(Old) I think I MAY start the MMP

And a good early evening all. Refereed two U8 soccer games and ‘mentored’ some youth referees in two more, so a pretty full day outside in 80F weather (and I forgot my cap, of course). Have eaten my Big Bowl of Pasta and am quietly digesting that while typing. Nothing else planned for the day outside of internettin’ and TV-watchin’.

Taters, hope the eye starts doing better soon.

flyboy, sounds like a house-irk day. Hope you didn;t have to think of anything else to do..

Mollie, that’s interesting on the pocket differences. My athletic shorts usually have a right and left pocket and they’re pretty sizable.

And man after my own nature regarding chocolate…

Nut, so a free garden pass and strawberries; I call that a win/win day.

swampy, just watched a couple minutes of Hell’s Belles, I may have to revisit it again…

And that’s all for now.

Preach! I carry a tube of lipstick and my keys in my jeans pockets and there were certain pairs that I didn’t wear to work because I couldn’t carry my purse past security. I don’t know how many tubes of lipstick that I abandoned on the restroom floor.

That’s part of the plan.

Sis and I dropped donations off to St. Christopher’s. I cracked the joke that it was a good thing that they were church affiliated, given where they had you back into required a lot of faith that donors wouldn’t hit the gate or take out some shrubbery.

We popped into the Polish grocery for sausages before heading to Texas Art Asylum. To bypass a freeway detour, we cruised the hood where she used to teach. We stopped for lunch at a little Chinese place she used to go to before retirement. We got a surprisingly good lunch for $6.25 each before tip. All in all, a good day out.

Most of the time, she just wants cereal or quick oats.

Yeah, pretty much. I thought the roast beast came out a bit tough, but The Spousal Unit’s slice was tender.

Thanks - I bookmarked it!

Get one or two to live in your car and make sure there’s always at least one in there. You don’t need sunburn or worse!

I laundered and sorted the boat curtains. Not sure if I’m going to bother with the tiebacks or just buy some cord. Must cogitate. Unfortunately, I need to iron the curtains - they’re not perma-press. On the plus side, FCD doesn’t care if I iron the pleats back in, so I’m thinking “no” - also must cogitate.

But now I think I’ll watch some BritBox before I crash.

Waves at everyone. I’m not in jail, my comp woke up and thought it was tired of all the bad news so wouldn’t go online. It is in the shop now and I’m on my tablet. I don’t have much patience for typing on that so I won’t be long.

(Now that I think about it, there is a gaming laptop in the closet in Hub’s room. I should probably make a note to get it out and start it updating in case we get told that mine is ded.)

Congrats Hippy!!! That is such a happy word, I’m glad it was said to you.

Nellie, please take care of yourself, you are still recovering and your body isn’t as young as it was back in the day.

My new look now includes cargo pants! With velcro fastening pockets! And belt loops because I need a belt after I’ve filled all of my pockets.

You know about a lot of the important stuff, maybe ask them to hire you on part time with a full time assistant you can supervise?

Thank you all for the support

My daughter is grateful for all the NO BENDING backup. I am, too, and have been very good all day. She left this morning to go home to fulfill some obligations and will return Monday and stay until after my post-op appointment Thursday. I sure miss her! She got a lot done, so I won’t have any reason to bend.

My son is still sick but says he’s turned the corner. His wife is out of town on business, but he seems to be managing OK. He’s a big boy, but I worry because every illness triggers the asthma, and after the ambulance ride and ICU when he was little, I tend to worry more than I should.

A big thanks for the grabber recommendations. My daughter searched locally at a number of stores, including WalMart, and they were out of stock everywhere, so I ordered the ones Red recommended (THANK YOU!). They arrived today, and they work well. Boo, your suggestion about paper dishes is great. Mine are on a bottom shelf, but I’ll see if the grabber can get them.

The itching is driving me slap crazy, and it isn’t from healing. It’s my wonky mast cells. It’s confined to the swelling on the left side of the incision. I’m not scratching it because just touching it is painful, but it’s aggravating. I find myself growling. I’ve been slathering cortisone cream on it and icing it, but relief is minimal. That’s the breaks.

Hippie, WONDERFUL news on the health front! Hooray!

Tater, I’ve been reading your posts about your mom. I’m sorry. It shouldn’t be this hard. And you don’t need the stress.

FCM, it sounds like there were plenty of ribs at the BBQ, and some to spare.

I once read an article where they asked various designers why there weren’t more and bigger pockets in women’s clothing. Oh, the shuddering and clutching of hair! “They ruin the line!” So there you have it, folks. Forget needing a place to stash keys and cell phones! It’s the line that counts! Up next: Foot-Binding is Back! Then it’s on to “Thanx to Spanx: How My Pancreas Met My Kidneys.”

I’m very tired and am already thinking about going to bed. I should eat dinner first. Daughter left lemon shrimp in white wine for my dinner–and it’s on the top shelf–no bending!

Hey, all. A quick note to say I’m reading but I’m tired this week and only doing life’s minimum. I hope I’ll be more lively next week. Anesthesia seems to still be affecting my short-term memory.

Back from Band Kick-off camp. They’re sounding good. I talked with my last Band Mom today. Her reaction was positive. She also said she’d always thought I had a different energy.

Mrs Magill and I stopped on the way home for ice-cream, then Chloé and I went for a walk. It was muggy, so now I am showered. In my PJs and ready for a scotch and Call of Cthulhu on the YouTube.

Everyone back your stuff up. These things come in threes yanno.

Truth, albeit it was cloudy for about 75% of the day, so don’t think I’ll be glowing in the dark.

JtC, hope your computer revives.

nellie, son will do ok, take at least a little time to worry about yourself and remember no bending… And an itch you can’t scratch is about the worst thing I can imagine…hang in there.

Lily, just concentrate on getting better, we’re still be here and still be caring about you.

Mollie, may things continue to be positive.

And I’m like nellie,in my case all the outdoor activity has worn me down (along with being up and more or less awake for 15+ hours). Anyway and early bedtime beckons. Catch y’all tomorrow.

A quarter 'til eight, and the sun is blasting through the front door window.

Hm. We have bourbon. We have gin. We have light- and dark rum. We have vodka. But what I want is some ouzo. Alas. :frowning: I don’t know when I’ll want it again, but I should probably pick some up sometime. In the meantime, no ethanol for me.

I napped. Disturbed by the workers ripping off the gutters. I had a Vieux Carré, and chicken stirfry.

Indeed!

Mine involves two restaurant aprons. The over one is a standard white, tossed into the staff hamper at the end of each shift; the one hidden underneath that, is mine. It has pockets, and my creaky memory keeps a pretty good inventory.

Left: highlighter, box cutter, a few elderly cough drops. Sometimes a Dum-Dum lollipop.

Right: { hoo boy } About half a dozen Sharpies in a variety of colors, another pen or two that are not for work purposes but ideal for “stepping outside to run some trash to the dumpster” (vapes) and any variable number of snacks.

Found out I could fit a pudding cup AND spoon in there, although I’m sure it was lumpy and “ruined the line” LOL.

Remember I started an MMP talking about how a coworker’s car wouldn’t start at the end of the damn night, and when her SIL finally arrived he had a battery starting gizmo?

… guess whose car wouldn’t start today. (That would be me.)

I got an emergency ride into work (thanks S.M.) and walked to the auto parts store conveniently 2 storefronts down the street on my lunch break, and bought the damn thing. Plus got a quick usage crash course from their manager, including the very good advice to charge it up cuz it was at a bare minimum outta the box.

S.M. got backup from another store to arrive for about an hour so she and I could go jump my car (“we’re not doing this at 2 in the morning in the dark”) and she was so impressed with how easy and FAST the fix was, I think she expedited the convo with the owner about getting one for the store, to just have as needed.

Good thing, too, cuz I needed it AGAIN when we closed at oh-dark-thirty. It’s re-charging right now, and we’ll see if I need it again tomorrow. I did drive kinda the long/scenic route home (at friggin 2 a.m. when I really just wanna go home) to hopefully let the alternator & battery do their groovy thang.

Oh! Mumpers!

I enjoy naming objects that bring goodness to my life. (For example, Coolio my AC unit, who is about to wake from slumber and run nonstop.)

Help me name my “fix car battery” thingamajig. It has lights so you can see what you’re doing, and started my car twice in one day.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 89 and mostly sunny, but there might be some rain early evenin’. We shall see. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization in which I have Verger duty and so must do both services. This is two weeks in a row which is fine cause other Verger has been bein’ Mimi to her eight year old granddaughter in Etlanner for the past nine days. Can’t deprive her of Mimi time now can I? OYKW will attend the ten-thirty service and go pick up stoner food afterwards to bring back to da cave. We may or may not have some quality cee-mint pond time this afternoon.

shoe I think you should call it Cranky.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Morning.

Shoe, do you use the term jump starting a car on that side of the pond like what we do? If so, I suggest Tigger or Froggy.

Am trying to be all productive today; laundry is washing and I’m getting stuff ready to go to the dump. Water is shortly due to start falling from the sky though, so I’m not 100% sure if the dump visit will happen today or tomorrow after irk. It’s not a lot of stuff, so it won’t hurt to sit in the car for a day, but I’m sick of it hanging around.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. I’ve been up for a bit, Spot woke me up for cuddles and to groom my head. I guess to make up getting a wild hair up his ass last night and gnawing on my nose. The usual cleaning and slothing in store for today.

I concur.

Cracked me up, this did!

Mental image of this slathered all over your itchy self…

Even Otis stole… er… got some.

Heard the damned woodpecker around 6 this AM. But I’ve already ordered these and they’re supposed to come today. Fingers crossed that they do the job.

Today is touch-up-the-paint day. Plus FCD will (we hope) finish putting the engine back together. Then I hope we’ll get home early as it’s supposed to get way too close to 90 Ferrets today after starting around 60. I’ve got a dentist appointment at 7:30 tomorrow morning and I’ve already told him I’m doing yard work afterwards. The rest of the week is still TBD.

For now, caffeination till it’s time to shower and dress.

Happy Sunday!!
