I bought two half-kilo bars of Trader Joe’s 72% cacao dark chocolate. I have one square (half of a serving) a couple/few times a week.

fun thing; if the puzzles are the same manufacturer, and the same piece count, you can swap pieces and make whole new puzzles. we tried it out in the office. completed 2 puzzles then started swapping pieces. it was so fun.

And a good late morning all, body and bladder let me sleep in past 8am today, so hopefully I am all caught up. Will perform mowage in an hour or so and that will be my major activity of the day. Have broken fast with an apple and a mini-apple pie so no growls from stomach. Just looked and it’s ‘only’ 79F right now, but it’ll be in the 80’s by the time I get out into the heat.
Now to catch up with everyone…scroll mode activated.
I had to google that, now there’s a concept I need to explore when I head out for several hours…
nellie, vent away, you’re hot and worried and it would take even a better human than you already are (and your in the top 10% in my book) to hold it all in. Take care.
Shoe, know what it is like when you have the munchies towards a particular food; it’s hard to resist. And thanks for the reminder I need to do my Firday shopping list today or tomorrow.
boo fae, one nice thing about being a bachelor is no one complains about my housekeepeing…such as it is and what there is of it…hope the meetings are survivable.
FCM, I get a Snickers about every month or two, and concur, the price is way more for candy of all types these days (now need to tell the local youth to stay off my lawn…).
rocky, thanks for the explanation of the chocolate cost increase, but I like being curmudgeonly now and then…
Glad throat is doing better.
Mollie, we’re due for our share of rain tonight and then through the weekend. And 3.5 miles of walking will burn off a fair number of calories in it’s own right.
Knots, don’t argue and enjoy the nice weather for as long as you have it.
wet one, I’ve thought about getting a professional window washer but never got up the gumption to do it; may have to look into that, once things cool down here. Best wishes for Ariel, and yay! for Jake doing the substitution role.
Taters, that’s a lot of chores; I’m tired just reading them all. Take care.
And that’s all for the morning missive; check the rest of the Dope and my webcomics and then out into the summer and see how many bags of clippings I can get this time. Have a good Hump Day all.
AQI seems okay. Going to mid-80°s by later. I have a Zoom to attend and will continue on with the many tasks associated with having had houseguests. I think I’ve turned off OneDrive [shakes fist at the cloud]. Most laundry laundered I’m sure there are more odious tasks on my list.
My lovely wife and I are fortunate to mostly be okay with how the other one does stuff.
65F at 0920. Another day without AC, but this time on purpose! I’ll be spending part of the day rerouting some income streams to our new account, and part of it doing laundry, both after exercise in a few minutes.
You don’t have to justify yourself; we ain’t the po-po.
There’s a place for both.
This is also why there’s a proliferation of gummy-type candies lately - cheaper than chocolate to manufacture.
Except it’s not just candies with chocolate. All impulse snacks have gone up. I guess the CEOs at the candy companies need to make a few more yacht payments…
Hmmmm, I may have to rethink my regard for you. Then again, I tolerate a lot of grit-eaters, including my spousal unit.
You’re nicer than I am. When I clean carpets, I send FCD elsewhere, unless I need help moving furniture. He knows to stay out of my way.
When I was at my desk earlier, I was startled by a rather loud thunk. The big-ass branch that’s been hanging by a fiber or two finally let go. It hung over the spot in the yard where Daughter sometimes parks, tho lately I’ve been having her park elsewhere. Anyway, seems that last night’s storm did it in. So I went out with my itty-bitty battery-powered chainsaw and cut it into fireplace-size logs. We’ll get a few BTUs out of it this winter.
Then I cleared another smaller branch that had fallen in the back yard a couple of weeks ago. Yes, I was ignoring it, but now it’s been flang into the woods. It was too close to rotted to be worth being burned. Unfortunately, when I went out, I forgot the insect repellent, so my legs are itchy. Dammit. Stoopit bugs.
And it’s closing in on my lunch time. I didn’t have much of a breakfast, so I’m hungry!!! And I should pull something out of the freezer for supper - I think it’s a Polish sausage night. Off to dig it out of the back. In fact, I probably should defrost my little freezer. So I’ll fetch a couple of coolers and get started.
Onward!!
I’m at the horsepistol, pic line installed and waiting for the chest x-ray to verify. Once that’s done, I’ll be back with the infectious disease doctor’s pharmacy to get the space balls.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Afternoon all. Mowage has been completed, along with lunch, and will consider some gym time in a bit, but got a fair amount of sweatage from the mowing and bagging the clippings (4 39-gallon bags full) so not in a hurry. Beginning to cloud up, we’ll see if that brings some moisture along or not.
Cookie, it’ll be late September or early October before my AC gets a break. 88F right now.
FCM, I need to uproot a few things growing in my back yard around my fence, which I will attend too…eventually. Glad you could make use of the fallen timber.
red, hope the Doc visit goes good.
And that’s all for now.
There was a stench.
Half the building smelled like rotting fish. Mainly because somebody’s fish order rotted, and busted open in the 200 Boxline cages. Poor Sterling had to deal with that, along with a leaking box of urine samples. The rest of the sort seemed OK, if drawn out, which irked The Supreme Shouting Officer to no end.I thought it would be a quick cleanup, when the unload guys brought 2 full carts of damages and rewraps. The said the one tote went into the one box. [Maury Povich]That was a lie[/Maury Povich]. It was 2 separate Rock Auto orders, a bunch of assorted car parts, and a empty box. A box from a company that imports furniture. A box with product ID numbers that could have been a car CV joint, an exhaust system for a different car, or an embosser that worked on ceramics. None of which we had. Oh, and 2 labels for things that had been delivered last week. So now I’m home had had my frosted mini wheats, and I shall nap.
Ya got a tongue if you didn’t have the scoop chips. ![]()
Because it costs so much for all those billionaires to have 4+ yachts waxed every week?
I did that once because I forgot to set the time when I put the chicken in.
I thought it might be a good idea to take my e-trike out for a little spin so I could get used to riding it. I have discovered that I’m most comfortable in the 7-8 MPH range and when it gets over 10 (at one point, I almost hit 20 going downhill) I am not as happy. But my brakes work, so there’s that. And I think it’s mostly a stability thing because of the diameter of the wheels. It’ll take some more getting used to. I find I like pedaling and only using the motor as an assist. I feel more in control, plus some bonus cardio!
And I’m thinking along with a helmet, I should get wrist and elbow guards. Or maybe a suit made of bubble wrap?? There’s a mental image for you!
It’s a good thing FCD asked me about my preferences for the galley modification. He neglected to allow space for the cooktop knobs, and that would have been bad. But since it’s all in a 3-D model, he can make a few changes before he starts cutting material.
I’ve got about half an hour to kill before I need to start supper. Hark - is that my recliner calling???

My husband is doing so. The Dr told him to. Some sort of physical issue that I’m not sure what it is.
before my prior computer fried itself last year in May, Blossom was still hiding in a bookcase in an upstairs room IMS. good to know that she has blossomed and is now comfortable with you.
OK, I’ve been seeing you post this occasionally for a number of years and finally am going to ask: What the heck are trouts and chitlins??? Inquiring minds.
rocker hope your throat feels better soonest. AQI in SE Mitten was only 12 this morning so I’m hoping Philly cheesesteak AQI is down shortly.
With the very favorable AQI my former co-workers and I opted to sit outside when we met for lunch today. There were 5 of us. We had a nice table under an overhang so were out of the sun. We ate at a Lebanese restaurant and I had a Shish Kafta pita wrap. Had to ask for garlic spread. Delicious! One of the women just retired last month. I asked her what her plans are; she’s just enjoying being a Grandma.
It was very comfortable walking to work this morning at 59F. There was a discrepancy on Monday between the Sunday credit card slips and the amount that was pending at the credit card processor. So, I wasn’t able to record those transactions. The discrepancy still hadn’t been resolved this morning. So, I was only able to do 75% of the work needed on Mondays and Tuesdays transactions. Normally I don’t work on Thursdays unless there is some issue so I’ll have to go in tomorrow. Heck. Also, there was a somewhat irate customer who called and the young woman who answered the phone got the brunt of it. I took over the call and was told that the young woman was rude to her husband and son who had been in earlier and was rude to the wife who was calling. I had overheard the employee’s side of the call and no, she was not rude. I was able to calm the caller and said I would get back to her. Called the manager who wasn’t in yet and he gave me the info needed to satisfy the caller. I called her back within about 5 minutes and she didn’t pick up the phone so I left a VM. A short time later I had to go out to the counter area and found the young woman in tears trying to help a customer. I had her go take a minute and I took over trying to help the customer. She went into the bathroom and was in there for about 30 minutes before she was able to compose herself. Manager ended up telling me that young woman will need to harden herself before she gets out into the real world. She’s a student that has been working summers for us for 3 years. She’s our best seasonal employee ever. Very unfortunate that this happened.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Had one of my sisters take our daughter on a visit there. They really didn’t offer degrees in the fields she was interested in but they told her she should come. When asked why, she was told “Because we’re Michigan”. My sister came away from visit saying “Wow, we really are arrogant”. Yes, all 3 of my siblings went to ‘the other school’.
Coppertone perhaps I missed it; how did the training go on Friday?
Evenin’
Nothing much new going. Had a brief rainshower pass over earlier, which was about as exciting as today got.
BooFae’s gig going reminded me that the solitary gig I am attending this year is a month away. It’s a venue I’ve been to before, and there’s buses- bookable in advance- from near here to a stop 10 minutes walk from the site, so I’d not really bothered thinking about it. I thought I’d just check the bus times, only to discover the gig is due to finish 30 minutes before the last bus of the night and there was one solitary ticket on it left…
There are now no tickets on that bus left.
It would not have been a complete disaster, I do know alternative options, but still… glad I grabbed it in time. I can change the ticket if I do decide on an alternative.
Got some banking crap out of the way, despite the balkiness of the intertoobs today. Laundry is in the dryer and almost done. Dinner will be chicken cutlets, broccoli and brown rice.
Just got back from counselling. It was a good session. We discussed different coming out strategies. She is also updating my diagnosis with the insurance company from Associative Disorder to Gender Dysphoria, which should start opening doors medically. I had a little time before I left, so I did a little make-up. Just a bit of foundation and eyeliner.
My sister sent me a short video of her new kittens, Frederick (Fred) and Minerva (Mini). They are too cute by far. They were cage mates at the animal shelter, so they already get along. 'll post any pics she sends.
Tonight is grocery shopping night. I don’t have a long list, but I do need to get some things. I haven’t figured out what I want for dinner, but I’m wavering between Raisin’ Cain’s or Five Guys.
Cheese grits, done well - with chicken broth and onion flakes is wonderful. But with eggs, I like plain grits and patty sausage. You cut the sausage into little bits, slice up the eggs, and mix it with the grits into something my sister and I call “messy eggs.”
That’s my attitude towards Tennessee and UNC - they really are full of themselves.
I also have disposable spoons, because I’m addicted to soup not a friggin’ peasant.
ISWYDT
Oh, yeah! (someone has to have the memory bank around here!) @SuntanLotion did things go okay?
Rousted myself from my comfy cocoon, gave Monkey some gooshy-fud (note to self: need more, go on Amazon, you lazy!) and am heating up western Mitten State my kitchen, baking snax before work. A couple of mini quiche, and one mini beef empanada. Should be sufficient, I’m only working a super-short shift (go in at 8 p.m. and basically throw myself into closing cleanup duties).
Y’all getting deluged with rain, please go “Hhhhuuuuffff and puuuufffff” and blow it our way.
Was a irk day of meetings. I know I’ve said this before, but how the hell am I supposed to get the stuff done that is talked about at meetings when I’m in meetings? I did carve out (see what I did there) some time to work on the giant nose. Plus the weather was kind enough to be not sweltering, so I painted the outside of the snail room…long story.
And now I have a medium sized brindle dog wanting to play fetch, but she doesn’t quiiite get that part of fetch is giving the ball back. Great at the go and get it, run back, but the whole give the ball back thing, not so much.
Passwords are seriously becoming a stupid part of doing anything online like paying a bill. They must be long, complicated, and you will not remember them, so people write them down somewhere on a list or little booklet. This is more stupid and unsecure than not even having a password. Using a password managing program to keep track of them does not seem secure to me, you are still telling someone what your passwords are and nothing on line is ever secure for long now. They will get hacked eventually. Having your computer save your passwords is the same.
I used to work in a large office and if I needed access to a co-workers computer, I could always find the password close to their work station.
Don’t remember what your password is? Send us an email, you will need to set up a new password that you aren’t going to remember either, enter the confirmation number and you may proceed. Absolutely hate them, Is someone going to log into my electric bill and pay it against my will?
Needs to be 12 charcters long, 1 capital letter, a special character, some numbers too. It is my opinion only that this needs to change.
PREACH!!
