boofae - the straggling passengers made it back just barely. No one was in line for our pier space, but I expect the dock hands wanted to get done and go home.
Just saw a presentation about Vikings traveling westward, and now there’s to be one about the next 3 port stops. The theater is packed! And it begins…
Monday, god willing and the creek don’t rise. MD/DDS appt is for 10:45 at Village Pointe, so noonish. Everything with butter and sour cream, right?
This makes me happy too!
More happy for me! Can’t wait to hear which doggie chooses you.
Off to make #1, once I unceremoniously nudge a purring Siamese off my lap to go make it, but then she thinks everything her human does is unceremonious.
Went to an interview yesterday. There were others there.
When I got to the table, there was a cup of water and a biscuit. Once I said I took bus’s and couldn’t work nights we were done.
The biscuit wasn’t as amazing as people rave about.
My dr upped my amlodipine to 10mg. I see her in 2 weeks. Not going to be easy to cut down on chips.
I’ve always loved chips.
My Atilla got his scan and tests yesterday. I will talk with the vet on Tuesday. The office is only part time as the guy whom my pets have seen for so long is not well and retiring, and the vet filling in is part time, every other day. But Tuesday she will have the report and will be able to discuss them with me.
I had a pin made with ‘I Toxic Waste’ on it at a Science Fiction convention back in the ‘80s. Every so often, I discover my jar o’ pins. I wonder if anyone today would ‘get’ why ‘Surf Nicaragua’ was so funny.
Today, I have officially joined the RDOS club. (Is there an initiation or something?)
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. About the only thing that I need to leave the house for is more packing tape, but I can get that down the street at DG.
they moved up my left eye to the 8th. quite the scramble to get a pick up person. lots of vacations going on. thankfully my neighbour is available.
a bit of family time tomorrow. then hiding out at the building. the main fireworks for philly are across the street. from my flat i see the fireworks in new jersey, and a bit in the northeast. to see the ones across the street, i either have it on tv or go to that side of the building.
they block off the parkway now for security. there is one entrance. a bit frustrating for those of us who live here.
No, you’ll find yourself naturally shaking your cane at teenagers and shrieking “Get off my lawn!” You may also use your RDOS superpowers at restaurants to proclaim loudly and frequently, “What are they thinking? This portion is too big/this food is too sweet/this food is too fatty/when I was a child, a Coke cost 10 cents!”
red - of course there’s no initiation. That would be too much like work! So just pick out a comfy chair and assume a comfy position. And there you are!
The chill of the North is becoming more apparent. I wish I’d packed gloves. But I do have pockets.
The maintenance guy finally came back and glued down the base molding. Apparently the sub-basement has been flooded all week, so he’s been busy.
The wife’s niece and grand-niece are coming over today. I’ve vacuumed so we don’t look like we’re living in filth. We were planning on going out for lunch, but the wife’s dizzies are back so it’s not looking promising. Her MRI is scheduled for Saturday. If that’s clear, then I’m guessing an ENT appointment is next.
The apartment next to ours has been vacant for probably two years. Management decided to turn it into a temporary living space for new residents, so now there are people in there for an indeterminate time. Unfortunately, staff people tend to use these rooms as hangouts when they’re not busy, so we hear the stairwell door banging shut all day long when the apartment is empty.
Hot today, with more to come. Rain is predicted for Saturday, which may cool things down a bit.
I scrounged up the link for the Mumper recipe blog, but I don’t find a recipe for lemon ice box pie. Could I pretty please have the recipe? No hurry - don’t want you to endanger your RDOS cred.
You don’t want to know what I read. Hope Caroline’s right and you find your match.
Oof. And you already have such a long commute. Hope everything’s fixed soon and stays that way.
Very impressive that you’re that organized, even at that early hour. Is Kroger even open that early, if you decided to go to the store?
When I was a kid, I loved the booms. I still do, but I want them limited to one night. Maximum, It hurts so many people and animals. I hope the meds keep her calm.
That’s a long wait. I hope Atilla’s able to rest comfortably at home with you until then.
I think you have to take a nap after lunch. Preferably with a crocheted blanket. Extra credit if it’s purple.

If that’s clear, then I’m guessing an ENT appointment is next.
[/quote] Good luck to her. Dizzies are no fun. Seems both my mom and I have a tendency to getting them, but for no good reason. Fortunately usually doesn’t last too long.
Went to back to work today for a two day work week. I thought today was my boss’s last working day before vacation, but she’s working part of next week as well. So nothing critical today, just working through my task list.
Was supposed to cool down, but it seems that the slightly lower temperature is coming with higher humidity. Not my idea of better weather. We are no longer under a heat warning, as tonight’s low temperature will be 18°C / 64.4°F. I’ll take it.
So today I was loading Middle White on the 200 Boxline. It was also retirement day for one of the FT sups. There was cake. I did my Senior Day shopping. Now I’ve breakfasted and am having a Paloma for a pre nap cocktail.
The Cajun Burger. Because the best place to find a burger inspired by displaced French setters in North America is England.
I was dating a girl, then I found out she made banners for the local Communist Party. It was a huge red flag.
AARP sends you a Matlock VHS box set as a welcome gift.
Our company is now not gonna show until around 5:30. I think I’ll make a frittata, since I have all the ingredients: eggs, sage sausage, taters, onions, hatch peppers and cheese.
Well, it has been 7 hours since my morning post and I have accomplished…bupkis. Which is actually not true, I’ve been to the bank to put some excess cash back in my account (nobody uses cash these days in Europe it seems) and dropped off some mail that got delivered to me by accident and hung up clothes from my luggage…so yeah, bupkis. Thinking about going to the gym but really not feeling ready for it, have been consuming food pretty steadily since I got home so need to get back in the groove, but maybe the weekend… Am catching up with my You Tube watching, but it’ll take a little while. Otherwise just trying to stay cool (it’s 88F outside).
Taters, hope the roof cost wasn’t too bad. And extra scritches to Maisie.
Hippie, I’m all of 31 days older than you (20 April 1953).
FCM, enjoy the Viking presentations, and remember the first rule: Pillage, and then burn…
Cupcakes, all the best for Atilla.
red, welcome to the club. Your initiation is to do nothing of consequence for 24 hours…or the remainder of your life, depending on how the mood take you…
Cookie, best wishes to Wife.
Dicey, Kroger opens at 6am, I’ll probably wait until 7-8am to go so they can get the last-minute stocking done; Fridays are the busiest because they offer a 4x points deal for gas discounts on anything bought on Friday (provided you have a membership card). And it’s not a matter of being organized, I simply would forget half the stuff I need without a list and would have to go back…probably twice.
And now to get back to major league slothing…need to catch up with the “Girl With the Dogs” you tube channel for a major jolt of cute.
I have to do a Big Unpleasant Adulty Task today, and I reeeeeeally don’t wanna.
S.M. knows I have this looming, and that I wanted to use a day off to psych myself up, and then likely decompress.
Pointed out a coupla days ago that this week’s schedule had zero days off for me.
I was like, “…are you mad at me? Wait, this gets me out of doing Task! Thanks!”
… she changed the schedule.
Also, tomorrow is gonna be horrible, Long Night plus big holiday, so it’s all hands on deck, and we’re gonna be absolutely slammed.
So of course I’m mired in anxiety and not doing good self-care. Barely eating.
At least Monkey is being snuggly. Good emotional support cat, that one.
Ya gotta take care of yourself. Ain’t nobody gonna love your Monks like you do and you can’t take care of him if you are sick.
I’m so sorry you are having such a hard time of it. I hope it gets better soon.
To everyone, I’ve been reading and do care, but I’m pretty upset myself now so am keeping my hands off the keyboard.
Today was a busy one, Hubs pulled the first pork butt out of the smoker and put the second one in. It will be ready tomorrow. Then he went off to get his car serviced and I went to Logan and got my final eye check.
I was so excited that I drove thru Tudor’s fer a biskit and gravy, then brought it home and ate while shopping for glasses online.
I saw Walking Lady (Tara for those who will remember) and remembered that she had said she’d never had pulled pork before, so I gave her a container and told her how to heat it and serve it. We don’t sauce our pulled pork in batches because everyone has their own opinion as to what makes the right amount of sloppiness.
I got a call that my prescriptions were ready at Kroger and only recognized that it might be best to get it taken care of before the long weekend let me forget and didn’t think about the part that Kroger’s is just the sort of place that everyone will flock to for BBQ supplies. There were no carts in the carrels, no carts in the store and customers stalking other customers to their cars to take their carts as soon as they were empty.
On my way home I went by the plant nursery and bought a big pot of petunias on sale for half off and then stopped at the produce store for tomatoes and onions. We aren’t meeting tonight so everyone can get ready for tomorrow, but I always try to buy what I need first. I think it is rude to ask Jarrad to open the cash register after the store is closed, but he always seems happy to do it for other folks so I don’t know.
I do know that I can hear the planning committee* heading to Harry’s place, so I should probably mosey over there as well.
*a bunch of old guys on their riding lawnmowers converging on Harry’s front porch.
