(Old) GoGo on Vacation - A Holiday MMP

Morning, mumpers! Its currently 18c/64f with a predicted high of 21c/69f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Does that one fucking cloud look like a weasel screwing a fucking carrot?”

Sticky_Buns I’m so happy to hear that you and Lithium can still be friends!

Nut that extra hour in bed must have done the trick. We had a lovely little downpour last night as I was driving home from the gym. It lasted about 10 minutes but at least it cooled the air a bit.

Taters I wasn’t intentionally leaving you all in suspenders  We haven’t quite worked out what we want to do but essentially we have three depts that we’re looking to combine into one big dept. That means our minions will no longer do admin for their separate depts, they’ll have a year cohort of students instead. That means Troublesome Minion (who currently has 88 students across all 4 years) will be looking after admin for close to 300 students in their second year. She will be thrown into a tailspin because she has no knowledge of the programme requirements and structures of the other two depts (and they will provide the majority of her “new” students) so you can imagine how she’s going to take the news.

Cookie good to hear that Sadie is behaving with the eye drops and likes to have a play afterwards. Perhaps her eyes were bothering her a bit and she’s getting some relief from the drops, so she is grateful for the manhandling!

Mollie I am sure I have some Irish ancestry since my two favourite foods are potatoes and bread

Cupcakes I’m really happy to hear that Mauser had such good news. Hopefully it’s a pinched nerve as the vet thinks, and he will continue to improve.

flyboy congrats on not being the newbie any longer!

52 I hope the eye problem resolves itself soonest.

Yesterday was a relatively quiet day which was nice. I logged off on time and went downstairs to make campus food, then had some sofa time with Blossom before getting changed, feeding the mogs and heading to the gym. Came home to find 'im indoors making Thai curry for dinner. I got to bed early but could not sleep so I was up long before the alarm today, and am already feeling tired. No meetings in the calendar either, which is a bonus.

I am not going to the pub tonight, my friends have cancelled as one of them isn’t well (and he’s the driver) so I’ll see them again in a couple of weeks as I’m not around next week. I plan to make spagbol for dinner tonight and we’ll probably watch some tellybox stuff before I attempt an early night to make up for last night’s lack of sleep!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and clear, but becomin’ cloudy later with a predicted high of 90. This is cooler than usual August weather for us. The big item on today’s agenda is to procure provisions. I need to call the pharmacy and get a 'script refilled as well. Other than that it will be RDOS sloth as is our wont. Even sup will be slothful as it will be leftovers.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

In our house, we always have a need. Apart from my morning Diet Coke, I’ll drink ice water thru the day. FCD will fill his cup to the brim before adding soda, and there have been times when done drinking that he’ll dump the ice in the sink. Sometimes the man makes me crazy!

I dunno, apart from the meetings, it sounds like you have a really cool job! Such interesting variety and outlets for creativity!

Our convenience centers have biiiiiiig boxes for any and all electronics. Last week, they got an old TV and a dead cell phone from me.

My favorite thrift store has a metric butt-ton of assorted cables. Our accumulation is in a box in FCD’s shop, but one day, they’ll go to the convenience center receptacle.

Funny how a regular paycheck can motivate one to be nice…

Ah, memories! I came across my ancient Nokia when sorting stuff and I gave it to the grands. It’s probably lost in their toybox if not tossed by now. And yeah, I didn’t text much back then. But at least it was an option.

My bloodline, as far as we have traced, is all Polish, but I too lurves me some spuds and bread. Especially warm-from-the-oven bread slathered in butter…

Half a melatonin did its job and I slept really well and woke sans hangover. We’ve got 71 Ferrets and overcast with rain promised (threatened) on and off thru the day. We must have had one hellacious downpour overnight - the back door was wet almost 5’ up, and it’s under the eaves! I heard a gentle shower around 2 when answering the call of nature, but was oblivious the rest of the night.

I’ll be making a run to Food Lion and Aldi today, but for the life of me, I can’t recall what I was planning to buy. I’m sure I’ll figure it out. I may or may not yank some more weeds - we’ll see if it’s raining when I’m done surfage. But if I can’t get outside, I’ll try to finish the garage. Things will happen as they happen.

Happy Wednesday!!

Good morning. I have a fasting blood test this morning. I woke up looking forward to my big mug of black tea with lots of milk in it, but then I remembered that it’s a no-no, at least until after 7:15. So I’m sitting here uncaffeinated and crabby. And I’ll be fixing breakfast for Mr. brown on an empty stomach in a little while. Humph.

Yesterday we bought a couple of orchid plants at our nearby orchid wholesaler. We’re lucky to have that place, as they have a big sales room full of a wide variety of showy orchids, at bargain prices. I got a big purple two-stem orchid for one room, and a much smaller butter-yellow orchid for my bedroom. They both look gorgeous, and the flowers should last two or three months.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Did the usual "Cuddle, lick earwax, ‘Oh does it hurt when I put my full 16tonspounds on this single body part?’ " thing with Spot. I’m running to the dump, but other than that no plans.
I keep all my old cables, because maybe some day there will be a need to daisy chain a HDMI to USB to F pin to serial cable to save the Earth, and I’ll be prepared.

That’s how they get you.

Harrumph!

I’d make him make his own breakfast, but under the conditions you’re dealing with, I would not be the world’s nicest wife.

Afternoon.

More rain happened. In the middle of the thunderstorm yesterday, with sheets of rain falling and flashes of lightning, I heard the distinctive sound of an ice cream van… Now that’s not suspicious at all…

I am going to be a bad slacker stoodint and take the rest of the afternoon off, as my brain is full and I’m currently making no progress, so maybe a break would help. I’m off to the gardens I have free entry to today, to get some tea and cake and wander round a bit looking at pretty plants while hopefully my subconscious gets on with it. the weather looks a a bit showery, but that’s OK. Probably means it’ll be quieter.

My ancestry is mostly from the North West of England, best we can trace, hence the lack of concern about getting rained on…

Red, I’m glad to hear of free electronics recycling at Staples. I confess we have chucked some devices in the regular trash rather than paying the fee some recycle places charge.

The radio news is full of news of election results, as they trickle in. Some folks, including our wise and powerful TACO, believe vote counting happens instantaneously, but it often takes several days.

Good morning.

It’s 56F and “fair” outside. It’s supposed to be sunny today, with a high of 91F. Unfortunately, it’s also very hazy from the wildfire smoke and the AQI is 160 which is very unhealthy.

Cupcakes, I’m so happy for you and Mauser. I hope his pain goes away stat.

Our dump charges excessive fees to get rid of electronics, but there is a recycling place that will take them, monitors and TVs with no fee. I know the Best Buy near me took electronics for awhile, but I’m not sure if they still do that.

Johnny, congrats on being permanent! Such good news!

Metal Mouse, you know that muscle weighs more than fat, right? With all the working out you’ve been doing, maybe there is some muscle weight you need to factor into the equation.

Boo Fae, maybe this will be the tipping point for TM and she’ll retire?

Yesterday, I transplanted the plants I purchased the previous day. I also watered everything front and back, including the lawn. Something burned the heck out of one my pots on the front porch and the only thing I can think of is that the neighbor had his car parked in such a way as to reflect onto the plant, because it sits under the front porch roof. It looked sad and wilted, but after giving it several long drinks of water, it perked up.

After that, I ran the rollsuck, tidied the kitchen, and showered. I hung out indoors most of the day, and the kids showed up around 4:30. They had spent the day with my mother. My daughter was very shocked at how far my mother had deteriorated. But they took her to lunch and tried to take her to the waterfront.

They didn’t spend the night because they’d left their luggage at their friend’s house, but they will be staying here tonight. They’re going to show up around 9:00 a.m. today, and we’re all going to Northwest Trek Northwest Trek because it’s nearby and they’re all a little sick of car time. After that, we’ll stop by the store and pick up ingredients for grilling and tater salad. Those plans may change based on the air quality, but we’ll see.

Welp, I need another cup of coffee, and then I need to get on with the day.

Please take care of yourselves.

Good morning, all! It was 71ºF with a dew point of 70º. Chloé opted out of the super-long route this morning. I was tired, so I agreed. Bun count was only two, but it’s getting late in the season, and owls gotta eat. We heard, but didn’t see, a fox. Either that, or someone was getting brutally murdered in the woods. They both sound alike.

Band Camp was until 9:00 last night. I got out of yoga at 8:15 and delivered a watermelon mojito smoothie to a very grateful Mrs Magill. I do double yoga on Tuesdays. I do a power flow at six, followed by a stretchy Yin at 7:15. Between the classes, I’ll hang my mat on the bar, and push my gear against the wall, so they can clean the floor while I go into the lobby to refill my water and cool off. I walked back into the studio, and a couple had set up right in the middle of all my gear. I roll my eyes, mutter something unsavory under my breath, and proceed to move my gear to a new spot. They act surprised, like maybe all that stuff (and literal pools of sweat) actually belonged to someone. I finish moving my gear and setting up and the guy apologizes for taking my spot. I’m like, “Hey man, if you want to practice in a pool of my sweat, I’m not gonna yuck your yum.”

I have to do raised beds. The bedrock is only a couple inches below the surface here.

The Williamson County convenience centers take them. I think they harvest the gold out of the chips.

I have the same two loves, but I come from a long line of Irish Oppressors… does any of that still count if you’ve been on this side of the pond for four hundred years?

doggio We have a similar sign for Chloé.

I’ve seen this movie…

Morning all. Only slept until 7:30am today, so a bright and early start… Again, nothing much on the agenda, I may take a lesson from FCM and Sticky Buns and do some weeding, or maybe head out and look for a new office chair as this one is getting a bat raggedly, but neither has too be done so we’ll see how much ambition I have. 40% chance of rain this afternoon according to the Weather Wizards, but not expecting any ice cream trucks, Nut.

Are you sure you’re not married to my clone? I’m the same way, I’ll sip at the melting water for a bit but often end up tossing the ice.

lucky, hope the vampires are easy on the veins.

Taters, thanks for the thought, it’s nice to dream that way, but most of the working has been treadmill and cycling, so all the muscles are in my legs. One other reason I want to cut back on those things (and the calories they burn) is to get back to weight training again for the upper body. Enjoy trekking with the kids–but be careful of the Klingons…

Mollie, I’d be irked too, sometimes when I get off the treadmill I go to get towels and disinfectant for the areas I’ve sweated on (gym rules) and get back to find someone on it…hey, if you’re that desperate, have all my sweat you want…

And need to finish the morning internetting and consider if I want to do much of anything or not. Take care all.

yest. was readcation! a lovely day. i got up, dressed, took care of lager and the fish, put a load of laundry in, went out for breakfast, and started the book, “probable caws”. the restaurant was mostly empty, not many eating breakie at half 10, nice leisurely and quiet. stopped at the pharmacy, picked up lager’s and my meds, and back to reading and laundry. finished laundry at 4pm, book at 5ish.

back in the office today. i will bring in the fish tank tomorrow. today, i’m looking for a good spot for it. thinking my desk or the counter. decisions, decisions…

baker, i hope things go well with the little guys back. now i’m wondering if there are doggy chiropractors

taters, i am so impressed by your garden. i’ve been looking at gardens as we are looking at having a new landscape plan for the condo. we want perennials, and to get away from privet like shrubbery.

the building i work in, and the building i live in both have electronic recycle week. very appreciated. in the condo we end up with hundreds of pounds of recycling. the office building in thousands of pounds.

I decided to try this. We shall see…

Oh, yeah, back from getting foods. There was a woman returning her cart at Aldi who was trying to connect the chains??? She said she didn’t know how to do it, so I showed her. Then she started walking off without her quarter. Guess it was her first time. But what amazed me was that a quick look at the other carts would show how they’re connected. I dunno… some people…

I’ve decided I’ll try to finish the garage today. It’ll be hot and icky, but it’s already too hot to weed. But first I’ll have lunch. I don’t want to start then stop to eat - because there’s a chance I won’t go back to work. I know me.

Off to make a sammich.

Happy Wednesday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, infused and fixing to do KP. I do need to take out trash today, then go get some groceries. After, RDOS.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Morning all. I eagerly look forward to more reports on giant noses, Sadie’s eye, Spot’s earwax addiction, troublesome minion, Monkey’s escape antics, dogs both large and small, the grands, the heavy burden of having earned a nameplate, medications, mowage, and the like.

Of mowage: I can’t for the next few days due to poor AQI. A mixed blessing. Shishi is my only cat to play fetch, and it’s only with The Duck. Must wander off to count how many cats I’ve lived with and calculate the % of fetchers to non-fetchers.

The wife slept in this morning, so I had breakfast alone; savory oatmeal, bacon and fruit yogurt. It was a very cool 59F when I got up.

Eldest will be coming over on Saturday with his boy. The kid is auditioning for an orchestra spot somewhere and they’ll be nearby. We’ll probably hit 5G for an early dinner.

We’ve been able to keep up with Sadie’s eyedrops. She hates it, but while she struggles a bit, at least she’s not a biter. I’ve cut back on her food on advice of the vet. She’s put on three pounds since January and the culprit is dry food. Diet time!

Exercise was a struggle today. Not uncommon, just hard to get jazzed about it some days.

I’ll probably make a frittata for dinner today; got some Italian sausage I need to use.

TIL that antifreeze and engine oil will expire. I’m cleaning off some shelves and I came across crap that the previous owners left behind. We’ve lived here 22 years, so everything is well beyond its life. I see a trip to the convenience center soon. I know they take old oil, and I think they take anti-freeze.

OK, break over. Back to work!

Blood drawing went well and quickly. Unbeknownst to me, my doc also ordered a urinalysis. I had just peed before the five minute trip to the lab, so my needle was on empty. Regardless, I managed to squeeze out a teaspoon or two after a lot of effort. The lab tech said that would be enough. Then home to my delicious mug of tea and my breakfast.

Lunch today will be skewered grilled shrimp brushed with teriyaki sauce and lemon juice, accompanied by Japanese-style pickled cucumber chunks in sesame oil. Lots of white rice on the side.

Tis AI nonsense I’m afraid. Banananas chopped in half and stuck in water aren’t going to grow anything but mouldy. Why people put so much effort into wasting other people’s time (and bananananas) I have no idea…

Visited garden, ate exceptionally good cake, drank tea, (I don’t normally drink much tea but I always get it there because they give you a teapot with an adorable hand-knitted tea cozy and they’re just too adorable) and got rained on. Hopefully that helped brain function enough to make up for the time off.

Blood drawing? That sounds metal as hell!

Oh, wait. Lucky is at the phlebotomists’.
