll be offering a finger and urging people to pullet.

Welcome home, dicey!

Glad you got some much-needed sleep, red!

It looks like a legit and time-honored treatment: According to Wikipedia, anyway.

Enjoy the treats, shoe! You deserve 'em!

Ollie and I chummed together and lazed around most of the day, except when I went out and did some easier repairs on an overhanging eave. One of the boards was sagging a little, so I nailed and stapled it back into place. One more job off the list. Then some laundry and house tidying.

Dinner was some leftover Hungarian goulash I made a week or so ago over noodles, small salad alongside. Easy and tasty, with enough left over for tomorrow.

Ollie is being the biggest boob right now. He wants to rassle with my arm, but when I stop so I can type, he rests his head on my right arm and whines pitifully. “Please play, Mom!! Pllleeeassse??” Guess I’d better get back to rasslin’.

Hope everyone enjoys their evening!

Soccer practice was called off again due to the heat and all games after 11am tomorrow are cancelled, so I ref at 8:30am and coach my U7’s at 10:00am and I’m done for the day. Spent some extra time at the gym today so maybe take a day of rest tomorrow (it’s heading back to 97F for the high, so afternoon outdoors is not likely).

And since I’ll be up early in the morning, will get the late-night final done now.

FCM, think it was still showing yesterday’s evening time, have reset it and hopefully it will behave now. I stocked up on my Pepsi last weekend (bought 3 12packs at $11.99, get three free, but your deal is even better). Sunday or Monday will be likely be laundry day here.

Dicey, can sympathize, table in the kitchen still has stuff I bought in Spain in April on it. And Amsterdam is one of my favorite foreign cities and Schipol one of my top airports to visit.

52, hope the cleaning is good and the cats well-behaved.

Bright Tree, I guess living in the Middle East for 4 years (where 90F is considered a normal Fall day) inured me to it, but the &*%^&% humidity is what gets me. Glad you finally accomplished the mission. Happy berry-picking!

If I ever went somewhere else to live (and given my age I really don’t want to pick up everything and leave), New Zealand would be my preferred second home.

Thank you, I’ll keep telling myself that…especially when I’m eating butter pecan ice cream…

doggio, that was a long shift; have a good day/nights’ rest.

Knots, sometimes you volunteer for the job, sometime the job volunteers you…working with a all-volunteer Youth Soccer group, I know the feeling.

VanGO, I was a 8hr/5day man all my career, but sometimes I wonder if the 9 hour day with 1 lesser day a week might have been better (IIRC, the US Government had an alternative, 8 9-hour days, 1 8-hour day and 1 day off every 2-week pay period).

red, hang in there and feel better soon.

Coppertone, I don’t know what Boric Acid suppositories do but they do sound sinister so I can see your issue with it. But the gyno knows stuff, so give it a try.

Shoe, that ‘cake’ looks neat. Hope you enjoyed it and your sushi. And who got the last piece?

And time to finish up my internettin’ and get ready for bed so that I can face the morning soccer duties. Will be back with all y’all sometime tomorrow.

So, here’s what happened…

We’re watching The Inspector Lynley Mysteries. I noticed the costuming of the lead actress. Mrs. L.A. noticed too, as she said, ‘You notice how that always show her in thin tops, pulled down low.’ I said, ‘They do it to show off her large breastesses.’ Bang. Now I have In Living Color on the brain, due to a character saying ‘breastesses’. I watched the original run, and it was hilarious. But it couldn’t be made today. There are homosexual stereotypes (‘Men On Film’), a transgender character (Vera de Milo), and of course the African-American stereotypes. Show it today? ‘Homey don’t play that.’ So I’ve ordered all five seasons on DVD.

‘They’, not ‘that’.

{ quietly crosses legs }

Toss a coupla treats?

Dunno, me and Grandma Co-worker were early out & I gave her a lift home.

But I posted all that to FB mostly so my mom could see (“healthy fudz!”) which one of my besties suggested years ago, to help dial down her “OMG WORRYING ABOUT SHOE!” vibes.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s 76 degrees Ferret Height(24.444 Centipedes). It’s my firday(and a 2 day weekend!)

Sounds like Spot. Except he’s more “Stop staring at the rectangle, and let me hunt you for sport!”

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 76 Amurrkin out and hazy with a predicted high of 90 with rain off and on startin’ around ten a.m. Sounds like a good day to be inside and dry. That is fine because I do foresee a day of high RDOS sloth ahead. Even sup will be slothful as the plan is to heat up leftover pepper steak and rice from Thursday. Well, there will be some activity, as tomorrow is first Sunday brunch and I will make a cabbage casserole and a chawklit cake with chawklit pee-kahn icin’, but those won’t take more than a couple of hours. Also my DAWGS play Tennessee State University at three p.m. There is an extreme heat advisory for Athens, Jawja this afternoon, so guess I am glad I get to watch in the a/c.

JtC can’t remember if I said it, but glad you are over whatever it was. Sorry you had to miss your PT. Medical offices and horsepistols are indeed excellent places to catch all kinds of germy things.

red hope your night was better and that you got some sleep. Sometimes a day of rest is just the thing.

shoe glad the a/c at irk got fixed. I have never had a boba tea. Is that sad? Happy belated bday to S.M.

BrightTree I believe the rule is when the fur baby wants attention, everything else must wait.

MetalMouse looks like a good call to cancel the later in the day soccer days.

doggio at least there is the promised two day weekend to look forward to.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Mornin’

Up, waiting for the laundry to wash and debating today’s plans. It’s nice and sunny out there (hence the laundry), so I feel I should go out and some summink so I don’t just fuse to the sofa, but my brain is still too full to come up with ideas.

I could just go for walkies, which gets me outside for a bit, but I think I’ve done something to one of my big toes and it’s being all painful at me if I walk too far at the moment.

Layer or sheet? I would think a sheet cake cut into squares would be easier to serve buffet-style, but for cake purists, it must be layer. Me, if it’s chawklit, it’s on my plate…

Today my baby girl turns 41. SIL is bringing the grands and Trevor over to give Daughter some alone time for her b-day. Luckily, I’ve got enough to feed the spawn and we didn’t have any plans anyway. Dunno how long they plan to stay, but it won’t be all day. I’ll be throwing them out at some point.

We’ll be looking at low 80s (after starting with 66 Ferrets) and 20% chance of precip. They’ve got TV and toys in the basement and I may get them to help me clear up some debris in the woods. Or nor. Depends on how I feel.

That’s pretty much gonna be my day. I think. What happens is what happens.

Happy Saturday!!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 17c/62f with a predicted high of 18c/65f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “It could be fucking warmer outside, but you could also be bathing with more sharks. Count your fucking blessings.”

Taters How lovely to get a thank-you video from Zoe, and good to know that your gifts were appreciated. Congrats on finding the tree ornaments too, what a lovely surprise your daughter will have!

52 There’s no sign of TM quitting yet, but it’s early days. We rolled out the changes to the team on Wednesday, and she was on leave Thursday and Friday. We have a workshop scheduled for this coming Wednesday so hopefully she can air her view (grievances) there. In a way, it would make life easier if she did leave, there are various reasons why we’re all a bit twitchy about her staying. I chatted to a colleague on Thursday as we were alone in the office and she has a lot of reservations about the changes, even though her role is the one that’s least impacted by it all. Time will tell!

Bright Tree congrats on finding a new handyperson, the good ones are hard to find and worth hanging on to.

Last night was fun, we went to see some bands at the Giffard - bar service was excellent as usual  The barstaff at both the upstairs and downstairs bars didn’t bother asking me what I wanted, just how many! Bands were very good too, the first one decided to introduce the band by saying “I’m bald, he’s fat and the drummer’s ginger”, clearly all you need to know! Much fun was had, there was singing and bouncing, and lots of happy people.

Afterwards, we sat outside to finish our drinks, then went up the road to the Posada for last orders and had a nice chat with the barmaid about how to survive night shifts as a nurse. Got home before 2am and went straight to bed.

Today I have a bucket collection at a local supermarket for Little Paws so I’d better get myself ready to head out of the door! I’m making spagbol for dinner tonight, and I think it’ll be sofa and movies for us.

Official Swiss site did a fact check a few years ago. And it’s not just guinea pigs. I remember when it was implemented - it’s one of many laws which have to do with preventing animal cruelty.

We certainly like Amsterdam and find Schipol to be one of the more reasonable airports. My parents don’t like it - too much walking for them.

Woke up to an autumnal morning with a bit of drizzle. Perfect weather for doing chores. The third load of laundry is in the dryer, and I already cleaned the bathrooms and hubby did the vacuuming. He’s still going to do some dusting and I’m working on the pile of stuff on the counter. Suitcases are back in the cellar, and I even went to the grocery store. Breakfast was homemade oatmeal with raisins and apple, followed by tacos for lunch. There’s also watering and mowing to be done, but don’t want to rush too much.

Happy Saturday!

Morning all. Up early as my refereeing is at 8:30 and the boys play at 10:00, so I should be done by 11am, before the temperatures get above 90F (it’s 75F at 7:15am). I have broken fast and have all the stuff I need ready, just need to gather it up and put it on in more or less the correct order. Afternoon may be slothful, I have the makings of a cold so going to the gym is probably not a good idea.

shoe, sure looks healthy and I’m sure you had a healthy slab of it..

swampy, chocolate cake and pecan icing sounds soooo good… The kids I feel for are the football ones, they will have 8-10 year olds out there in full pads playing in this heat, I’d bet. Stupid.

Nut, take care of the toes.

FCM, happy birthday to Daughter.

boo fae, I’m pretty much bald and while no longer fat it hasn’t been that long ago–unfortunately I’m not ginger, but I think I would like that band. Have a good collection day.

Dicey, thanks for the info, nice to confirm things.

And guess I should start the dressing and preparations to head out to the fields. Take care all and have a good Sattiday.

Live from Elkhart, it’s Saturday morning! There are 72 ferrets on my lawn, holding folded umbrellas and nervously eying the clouds. It’s National Hummingbird Day. They all read somewhere they’re the only birds that can fly backwards, and they’re sticking to that story.

As a happy United Auto Workers retiree, I wish you a happy Labor Day weekend. I just looked down, and I see I need to switch to my UAW belt buckle.

Be kind to others, and more importantly to yourself.

Another foggy and cloudy morning in MSP, but we’re still going to be in the mid-80s.

Definitely going to make the green chili stew today, which will feed us for several days.

Nothing else happening this weekend for us.

I know that sounds scary but that will adjust the pH (the acid/base balance) in those tissues so the yeastie beasties can’t take over and make you so uncomfortable.

They should think of a different name and change that ‘acid’ part to ‘a new day’ suppositories.

Hope it’s working and you’re brave for following through.

Good morning, everyone.

I woke up to 48F, but it’s now 50F, and mostly cloudy. Sunrise is about 15 minutes away. Today’s forecast calls for skies alternating between partly cloudy and mostly cloudy, with a high of 71F. By Wednesday and Thursday, we rise back into the low 80s, then dip again.

FCM, happy birthday to your daughter. I hope she enjoys her kid-free hours.

Shoe, that pizza looks like something that is right up my alley!

Metal Mouse, I worked the 9/4/5 schedule for the last 20 years of my career and much preferred it over the straight 8s. When it was first offered to me, the days seemed long for about the first month or so, but I settled into it quite nicely. I seriously considered the 10/4 schedule a couple of times, but stayed with 9/4/5. I did love having a three-day weekend every other weekend, and it turned out to work well for me because holiday Mondays often resulted in four-day weekends without my having to take leave.

Our weekend is open, but I’m not sure I want to be out and about since it’s a holiday weekend. Also, the Western Washington State Fair (Do the Puyallup!) opened on Friday and is just “down the hill” from us, so there is even more traffic.

I haven’t been to the fair since the kids were little, and frankly, I have no desire to go. I saw some of their food offerings and was completely grossed out. I’m not into “extreme” fair foods at all. Icky food. I used to love the onion burgers, a fair staple, as well as the piroshkies. The fair was famous for its scones, but to me, they were only good when freshly prepared and eaten right away.

Mainly, it’s just too peoply for me. I guess that makes me an old grump.

It’s time to finish my coffee and get the day started. Please take care of yourselves.

LH75’s chocolate cake recipe:

2 ½ cups flour
2 cups sugar
½ cup hershey’s cocoa
2 rounded teaspoons baking soda
1 cup soured milk (add a teaspoon of white vinegar to whole milk and stir. Trust me)
1 cup vegetable oil
½ teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
1 cup hot water (add this last)

Combine all dry ingredients, then add the liquid ingredients. Pour into a 9x13 floured baking dish and bake in a pre heated 350 degree oven until a toothpick comes out dry, approximately 45 minutes.

I am doing 2 things today. Diddly and squat. I will go to the farm stand for corn and tomatoes but other than that I plan to park it in my house. The last 4 days have had heat indices over 100 and I’ve been at the barn those 4 days. I need to recuperate. Dinner will be corn, tomatoes, and flank steak. Lunch will be leftover pizza.

@peedin Do you squat to diddle?

Morning, all. Hope it’s a good one!
