So where is pretty kitty spending the night? Reunited with their family, with you, foster…?
Blue is at home. The woman said she’d like to find an older person or couple to take him, so he can cuddle on their laps (which he likes to do).
The guy said he owes us. I get very uncomfortable when people show me gratitude, so I said in a husky voice, ‘One day, and that day may never come, I may ask a favour of you…’ He laughed, and I said I really love that movie. The woman didn’t thank us, but she was focused on Blue. Her son brought our cat carrier (which the tree guy used to catch the cat) back.
ETA: I ate one piece of fish (the smaller piece), with tartar sauce, and the fries, with malt vinegar and salt. Now I’m having a bourbon.
Evening all. Except for preparing some sustenance I have barely moved out of the chair facing the computer since I got home. Actually don’t feel that tired. all that exercising stuff has helped, but just not motivated. Tomorrow is “Rat’s Choice” for my Sunday Dining and I am thinking about raiding the Krispy Kreme store early while the donuts are still hot. Also need to stop by Wal-Mart and Kroger for odds and ends, and want to get to the gym, but otherwise Sunday will definitely be a day of rest.
Did get the hair paint from Amazon, so my 7-year olds will get to paint my beard sometime in the next week. U10’s still have to decide if they want to paint it or shave it.
Flyboy, glad there was a happy ending to the feline drama.
swampy, at least I didn’t fall down in the parking lot this week. Knee still has an impressive scab on it.
Getting close to 9pm and still have things to do. Catch y’all tomorrow.
I wish The Missus didn’t spend all of her cash. But the important thing is that the kitten was rescued.
I’m so glad your Blue had a happy ending, but this is 100% true.
I once had a beloved cat decide to climb a 60 foot Doug fir during one of the coldest, snowiest spells we ever had in my 20 years here. He’d never done anything like that before. Something must have scared him.
I spent the first whole day trying to coax him down. No joy. I then left him to his own devices with tempting things at the base of the tree in the hope he would find his way down overnight.
Nope.
I knew he wouldn’t survive another night up there. Temperatures were plunging into the low teens overnight. So I called my favorite arborist to see what he might suggest.
He groaned and said, “I can try, but I’ll tell you right now, there’s a good chance the cat is going to either climb higher and fall, or go out on a limb and fall. This almost always ends badly.”
I said, “He’s not going to make it another night, so I’d appreciate it if you would try.”
He said, “There’s 2 feet of snow on the ground and the roads are nearly impassible. I’m going to charge you $300 no matter how it goes.”
Fair enough. At least the guy drives a duel-ley.
It went exactly as he described it would. My arborist made a slow, deliberate climb. The cat, name of Kevin, climbed higher. My arborist made a calculated, careful grab, Kevin danced just out of reach onto a limb… and fell. Bounced off several other limbs, hit the nice soft snow and took off into the woods like he was scalded.
I forked over the $300, thinking it was the most money I’d ever spend to kill a cat, added a nice bottle of wine, thanked him for his attempt and sobbed for the rest of the day.
I put out a heat lamp and food, just in case. The food kept disappearing, but that proved only that some animal was eating it. I never saw Kevin.
Two weeks later, the silly ass wandered out of the woods like nothing had ever happened.
He used up a few lives, I imagine, but he went on to live a long life after his ordeal. I never stopped reminding him his outcome was the exception that proved the rule. And I’m so glad your Blue was, too!
You and wifey Catmom are truly wonderful people~you’ve warmed my heart all the way out here in flyover county. Here’s to you both .
The rescue went pretty much opposite of what CCR said. It couldn’t have gone more smoothly.
I was just in the catio, and a little bird with a reddish head perched on the cord for the ‘naked bulbs’. We had a nice conversation, but it flew away when I stood up.
… and went exactly as they described in my situation. My cat was very lucky.
Shoe, you reminded me of this, my favorite shirt. https://www.threadless.com/shop/%40threadless/design/stupid-raisins-stay-out-of-my-cookies
I am currently sitting here ‘making’ soup for MusicMan who will be home about 11ish. It was a mix of stuff that you just throw in the kettle with some other stuff. My choice (at 10p.m.) was the one that cooks in 90 minutes or the one that cooks in 6 hours. So, corn chowder it is!
Ha, I saw one that says, “Oatmeal raisin cookies are why I have trust issues.”
That’s good, too! I could have worn that one to school. I was always afraid to wear the other one to work because it said “stupid.”
I’m glad that kitty is safe and at home **flyboy **. Your arborist rocks.
He does indeed. I’m tempted to ask to ‘borrow’ Blue. I think Abbey might like a ‘son’. Not sure how Goo would take it. And then there’s Wifey, RN’s patient’s cat Fluffy, who Catmom has agreed to take when her patient can’t take care of her.
I was holding my breath for both kitties.
Watching Kevin fall must have been so heartbreaking, I’d have spent the rest of the day (or days) crying.

Got the packages shipped and got two nice travel mugs at GW. One even has a metal top!
Score! Mine has a plastic lid, but it’s recessed so I haven’t managed to break it yet. Just wait, tomorrow I will be whining about breaking the lid and not being able to get a replacement.
We used to like to go to the County Fair in Prescott because we liked seeing all of the local craftspeople. I entered my needlework on a regular basis. I stopped doing that when I saw that some idiot had safety pinned my blue ribbon to my canvas
The next year we only went to see the local crafts people and the Future Farmers of America critters and kids because the proud kids are just too cute for words. We spent so long fighting our way through the aggressive sales folks from Phx that we didn’t go back again.

Also, we went to the bar down the road for a burger and a beer
Now see…you can get motivated for the important stuff!!!
Sorry for the double post, shit is getting real now. GG and I will be leaving on June 10th, so I’ve started planning out that trip.
We will be closing on June 2nd and hubs will be dealing with a few things before coming back. All of our important stuff will be packed by that time, there will be no reason for GG and I to be there when the movers are. GG will stress and hubs and I will bicker because we are also stressed, so it will work out better this way.
I will be in WV to tell the movers where to put the boxes while hubs is dealing with the final clean up in AZ because he is an even worse procrastinator than I am and I am not dealing with his mess again.
GG needs to be well out of the confusion and behind two doors until all of the banging and opened doors are over with. Then we will start looking for another cat because GG has never been an only cat before and he really doesn’t like it.
I’m thinking we want a 2-5 year old female who is good with other cats, but Hubs thinks we could go older because GG is a giant breed and they don’t live as long as moggies.
We will be discussing this because I don’t want to spend my end days catless.
Canes did not win, but apart from the reeeaaallly short nap not a bad day.

The rescue went pretty much opposite of what CCR said.
Glad Blue is safe.

We will be discussing this because I don’t want to spend my end days catless.
I know the feeling(and also not dogless)

Someone from National is coming out wanting to do a safety inspection of our spaces.
Sounds like National needs to listen to local a bit more. That amount of traveling is insane.

Now I’m sporting a Superman band-aid.
Hope he protects you from other sharp objects.

Last night I read at least 63 tornadoes had touched down in that hour long swath from Lincoln to Omaha-they expect to find evidence of more as meteorologists study the damage.
63! Glad there were so few injuries and that you got to spend the time sheltering with your favorite people.
FCM, sorry about the boat show, but yay for breakfast at Dennys.
MetalMouse, that’s a very active day. You might have earned a day of rest. Or at least, some time in the sauna. (ETA and Krispy Kremes!)

Tree guy climbed the tree and rescued the 7-to-9-month-old Russian Blue rescue kitty.
YAY! Bonus points for making Catmom happy.

GG and I will be leaving on June 10th, so I’ve started planning out that trip.
Yup, that’s getting real. Sounds like a good division of labor. Hope everything goes smoothlier than expected and you are soon a two-cat household again.

I know the feeling(and also not dogless)
Hope the dogless era comes to an end soon.
I seem to me in the minority here. Oatmeal raisin cookies are my favorite cookie. My paternal grandmother only liked milk chocolate, so she didn’t like Tollhouse cookies, because they have semi-sweet chocolate chips.
She had found milk chocolate chips and sent them to me for baking. They were not good. I’d rather have butterscotch morsels. Or peanut butter.
Maybe I should go have breakfast. Hubby keeps waking up at about one hour before the alarm and then wants to go back to sleep and then sleeps longer. But now it’s 8:30 and I is hungry.
Today’s schedule includes a walk, paperwork and homemade lasagne from the freezer. Might do some baking as well. Bought a dozen eggs on Friday and I’ve only made french toast so far.
Happy Sunday!

Aren’t big sisters the bestest?? Roxy is so protective of her brother, it’s heartmelting!
well better than big brothers … I know of one that tried to trade his younger brother for a puppy and a kitten on
different occasions:looks innocently: yeah he was a bit jealous and his brother was a pain for the first 25 years or so

Too late to edit: Gateway 1890 has very good fish & chips. Nobody up here can make coleslaw though.
I’ve found not many people in so cal can either … pretty sad when KFC makes the best coleslaw around..
Flyboy wifey is good people … although you already know that …
On the tradeshow front, some of those haven’t recovered from covid …Although the big electronic game one was permanently put on ice due to being too big,too expensive the companies don’t want to worry about making demos to show off …
Good morning!
Poodle on lap. More when I can easily reach the iPad.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 63 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 82 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Last night we made the executive decision to be heathens this mornin’. OK, I’ll watch online so maybe just semi-heathen. We shall have a N.O.L. of sketties, sallit and cheesey garlic bread. High sloth shall rule the day.
FlyBoy yay for the kitty rescue!
JtC they make really good burgers and sammiches and have ice cold beer. They provide the motivation.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Sunday Y’all!
