(Old) Heading home to the MMP

We’re docked in Andalsnes waiting to gather in the theater for our excursion. There are train tracks right here, so it doesn’t look like we need to be bussed anywhere. FCD is taking his cane - walking is becoming more of a challenge for him. I’m worried… he’ll be seeing the doc shortly after we get home.

Looks like the rain should stop, so maybe there will be non-soggy photo ops. More when we return.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 89 and raon/tstorms/apocalypse. On the plus side it should be sunny and nice for The Fourth. Today is laundry day. I am beside myself with glee. I yanked ribs, chikin boobs and laigs outta da freezer last night. We shall crank up the smoker on Thursday. The ribs and laigs are for Firday’s feast. The boobs will become chikin enchiladas next Moanday. The smoked chikin is so good in enchiladas! Outside of laundry we will be our RDOS selves as this is a good day to be inside and dry. Sup will be leftover lasagna with sallit and cheesey garlic bread.

Herald so sorry about Lady Herald’s father.

Coppertone glad your blood pressure is down. Hopefully uppin’ the med will help.

MOOOOOOM have fun on the choo choo!

MetalMouse I am sure you’re in the air now, but safe trip home!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Doing some more online apartment hunting today, but that’s the only thing written in stone.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Good morning.

It’s 68°F and sunny outside. We are expecting abundant sunshine again, with a forecasted high of 89°F. So, it’ll be hot again. Too hot. It was uncomfortable yesterday, especially upstairs. I’ll have to set up the AC in the bedroom today.

Nellie, love the t-shirt and the reactions!

Welcome home, VanGo!

Safe travels home, Metal Mouse!

Oopsie, I hope the vet can find a solution for Bailey. She looks very sweet. Sending her gentle skritches and hugs to you.

I’m also sending gentle skritches to Nelson. Poor pup. I hope he’s feeling better soonest.

Herald, I’m so sorry about your father-in-law.

JtC, I admire your determination to be at all the protests. There is nothing wrong with missing one, however. Only you know what will work for you.

I did manage to knock out some pruning yesterday morning. I have a lot more to complete, but my yard waste bin was full —stuffed full —and it was becoming very uncomfortable out there in the sun.

After pruning, I gave everything a good drink, especially items in pots or containers. The hydrangeas also received a good drink, after all, water is in their name.

I think I’ll take care of household chores today. I should probably also ensure my bedroom closet is presentable, as it is the attic access, and the roof company arrives on Thursday for an estimate. I’m not looking forward to that at all, but I need to get the roof done, and I’ll have to find a way to do it. It’s not like my closet is a mess; it’s not really. However, I’m storing some items in there, and I need to move them out.

I have no plans for the 4th. I’ll probably have to drug up Maisie, which is so unfair to her, but she’ll be a mess if I don’t. I was looking for dog-friendly VRBOs with fenced yards, but while I found some that were dog-friendly, none of those available had fences. Maisie will not potty while on a leash.

I need to scrape the coffee out of my last Keurig pod. I’m saving the grounds to spread around some of my plants because the slugs are starting to get busy.

I hope you all have a good day!

Laundry day; need I say more.

Went down and raised a little hell about this job in the apartment not being finished. C’mon, it’s ten minute’s work for cripes sake. We have company coming on Thursday and the place looks like a homeless camp.

Besides eggshells and coffee grounds, I’m also getting them drunk every night and plan to pick up a roll of copper tape to put around the pots when next I’m in town. So far, I’ve only lost one plant.

This really is a much different world than the one I was used to!

I always felt so sorry for the dogs in AZ, every year some of them would run away and get lost in their fear of the fireworks.

The train ride was a good time - the mountains here are impressive and I bet it’s really beautiful when it’s sunny. At least the rain held off.

Tonight’s show is Celtic song and dance. After that is chillage.

i hope nelson and bailey feel better. it is so upsetting when our fur buddies are not doing well.

so far so good eye wise. i’m doing well with 2 focal points.

not many bears on the bear cam. lots and lots of salmon, the bears are staying out of camera range. over 30 bears have been happily eating away from the falls area.

should be interesting in philly. city workers are on strike add in the 4th of july stuff and i may just bunker down. the worst is no trash pickup.

Just post a “Welcome to Hooverville” sign.

The Washington Post’s weather team shared that at one point yesterday DC had the highest humidity of any large city in the country. We…win? Today’s thunderstorms just started, and I’m actually rooting for them – even though it will mean not only driving home in a storm, but also then trying to get a very unhappy 40-lb dog into the car during a storm. I have a feeling I’ll need to leave the passenger door open and carry her from the house; I can only hope for four brief rain reprieves (getting into the car, into the vet’s, back into the car, then back into the house). :crossed_fingers: That’s how ridiculous the humidity has been.

Every now and then I have a day when, for no apparent reason, my eyes are a little sore and watery. Today is one of those days. It’s always accompanied by feeling slightly stuffy/sinus-y; I think the watery eyes set off the nose stuff. I’m feeling just “meh” enough that I wish I could spend all day on the couch in my jammies watching prospective Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders fail to make the team. Have I mentioned “meh”?

I still have no plans on the 4th, but now I have plans on the 5th: last night, WifeBFF invited me to join them + her “niece” and family on Saturday evening to celebrate both the holiday and the niece’s youngest turning five. I’ve known the niece since she was 16 and moved in with them to finish high school here after her mom relocated to FL, and I always like seeing her, her hubby, and their kids. They live about 50 miles away, so I don’t see them often; it’ll be nice.

It’s been almost 3 weeks since I’ve assembled a Lego set of any decent size (IOW, not counting the Tribute to Jane Austen’s Books that took ~30 min last week), and I’m starting to experience withdrawal…so, I ordered a new one. The Keith Haring Dancing Figures set had been backordered for a while, but is available now. This is another one that I plan to display at work: some of my younger co-workers may have no idea what they are, but most folks my age will recognize them.

Oh, no…I’m so sorry. :people_hugging:

I was loading 300 bottom red today. Sot of. I was on the sort table, then loading Bottom Yellow for 15min. I got to start on Bottom Red at 0700. Did I mention it was an 800 piece set? And there was no one loading the entire time? And they were shutting the cages off at 0745? So mostly I had to toss everything in the package cars. I finished one car by myself, another loader did the 3rd, and I helped the driver do the middle one. Which he shouldn’t have had to do. So I’m making a TPTB voodoo to get back at them. Anyways, Spot stabbed my hand for being late.
I currently have no plans for the Fourth, except maybe a fifth.

I usually stay at the same hotel for a week. That way I have time to find the local dive bars.

“Let us build the nations capital in a literal swamp” - The Foundin Fathers

I was hoping a good night’s sleep would help the back pain, but nope. I can’t stand upright and walk without making terrible faces. I look like the evil hag in Snow White, only with a full set of teeth. The pharmacy texted me last night that the Celebrex was ready, but it was after the buses stop running, so I’m psyching myself up to go. I’ll take the bus.

The buses here don’t run after 7 PM, which is sad. A few years ago, a waitress walking home from work was assaulted about a block from my apartment. Luckily she heard the guy coming behind her and was able to jab him in the thigh with a ballpoint pen. It wouldn’t have happened if she’d been able to take a bus home.

Anyway, that’s my only plan for today. It’s too hot to leave the apt. otherwise.

Sending healing vibes to Nelson and Bailey, each such a sweet pup. Please keep us updated. You know how we love our Mumper dogs. {{{{{{Nelson}}}}} {{{{{Bailey}}}}}.

Mooooom, glad you enjoyed the train ride. Were you in an observation car so you could view the majestic peaks without craning your neck?

I hope MetalMouse can join us tomorrow. I have a train question for him.

Oopsie, that looks like a fun Lego project. It made me smile.

In Wyoming, that was called dating.

nelie - there was no observation car. All were the same but we could still see tons. Even with the cloud cover, lots was still visible. Fascinating ride.

When we got back, we decided to get a burger and dog for supper because we missed lunch and it was still over an hour till the buffet opened. We shan’t make that mistake again. Very mediocre, tho the fries were good.

Since it’s Canada day, they served poutine, but we missed it because of the aforementioned burger and dog. Oh well, another time, I guess. The show tonight was a Celtic group, but not at all what I expected. The singer was almost impossible to understand, not because of her accent (she didn’t really have one) but because she liked to belt out and do everything in her own “style.” Even the songs I knew were unrecognizable. It’s as if she was trying to modernize all the traditional old songs, and her take was quite meh. But FCD liked it.

Anyway, we’re back in our room for evening chillage.

Tomorrow, we’re going to Trondheim and our tour meets at 8 - YOIKS!! So we’re looking at a quick breakfast before we go. At least we’ll be back here for lunch.

And on the 4th, we’ll be in Hommingsvag taking a bus to the North Cape. No fireworks in the forecast. And we just pulled away from the pier. Onward!!

Boo, the baskets are here and thank you so much!

I’ve always liked baskets, mine got left in the move because hubs thought they were just things I put stuff in, not that I actually liked them. Sometimes I can’t understand what he’s thinking and other times I think that he just doesn’t think at all.

I hate to ask for this but if you have any prayers or good wishes my cat Atilla needs them. He is eighteen and feeling poorly. Tonight he will spend the night at the vet’s place. Tomorrow he will have some special scans. It’s expensive but my baby is worth it. I have known him since the day he was born, with his eyes squeezed shut. The office gave me the option of keeping him tonight or bringing him in early tomorrow. The benefit of the overnight stay is that the staff will administer a preliminry sedative. I know the cat loves me but like many others it’s hard to give him meds.

I really hope we can see our pets in the next life.

Yay!

Gentle skritches to Atilla and hugs to you, baker.

Nelson is scratching less, but still doing a lot of licking. His hind quarters, where he had pulled a little fur out, are improving. His undercarriage is still pink, but at least it’s not red.

I added a couple of apartments to the list for Sis to check out today, packed another box of donations to SmartArt and packed up yet another for moving. It’s beginning to look like everything I own is in boxes and I haven’t even started in the kitchen (the last room, of course).

Well, back in the US of A. At a Hampton Inn near JFK after an 8 hour flight and navigating JFK airport, which can be .. interesting. At least my bags made it and I stayed awake for the entire flight. Problem is with the time change, I’ve been awake for 16 hours straight and it is only 7pm. Will try to keep my eyes open for a couple more hours but we’ll see.

I have looked at all the messages but brain is on emergency power so no replies this time. If everything goes as planned I’ll be back home about 5 pm tomorrow. Will let you know.

I can’t stay long. My computer is on its last legs. I just wanted to drop in and say hi.

{{{{herald and Wife}}}}

Hugs to both of you.

Hugs for Atilla, definitely!

Welcome almost home!!!

Ok, big news here. About 30 minutes ago I accepted a job offer for a virtual school. It’s older kids and sounds like something that I’m going to like. Interestingly enough, I’ve seen that most virtual jobs don’t pay very well, but this will be my highest salary so far as a teacher.

I begin right about the beginning of next month. We shall see how it all goes!
