(Old) Happy Earthday in the MMP!

Last night I decided to have some amaretto before going to bed. I don’t think it was even a shot - the bottle was almost empty. But it did the trick - taking me to mega-weird dreamland.

I was having a party. doggio was invited and said he’d come but he never showed up! How rude!! FCD didn’t like where the porta-potties were sitting and persuaded some guests to help him move them. (Porta potties???) I made a big pot of steamed crabs, but I forgot to use any Old Bay or anything, so essentially, they were just crabs boiled in water - very disappointing, even in a dream!! Then this meteorologist showed up with his laptop, sat at a side table, and proceeded to aim a lighted propane torch into an electrical outlet which led to flames coming out of another outlet! I went over and yelled at him, and he said something about how many people die in hurricanes. I told him he might have burned my house down. So he left. And someone was doing oral surgery on FCD right there in the party! Then I woke up.

Amaretto - who knew???

FCD had a bad night - pain, I’m sure. He came back to bed just as I was getting up. He’s going to take his mom to church again today (a different church from last week) so I’m to wake him in time to get ready. Poor baby. I wish his mom would decide not to go today.

I’m going to try to fix my carpet cleaner - I suspect the problem is just a clog, but we shall see. If I get it fixed, I’m going to use it on the area rug in the basement, which we’re going to swap with the area rug upstairs. So there’s that to look forward to.

Meanwhile, MIL’s alarm just went off - I need to go see if she does intend to get up. Then the day begins.

Happy Sunday!!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 9/c48f with a predicted high of 11c/52f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s a good fucking day to go mudding.” No, don’t think so, I have no plans to be out of the house today.

Glad to hear that those in tornado country are all safe, and the cat is out of the tree. All’s well in the mumper world, so I can go forth and sloth!

We’re wrestling with this, as well. While Q’itih has perked up quite a bit, she’s getting up there. Can’t imagine not having a cat around, but it doesn’t seem right to leave a pet behind when you die. I’m pretty sure we’ve agreed not to have another one, but you know how that goes.

Its already 70. I am up and eventually off to church.
Not much else on the agenda, hitting neighbors up for toilet paper; the good stuffs expensive!

Super nosy, and feel free to tell me to MYOB but … why does an elderly woman with health issues have to wake up to an alarm?

Does she want it?

Cuz if I was old and sick (and certainly way past retired) I’d throw anything that woke me up right out the window.

… and call it exercise/P.T. and go the hell back to sleep.

You may well wind up with a whole clowder of cats.

Mine too. I don’t get the raisin hate.

Not Mooooooom, but I’m guessing to be up to take meds on time.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP / meal prep for the week. Not a whole lot shaking other than the usual Sunday chores today.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

The county animal shelter here has a major surplus of dogs. It’s a no kill shelter so it just keeps growing; last time I checked they had over 200 dogs. Some are fostered, some being held in pet food stores, and some at the shelter. If you were to take a vacation to Round Rock, Texas, I know you would soon be dogless no more. Be glad to offer you a place to stay in a nearby town. We adopted our kitty there and the folks are lovely and helpful.

JtC seems like flyboy knows where to get a Russian Blue for GG….
I’m in KY spectating at a horse show. The left side of my neck got sunburned yesterday. Apparently I missed that area with the sunscreen.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Although Spot did try to get me to sleep in, mainly by standing on my windpipe. The usual cleaning, afternoon sloth, and ministering to the S.E.G.

Porta potties, unseasoned crab, and no martinis? You suck as a dream host. :stuck_out_tongue:

You can’t carpe the diem if you’re abed past 7.

A bit far, unless I had a '78 Trans Am. Mainly I’m waiting to see how things shake out with the shift closings at work.

The day after I quit working I shut off my alarm with a big smile on my face. I think I may have set an alarm a couple of times since that day 16 years ago, but only if we’re trying to catch a flight somewhere. Otherwise, I wake up when my body tells me I’ve slept long enough.

Especially the way I make them. I usually add some chopped up dried apricots, too.

Someone needs me!

I’d say if you get another pet, maybe have a plan for if something happens. I don’t remember if I mentioned this, but the reason that they suspected something was wrong with my dad is because the puppy was barking incessantly. When the police officer called me, he asked if I wanted the pets and, unfortunately, there was no way that I could take either one. He told me that they would go to the pound, but, in fact, they stayed in the building and management found a place for both the dog and bird.

Meanwhile, I have tried to clean off the dining room table and ended up with a clean(er) oven! No, not sure how that happened. Ok, well, actually, I had pulled out the racks because I was trying to fit the jar that I got as the base for my urn in the oven. And I decided it would be a good idea to clean everything before putting it back in. (No, I’m not going to bake the ashes, just that I’m using polymer clay and I’m going to bake it onto the jar.)

Ok, I think I’ll go wake up MusicMan now.

Mornin’ everyone.

It’s 48 degrees Fahrenheit and damp outside. Rain showers in the morning will devolve into steady rain this afternoon, and the high temperature will be 54 degrees Fahrenheit. This is definitely not yard work weather.

I had a pretty much sleepless night last night, but my husband kindly woke up early enough to deal with the pups and let me sleep in. I slept in until 6:00 a.m.

I am now on my second cup of coffee and will start chores in about an hour.

I am not sure we’ll get another pet after Buster and Maisie. If they make it to 10 years, we’ll be 70. I’m not really a cat person, but I love dogs. I don’t want to leave a dog behind if something happens to me. And, although little dogs can be sweet, I prefer large breeds.

JtC, I’ll bet that move date just flies up on you. That is soon. I hope everything goes smoothly for you. I think having one person on each end is a good idea too. I don’t like bickering, and my husband gets cranky in these sorts of situations too.

FCM, that was definitely a weird dream! I hope FCD is feeling a little better now. I’m sorry the boat show sucked.

Johnny, I’m glad the cat rescue went well. Your wife is a kind lady; not many neighbors would have made the same effort as you both did.

Well, I should turn on the dishwasher and maybe get a load of laundry started.

There were two other neighbours who tried to help by trying to coax the cat down. Another concerned neighbour came by with his pup to check out the situation. While I tried to help by telling the neighbour about CCR, and acted as a messenger since we don’t have the neighbours’ phone number, Catmom is the one who argued with CCR and then finally called in the tree guy. (And gave the tree guy all of her cash. He only said it’s customary to give a ‘donation’.) Catmom got it done!

Morning all. Moderately eventful, had a dream where I was being stalked by people unknown in a large city, but that went away as I started to wake up and then was reading a wall-o-text on my ceiling, didn’t make any sense but I could make out some words, but before the mystery was solved I woke up. Got dressed and made a Sunday morning shopping run to Kroger (apples and the Sunday NY TImes), then home to pickup the plastic bags I was going to donate at Wal-Mart, then onto Krispy Kreme, where I bought…well, probably more glazed donuts than I should have, then hit green lights for nearly 5 miles straight out to Wal-Mart, where I picked up some 2-Liter Pepsi and a couple other things. Now home and watching the Southwest Chief arrive in LaPlata, Missouri in the rain, which is the most exciting thing for me in the next several hours. Probably will feel guilty in a while and head over to the gym to do penance for all those donuts I scarfed down a few minutes ago, we’ll see.

It’s 71F heading to 83F today, so it’s much like yesterday’s weather here. Rain is due Tuesday night according to the weather wizards.

bright tree, interesting story paralleling flyboys, what we do for our pets/animals.

JtC, sounds like you have a plan for the cross-country re-location; hope it all goes well for you and GG this next month.

I can take or leave raisins in my cookies, but much prefer chocolate chips.

FCM, glad you didn’t have two shots of the amaretto, no telling what might have happened.

Cookie, same here, unless I have to be somewhere specific at an early time, the alarm clock is never set. Strange as it may be after saying that, I just bought a new bedroom alarm clock, the one I have has stopped alarming and I will not be late for those 8am soccer games.

Coppertone,

Nicely played.

OK, onward into the day. Have a good Sunday all.

Sweetie, I have the same question. Frankly, I think she’s losing it. But there’s nothing we can do but let her keep on keepin’ on. At least her alarms don’t wake us - I’m always awake before they go off and FCD sleeps thru them. Tho, to be fair, she wanted to go to church today and it takes her about 2 hours from waking up to being dressed to leave the house.

Fortunately, her meds aren’t that time critical. I have reminders set at 9AM and PM, but if she doesn’t get them till 10:30, it’s not a big deal.

I have a yummerrific recipe for oatmeal cookies, and sometimes I add raisins, sometimes craisins, sometimes pecans, sometimes no extras. Dang, now I’ve got a cravin’…

Meanwhile, I fixed my carpet cleaner - YAY and DAMMIT!! Yay because it’s now working. Dammit because I found one I want to buy but I can’t justify spending the money right now when FCD is in the midst of very expensive dental work. Anyway, I finally got to clean the nasty cruddy area between the kitchen and the dining room. Next will be the area run in the basement that we’re going to swap with the area rug in the living room. But that’s an adventure for another day.

It’s gorgeous out there and after FCD and MIL get back, we’ll be going to Leonardtown to the car show. It’s fun to look at the old cars and truck, plus fresh air and walking is always nice. For now, I’m going to chill after my adventures in troubleshooting and repair.

dogbutler: “Time to change the sheets.”
Spot: “I shall assist my primate!”
Morgan Freeman: “He was in fact no assistance what so ever.”

But down to vacuuming as far as pre laundry chores.

Spot would likely consume a Yorkie.

Different kind of Yorkie. (York Peppermint Patty commercial)

(I have some in the freezer. Score!)

The veins and tendons in the backs of my hands are much more prominent than they used to be.

Mix them all together! Milk chocolate, semisweet, butterscotch and peanut butter – all in one cookie…

That sounds good.

Today is Palm Sunday for the orthodox types. We have pussy willows as palm trees don’t grow in the chilly Slavic lands, and importing palm branches are expensive.

We could have palms now… the Orthodox Church is heavy on the tradition, so pussy willows it is. The non Slavic balmy weather churches have palms.

Got home, ate lunch, and gonna do some laundry so I have unmentionables to wear this week.

I’m glad to hear the cat is out of the tree. What a relief for everyone.
