(Old) Happy Earthday in the MMP!

But then my head would be uneasy, I think… Actually I try to vary my Moanday burger business between the usual fast food chains, Burger King was just the one that came up, next week will probably be Culver’s or Whataburger.

boo fae, thanks for the information. Doubt that very many (if any) places in the USA do that); we tend to be a school-bus place.

FCM, If I can still travel in my 80’s-90’s like that family does, I’ll count myself lucky. And who gets a hyper-terrier when you are that old? Happy keyboarding.

Herald, hope the pain abates, I know it is no fun.

Taters, I keep my shoes on a shelf at the end of my bed about 2 feet high. Not sure if the would deter Buster or not, but hey, new shoes!!  And hang in there at work, budget time is never fun.

swampy, happy laundry day, I am trying to make it to Sunday before the inevitable running out of something, but it’s going to be close.

Sticky buns, you said “I went to the psychiatrist and got the ashes.” I iz confused, was that one stop or two? And yeah for the volunteer acceptance.

nellie, doggio, add me as another Battlegound fan. Still will occasionally find myself mowing while chanting “sound off–One Two, sound off-three, four, cadence count…”

nellie, shoe, haven’t had that experience with a phone yet, but keys…oh yeah, many times.

Up early and have broken fast, it has been two mornings without a mouse sighting, so maybe the long re-locations have done the trick, but I’ll keep the traps out for a bit longer, just in case. Nothing much on the agenda until this afternoon when I practice soccer with the 7-year olds, so may try to make it to the gym, I’m getting pretty close to my 220lb goal for the year already, may have to try eating more… Weather is gorgeous, no rain and 50F heading for 75F with 80F promised for tomorrow, which is when mowage is planned.

OK, onward into the day. Take care all.

Mostly us admin/support types. The strike’s been called by the union I belong to, there are three different unions covering campus staff - Unison, Unite, and GMB (General, Municipal & Boilermakers). Both Unite and GMB have settled their pay disputes with the university but Unison has yet to reach an agreement. Unison covers office/admin staff, hospitality, estates, facilities, security, catering and other ancillary staff so that’s a lot of potential strike impact.

We’ve had several strike days so far in the campaign, this one was meant to be going on all week but they cut it to three days as a gesture of goodwill after the university made a late (and somewhat paltry) offer last Monday evening (less than 12hrs before we were due to meet to vote on strike action).

Good morning, Mumpers! My only plans today are the gym and the salon.

I know I shouldn’t, but

Ugh. Several years ago, a friend was in the ER with what turned out to be Stage IV non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Because there were no beds in the oncology ward, she was in a little ER room for 3 days. She was in a lot of pain and so terrified by the diagnosis, she couldn’t sleep, as in at all, but the ER doc refused to give her anything but Tylenol. By the time she finally got to oncology, she was delusional from lack of sleep and wracked with pain. The oncology staff was terrific. They gave her painkillers and anti-anxiety meds, and she did much better. She’s alive and still in remission today.

I get the opioid crisis, but there comes a time when “Do no harm” means not leaving the patient in pain.

Me, too!

My buddy Bob was quite the ladies’ man in his long bachelorhood. Then he met the exquisite Flo, and it was all over. She was 12 years older than he, and after many years together developed osteoporosis so bad, she couldn’t be hugged, and brushing her hair too hard could fracture her skull. He took tender care of her right to the end. He said men should marry older women so when they both got old, the stronger one could take care of the other. A great guy.

I’ve never seen a better description of the teens I taught.

Cool! Congrats!

FCM, hope your gravy-free meal is blissfully quiet.

Taters, hope you don’t have to work late, and I’m sorry about the loss of your shoes, but the image of the pups running with one end of the TP cracked me up.

You are way too clever.

They put a new belt on the feed belt for SSLAW #2. It still kept clicking off. The rest of the heaving wasn’t bad. When I got home, the power blinked out for 2 minutes when I got home. Either it was The Rapture, or the utility crew up the road flipped the wrong breaker. Spot is currently a couple of Froot Loops short of A Complete Nutritious Breakfast, and is losing a life or death struggle with my Packers door mat.

I put mine 1st in the wallet, and my DL last, with everything else in order of use.

I guess a continuous strike would be considered “not cricket”?

Miracle of miracles - my desk has been dusted!! I tossed a bunch of crap and organized some more. FCD has come home with a new desk blotter for me. MIL is still sleeping - she was up maybe 30 minutes. I don’t think it looks good…

Time to get out an play in dirt some more. I need fresh air and some sun.

A program I wrote, but hadn’t finished, kept failing. It would only write the header, and not any data records. Then I noticed I’d typed PUT-FILEB instead of PUT FILEB. Anyway, it’s working now.

This happens more times than I care to admit… when I’m looking for phone, keys, glasses, wallet.

Now I have a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for fettucine alfredo. Hubs likes it also but daughter can’t have it because she is highly lactose intolerant. She’s coming back on Sunday so today is a good day to make it. Thanks for the suggestion. I’m going to make it with some ground turkey.

Alarm went off at 5:47. Sheveled, ate cereal, off to the office. Worked 1-1/4 hrs then home.

The lawn is Hubs pride and joy. He started nagging me to mow it about a week and a half ago. Last Tuesday I told him I couldn’t do it, too much other stuff to do so he hired the neighbor kid to do it which he did on Sunday. Then Hubs started nagging me to fertilize late last week and more on Sunday and then yesterday. I was going to do it yesterday after I returned from Kroger but got annoyed with him so didn’t do it. The reason he wanted it done by EOD yesterday was that it was supposed to rain today. Well when I got home this morning it still wasn’t raining so I quickly got out the spreader and the Scott’s turf weed & feed and fertilized the front lawn but ran out of fertilizer before the boulevard was done. Came in and Hubs was up so fixed breakfast for him then asked if he wanted to accompany me to the hardware store to pick up some more fertilizer (since the Dr had said he could have a very brief excursion to a store). With a $10 discount, the fertilizer was $96; WHEW! Talk about inflation, Hubs said the last time he bought it, it was $55 for the exact same product. So finished fertilizing the strip on the boulevard then fertilized the backyard. Just as I completed the backyard, a few raindrops started falling.

Did a load of grays, need to go hang them up now. Then I think I’m going to need a nap.

Very interesting. My neighbor has walked parts of the different paths. And according to this site, I can walk from Switzerland along Jacob’s Trail (Jakobsweg) to Santiago de Compostela.

I’ve been on parts of the trail in Switzerland. It’s interesting to see the shell sign which is used to marked the trail and also the different shrines along the way. It’s a very pretty trail.

@Kitten_Mitten Thanks for explaining the vinegaring of the blueberries. I never knew such steps were necessary. But I’m glad there’s a way that Hubs can enjoy some fresh fruit.

And I might try it the next time I buy raspberries. It may not be enough for Hubs, but it might get me another day or so before they start growing fuzz.

I’ve never understood why people leave lids up, because I prefer to look at the top of the terlet lid instead of the inside of the bowl. My sister-in-law has a dog, who likes to get a drink ever so often, and her solution is to close the door, not the lid. Oh well. Does Ursala have a water fountain for her normal water source?

Yay for false alarms. Boo for getting a second squishing.

I’m glad you explained that. Because that’s probably one of the weird medical suggestions I’ve ever seen. Now I’m wondering what can be done with a turkey’s wattle.

And they’ll have to pay postage as well. Definitely entertaining.

For some reason I thought Earth Day was always on a Saturday. Wasn’t much said here about Earth Day, but maybe I wasn’t paying attention.

Played phone tag with the floor installer. Will continue tomorrow, and then start a round of phone tag with the electrician and painter as well.

Took down the curtains in the two rooms that are getting renovated. Both rooms are echo-y, when reminds me of when we first moved in and didn’t have much furniture. That was 23+ years ago. Time sure flies.

We had snow flurries both Sunday and Monday, and today we just got cold rain. Supposed to warm up later this week. I’ll be happy if we get into the teens (celsius). This single digit stuff is getting old.

Happy Tuesday!

I spent about 2 hours playing in the dirt. I think I’ve earned a rest. I’s pooped. FCD is napping. MIL is watching TV. I’ve decided what I’ll make for supper. I think I’ll read for a bit.

What will you make for supper?
I is making dorito salad with a fine powerade.

supper. Served over the rice leftover from yesterday.

My trip to the gym was delayed because I spotted spider webs on my balcony. I’m not arachnophobic, and my mother insisted we not kill spiders because they eat bugs, but these are tiny orb spiders that quickly take over the whole balcony. Apparently procreation is their recreation. A week ago, when there were no webs, I went out there and sprayed everything with vinegar water, which is supposed to repel them. Today I found several webs, two spiders, and an egg sac. I attacked them with my trusty broom and sprayed with full-strength vinegar. My friend who comes and cleans every 2 weeks IS arachnophobic, and spiders squick her right out. Spiders begone, I say.

Oh, believe me, we’ve teased my sister mercilessly about those shots. If you find anything beneficial in a turkey wattle, let us know.

Afternoon all. Actually took a nap around noon, guess the last couple of days have been busy enough to tire me out, then did some pedaling at the gym and will coach soccer in about 2 hours. Took some of my Root Beer dum-dums to the 10U game yesterday and they were a hit, so might grab those remaining and treat my 7-year old team to some. 74F and N.O.S. so a perfect day for it.

nellie, I was strongly arachnophobic when I was younger, these days if they will stay in their corner or crevice I’ll leave them be, but if they be in my kitchen or bathroom it’s MetalMouse Smash! time.

Not really, just bits of flotsam and jetsam that I’ve picked up and occasionally wanders it’s way into my thought processes.

So, he’s a Chicago Bears (Da Bears) fan?

Cat Glove, I mow my lawn regularly and pay Tru-Green to treat it 8-10 times a year, and that’s about all the interest I put in it.

Alrighty, a couple things to check on-line and a little TV to watch before heading out to chase the littles around the soccer fields. Take care all.

Free lunch today.

We had a staph luncheon to celebrate my, and a cow-orker’s employment anniversaries. She got an email on her anniversary earlier this month, and many congratulations. My anniversary was on the 2nd, and nobody remembered. (They have in the past.) But when the luncheon was announced last week, I did get a call-out.

There was pizza and Caesar salad. Our admin let me order my own salad since I wouldn’t be eating the pizza. Romaine lettuce, ham, bacon, chicken, and jalapeños, with blue cheese dressing. And I replenished my supply of 20-ounce Monster Ultra Zeros.

The savoury toasted cheese also goes very well with asparagus and green beans.

“Delayed cadence, skip cadence, count cadence count!”

Ditto. One of the things I didn’t like about my ex.

Sounds like the lead-in to a good country song!

My mother often asked me to help her find her glasses – the ones she had pushed up on her forehead.

Oxycodone, two extra-strength Tylenol, and an application of the CBD goop at 1045 this morning took care of all the pain – but it only lasted about two hours. Wife added a lidocaine patch, which helped a bit. Fun, fun, fun…

Some toll roads and bridges use LPRs to bill you at the address your tag is registered to. Anytime I go to Indiana, I get a bill from RiverLink when I cross the Ohio on I65. When they first began this, they sent one to my sister in Houston after she had crossed it on her trip up and back. She called me and asked if it was legit and I told her that it was.

Puppies! It’s a good thing that they’re so darn cute. When Nelson was a puppy, he destroyed exactly two pair of shoes with one strategically placed bite out of the left heal, leaving that shoe unwearable.

Glad you had a false alarm JtC!

My 7 mile commute this morning turned into an 18 mile commute. I got to the I24 exit from Nissan Drive, where I can actually see my irkplace, and the road was closed. I had to turn around and head in the back way. I had never taken that route going into irk, nor had I taken it after dark until this morning. I clocked in with 2 minutes to spare. They gave everyone who was late some mercy, given that the street had been closed since 2200 yesterday because a tractor trailer had gone through the guard rail and was dangling off the overpass. I haven’t heard if he was injured or not. Such excitement!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Howdy Y’all! Laundry got done and put away where it stays until it gets dirty again. Sloth, nappage, and day drinkin’ took up the rest of the day. Oh, and sup got cooked and et and the kitchen cleanded up. There was some excitatement this afternoon. The county put in new water meters so we were without water for almost an hour! Fortunately neither of us died of thirst or needed a shower durin’ that time.

JtC I think I forgot to say this earlier, but glad it was a false alarm.

Taters sorry Buster found your shoes to be a tasty snack. Smart move on the bathroom doors. Way too many puppy goodies there.

Herald sorry you were in so much pain, but glad it’s stopped for now at least.

MOOOOOOM ICK! Hope the keyboard is OK once it’s all dry.

Kitten_Mitten I gather hubs would not be happy with my “as long as it’s not the worst yahd in da 'hood I’m good” philosophy.

red nuttin’ like commuter excitatement. I once had to call irk to say I’d be late because a house was bein’ moved down the main road from da cave to the irkplace. This was back when it was a two lane road. I won the award for best excuse ever to be late for irk.

Evening all. Finally got through the NY Times for Sunday, April 14th and can start on the 21 April paper now (they do write a lot in those papers). Soccer has been practiced, the girls tied a boys team in a scrimmage and got their Root Beer Dum Dums as a reward, so everyone was happy. Have just finished the usual 2sday Mac-n-Cheese and will probably head off to bed early as mowage is on the agenda for tomorrow, probably around 10am or so.

Herald, hope you find the right combination of medications to help with the pain.

red, been there a few times when roads got closed, glad you made it.

Onward into the night. Catch up with y’all on Hump Day.

Oven Master’s sister (re-) started with us today. She used to work there a coupla-three years ago, so once she learned our new POS system and a couple of changes were pointed out by S.M. she was off and running.

Very smart, hardworking gal - I like both of our new crew!

One helluva tunder-boomer came through this afternoon - there was a thunderclap so loud the entire kitchen jumped & looked around - and during the downpour, the sun came out.

The rainbow that ensued was really spectacular.

I laughed so hard it brought tears to my eyes.

Hubs is home and GG is so happy. Sadly, he seemed to think that Hubs had his sissykat and spent enough time looking for her to make us both sad.

We are moving. This is happening. I’m currently packing the memory objects in my room and it is bitter sweet. I hold things and remember who gave it to me and why/when, which makes me smile, then I remember that the giver has been dead for years which makes my heart twinge.
