(Old) I think I MAY start the MMP

An unofficial team-building thing we did at my last gummint job happened whenever our boss had to go out of town. One time, Lisa lay down in the doorway to his office in a “murdered” pose and we used masking tape to make a chalk outline.

Another time, we filled his office with balloons suspended from the ceiling and hooked with yarn to his chair in a tribute to Up - we even printed out a picture of Carl Fredricksen and taped it to his chair.

Another time we filled the big white board with “messages” for the boss - they were hilarious! Yeah, we loved Al - he was one of the two best bosses of my 40+ year career.

That’s when I take my evening meds, then have my apple-n-peanut-butter snack. Supper used to be in the 5-5:30 time frame, but sometimes we’re starving at 4. That’s the geezer dinner hour, right?

Anyway, home from the boat. I got the dinghy supports stripped down to bare teak using a heat gun and scraper. Next step is a quick hand-sanding followed by paint. I was going to do that tomorrow, but it’s supposed to rain tonight, so painting will be put off.

We had lunch as Salsa’s, and we’ve decided that supper will be scrambled eggs. In fact, I need to get scrambling. Laterz!!!

Oh, it’s Wednesday and I finally made it to the MMP. Not that I have a bunch of time because I have to be somewhere in about 30 minutes. Anyways, nice to read about y’all. Hopefully I’ll make it back later tonight or tomorrow morning. See ya!

Howdy Y’all! We procured and stowed provisions. Then we turned into sloths. We had a leftover geezer sup. I am not in the mood to watch stuff so I shall see what up on teh intartoobz for a bit.

Yet you wonder why Squeaky is weird. :face_with_tongue: Also, move at the pace you need to move. You’ll know when it’s right. As always, we are here for you.

rocker maybe today is the day the aliens come for you and you forgot. I saw the real reason a bit later. Mine is a lot more fun.

shoe sometimes ya just gotta treat yourself.

Cookie Happy Doperversary! Glad y’all enjoyed yourselves at lunch.

Taters most SNFs I have dealt with are like the one your mom is in. Very few I’ve seen have private bathroom/shower facilities unless it’s private pay. Glad the staff seem great.

red one of the not fun things about geezerhood is sometimes tryin’ to schedule fun stuff around medical stuff. Hope y’all can figure it out.

MetalMouse you made BBBoo use her night nurse voice! OK, it’s also made me to make a note to call the eye doc cause I am a couple of years overdue.

Sticky_Buns Howdy! Come back and play when you can.

I had one boss for quite a few years (beginning as my supe, ending with my senior manager before he transferred out of the department) that we did this to, including the murder outline. He was a good one to work for.

Trash is out (I met one of the neighbors in the quad with the dumpsters, he threw my trash in the dumpster for me and introduced himself), laundry washed, dried, folded and put away and supper (a salad and a nuked burrito) et. Now for chillage.

Senior Nesting Facility?

Supper when I was a kid was usually around 5, and of course Navy suppertime is 5-6. Nowadays I usually get up between 7 and 8:30 and have coffee and maybe a granola bar, go back to bed for an hour or two after feeding the cats at 9, proper breakfast around 11, and lunch around 4 – all of which leads to supper around 7.

I would welcome Alien abduction, as long as I can be sure the cats are okay… perhaps a planet where they would be welcomed as the superior beings they are.

My birthday, actually. 79 years old, so technically now in my 8th decade.

Evening all. Dishes did get put away, the garbage bin is at the curb, and exercise was completed, so the cheeseburger and chips were a good reward for that. Second prescription has been filled so will pick both of them up tomorrow as I take my last pills that I have on hand (pretty good planning on my part–totally luck). Got 8 You Tubes lined up for the evening entertainment so a slothful evening is in the cards. Still 76F outside so a comfortable day all around.

BBBoo, got your PM, some good recommendations there and I’ll look into it, will drop you a PM back tonight or tomorrow.

shoe, enjoy the short shift tonight. Soup looks good but given the label, hope you added a sprig of parsley to it (old geezer music joke).

Cookie, glad you and the missus did get out for a bit.

Mollie, hope the good vibes keep rolling in.

FCM, I can remember a couple bosses we could have done that with, but also remember a few that we couldn’t have… As for dinner, it depends if I have something for a mid-day meal or not, but usually between 5-7pm (tonight was nearer 7).

Sticky Buns, thanks for the drive-in posting, hope life settles down enough to let you post a little more than that.

Saturday Night Fever–He’s just Stayin’ Alive, Stayin’ Alive…

Cookie, happy 79th (you are 6 years ahead of me). Hoping my mentis is as compos as yours is when I get there.

And it took three trains through LaPlata, Mo on Virtual Railfan to get this completed. Take care and I’ll see if I can get back for a late-night final.

Up from naptime. it’s World Cocktail Day, so I’m having a martini. And chicken with peas and egg noodles. Spot is off being cat and mysterious.

It turns you into a Time Lord.

Yes. and good plan, it’s journey, not a sprint.

Hiyastickyit’sgoodtoseeyougladyoudroppedby.

I work opposite of the daywalker schedule, so I typically eat around 9:30-10p.m.

Caitian homeworld

That actually sounds about right TBH. Don’t leave money or valuables there, the staff will do their best to be sure that thief doesn’t happen, but some of the patients might be less than honest.

When I was setting up the nursing home (self-pay, 3500 a month!!!) for FIL, the director warned me that many folks of the age to be staying there aren’t really thieves, they just can’t remember that the money on the table in a room that looks just like their table and room isn’t theirs. He had a private room but had to share a bathroom jack-and-jill style. (He could have had a private bathroom for 4300 a month but we/I just weren’t willing to pay that much.)

Of course that was for his end of days time, not just until he was able to take care of himself again.

Dang about your stye and I hope it is somewhat better now. Don’t rub it!!!

I do hope your nursery trip was restful even if you didn’t buy anything

Hurray and Yes, very important. I’m glad you got it figured out, mortgage payments are not great things to miss.

I do believe you are remembering @Rilchiam who was hosting a young lady from France. I was just thinking about them as well, hopefully she will drop in and update us.

I’ll bring my whacking stick!

:scream: :face_with_peeking_eye:

Its been 8 years. I’ll bet if you put one of those tests in front of me now, I would get at least a 98. Of course, if it is a standard government or business personality test, I will get at least a 95 because I’m good at testing. I don’t answer the question on the test, I give the answer the tester wants.

If kitties suddenly start peeing a whole lot, they go in for blood work with diabetes top of the list.

I’m glad you are still hanging in there and hope MusicMan and StickyMom are doing well.

I just checked when my last eye surgery was because I’m getting close to a year. Just because I can see colors doesn’t mean something else isn’t going wrong.

Happy Birthday, I hope you have many more happy birthdays and no ick ones.

So my shoulder is really aching and Hubs bought me a fancypants joystick. My plans for tomorrow are to figure it out. Its nothing like the controls we had back when we were using our TV as a monitor, I’m so not with it anymore.

I didn’t feed my lemon tree which worked out kinda. It rained part of the day and then big hail started pounding down and shredded some of the leaves. I haven’t looked at the tomatoes, they were blooming this morning, no growing fruit so they should be semi-ok.

There is a blue jay visiting the feeder now. We are both very entertained by the pattern on its rump, plus how it grabs a sunflower seed in its beak, then fly/jumps up on the fence and holds it down to peck out the meat.

Hubs and I have both agreed that we will NOT feed peanuts in the shell, so that means Hubs will go out looking for shelled peanuts and bits and come home with fifty lbs of peanuts in shells.

Something has been looking in the living room window on a regular basis. We know this because Jolene is a house protecting kinda cat and has a very impressive feral scream if something looks in the window at night. (I think raccoon, Hubs thinks deer).

Its odd how fast one gets used to something. The first time she screamed, my feet didn’t touch the floor until I was halfway down the hall. Now that I know that she’s not hurt, my reaction has changed to rolling over and wishing she would just give it a break.

Poor George is the only one who reacts now. She screams and he just nopes right out and stuffs his front part under the bed on the side farthest from the screaming. He figures if something is bad enough to make her scream, he doesn’t want anything to do with it. She’s the large and in charge kittah in this house!

@Chefguy

Happy, happy birthday!

I just lost a crown. I guess I’m calling the dentist in the morning.

Aye. The adhesive strip lasted overnight. Tuesday, the wound looked good. Now it’s scabby.

Happy birthday cookie! :birthday_cake:

Well, completed my You Tube Marathon and am ready for slumberland. So here’s the late night final.

JtC, yeah, the tests were pretty boilerplate; I remember the shock in the room when the video was updated for security training after watching the same one for years on end. And you should get an outdoor camera (for security of course) and track the animal comings and goings…you might be surprised.

Call out the King’s Guard!!

And that’s about as creative as I can be at 10pm. Catch y’all tomorrow.

I was gonna say more, but Ms Peach has informed me it is bedtime. With a woof from upstairs.

Hi there! Izzy is from Italy, not France. I stopped Mumping because I felt like a heel if I didn’t respond to the majority of posters. But I did intend to post an update after Izzy leaves, so I’ll start now.

– I should bump that thread about Europeans asking if school lockers and high school proms “have any basis in fact”. Prom was last weekend, and Izzy went with a group of girls. She wore a black strapless gown, and was stunning. There’s a whole story about getting her hair done; I’ll get into it later. Also, she went to homecoming last fall, that time with a date.

– Monday is her last day of school, but she’s staying longer than that, I think into June. Which is good, because there are some things we still haven’t done, or haven’t done much.

– It’s been pretty positive overall. We never had a major disagreement. There was a turning point shortly before Christmas; later for that, too. I think we had a good routine set up. She spent a couple hours after school in her room; she needed a break from communicating in English all day. Then we’d have dinner, and sometimes Izzy and I made it together. And at least two nights a week, she and Mr. Rilch and I would watch TV or a movie, or play a board game, or some activity. And there were a lot of excursions. Sports events, movies, concerts, and one time a rodeo. (None of us had ever seen one!) Also, last fall we somehow got voluntold to host a Halloween party for all the exchange students and their host families. Which we did, quite successfully; I can tell about that, too.

– One thing I won’t miss is the bus stop drop-off and pickup. Not the driving itself – less than five minutes – but the crazy hours. The school starts earlier and lets out earlier than I’ve ever heard of; must be a country thing. So the bus shows up at oh-dark-hundred, and comes back just after 3pm. Mr. Rilch usually did the morning run, but in a way, the afternoon pickup was more aggravating, because if I had to go somewhere, I had to keep it short and not go too far afield, with that bungee cord always pulling me back. Not a huge sacrifice, and anyway, sometimes school was remote (snow days, and once a fire in the cafeteria), but now that it’s about to end, I can gripe a bit, aye?

– I still don’t feel I know Izzy terribly well. But we’re hoping not to lose touch after she leaves. And her mother is a sweetie! She’s the same generation as ours, after all.

– Also, OMG, I now know what it’s like to host me. I am a Picky Eater. Izzy is a Picky Eater. She doesn’t like cheese in large amounts. Much of my kitchen repertoire is middle American food, which often contains cheese in large amounts. She doesn’t like rice. Ninety percent of the world eats rice. I eat rice; it’s saved me numerous times when I didn’t like anything else on offer. However, I never once made an issue of it, because I really do know how she feels, and she has tried a few new things.

– I got a card and a plush Snoopy for Mother’s Day. Awww…

– Irony: The Olympics were in Italy, not far from Izzy’s hometown, and she was here. After she leaves, the World Cup will take place partly in the USA, and she’ll be there! We watched a fair bit of the Olympics together, though, and she’s been some of the places they highlighted.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s a balmy 61 degrees Ferret Height(16.111 Centipedes).

accident or student protest?

< Wisconsin boy goes fetal on fainting couch >

:champagne: :birthday_cake: Happy birthday, Cookie!:birthday_cake: :champagne:

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 9c/48f with a predicted high of 12c/53f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Eh, it’s cloudy but it’s fucking decent outside. Is that more fucking positive? I’m really fucking trying.”

It wasn’t TM for a change, it was Erstwhile Manager. I suspect that’s the only free hour in her calendar! Tea in bags is perfectly acceptable, provided they’re the right sort. It is unacceptable to use Typhoo bags, but Yorkshire (and especially Yorkshire Gold) is absolutely fine.

I’m glad they found her a space, but sorry to hear it’s not the standard you would have wanted. I suppose facilities are limited if you’re not forking out a fortune for a private place.

I don’t either, I never get anything out of them except boredom and frustration. We are a small team, we work together all the time, we don’t need team-building nonsense.

Yesterday was a busy one in the campus office, but stuff got done so that’s good. I got home in good time and found 'im indoors had not done a bunch of things I’d expected he might have done. Y’know, taking a fresh bag of cat litter upstairs, emptying the kitchen bin, washing up a bowl that had been in his room for about 15hrs…nope, someone else did all of that.

Today, the Travel Gods decided to have their revenge for the last few trips. There were no trains at all running from my home station into the Big City so I ended up on the tram, which takes more than twice as long as the train. Then it would have been a long wait for a connecting train to campus, so I went to catch a bus. The ghost bus didn’t show up so it was another long wait until the right one came along. Finally made it to the office about 45 minutes later than I should have done.

Neurodiversity training this morning, taught team huddle this afternoon and some Zoom meetings to set up in between. Fun times!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 59 Amurrkin out and sunny with a predicted high of 81 and sunny. I foresee some quality cee-mint pond time later this mornin’. The water will be coolish but the sun will feel good. Not too worry, we have weapons grade sunscreen. Thus, we will sloth outdoors. Sup will be burgers 'n fixin’s and fried just cause.

Cookie I saw what I thought was a piece of cake which symbolizes doperversary. My bad.

And now this belatedly…

< AHEM > CLEARIN’ THROAT < AHEM >

HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY DEEEAAARRR CCCOOOOOOKKKIIIIIIEEEEEE!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day and the cee-mint pond! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!
