Happy mother’s day to all of the Mumper moms!
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Today will be the typical Sunday, so nothing exciting at CasaRoja.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Last day of vacation. i shall clean and nap, since it is raining. Also, Spot was making hyena noises this morning.
I celebrate, since lots of people call me “mother”.
Congrats!
How long have you been here?
Also, critters.
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s a toasty18c/65f with no predicted change today, and cloudy. Which means it’s mostly sunny. Weather app can’t make its mind up about today and says “If this weather was a soup, it would be Broccoli Fart Chowder with Corn and Bacon.” Is that good or bad? I can’t decide
We are back home after an epic night of musical shenanigans. The singer reminded us that that last time he played at that venue was 1991, certainly a memorable night for a lot of us. I was there that night, and it was one of the best gigs I’ve ever been to. We had a fantastic night, met up with friends, saw a singer friend I’ve not seen for a few years and had the biggest hug from her. All in all, a perfectly splendid night…and we get to do it all over again on Friday at my favourite local venue.
Stopped on the way in to buy a tour t-shirt, as you do, and had a chat to the merch guy. He’s the guy who does all the printing and also does some custom designs. When they toured for the 30th anniversary of their debut album, he did the t-shirts for it and very kindly made me a one-off racerback top because I don’t really like t-shirts that much. He remembered it, and said he would be happy to make another one for me if I emailed him with the details of what I want. What a gent!
Happy mother’s day to all of you who are celebrating (or being celebrated)!
Thanks for the update on @nelliebly too, I was worried about her but of course her health has to come first. I hope she’s soon feeling able to come back and join us again. In the meantime, I’ll just sit under her window and think good thoughts.
The cats have registered their displeasure at being left alone overnight (despite having a friend coming to feed them yesterday evening). Shadow wailed at me because obviously he was starving, so he has been placated with salmon. Luna wasn’t sure what was going on, she wanted fuss then she hissed at me, then she ran away from her food bowl. Now she’s sitting on the windowsill to my left, looking out at the world. Daft little mog, she is.
'im indoors has gone for a snooze, I shall make more tea and run myself a nice soaky bath as that seems like a good way to waste an hour or so on a Sunday afternoon.
Holy committee, Batman!
Happy Mother’s Day to all you mothers!
Bathroom scale says 233 this morning, down from 242 last Sunday. I’m confused, especially since it’s remaining fairly constant when Lady SCAdian uses it… On the other hand, the scale at the doctors’ office Friday did say 238 (fully dressed; when I weigh myself at home I’m just wearing skivvies).
That’s Spot:
“PET ME! PET ME! PET ME!”
< recoils in horror >
“NO TOUCH!”
Part of it could be having a BM or not having a BM before weighing self.
boofae You and my Hubs are similar peeps in enjoying music and attending concerts. He used to go with his buds as I’m not as much of a concert goer. I think the last concert I attended was quite a few years ago to see his favorite guitar player, Eric Clapton, at The Palace of Auburn Hills. Well, now that I think about it, I saw one of my favs, James Taylor, in 2014 with Hubs at Pine Knob and again in 2016 at a benefit at The Fox Theatre and a few years ago, possibly 2021, Hubs got tickets to see one of my other favs, Stephen Stills at Meadowbrook. I loved him in Buffalo Springfield and the harmonies in CSN were amazing. (Don’t care for NY’s vocals hence didn’t mention CSNY).
Well, I have fully lost the handle on this MMP; please forgive me for not having fully read the last hundred or so posts.
It’s because I got my first work assignment Thursday morning, and I’ve been spending the last couple days preparing, packing, unpacking, re-packing, and overthinking.
Today I’m jetting off to exotic Spokane, WA, where I’ll spend the next two weeks helping to organize and label a pharmaceutical warehouse.
Spoke on the phone with the team lead for a while yesterday; he seems like a really good guy.
And I’m m sure I’ll get better at the packing thing once I’ve done this a few times.
Home! We got the last of the big stuff moved to the new apartment, and the beds were delivered and set up. We got the TVs set up and I helped BIL log into WiFi. I brought home a couple of bags of stuff that MIL will be storing here. We left them to unpack at their leisure. Tomorrow, I have to go over there in the morning - BIL has to drop off his car at the body shop, then I’m taking MIL grocery shopping.
But for now, we can chill a while.
Yaay well-earned chillage! You folks sure got a lot done in just a few days with MIL/FIL.
My day has been slothage & a recliner nap while Her Ladyship prep-cooked the simple meal we’re bringing to her daughter’s.
Soon we shall leave here to go there and y’all will be on your own until 8pm-ish when we return.
Happy Mom’s day to everyone who identifies as a parent, even if you are male and have a cat!
That’s sweet of you to say, but most folks out this way are well informed about proper behavior around rattlers. Seeing them in the wild isn’t a daily thing, but it certainly isn’t rare or uncommon. If I see a car stopped in the middle of the road and someone with a stick in front of the car…I usually just assume rattler because people tend to stomp at “safe” snakes. I’m usually right.
What, did you make him stay up until midnight or something?
That’s rather redundant, wouldn’t you say?
You will be much better at it next time! Good luck, I hope this works out well for you.
Beautiful day for walking. It was 72º Ferret Height when I started, and it’s 76º now. Got schweaty, and I’ve had a shower. The deck at CJ’s Beach House was packed, and there were loads of people at the beach.
I’m going to try to make Schnitzel out of pork chops tonight. I’ll pound them flat. I haven’t made Schnitzel since veal became impossible to find.
Happy Sunday!
The usual Sunday chores are done, 2 quarts each of chicken and vegetable broth made and put in the freezer, Nelson bathed and a small studio project completed. Now to chill until bedtime.
We had to run back to MIL’s old apt because I forgot that there was a load of wet clothes in the washer that I was supposed to put in the dryer. So we brought it home and it’s in my dryer. We also looked around at the stuff we’ve got to bring home and the rest of the stuff that has to go to the new apt. LOTS of stuff still. But I think we have a plan. I need to call Daughter and coordinate.
Anyway, NOW we can chill. I hope.
Howdy Y’all! I deheathenated, dealt with the meetin’, got back to da cave, made and et a sammich and napped. Someone brought cheese straws for coffee hour, so I pigged out on ‘em. I told OYKW, who possibly loves the things more than me, and he was jealous. Serves him right. Tomorrow is men’s night over to the church house, thus, steaks are marinatin’ and beer is chillin’. The biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Next door neighbor is out of town (has been for the past four days), so I went over to check her trash can. There were two small bags of trash in it, so I got 'em and put 'em in our can. Thus, I have completed my good deed for the month. Now ‘tis chill time. Well, chill time after I send out an email to begin beggin’ for servers for next month’s Sunday services. How I toil!
Happy Sunday!
I wanted to go to the park today, but I got a huge leg cramp again last night and my leg is sore today.
My son says I am walking better.
I’m just tired of hurting.
I’ve started taking vitamins again, added magnesium, and upped my water from 6-8 glasses a day to 8 - 10 glasses a day.
I am going to the doctor tomorrow, so I will see what she says.
I want to get stuff done around the house today, but it is not looking good for that. Anything I can do while sitting down will get done. As for the rest…?
I have been trying to get some photos together to make prints for my son’s birthday.
He wants prints of Ripple, but I will do some of Mackie, Adam, and Echo too.
It is harder than you think it would be.
Very frustrating to me.
Barky/Humpy mom may go with me to the airport. I figured she knows the place well and she volunteered.
Actually, she is happy to do it because she will get to hold the new guy on the ride home.
Unless she drives, then I get to hold him.
Got some stuff done today, but nowhere as much as is needed.
I remember once when you said that if a Southern wedding didn’t serve cheese straws it wasn’t considered official. I still have the recipe you posted for them.
Our daughter facetimed with me this afternoon. Went to CVS to pick up Hubs’ 'scrips but they only had one of them. This location is closing May 23 so only 9 more days before it closes. Then went to Fitness Center and was only able to workout on NuStep for 26 minutes as I needed to haul hide to 6pm mass.
Before I left I had asked Hubs if he would be able to grill the steaks or if I should plan to fry them when I returned. He said he could grill them. Also asked him to bake some potatoes and saute some onions, bell peppers and mushrooms. He did all but it totally exhausted him. Although he said the shrooms were past their prime, so they were pitched in the trash. The ribeye was very good. I had baked a blueberry crumb pie before I left and had it with vanilla ice cream for dessert. So, not a bad mother’s day dinner.
??? What are cheese straws???
Evening all. Went to Logan’s for meatloaf and I guessed I timed it good, wasn’t much of a crowd at all and I got some huge chunks of meat, so came home and slept for 2.5 hours, so no gym or anything else. Still about 85F outside but will cool down considerably once it gets dark.
Sari, hope the aches go away soon and that new pup is everything you expect.
FCM, glad the move went as planned and hope MIL likes her new place.
JtC, I’m in suburb central here, seeing any type of wildlife is uncommon, so the greeting any rattlesnake would get here in N. Ali-bama would probably be from a 12-gauge.
Wheelie, hope the new job goes well. If you can report from such an out-of-the-way Place like Spokane, drop on by. And I’ve traveled for work and pleasure dozens of times and I still over-pack.
Herald, I check my weight on the digital scale at the gym, usually around the same time on Monday, so I get a fairly constant reading. Been dropping a pound or so every other week, last one was 257.6lbs, so we’ll see what tomorrow is like.
Boo fae, sounds like you had a lot of fiun and have something to look forward too this Firday. Sounds like a great time, unfortunatley you have to work between them…
OK, need to check the water meter (think I’ll back off to once a week after this) and find a little sustenance around the house. All y’all have a good night/morning and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.
Weighed myself again after getting dressed, and the scale said 238 – same thing the doctor’s scale said Friday. So I guess I’ll believe the 233…
