(Old) Here It Is! The MMP

That’s a very impressive amount of fairly complicated tasks to complete pre-caffeine.

I agree with this and the two glug advice. That’s what my pan takes.

Good luck with your procedure, I do hope it is painless.

This is just sickening. This is not what America should be.

I sure do hope you start feeling better soon, back issues are horrible. Dang about the eye surgery :frowning:

Cat owners respond instantly to the hork hork sound.

So, no snow today. Probably no snow tomorrow. We did get some rain though, I like looking at that as well.

Nothing much happened here. I mopped the kitchen floor after getting the bread in the oven instead of before. Some days I’m smarter than others. I’m very happy with the crust and the crumb is excellent, it just doesn’t taste perfect enough for me. James says his fellow inmates are not getting tired of toast and jam so it isn’t getting wasted.

I thought that after all of Hub’s hospital visits and fever and all that all of the bedding should be washed and just kept ruining Jolene’s day. First I stripped the bed down to the mattress and tossed that in the washer while closing the door! When I got the first layer dry, I left the door open and then kept pitching her as I added other layers.

I totally screwed up the border on my current piece. My fault, I didn’t read the very clear instructions before powering on. So, I got to spend almost two hours frogging it which isn’t my favorite thing to do.

metal mouse its just Reddit. I ruthlessly curated my feeds so I get cat pics, needlepoint and other textile arts posts and WV posts. People aren’t supposed to make begging posts but the mods tend to look the other way when it is post cards to classrooms.

Thank you! Since I insist on being knocked out, it should merely be uncomfortable afterward.

Sis took me to the doctor for a followup today. I don’t have to go back until April! She also did my grocery shopping, so I’m well stocked on food, TP, dog food and puppy treats. I did three loads of laundry today (the towels just finished) so I have clothes (and I wore real ones, including a bra today!) and towels.

Excellent!

I like Simichrome. It’s a mildly abrasive metal polish, and it’s good for most metals.

I’ve been valiantly trying to remember something about web-comics, It;s gone. Gah.

Evening all. Calories sweated and Ham-n-Cheesers assimilated, so there is balance in the universe. DId get the dishwasher run and all the items are put away, so I accomplished that much at least. Supposed to get down to 21F tonight so no rush to get anywhere tomorrow.

Nettie, Herald, thanks for the validation and for the suggestions, I’ll look into them.

FCM, glad you have a good money guy. I see my Edward Jones guy about once a year, he understands what I want in investments and so far hasn’t steered me wrong.

Swampy, our bad weather (freezing rain) is due Firday night, we’ll see if it shows up. And having an attached garage is one of the best things about this place.

JtC, thanks for the advice, I don’t use reddit very often so will do without.

red, good news from the Doc!

Heading toward 8pm so need to finish my You Tubing and be thinking about bedtime. If I don;t get back, catch y’all on Thorsday.

I grew up extremely Mormon in the heart of Utah.

Completely bought the whole Joseph Smith story and all. My family, all my relatives, my friends, the neighborhood, everyone was Mormon.

It was my complete identity up through most of high school, then I fell into a really bad crowd.

Yeah, got mixed up with the wrong kids who were doing things no decent people ever should be exposed to.

No, it wasn’t drugs or anything that minor. I’m talking about D&D, that subversive role playing games kids did before video games were common.

(It actually was on the news, one of the high schools in Utah banned the dungeons and dragons club because it seemed Satanic.)

Anyway, I went on a mission to Japan, which is where I got my Japan connection. Later quit Mormonism but I still love hanging around here.

I could use one, today’s prize from the Calendar is a geode. Sometimes there is a bin of geodes at the natural history museum gift shop. I hope he finds lots of treasures with the hammer.

Jtc, I have done flat Stanleys for various classes and we did have “underwear bear” from the sdmb. Not done post cards.

I have begun looking for a new kindle. They have colour ones now. That would be helpful when there are pictures…

Up from naptime, having a martini and chicken with egg noodles and cheese sauce.

As do I.

Same here.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s a balmy 47 degrees Ferret Height(8.33 Centipedes) The Bread, Milk Eggs Panic Index is at 30% for Sunday.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 5c/40f with a predicted high of 6c/42f and cloudy. Weather app says “Is this fucking fedora weather? Nope, it’s fucking never fedora weather.” Well, it might be today if you really wanted to.

That is a lot of drama for one family, I can understand that it must be more of a relief for you to be at some distance from them. I hope everyone gets the help they need.

Thanks! I have an interview date for next week so I might not even be around for Great Reshuffle, and if I leave, then I’m going to create more of a mess for them.

I hope all goes well! Do you have a recovery onesie, just like the kitties?

That would not surprise me at all, having seen some nasty videos online about Doordash drivers having to hide out in clients’ homes for fear of what’s outside.

I saw the FB pic, it looks pretty good and a great reminder of the trip, even if you were robbed of the victory!

That’s very true, I had a “free” consultation for my own domestic drama and ended up being their client. To be fair, the advice was sound, and the person I talked to was reassuringly professional so it was a good move. I hope your daughter can at least get some idea of what she needs to do.

As long as Friday’s Hawaiian shirt day!

So you might have to put on an extra layer and long trousers so you can do your day drinking on the porch?

Hurrah! And yay for sis making sure you’re stocked up with essentials. Nelson will be pleased to hear that his food and treats are not in danger of running out.

Yesterday was a noisy and distracting day as everyone was in the campus office. Wednesday is my least favourite irk day for that very reason, and a day on which I get very little done. I did remember to bring a birthday card and got everyone to sign it for one of the team as it’s her birthday today but she’s working at home so we were able to give her the card before she left for the day.

I had a meeting with my erstwhile manager yesterday but didn’t really get down to my list of questions about the office move, mainly because we spent so much time talking about Troublesome Minion. We now have a joint meeting with her next week so hopefully we can draw a line under this whole unfortunate episode.

Today I have only one meeting which is a kind of team manager meeting. I share attendance with two other colleagues in my office, and I think it’s probably my turn this week. I also got an email this morning inviting me for an interview for the part-time job. Typically it’s next week, right in the middle of a departmental meeting that I need to take minutes for. I’ve emailed back to ask if I can have a different time instead.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 38 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 49 and sunny. We shall fill the day with RDOS inactivities as this is a good day to be inside and warm. TWPTB have upped the chance of possible wintry mix Sattidy into Sunday. The local teevee weather folk will be in need of their faintin’ couches and smellin’ salts. I imagine Precious (we named him that cause he is just so precious and a drama queen) will be in a panic when he gives the weather report. Sup will be the leftovers from Tuesday night’s sup.

Lily hope all goes well today.

red hooray for the good doc report! Glad Nelson has a goodly stock of treats.

Sensei glad sis is gettin’ a respite from caregivin’. It is important for caregivers to have a chance to rest and recharge.

BooFae we may have to don the thick sweatpants and hoodies to go sit out on the porch! We may also have to day drink adult hot chawklit or hot buttered rums to keep us warm.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

What was I doing at 6:21 this morning? Answering a text that just came in from a parent. We had started a conversation yesterday afternoon and she just came back to it this morning. Today is the official end of the semester so I imagine it’s not the last interesting conversation that I’ll have.

I really feel ick this morning from lack of sleep. I missed my chance to go back to sleep, though. Shame on me.

I hope your procedure goes well, lily.

A tad less impressive when I mention there were maybe 8 groups competing, or maybe 6?? It was 54 years ago and, well, brains…

We weren’t exactly robbed. It was more like a bad habit (for want of a better word) of relying on one person rather than requiring the section to learn their part. I’m guessing the one person choked/freaked at the pressure on him and it all went downhill from there. At least, that was the conventional wisdom afterwards. But really, he wasn’t to blame - the teacher should have pulled him from the section till his fellows learned their part without him… ancient history.

Jim Cantore wannabe??

Another weird sleep night. I went to bed early and got just enough sleep that it took the edge off, so when I woke shortly thereafter, it took 3-ish hours for me to fall back to sleep. Dammit.

Otis has started his day by horking up something - thankfully, on the tile floor rather than the carpet. So FCD had a fun start to his morning. The dog food delivery from Chewy comes today, and since it’s FedEx, I expect it to be left in front of the garage door again, especially since it’s a 40# bag of kibbles plus some other stuff.

I’ll be painting again, but in the basement since FCD will be doing dusty work in his shop. I’ll probably get a fire going, just to aid the paint drying. That’s the extent of today’s planning. I should give a thought to supper so I can pull something out of the freezer. Maybe a portion of the spiral cut ham?

Healthy and healing thought to all Mumpers and their critters as required - we’ve got a lot of medical-related stuff going on it seems. At the risk of jinxing myself, all I’ve got coming up is my eye exam next month.

And, swampy, I’ve been meaning to thank you for the nyquil suggestion earlier this week. One snort of that knocked me out and took care of the chills and the various other unpleasant symptoms. I’m going to assume it was a 24-hour ick and not a random plague.

OK, FCD is on his way to the marina and to West Marine (for epoxy) and Otis is with him. Once I’m done my morning Intrawebz routine, I’ll shower, dress, and get ready to paint. After painting, I need to run to Food Lion for 'nanners and maybe some other stuff. So much for RDOS.

Happy Thursday!!

Here in Elkhart, it’s 15 degrees F out there. It’s snowing and windy. I have an appointment for an allergy shot in Mishawaka today, but we’ll reschedule it. I may be spry, but I’m not crazy.

I agree. Apparently someone else was shot last night very close to us; as in about six blocks from here. Haven’t verified it yet.

Good morning, everyone.

It’s 45F and cloudy outside. Our high will reach 49F, and the afternoon should be partly cloudy to cloudy.

Nellie, that’s a bummer about the probable eye surgery and the back surgery. I hope the back surgery can (if you want it) can come sooner rather than later. I’m still sending hugs to both you and your daughter.

Red, yay for the good doctor report!

BooFae, reorganizations are always such a PITA. I’ve been through many of them. Best of luck with the interview!

Lily, I hope all goes well today and that your recovery is speedy.

I stripped the bed entirely yesterday and washed all the bedding, including the mattress cover. Considering that my husband had multiple blankets and the comforter piled up on his side, that was a lot of laundry. Anyway, it got done, and the bed got made again.

I have decided we need to get European-style comforters because he claims he’s cold and piles all the blankets up, and I sleep hot. This way, I can get him a winter-weight comforter and get myself an all-season or mid-weight comforter.

I am not sure what’s on today’s agenda, and I’m thinking we might do the bike ride tomorrow instead of Saturday, so it’ll be less crowded on the trail.

Okey-dokey, off for more coffee and to run the dishwasher. Please take care of yourselves.

Good Morning MMP!! My body kept waking me up from 5:30am onwards about every half-hour, but I just told it to roll over and go back to sleep, at least until 7:30am. Have broken fast and let my computer do some diagnostic work on my startup, so we’ll see if it has improved. Another day with nothing much on the agenda, so probably gym time and slothage are in store for me. 28F going to 37F but due to reach 55F tomorrow, so it isn’t too bad.

Sensei, interesting story, thank you for sharing it.

rocky, I have a couple of geodes that I bought probably 20 years or so ago and have never gotten around to cracking them open.

I used to re-read all 20 years of Schlock Mercenary every year, but have let it be the last couple of years. Some of those strips are thousands of items long and going back through them all can be quite a time-eater. But still…

Why do it hear a little hehehehehehe at the end of that?

Sticky Buns, maybe it’s the only time she has to communicate…or maybe she’s just a donkey’s orifice…

FCM, I have my hearing aid visit in February and my dental inspection in March and probably my usual check-up in May, hopefully that’s all the professionals I’ll need (maybe the eye doc too). And it does sound like FCD is making good on his promise to take care of the dog. Happy painting.

Knots, looking at the Elkhart railcam, looks like the snow has stopped but the wind still is around and you have one of those ‘fake blue skies’ where it looks so nice but it’s really, really cold out. Take care.

OK, onward into the day. Have a good one, all.

Happy Thursday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Not a whole lot shaking today, so it’s time to get to it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Doggio Those milk sandwiches won’t make themselves.

Did I ever mention how I had once come first in my age category in a 5k? Okay - so there were only five other people in it, but you’ve got to take your wins where you can.

Metal Mouse I have the entire run of The Sandman that I used to read regularly, It’s kinda lost it’s appeal, since we learned that Neil Gaiman is a creep. That one hit hard. I still have my Alan Moore run of Swamp Thing to keep me company.

24ºF This morning. It’s been colder, but I think the humidity was higher. My face went numb. Chloé, OTOH, was raring to go. I did a power flow yesterday morning, and was too tired for a gentler flow last night, so I went shopping while Mrs Magill did yoga. I have the makings now for a lentil soup, a white bean chicken chili, and a regular chili. If you’re detecting a pattern, Mrs Magill requested soup next week. It’s supposed to be cold.

Dang it! I still need to get tortilla chips and cream cheese. Ah well, I still need to get kale for the rabbit. The kale at Kroger was a little soft last night. I’ll try Publix today. I’d better write that down, so I don’t forget.
