(Old) Halfway through the month - Midway in the MMP

No, it’s because I procrastinate. :upside_down_face:

In that case…good on you for finally getting it done!

I do agree that it is just a bother. I don’t miss working at all, but I do miss the nurse showing up to give us all shots instead of us all having to remember to do it.

Piper goes on an Arctic expedition

  • heavy lace-up winter boots that go well over the ankles;
  • blue fleecy sweater;
  • Winter parka;
  • Toque;
  • Scarf;
  • Gloves;
  • deep breath;
  • Open door;
  • walk to back gate;
  • Kitchen garbage is emptied!
  • Walk back;
  • Fingers tingling — should have worn the Inuit mitts as well!

Duty done!

:snowflake::snowflake::snowflake::snowflake::snowflake:

I was going to post, “I am a bigger procrastinator than you.” a few minutes ago but, you know…

:open_mouth: That’s reallllllllllly cold!

Played with the new die cutter with cuts. Tomorrow, I’ll see how it does with embossing. Right now, I’m surfing and eating a bowl of popcorn, with unseasoned tribute taken out for Nelson.

I did some dusting and organizing. I took a nap. I watched some handegg. Now it’s Sazarac and stir fry time.

I have the same problem with my gin. I suspect the fat guy in a tuxedo on my couch.

“I’m in your base toasting my buns”

Yay!

:thinking:
Are you cleared for that, or am I gonna have to road trip down and beat you with a clue by four?

LOL, I have been punished a thousand times for this vain folly.

I snapped some pics but only one turned out halfway good. I’ll keep trying.

I’ll be so relieved when Mr. JtC’s procedure is in the rear view mirror. Please keep us posted as you can on Friday.

Unfortunately I don’t have any spinach, baby or otherwise. It is bad for Hubs gout.

One of the worst days of my life; it went on for close to 6 hrs.
Puts me in mind of the expression: first thing we do is kill all the lawyers.

aka Trivets

WHAT is the news about JoAnnes??? Do I need to rush there tomorrow?

Ok, off to bed. Nighty-night all.

Oh, glad that you’re home metal mouse. But please take it very easy for a while.

Yup, that’s what I’ve got.

Absolute worst-case scenario options are 1a) they get snuggle time inside my layers of sweater - not at the same time, I don’t need inter-species Battle Royale inside my sleeves - and 2b) run my car for a while and bring everyone in there.

(I fueled up today with that specific scenario in mind.)

Can you imagine, two snakes in travel containers in the same small hatchback as dozens of their prey which have all gotten riles as a result of being disturbed?
I’d have to duct-tape everyone’s enclosures shut.

I thought you partied … :frowning:

I didn’t think so … jokes about calculus go right over my head, and a “you might have to be a math major to get this one” wouldn’t ruffle any of my feathers.

I’ve started making undignified noises getting up from a seat, too.
Like, “old people” sounds. WTF?

There’s a party happening somewhere, I just know it.

Ah, naw, what fresh hell awaiteth us now?

I gotta dash back out for a pre-BRRRRRmageddon provisioning excursion. (Okay, we got tipped out at work & imma hit the dispo.)

I’ll try to remember :wink: to look up what’s happening with JoAnne upon my hopefully triumphant return.

Glad to hear it. Take care.

My Covid arm is a bit tender tonight. Flu arm is fine.

MM Glad you’re home from the horsepital. And hope the healing goes quickly.

shoe I’ve started with the old people sounds when getting up. And I must say the floor gets farther away later in the day. Long about 6pm if I drop something it may as well have gone to a different dimension.

Thinking I’ll head to the temp shop tomorrow and work on the boat.

Maybe not tomorrow, but soon-ish. They’re filing for bankruptcy, for the second time.

it faced an “unexpected ramp-down, and, in some cases, the entire cessation of production” of important items that shoppers come to the store for. That stunted sales …

Dispo run was successful and pleasant. I was expecting a bit of a crowd - Saturday night AND winter weather a-comin’ - but I guess everyone is glued to the Lions’ imminent loss.

Bonus! I was poking around their website before heading out, thought, “Hmm, now that I know what I want, maybe I’ll order online?” Tried that, thought it didn’t go through, but it did AND the order was even successfully linked to my rewards account, so yay for all that.

Now I have enough provisions for tonight … errr, next several days …

ETA the munchies now bring us … dinner decisions!
Will it be “other half of hunk o’cow” tonight, and spinach quiche tomorrow? Or vice-versa?

… and when will we make more chicken broth, cuz the last batch - made with lotsa chicken paws feet, was amazing?!?

Just as I was about to leisurely edit the above, I looked over my purchase bag.

OH NO! :exploding_head:

I was so anxious to get home (and out of my work clothes) I neglected to check the bag in the parking lot, and one of my items was MISSING!

For a cash-only business with a high (heh) incentive for shrink, I wasn’t sure what would happen.
This is my next-door place; they know me; I absolutely did not wanna cause a stink.

But this wasn’t a cheap dollar joint, either. And the product was a CBC/CBG blend that I’m hoping will ease some inflammatory joint pain (my back, and my Achilles) so it wasn’t just some impulse buy; a bit of research went into this one.

Plus it’s not a one-off; this would be several weeks’ worth at least.

I put on pants & came right on back, and I recognized the girl checking me in was the one who’d packed the bag. As soon as I gently said, “Um, X was missing,” she got that look on her face and hustled to the back.

About a minute later, all was right with the world and I was heading back home again with a song in my heart and a renewed appetite for life dinner.

I am SO GLAD I looked in the bag when I did, when they were still open & the same staff was around; they remembered me just being there, etc.

Anyway, dinner!
Since the hunk o’cow was aging, I decided that was fine for tonight. It’s sitting in a bath of red wine, Wershersher, a splash of O.J. and some soy sauce.

Need to wipe clean the cast-iron skillet, and maybe yeah definitely for sure saute up more onion.

I believe there are garlic knots in the freezer, too.

Meanwhile, in case I don’t have hot water or electricity in a coupla days, there’s a small load of warm socks and stuff a-swishin’ in the washer.

Worst comes to worst, I can fold laundry & sort socks by candlelight on Monday, as a fun pastime. :upside_down_face:

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 59 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 63 and N.O.S. later in the day. The high will hit in a couple of hours and then it will get cooler. Weather be weird. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization in which I have Verger duty. This will be followed by a quick meetin’ to begin plannin’ for the Shrove Tuesday pancake feast. After that it will be home to da cave for a sammich N.O.L., nappage and other RDOS inactivities.

shoe glad you were able to get your expensive stuff. If you have to fold laundry and sort socks by candle light, you can pretend to be on the set of Little House On The Prairie.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Mornin’.

It’s cloudy and gloomy and not as warm as forecast here today. Plan for the day is mainly tidying up the outside. There’s a bunch of stuff that needs to get driven to the dump, but also needs breaking down before it will fit in the car. There’s also a load of branches that need shredding/burning/taking to the dump/chopping up and keeping for when I get a woodburner depending on size.

What there is not much of is energy or motivation, so I’m currently sitting in with a cocoa procrastinating.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 1c/35f with a predicted high of 2c/36f, and cloudy. Weather app says “Cold, dark, overcast and fucking stupid.” Well, it’s cold and grey but it’s dry so that’s enough of a win.

That sounds halfway decent for hospital food - I hope they let you out soon, and thanks for the updates to stop us all worrying too much :slight_smile: We’ll still worry, but just a bit less. And I see from a later post that you’re back home, hopefully resting and following the doc’s instructions!

Sounds nasty - I am sure you will do the sensible thing and dress appropriately if you have to go out, and stay in as much as you can :slight_smile:

BBBoo I’m gald your recovery is going well, you have family to take care of you, and Harriet to choose the best stickers to brighten up the dressing!

Ollie is wise. Listen to Ollie.

I’ve had a quick skim of the posts today because I’ve got two days to catch up on. I was going to post yesterday but just ran out of time. I was up early on Saturday morning to do feline tums and bums, then went to the petrol station round the corner to put some air in the car’s tyres as the pressure warning light was on. After that, I went to the gym (655 cals burned on the pushme-pullyou, and then Biplav’s kettlebell circuits class). On the way home I stopped at the big supermarket petrol station to put some fuel in the tank (10p per litre cheaper than the place round the corner from home).

Back home for a shower, quick lunch, check litter trays and put extra food out for the mogs, then I took 'im indoors to get some inner tubes for his bike tyres, and after that we headed off to a charity music festival. It was for Demential Awareness, who do great work supporting people with dementia and their families - it’s an annual event at this particular venue, and well worth the ticket price. There were 9 bands in total, all of them played for free, and various other people volunteered their time to do door duty, raffle ticket sales and other stuff.

We popped out mid-evening to get some food at a local Turkish restaurant which took longer than expected because they were short-staffed and the place was packed. Food was delicious, and we were back in time for the last two bands so it was a very good day out. I had the car, so I dropped two of our friends off at their hotel on the way back, and we were back in house by 1am.

Lovely event, great music, popped out for great food, caught up with some friends and had a lot of fun. Today’s plan is slothage, I am planning to make some chilli for dinner tonight, and lunch will be foraged from the fridge. Other than that, sofa and book beckons.

Up in time to eat and be presentable for church. Though I am kindof presentable; I sleep in leggings and a tank top and never have a bad hair day.
Are weatherpeeps more excitable nowadays?
They said there was a weather advisory from 10 am to 10 pm with snow, starting at 5 am.
Now my phone says snow won’t start til noon.
Its 26.
Why are they so fearful about the low temps?
It says 10 tomorrow and 7 Tues.
I recall in January 1984 there were a few days below 0.
Don’t recall any outages.

My guess is because it can be dangerous even if you’re out for a very short time, and because some people leave their pets outside, and because the cold can cause problems like (in DC) water main breaks or slick roads or a whole host of other things we don’t think about when the weather is reasonable. Just the other day, I went out without a jacket, not thinking because my car lives in the garage, and it has never gotten below 40° out there. Had I been thinking, I’d have grabbed something warmer than the pullover I was wearing in the house.

We’re promised maybe an inch of accumulation overnight - rain/snow predicted. And when we’re leaving on Tuesday morning, it’s supposed to be in single digits. I’m going to suggest FCD gas up the car today so we’ll be ready to go. Daughter loaned us a cable that, theoretically, will allow us to play Sirius from his phone thru the car speakers. I’ve got one small afghan in the car and and I’ll toss another in there, just in case. I’ll also put the snow brush/ice scraper back in the trunk. I’ve got a list started - my auxiliary brain. If we wait till the last minute, I’m sure to forget something.

Speaking of forgetting - I apparently didn’t take my meds Firday night, dammit. On the other hand, it means I missed a dose of my seizure meds, and nothing happened, which is a good sign. I’ve got to keep taking them till June (per the neurologist) then see her again and figure out if I still need them. Regardless, I hate when I forget my meds. That’s why I have the pill caddy, plus it’s a good reminder of what day it is. :wink:

I’m going to make some egg salad today to take with us. I bought some slider buns yesterday, and I’ll also take some pulled poke - that way we have a couple of meals if we don’t want to venture out. And speaking of venturing, I found out yesterday that the Holiday in charges $10/day to park!!! It’s off season, fercryinoutloud! And I could see them charging for a second vehicle, but dang!! I guess the CEO needs the extra for his yacht payment, or maybe the mortgage on his Tuscan villa??

Funny moment from Visit of the Spawn that I must share: I forgot (again) to pick up the cat’s kibble feeder before Trevor got here. So,. naturally, as soon as he walked in, he went for it. And I immediately reacted by yelling “Dammit, dog, get out of there!!” and putting the feeder out of reach. Tobias was right there and he said “It’s not Dammit Dog, it’s Trevor!” :rofl:

And I guess that’s all for now. Happy Sunday!!

It is -1f (-18c) here this morning. There is no reason why we need to leave the house until about noon the I need to pick up my daughter and her BF at the airport.

Don’t forget, you are starting the new MMP thread tomorrow!
