@The_Stainless_Steel_Rat : Virgin’s lounge at LHR is quite nice. Much nicer than their mostly raggedy second-rate run-out airplanes.
Be sure to visit all the food sources in the lounge and have one last tea and scotch.
@Johnny_L.A: Sorry they’re sleazy morons like their typical customers. Having rented storage units all over the USA off & on for 40 years, all but one were crooks.
@Misnomer, congrats on turning a small corner w Bailey. Best of luck tomorrow & monster {{HUGS}} to both of you.
Huh? Last night the overnight low was scheduled to be 77 so I turned on the heater set to 78 just in case. It ran off & on from 10pm to 6am. Thank Og, lest I die of icicles.
Once up at ~0600 I switched to AC at 78. Which finally triggered around 0900.
Crap. Best of luck on plans B, C, and D. I recall that flail well from my stuggles 14 months ago and also HL plus my struggles 3-ish yesrs ago.
Hope Nelson regains his bearings soon. Is there anything you can do to comfort him in this time of terror?
Can’t say it better. Hugs & nooggies to shoe!!1!
You’re about 5 minutes too long. They suck the instant they emerge from the axle grease and are enrobed in the treacle.
Way back in my Las Vegas USAF days I drove a big GMC Jimmy. Many of us from the USAF reunion brigade drove 4x4s and we often spent weekends off-roading in the nearby mountains
I still recall the day I pulled not one, not two, but three Jeeps up the mountainside after they’d lowsided a washout. Big & heavy and 400hp has its advantages. OTOH, had I screwed that up my truck would still be wreckage at the bottom of that ravine and late wife and I might’ve been late decades ago.
Turn off the screens. Boredom is the only motivator I’ve found that works. Well, that or sex, but that might be NA where y’all are.
Sorry & best of luck. Breaking this cycle is essential IMO.
Hooray!
As to me …
Good day. Easy brunch, nice sunbathing in the hot afternoon, quick pubic store run, happy hour out w buratta & lobster & cute babe playing live music. No plans for tomorrow yet
Yeah, yeah. If we had a nickel for every time we’ve heard that…
Darling Ollie tolerates his baths well enough and is in fact quite sassy after having one. But I think his time spent in a kiddie pool would last for about 15 seconds, or until I removed the restraining hand. I might like to splash around in a kiddie pool, though!
Vikings loved orange cats and took them along in their travels. Historians can track where Vikings were by the number of orange cats in the area. I learned that in community college. I can’t say where the Vikings landed or when, but I remembered the orange cats.
I am so very proud of you. I know I’d have cussed much more!
Is the AC working? I’ve heard both good and bad things about them.
Did you cry? I got teary just imagining it, how wonderful for you and them.
Small towns need small busses, LOL!
Which you will move into your 2025 file for safe keeping! Or that’s where I put all of that random stuff to sort through during the dark months of Feb and March.
I think they suck no matter what, but I try to be at least a little positive here!
And hey, the gear button is gone and now there is a black circle with a white cross you need to use to blur. New options too. Thanks SDMB for trying to improve our experience!
You da’ MAN!!! All at once or one at a time? But yeah, we did some rather stoopid things when we were out there playing too.
They make inflatable ones now! Do not buy one for your cat, ours lasted…not long.
I’ve been giving him extra cuddles and paying a lot of attention to his skin. I don’t want him to get an infection from scratching / licking himself enough to break the skin.
Lady SCAdian’s father died yesterday morning. We’ve been expecting it for several months. She’ll go down to Philly for the funeral when that’s determined; daughter and I will stay up here to take care of the cats and the house.
I had no idea! Too bad I didn;t know that a zillion years ago!
It is. I’m not thrilled with the model, as I spent more to get Frigidaire, and the sent the wrong danged part. But the bedroom is cool.
No, I guess it was too gratifying. One person said, “So how’s Dad?” I said, “Forget about 'Dad. Do you see him here? Is he wearing an ‘I’m your Dad now’ shirt? No, no he’s not. Let’s fire him.”
EVERY town needs small buses!
Red, I’m sending kindly thoughts to dear Nelson.
Shoe, forgot to say before: Happy Cake-aversary!
I’m so sorry. What a difficult time. I wish the family peace and solace.
It;s hard not to be wonderful to such a selfless person!
Up from naptime. A good nap, despite Spot falling asleep on my ankles, and resulting in me not feeling my feet for 20 minutes afterwards. Having an Old Fashioned, bacon cheeseburger, fries, and corn on the cob with spicy Old Bay seasoning.
< Dog serves papers for defamation of character suit >
HAPPY DOPERVERSARY SHOE!!!
Reference that. and screenshot, just in case.
Well, there are more than a few empty airplane bottles in the parking lot. But yeah. Boxline cages are red/white/blue/yellow/green and there’s top/middle bottom.
Yeah, I usually dont check my bp at home but it was 180/100. At urgent care, its always normal.
So I went in the ambulence.
They gave me a pill for wobbliness.
Then my first catscan. They found no cats.
When it got down to 147/85 they released me. 3 hours in total
I will see my dr about possibly upping my amlodipine to 10. Its 5 now.
{{{herald}}} Even when it’s expected, such a loss hits hard. Best to you and yours.
It’s 7:30 at sea and it rained overnight, so the jeans I hung over our balcony chairs got wet. Does that count as washing? If it dries out today, I’ll put them back out.
Today’s adventure is a ride on The Golden Train - A Rauma Railway Adventure. We’re due in port at 11 and the excursion departs at 1230. Till then, we’ve got plenty of time to dress and get brunch (depending on when we get up. FCD is still sleeping.
Not sure what else the day holds - surely excitement and adventure. So, Happy Tuesday!
Howdy all. Am lounging in the Virgin Atlantic lounge at Heathrow, sometimes paying extra for 1st class is worth it, I have 2.5 hours to keep my feet propped up and have waiters bring me drinks. Pilot, you know what you are talking about. Bought a book and a couple of papers to keep me awake on the 8 Hour flight to NYC, so a relaxing day is in order, albeit a lot of it at 38,000 feet high.
FCM, hope the rains hold off and you have a great train trip.
(((Herald)))
Feel better soon copprrtone
JtC, protest loud and strong
Nellie, shoe, you two get to feeling better soon.
And back to practicing hedonism for a couple more hours. Take care all.
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 20c/68f with a predicted high of 24c/75f and cloudy. Weather app says “Overcast and fucking dreary. Probably a fucking good day for staying in bed.” I would, but I have to irk…
Happy Doperversary, shoe!
Taters glad to hear the puppers are doing better but sorry to hear it was such a spendy exercise
Yanker well done on living up to your name!
That would be a concern indeed - has she got over her dizziness now? Perhaps she’s worried about having episodes of something like that while she’s away from familiar surroundings?
Oooh…I’ve been there too!
We usually only have a couple of weeks for each trip so our previous US ones have involved picking the area we want to be in, working out how much there is to visit (usually based on nationa/state parks) and planning from there. That usually means we only have one night in any hotels, unless the park is big enough that it needs two days to just complete the circular drive without doing any of that hiking nonsense Yeah, we are not hikers
I’m glad you are at least able to get some meds into her, but it must be a big worry for you. I hope the vet can come up with a better solution for you and Bailey.
You’re welcome
Fresh air and exercise will do that to you! Sounds like the cruise has plenty to keep you entertained, even if the song-and-dance show wasn’t as good as it could have been.
Glad you got home safely, I’m sure the lawn will survive a bit longer without mowage, at least until the temps are somewhere more sensible for such activities.
Poor Nelson, and poor you having to worry about him. I hope he picks up again soon. And good luck with the apartment hunting.
I just want rid of her - if she doesn’t graduate next week, she’ll be hassling me until the next round of graduation ceremonies in December!
You’ve walked a lot of protests already, perhaps you could allow yourself a break for this one and make friends with the neighbours this time?
Aww..how lovely for you! It just goes to show how many people must have had a tough time with their own families and need that little bit of positivity from someone else who would just accept them for who they are.
Herald I’m sorry for LadySCAdian’s loss, and yours too. I hope she finds peace now that it’s over.
Virgin’s clubhouses are a pretty good way to pass the time while waiting for your flight. We are snobby lounge-hoppers when we fly, especially from Heathrow. Favourite lounge by far is Cathay Pacific, although the American Airlines lounge does a fabulous eggs benny for breakfast
Yesterday was stupidly hot here, I’m glad I was at home so we could have the windows open all day but it was still far too hot to be comfortable anywhere. The cats were melted puddles of fur and really weren’t interested in anything at all, although Cherry had her eye on a sky raisin at one point, then decided it was obviously far too much effort to try catching it.
I have irk today but I’m at home again so that’s good. My team leader is off with a migraine so we are unsupervised today. I have stuff to do but little inclination to do it, might go and put the laundry on instead.
