(Old) Here It Is! The MMP

Shiso was spayed on Monday, collected and brought home on Tuesday, careful by active Wednesday to Sunday, and is now pouncing, though still being careful. We are breaking up any play that looks too much like practice eviceration and lifting her up and down on furniture, but despite being a tiny handful, she managed the carpeted stairs when we let her out of the bedroom yesterday. Still keeping an eye on her, but she seems pretty okay. Hoping the same for Kasya kitty.

Evening all. Mickey D’s provided the evening repast, the weight machine at the gym says I gained a pound in the last week, so only a Big Mac tonight (with a large order of fries of course…). All digested and I’m ready for whatever the night brings, probably some tackleball and some internettin’. 35F outside so no reason to go outside until tomorrow and even then that is problematical.

Cookie, my bank called me this morning, I have a substantial savings account with them, which only earns (literally) pennies of interest, so they suggested some investments. I do most of my investing with Edward Jones, but a little diversification never hurts so I may give them a visit.

FCM, good idea on the fan.

Herald, haven’t seen Sunny for awhile, perhaps life got ahold of her and won’t let go.

Never been a fan of chili, but interesting to see all the different modes to make it reflected here. And the question of beans in chili is second only to ‘ketchup on a hot dog’ in culinary debate circles (IMHO).

Hope you’re feeling better, FCM.

Pavo great news so far for your wife, hopefully the second report is more good news.

VanGo, also not a pizza-eater, but wonder if any frozen variety is worth the investement?

Happy skiing, Sensei!!

Nettie, happy that Kasya is home, googled some of the ‘kitten recovery suits’ and I wouldn’t be amused either. But whatever is best for her. And similar happiness for you Lily and Shiso.

And heading toward 8pm and have 5 You Tubes lined up, so off I go. Catch y’all on 2sDay.

I’m at my lowest weight since 1987-ish. 25# down in a year on Mounjaro, and gee, isn’t it great to be off tamoxifen and have a prayer of diet and exercise making a difference?

Congratulations! Many of them, what an achievement! :tada:

??? When our cats went in for their surgery we didn’t get any sort of adornments when we picked them up afterward.

And with seven cats in the house, there was no way they would avoid activity.

She absolutely refuses to wear the suit, and turns out to be a bit of an escape artist on the subject. We’re just going to have to keep an eye on the incision, and the laser pointer stays in the drawer for at least a few days. She’s currently apparently at normal levels of awake, her appetite was fine at supper, and the incision doesn’t seem to be bothering her as far as such things as hopping up on the bed. She’s prowling around the living room as normal.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 7c/45f with a predicted high of 9c/48f and showers. Weather app says “Hey, rain! How about you get fucked?” It’s cloudy and damp out there, but at least the rain’s washed all the snow away.

That’s an awful situation for both of you, I would be heartbroken too, she sounds like far too nice a person to have something that rotten in her life. Does she have a good divorce lawyer to make sure she gets a fair settlement?

We are a long way from easter, but my local supermarket has displays of hot cross buns in their foyer. I can’t even look at them! I promised myself I would buy one 4-pack of them, but not until easter week.

Such lovely problems to have  None of our cats are lap cats, which I think ‘im indoors is a bit disappointed about. Cherry sleeps on the bed with us, and Blossom will get on the sofa for fuss but only in between us, never actually on a lap. And Muffin, well, she’s Miffin!

Mine has beef mince, onions, tomatoes, kidney beans, baked beans, and ‘im indoors likes a bit of sweetcorn in it too. I would make it with peppers for myself, he’s less keen on them.

Same situation here….we have allocated most of our students to modules, but there are some incoming exchange/study abroad students who still need extra credits, and we have a Liberal Arts programme that produces a lot of module changes. We have a few new teaching staff too, they need a lesson in what to do with various bits of Canvas. We hates it, we do! Great news on your wife’s heart stuff

I’m happy to hear that she survived the experience, and so did you! Some cats seem to really like the recovery suits, I think they’re a much better idea than the cone collars and make life much easier all round.

Awww…sounds like she’s recovering well too. Looking forward to more pics, they are such a cute pair.

I had an uneventful irk day yesterday, logged off bang on time and went to the gym to burn some calories. Came home and fed the cats, then gathered up rubbish and hauled the biiiiiig bin out to the kerb ready for collection. Dinner was snausages, mash and veg (peas and carrots) with gravy (I also added a bit of wholegrain mustard to the gravy, ‘cos why not?).

Today is another work from home day, I was up at my usual time, fed the cats and cleaned litter trays, then made myself some breakfast. I have a meeting with one of my minions this morning, and then we have our all-staff meeting this afternoon. There are two things on the agenda there, one is space utilisation and some changes, and the other is our team manager role. Speculation is rife that we will be merged with another team and possibly combining office space so we’ll have to wait and see on that one.

I have to make campus food for the rest of the week, not quite sure what else I will do. I may go to the gym depending on time, or I could do a Rockfit class at home. Both of the classes that are available for January look good to me, so that might be what I do later. For now, I need more tea!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 31 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 59 and sunny. It’s laundry day and I can hardly contain myself. I am also expectin’ a med delivery via FedYecch. I wish I could get it delivered another way, but alas I must rely on FedYecch. There will be RDOS inactivities as is our wont. Sup will be grilled chikin strips, peas ‘n carrots, mac and cheese, and rolls. It was goin’ to be chili, but I got a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for grilled chikin strips.

Glad the various kittehs are in recovery and bein’, well, kittehs.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

I liked this sequence:

Well, that was in interesting night. I took the generic nyquil and it knocked me out pretty fast. Unfortunately, the gastrointestinal distress that started a couple of days ago, hit me with a vengeance, getting me up 3 times during the night. I did half expect it and planned accordingly, and thanks to the nyquil, I was able to fall back to sleep. Bottom line, I survived the night and I should be OK to tend to the grandspawn this evening.

I may or may not do a second coat of paint on the vent covers - it depends on how I feel later. I don’t have to leave till about 3:30 to meet Roxy’s bus at 4. Then I’ll need to keep them alive, feed them supper, and get them to bed, which is always an adventure. I wish there was a way for them to come here, but that would mean, first, Trevor would be crated for close to 12 hours - not good - or I’d have to bring Trevor here - definitely not good - then I’d have to get them ready for school in the morning so SIL could pick them up. Nope.

The day will develop as it does and I’ll just go with the flow. Onward!

Happy Tuesday!

Morning all. Up at 7am and have had my big bowl of Cereal to break my fast, so things are off to a good start…as long as I don’t look at the thermostat, it’s 34F out but due to get to the mid-50’s later. Should be dry today but rain is expected tomorrow. Nothing much on the schedule, I may take that phone call from the bank to heart and see about putting some of my savings in an account that will get a better return (My savings account earned a munificent $4.81 interest for all of 2025). Otherwise some gym time and slothful activities will keep the day moving along.

lily, congrats on the weight loss, I’m still staying close to 200lbs and hopefully it is in fairly decent shape these days. Good luck!

Nettie, cats are rather clever in getting out of things they don’t like, aren’t they? Think she should be ok.

boo fae, don’t think I’ve ever had a Hot Cross bun, but will watch my stores around Easter and then watch my calories… Happy meetings and exercising!

Happy laundry day, swampy. I am coming close to dishwasher day, but still have a space or two I can jam some more dishes in so probably tomorrow.

FCM, going with the flow could be my motto for life. Have a good one.

And now into the morning internettin’. Take care all.

Showered and dressed. I tidied the kitchen and loaded what dirties I had into the dishwasher - there wasn’t much since we haven’t been eating much. Maybe I can run a load tomorrow.

I need to make an appt with my eye doc and I need to figure out my account at Princess Cruises (still) - my old account had my military info, the replacement one doesn’t. It means $250 in on-board credits, so, yeah, I will get that straightened out. Cruise is still a year away, but no sense in leaving it till the last minute.

And it’s that time of year to get Sirius to not raise our rate. We’re currently paying about $6/month. I got an email saying it’ll go up to about $25/month. That’s a big nope. But they’re usually good about “finding” a better rate. And fortunately, it can all be done via chat, so I don’t have to struggle with the call center accents.

Oh, the thrills and excitement that await me!!!

Mrs Magill has two more years of Tamoxifen left. She is counting the days until she can be perma-headache free.

32ºF this morning. Chloé and I did our usual walk, and she got to see her friend, Roxie. Both pups were excited. We met Roxie and her owner on the darkest part of the trail, so we were very wary of this golden coming for us until I heard her name called (she’s well trained and she stopped), and Chloé smelt her. I said, “Chloé, it’s your friend, Roxie,” so as to identify us in the dark, then both dogs jumped around each other for a bit before we went our separate ways. I usually don’t walk with a light source (other than a flashlight to pick up after Chloé), but my jacket is high visibility yellow, and I keep one eye shut around streetlights to preserve my night vision.

Spike goes back to school today, leaving Squeaky as an only child - the way he likes it.

Friday night, I went to my friend’s house to play Mansions of Madness. I’ve played by myself a couple of times, but never got close to beating the easiest scenario until now. More investigators make a huge difference in that game. I enjoy game night, but I need to get off my lazy duff and start prepping for the next D&D session. They want to go to an area that may be a bit over their level. I don’t want to kill them, but I don’t want to nerf things either. I probably shouldn’t worry, so far in every session the managed to find a way to either avoid the threat or neutralize it before it can be deployed. If they had only taken that short rest, the last game would have turned out very differently.

Right - off to the salt mines.

Hot cross buns and are a major part of the Easter season for me. Every supermarket in the area – especially those with in-store bakeries – has them. Paczki are another Eastertime treat here; store displays have increased (in both quantity and varieties) steadily over the last few years.

Happy Tuesday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and putting off KP again until a small pupper decides to leave my lap.

Sis will be here today with a couple of floor lamps for me, then make a grocery run. Other than that, it will be an RDOS day.

susan, the pictures are beyond cute.

jtc, i have read the stephanie plum series. i got a good portion of a temp office hooked on them. i would have them at the reception desk. it was one of the few offices where the receptionist had no trouble getting breaks. i did meet the author a few times and got books signed.

seanette, i hope wee kasya heals well and easily.

scareyfaerie, there is a tiki cat can that has half an egg in it. a very wee boiled egg half. koritza will just ignore the thing. lager will eat everything else, then much later go back and eat it. if it is well hidden in the rest of the can he may not notice it. so funny when i give him the carrots from chicken soup. he is so confused. but he will eat them.

nelliebly, that is quite the time your daughter is having. this too shall pass, is a good mantra for now. it is difficult to believe there is light in the dark time, and that the darkness is not her doing. sending light and positive vibes her way.

my first full week in about a month, day 2 and i’m shot of this. also 2 condo meetings this week. one will be taking down the more christmas stuff and turning it more winter in the lobby.

Mornin’ all.

It’s 47F and foggy outside. The forecast calls for dense morning fog, some sunny patches, afternoon clouds, and a daytime high of 55F.

FCM, I hope you start feeling much better. Sounds like a rough night.

Nellie, OJ does sometimes bother me, as does too much tomato sauce. Coffee doesn’t bother me much, but I drink it black and limit myself to two or three cups in the morning. I hope your daughter finds a good attorney. Sounds like she’s going to need one. More hugs to both of you.

lily, congrats on the weight loss! It sounds like those kitties are really doing well.

JtC, I’m glad your husband is home and doing better.

I have some adulting to do today, and I’ll probably dust and roll-suck, too. That’s about all that’s happening around here, but I’m thinking a ride on the Foothills trail this weekend should be nice. It’s supposed to be sunny and not too cold.

Alrighty, time to finish that coffee so I can put my mug in the dishwasher with the rest of the dishes.

I got out of the market when Trump was elected the first time. We don’t need any additional income and it’s unlikely that we will spend what we have. Also, I don’t need the stress of see-sawing markets. We missed the big run-ups, but are okay with that.

Mashed up an avocado with some diced tomato, lemon olive oil and some salt and shoveled it onto a pumpernickel bagel. Topped with some bits of bacon. I’ve gotten really good at picking out decent avocados.

Another lazy day for the Slow Horses. Temps near 40F and we have no plans. I may try out the acrylic painting class this afternoon.

Bad dreams all night. I’m sure it’s the news that’s causing the anxiety. Seems like we just keep falling deeper into the abyss.

lily congrats on the weight loss. I’m down 18 pounds since Feb 2025 via compounded GLP first, then Zepbound. Still have more to lose, but I’m down a size in riding pants.

Nellie make sure daughter gets a shark lawyer and takes STBX to the cleaners. My ex left me for another woman and soon after marrying her, lost the house, his job, and declared bankruptcy.
