Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Today, once Sis and I finish running around, I’ll dink around with the 'puter. I’m going ask BIL if he knows anyone who does repairs. The backup plan is buying a second hand tower and installing MS Office on it. The unit is 10 years old, so relatively old for electronics.
Good morning! I just sent Squeaky and Mrs Magill off to Kick-off Camp. The fall band season has begun.
And not ten seconds after ai wrote the above, did Mrs Magill call me because she’d forgotten her smart watch and battery pack. Oh, and by the way, I could also swing by the Twice Daily and grab some coffee if I wouldn’t mind.
She is now caffeinated.
While I was grabbing clothes for my quick errand, I realized I didn’t have any non-athletic shorts I wanted to wear, and that started the GD back up. But I recognized the problem and rode the wave. I may run through the Old Navy and get some shorts to prevent this from happening again.
Here’s an observation that probably isn’t made too often. Women are really short changed in the pocket game, except for athletic shorts. My men’s running shorts might have a little change pocket, but my women’s shorts have pockets for days. While I can fit all sorts of shit in my men’s jeans pockets, but my women’s jeans pocket might fit my car key fob… if I’m lucky.
The other night I had finished off the rest of a pint of Halo chocolate cherry ice cream. Unbeknownst to me a piece of chocolate dropped from my spoon, hit my hand and ended up on my face and my shirt and I didn’t see it until I looked in the mirror and freaked out. Waste of good chocolate.
Pockets in women’s clothing is a major sore point for me. I had a pair of jeans and the front pockets were all of 3" deep. Truly - when I put my hands in, they stopped at the second knuckle. I didn’t dare put anything more substantial than a tissue in them, lest the contents spill on the floor when I dropped trou to use the terlit. And we’ll not talk about pants that had decorative plackets that suggested but did not include pockets.
Don’t get me started…
I was going to sew the stick-on velcro on the tie-backs, but the adhesive gunked up my sewing machine needles. So I just stuck it all on, and if it comes off, I’ll buy non-adhesive velcro. I thought it would be easier for sewing to have it stick on first. I was wrong. So for now, all the curtains and tie-backs are soaking in hot (soon to be cold) water and generic oxyclean. When we get home, the whole batch will go in the washer and we’ll see if the velcro comes off.
That was me yesterday with paint. Two people told me I had paint on my face and I assumed it was a little smear. Then I got in the car and glanced in the rear view mirror - nope, major blob. Classy, Then this morning after I showered, I noticed another blob on my left arm. I should probably wear a HazMat suit when I paint.
We’ll probably be leaving in an hour or so. I think it’s time for some games on the tablet.
Garden visited. Yes, the strawberry place was open, and yes, they were worth stopping off for. Not cheap, but goood. Apparently the garden wasn’t free entry today with my membership, cos they changed their membership of the scheme a couple of months back so now it’s only free Wednesdays and Thursdays, but they were nice and let me in anyway. I like that place cos it has a section that’s both ornamental and produces lots of veg, and that’s really what I’d like to do with my place, so I always come away with ideas.
I bought lunch and another tomato plant from the shop at the garden, so it’s not like they didn’t get anything off me.
I know I already have 6 tomato plants more than I have space for, but it was a different variety… a yellow one that’s supposed to be good for the area…Yeah, I really shouldn’t be allowed out without adult supervison.
We did have the cheese omelette-and-bacon sandwiches for breakfast. The dishwasher is running. We needed a box of alcohol prep pads, so I’ve ordered some from Da Jungle… along with a dozen cans of reduced sodium SPAM,®, two cans of Korean-flavoured SPAM,®, and a jar of Branston Pickle. They’ll be here tomorrow.
Arose bright and early, got fed and headed out to get our planting done before the heat hit. Planted the herb garden, the leeks, and some flowers in various planters, and this year’s tomato plant. Hefting bags of soil was likely not a good idea for someone my age, and I’ll be paying for it tomorrow, if not sooner. The wife is already sacked out at noon. Oof.
The AC will be activated on Monday, apparently, but it takes a couple of days for all that water to chill to the point where we will feel any relief.
Busy on the 2 slides today. It got done, with a bit of heart failure, because somebody threw a bunch of the stuff to be clerked on the return belt, instead of dropping it on the slide. Damaged weren’t too bad, but thee were 2 boxes of wrecked Home Despot tile. When I was stopped at the light on the way home I saw a DeLorean. I stopped at the ABC Sto to get some bourbon, since it’s International Whiskey Day.
The deputy didn’t get shot because he was able to Bob and weave out of the line of fire.
Lovely day today, 75 ferrets and sunny. Some quality porch time and some smoked chicken wings are in order. The dog and I have already been to the dump, the liquor sto, and Trader Joe’s.
Long Night shift tonight. I have fortified myself with a small pack of prosciutto/provolone rolls, cuz I’m a speshul snowflake and want protein in quick bites, in-between “Hi, how can I help you?” for nine straight hours.
… and a small bag of chocolate covered coffee beans, from the deli with the Polish roses (@swampbear did you try making them yet?) because, well, sugar and caffeine make pizzas happen.
What do you prune? Tops? Bottoms? Alternate branches?
Well, all the velcro bits I stuck to the tie backs came unstuck as they soaked. On the plus side, no more adhesive so maybe they’ll be easier to sew on. We’ll see. All the curtains and tie-backs are in the washer now.
The picnic was nice, if sparsely attended. Ribs were good. Otis got skritches. But I’m glad to be home - all that fresh air tired me out!!
Howdy Y’all! We had some quality cee-mint pond time followed by shower and nappage. ‘Twas nice out. The water is still really cool, but not freezin’ so it felt good to be floatin’ around. Also, I have gone down a rabbit hole watchin’ Hell’s Belles. I cannot get enough!
Well, OK as long as you have some protein to go along with it.
MOOOOOOM hope the pic-a-nic is fun. Def do the comedy tour.
Taters glad you took time for yourself and to take care of your eye. That stuff is just as important as all the other stuff.
FlyBoy are you about to be the big 65? Also, why would the answer to do you want a cheese omelette and bacon sammich for breakfast ever be anything but yes!
shoe I haven’t attempted Polish roses yet, but it’s on the list for sometime or other when I think about it.
