YAY! Congratulations Squeaky ![]()
Of course, she’s doing her guard dog duties.
YAY! Congratulations Squeaky ![]()
Of course, she’s doing her guard dog duties.
If he can keep his grades up for the rest of the year, his tuition should be covered.
Yay!
Go Squeaky!!! Keep it up!!!
Dad, the Korea vet taught me BOHICA, its been around for a while ![]()
Thanks, I did and then started another section. This will be another closet piece, I have a big stack of finished work that will probably never be shown.
I gave one of Hub’s cousins a bunch of small geometric pieces…well, I offered her one and she begged for all of them which was extremely gratifying. She had them all professionally framed and they are hanging on her bedroom wall now. I am SO flattered!
I used to lose a lot of stuff in my floozy days, clothing fell off without warning on a daily basis. My high school ring didn’t really get lost…kinda. It flattened around my finger and I had to have it cut off. Then it went into a pocket and those jeans got left behind one happy afternoon.
I went to three dispensaries and left No King’s signs with permission. I also bought Hub Cousin three jars of microdoses because she can’t get weed in Georgia.
Next we went to Tucker county and stood around watching the data center being built. I’d like to think that we looked intimidating but it was wet and rainy and we were a bunch of old farts with umbrellas. The middle aged guys looked much scarier and they are the ones who will be spending a lot of quality time with their personal American Chestnut tree.
While we were there, one of the Rangers pointed out a porcupine they were going to move closer to the other porcupines. Porcupines were also wiped out when the forest was clear cut, but has started moving back in. Nobody wants to kill them, they just do not want them making nests in the chestnut trees.
It is almost peak leaf season up by Berkley. The reds and yellows are bright and loud and the forest floor is covered with little white and blue flowers.
Howdy Y’all! Mowage was achieved along with nappage, day drinkin’ and sup. I figure that’s a lot for one day. We do have fancy eatin’ plates. OK, I have fancy eatin’ plates. They are not China, but are made by Johnson. They’re called Great Castles of Britain. I also have for real silver ware that I bought at an estate sale. It’s twelve place settin’s and has such things as fish forks and dessert spoons plus some servin’ pieces. I have no idea why I even bought it. We do like to use silver spoons to eat ice cream cause the spoon gets really cold. I have some nice flatware and some nice Corelle plates, sallit plates, cups, saucers, and glasses. We use the flatware and the Corelle cause we are all civilized and couth like that.
Knotty ice cream is good rain or shine!
red you mentioned Josten’s. I got a high skool class ring only because my mother insisted on it. Hey, she paid! She wanted me to get a kolledge one, but as I was an adult by then, she couldn’t really insist on it. Besides I think all class rings are just butt ugly! I don’t know where the high skool one is now.
Taters we don’t have a German restaurant in the area. There was a good one in Columbus, Jawja, but it closed several years ago. I like German foodstuffs. Cool about all the yahd birds!
Mollie yay for early votin’! We will do that next week when there will be a pop up vote event at our local precinct. It will be on Wednesday and Thursday from two p.m. - seven p.m. We’ll most likely go Wednesday when it opens so’s we can be in and out in no time. I do like to early vote. HUZZAH for Squeaky’s ACT score!
MOOOOOOM I bet Doug’s University of Engineering and Bowling has some ragin’ keggers! Wonder why Larry was embarrassed to have gone to WVU? I’m sure it’s a good skool.
red I get to envy you and Hartz today.
Nuts high skool homecomin’ is an excuse for current stoodints to crown a Queen and KIng and have a dance after the football game. Kolledge reunions can be fun for the old alumni geezers to return to campus, not that I have ever done that.
MetalMouse you have achieved some high RDOS sloth today. I am so proud!
BrightTree my fridge likes to nag as well. OYKW says I really shouldn’t tell it to shut up as I may hurt its feelin’s and it’ll quit workin’. OOH! Breakin’ plates after dinner sounds like fun! I’d be there for sure! Do please remember to dispose of the rotten garlic before doggio comes to visit and seeks out a midnight snack. He’s mostly house trained, but you never know what he might put in his mouth,
WetOne a compliment indeed! You talk good English!
Coppertone takin’ it slow is never a bad thing. Just be careful. We want you to be happy, but above all we want you to be safe. Plus you are one of the cool kids now, and we want posts.
doggio especially this deviled aig plate.. The gold rim makes it the one you use for company.
Cat_Glove glad to be of service. I like stuffed bell peppers, but OYKW thinks they are from Satan’s kitchen, so I hardly ever get to eat 'em. Great story about your class ring!
VanGo of course Ms Peach must woof at the strange car! She’s protectin’ you from an axe murderer or worse!
JtC since your handiwork has been framed and displayed, I say you are now an artist!
Finally a cool kid!
Yes, disregarding the mental issues, am I trying to jump the gun?
I mean, he certainly seems interested; inviting me over, spending the night. We’ve spent time alone together 3 times. I am used to faster movers but those can be players.
Would it kill him to hug me?
I am old-fashioned, woman should never make the first move. I dont want rejection.
I am really thrilled over this. I’ve made FOUR bespoke* pieces and have never seen them displayed. Gina didn’t pick colors or patterns or anything, she just took what I had made and hung them up where she would see them first thing in the morning.
*Oh, please Jane, please make me this picture in these colors and those ribbons, I will love it forever!
You all inspired me to dig out my class ring. I don’t see any like it online at this point. It’s gold with a red faceted stone (sic), which is a thin oval with a flat top. The name of my school is around the bevel. The ring itself joins the bevel with a bit of openwork on each side and shows my degree on one side and the year on the other. No black highlighting. It looks feminine without being super-girlie and is clearly related to the chunky men’s rings.
Up from naptime, having a Monte Cassino, baked fried chicken, cheesy N.O.T. rounds, and green beans for dinner. Spot is sacked out somewhere.
Being trained. Oddly enough. I’m the least senior clerk there, I just have slightly more curiosity that most.
“There are 8 billion primates on this rocky sphere. At least one of you is mildly competent to serve a Small Egyptian God.” - Spot
WOOOOOOOO!
Congrats on Squeaky getting his ACT together.
“It is The Invisible Mole People!” - Ms. Peach
I mean, he’s going through some crap. But you deserve happiness, too. {{{{Coppertone}}}}
Evening all. Exercised, refereed and coached, getting home about 8pm and after a couple grilled ham-n-cheesers with pudding and applesauce cups for chasers, feeling slight more like corresponding with my fellow Mumpers. Still have to make out the Firday grocery list and do a couple more errands before bedtime, but at least they can be done while sitting in my house.
And now to scroll along the thread…
Bright Tree, first heard BOHICA from a colleague at work and was also much taken by it. And I do not keep garlic in the house, mostly because I wouldn’t know what to do with it if I did have it. Hope you can finally rid yourself of the stink.
Target practice with BB guns is also an option…
Nut, thanks for the info, I’ve heard of rhyming slang before (Trouble and Strife; [Wife] but never that expression. Had to look up septic tank, not bad… Yank .
Wet one, a nice comment that is unsolicited and said with complete honesty is one of the best things a person can received (well, a million dollars is nice too, but let’s be realistic…).
Coppertone, interesting developments. See how it goes but be careful. Sounds like he might have a case of terminal shyness (I did/do) when it comes to intamacy, you may have to make the first move anyways…
Cat Glove, the ring story is rather fascinating, now if the man bringing it back was named Baggins…
Mollie, Outstanding! for Squeaky.
VanGo, hope the pain stays in remission. And Ms. Peach is just doing her doggie duty.
JtC, you do good work it seems, at least as far a cousin is concerned.
Swampy, thanks for the kudos, coming from you is a high honor.
And need to see if Milwaukee will sweep the Dodgers or not, so take care all.
Yay, Squeaky!
Our was The Ubiquity. We had an underground newspaper called The Ubigot.
No, it was in the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Mrs. L.A. texted me, suggesting we go to The Shores tonight. I replied, ‘Sounds good. Should be hoppin’!’ I got home, and we went down the beach. Parking spaces were pretty much full. She asked why I said it would be hopping. I told her there’s a Seahawks game. She didn’t want to be in a crowded dive bar/diner with a bunch of boisterous drunks, so we went to Bay Breeze.
ETA: I found out that I don’t get the day after Thanksgiving off. I have never worked at a job where you didn’t get the day after Thanksgiving off. That’s like a third of my life. I wonder if I should even bother cooking?
Because you both reminded me I just found my local protest this Saturday, at our state Capitol, which is just down the street from me~ 28th st to 16th street so just about a mile straight line of sight.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 65 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 85 and partly cloudy, but becomin’ cloudy later in the day. Cooler weather is comin’ with highs in the low 70s and lows in the high 40s to mid 50s. It could be False Fall, so not gettin’ excitated about it. I shall take care of candle and other duties over to the church house this mornin’ and deal with some errands whilst out. The rest of the day will be spent in high RDOS sloth, Sup will be nuked up last night’s leftovers. If the notion strikes, I may do some clean out/rearrangin’ of my side of the closet. Or not. I am RDOS and willy-nilly,
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I shall purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed.
Happy Firday Y’all!
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 11c/52f with a predicted high of 13c//55f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “What the fuck am I supposed to say about today? It’s fucking decent outside!”
Taters finding a new restaurant to try out sounds good to me!
Nut I agree, most of the US school stuff is a mystery to me but we certainly handed out a lot of Desmonds this year
And a 2:1 is known as an Attila (the Hun) where I am.
Mollie I have no idea what Squeaky achieved, but congratulations to him!
Yesterday turned out to be fun - irk was irksome, meeting with Troublesome Minion was as expected, then I logged into the College Forum meeting and listened to much corporate back-slapping and pontificating. I was just typing my MMP post when New Manager asked for some help with a document she’d been asked to complete (on a process she doesn’t know anything about). I know far too much about said process, and the document owner was jumping up and down because she needed info immediately (of course she didn’t, but we didn’t say so), I gave her the benefit of my wisdom and document got sent off. Then I had my regular meeting with her, told her all about TM’s comments and we had a discussion about that and some other issues I’d had from people that needed to be raised with her. Apparently, someone in another team has been asking for a work buddy for one of their senior admins, hopefully someone who’s had experience with line-managing folks with additional needs. For some reason, they all thought of me!
I got home and tended to the needs of cats, 'im indoors made dinner and we Uber’d ourselves to KK’s. Got there just as the support band was starting so that was excellent timing. Never seen them before, they’re from Knoxville, Tennessee and haven’t spent much time in the UK so it was good to see someone completely new.
Kris Barras is someone I’ve seen several times, I think the first time was back in 2017 in Sheffield. We’ve tried to catch him every time he’s toured but hadn’t really planned on this one because we don’t normally go to Thursday gigs. Then he announced it would be his last tour as he was stepping away from music to focus on other things, so we decided we should definitely be going to this one. It was an inspired decision as we had a really good time. Bought a copy of his new CD, and the guy threw in a £20 t-shirt for £5 which is even more of a bonus!
I’m working at home today so at least I got a bit of a lie-in this morning. As I’m at home, I took the opportunity to put some fresh colour on my hair as that has to sit for 45 minutes before it gets washed off again. Now I’m properly sheveled and am back to fixing things other people have broken.
Morning all. Kidneys took the night off so I slept to 6:30am, will head to the Kroger in a bit, trying to squeeze between school and business traffic (after school starts and before the 9am rush). Probably should do at least a couple loads of laundry, we’ll see how it goes. Have soccer at 5pm and may have to referee another game afterwards. The Weather Wizards are calling for a 1-in-3 chance of rain this afternoon, just to spoil my makeup game…
Flyboy, given the Seahawks lost to Denver, it would have been a bunch ob boisterous, grumpy drunks, so think the Mrs. made a good call.
swampy, same here for the cooler weather, only due to get to 77F today and will dip below 50F tonight. But the Weather Wizards say it’ll be back in the 80’s for a high next week, so not quite done yet.
boo fae, sounds like they want you to trade one set of problem children for another (or take on both). Oh lovely. And glad you got to see the bands you wanted, Knoxville is about 3.5 hours drive from me, a nice town if you ever visit out this way. Hope the fixing goes well and the hair color looks good, I’m sure.
And time to dress for shopping and head on out–my Pecan sticky bun awaits! Have a good Firday all.
In my last post-retirement job, one of the n00b engineers they hired graduated from WVU and he certainly didn’t try to hide his alma mater. So I dunno - Larry was an interesting case. He’d start the work day at his desk and on the clock reading his bible. Then he’d proceed to be most un-Christian - making fun of people, lying to people, taking credit for others’ work (he did that to me once.) Can’t say I cried when he left for a bigger paycheck in the non-gummint working world.
That sounds like my daughter’s ring. We, however, didn’t have a choice beyond “take it or leave it.” The only difference is that the girls’ rings were scaled smaller, so not quite as heavy as the boys’ rings.
Or fancy skeet - “PULL”
Dunno yet if Daughter and her crew will come over, but I still intend to smoke one bird and roast another. I vacu-seal meal portions for the freezer. Either way, I won’t go crazy making half a dozen sides. Not for 6 people.
Since I’ll have the grandspawn, I can’t attend any of the local protests, dammit. I’d forgotten about it when I agreed to have them over. Oh well.
Today starts with 59 Ferrets and it’s wet out, but I think the rain has stopped. We may get into the 80s today, and a cold front is supposed to bring winds (lots higher north of us) so tomorrow’s high may only reach 57, with 30s overnight. Needless to say, windows will be closed for that event.
I had a terrible time falling asleep last night and eventually got just shy of 4 hours of sleep. I’ve been mostly up since before 4AM, dammit. I may actually try to nap before the spawn arrive. It’s laundry day, of course, and I will finish in the studio. Yesterday I washed a bunch of stuff and left it in the drainer to dry. All of that needs to be sorted and put away. Plus all of my tools are spread out, waiting for the tool box to dry. With luck, the whole thing will take maybe 30 minutes.
I’m caffeinating with Bigelow Cinnamon Stick tea - my favorite. I’m thinking of taking some with me on our cruise - easy to pack, even if I take a full box.
Speaking of cruises, I saw where Princess, for the 2028-29 season, is planning a cruise thru the Canal, around the Antarctic Peninsula, and down the Amazon - a 64-day round trip. No price posted yet, and I doubt we’d be able to afford it, but I can’t wait till they post the details. Tho by that time, we’ll have visited 2 of the 3 places I mentioned. I like to dream, tho.
Guess that’s all for now (and the crowd goes wild!!!)
Happy Firday!!
That’s why I sent her the text.
Admittedly, the place makes a good Cobb salad; but neither one of us really like it. I knew she’d change her mind once she saw all of the cars and found out about the game.
I cook for two.
It’s a Friday in mid-October. I think we might go vote today. We have a list of early voting sites.
Doggio, I feel for you. My wobbly old fingers work much better on a keyboard than stabbing at a phone with a stylus or finger. I’m also old enough to get the reference to the parrot pinin’ for the fjords Monty Python sketch.
Tomorrow is another No Kings rally day. The last one had so many dots on the map that it was hard to see state lines. There were even NK demonstrations outside the US. The very best way to make a No Kings protest is to vote early.
Some years ago, you could get a t-shirt picturing a “fupped duck.”
As it turned out, we took raincoats with us yesterday to the allergy doc and the ice cream parlor, and it didn’t rain until we were nearly home. The groundskeepers had been zooming around all morning, trying to get their mowage/leaf removal done before the rain, and they made it on time.
OK then, it’s time for breakfast. I’ll type to you tomorrow.
