(Old) I think I MAY start the MMP

Man, are you out of sync with me. Breakfast is generally around 7 (unless we go out to eat) so by 11, I’m starving - I tend to have a light breakfast. When I was deployed to Sigonella, going out for supper generally happened around 8. I hated that! There wasn’t enough time to digest before bedtime.

Cookie - belated birthday happies!

This threw me for a second as there is only one spur thru LaPlata, MD that gets coal to the power plant on the Potomac and it’s not very busy at all. BTW, I’ll let you know the specifics of our train trip in January so you can follow along!

Otis was weird last night. He didn’t want to come in and when you put a black dog in a dark yard, even with a porch light, it’s tough to see what’s going on. I could tell by the jingle of his tags that he was going in and out of the woods next to the house. He wouldn’t come when I called, but he did come for FCD, who immediately locked the dog door. But Otis kept trying to go out. I wonder if he’ll dash right out when un-crated this morning…

I woke after a dream about my piano rolling down a steep road on a large furniture dolly and crashing in a bazillion pieces at the bottom. The police were called and there were 2 guys fighting in the debris.

So, I woke to 54 Ferrets after on and off rain thru the night. Today may reach mid-60s in much overcast - that is NOT spring in this area. Then Sunday will be low-90s - also NOT spring. So bizarro. Anyway, I’ll probably go to the boat today and work on un-sticking more windows since the dinghy supports need to dry before being painted. That’ll probably happen on Sunday. In the heat. Dammit.

Saturday is the Welcome Back Picnic at the marina. Last year they had a guy on stilts to entertain the kidlets - Daughter and her bunch will be coming and I’m thinking we should take Otis for some socialization. They had burgers and dogs and chips and coolers full of drinks, and the weather promises to be nice.

I also need to get to Teeter for the Coke sale. Can’t be running out, y’know!

Happy Thursday!!

Good morning, all.

Let’s see, local news: nextdoor says that ICE is moving to a facility near Gilroy. I looked up the address of the proposed facility, and it’s a lovely Japanese-style building on a rural road that Mr. brown and I always admire when we drive past it. It used to house a vegetable seed biological laboratory of some sort, but has stood vacant for awhile. Now this serene-looking place will be an ICE house. Boo.

We’ve rented a little vacation home up in Sonoma County for three days, and will be up there soon. For the first time, our rental has a swimming pool, and since the weather is predicted to be quite warm, I plan on swimming. However, this old girl hasn’t been swimming for ten years. I dug out my swim shirt and shorts from back then and they’re a bit snug. Oh, well, no one will see me in them, so I don’t propose to buy anything new.

Our flower garden in various tubs and pots is going gangbusters. I have fuchsias, pansies, impatiens, gaura, and azaleas. And my one dahlia, grown from a tuber, is doing well. But its top leaves tend to curl up a bit which google says is due to environmental issues: heat, moisture, and sun. I hope it does well enough to bloom, as it is a “dinner plate” dahlia and should have seven inch flowers.

We haven’t had steak for a few weeks as it has become a luxury item. But I think I’ll go to a local grocery that has good ones and pick out a couple for our lunch today. We’ve had enough meat loaf and tuna sandwiches for awhile.

Thanks for the wishes, y’all. I also heard from quite a few folks in our private lives. Even my youngest son remembered, although I suspect he was likely prodded by his lady friend, as he can be a bit scatterbrained.

I think we may actually make it to the gardening center today, although nothing is for certain these days. Rains are expected this weekend, so I’d like to get a tomato plant out there to benefit from it. S’posed to hit the eighties by Saturday, so I’m hoping management is planning to get the AC up and running.

It’s going to be a good day. I woke up smiling and optimistic.

My cardiologist was on the radio talking about strokes and the prevention of them.

The news of the day is the meeting between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping. Each side has its own press release about what’s happening. It’s a “he said, Xi said” kind of a thing.

Good morning, everyone. Last night, I popped a green jelly bean[1] into my mouth and spat out a crown. I hope its replaceable. I really don’t want an implant. I guess I’ll find out at 2:00.

During our walk, Mrs Magill and I discussed my dental history. When I was fifteen, my dentist did not like how deep my molars were, so he filled them in. When I was twenty-six, my (new) dentist did not like how the fillings were looking, so he put in crowns. One of those popped out. I will have to ask if that’s something I should be looking out for now. When I had those crowns put in, they made a full mold of my mouth, which I still had… somewhere. I was in the closet of the guest room this morning, putting my hair away, and I saw a large Rumplemintz stein[2] that we’d been given at one of our wedding showers. I thought to myself, “Wouldn’t it be hilarious if that mold I haven’t seen in twenty years were in there?” As it turns out, it was hilarious. I’ll bring the mold to my appointment, in case they need it.

Breakfast this morning was scrambled eggs, as I was a little nervous about my usual granola and yogurt.

Cookie Happy belated birthday! I hope it was a good one.

You are my people.

  1. Yes, I still have gobs left over from Easter - Don’t judge me! ↩︎

  2. This has always confused me - why would you have a 24 oz Bierstein for a 100 proof Schnaps? ↩︎

Morning all. Slept until 6:30am without a bathroom interruption so should be pretty well rested for the day. Need to pickup my prescriptions at WalGreens, then referee 1-2 soccer games tonight. Might get some gym time in-between them but we’ll see. Have broken fast with a Big Bowl of Cheerios and an apple, so appetite is on hold for the present.

Rilchaim (forgot your MMP name, my bad), thanks for the update, glad Izzy is enjoying her time here with you folks.

Anybody else read that as “feta”??

boo fae, I see the travelling Murphy’s got you today, hopefully your trip back home will be less fraught.

FCM, usually break my fast around 7:30 or so, depends when I take my thyroid pill, it needs to go in an empty stomach and no food until 45-60 minutes later. And yeah, going out to dinner in Spain/France at 7pm is quite early for there. Looking forward to hearing about your train trip. And LaPlata, Maryland is actually much larger than LaPlata, Missouri, but the Missouri one has the BNSF mainlain running through it, so…trains. And I wonder if Otis found something else to slay last night and is looking for seconds…

Lucky, we had an ICE raid here in February but no facility that I know of. Enjoy the swimmin’.

ISWYDT.

Mollie, been lucky with my teeth, outside of a couple fillings in the past few years I have had no serious problems since have my wison teeth removed over 30 years ago. And stuff turns up in the damnedest places, doesn’t it?

And onward into the day. Have a good one all.

Good morning.

It’s 50F and mostly cloudy right now. The forecast calls for morning clouds, late-morning and afternoon rain showers, and a daytime high of 57F.

Happy Belated Birthday wishes, Chef.

I opted not to go anywhere yesterday. I’ve been on the go for two weeks straight, and I just wanted to stay home. I spent the day doing a bunch of nothing and applying a warm compress to my eye every hour or two.

Today it’s back to running around. I have a hair appointment at 1:00, so I need to decide whether to fit in a trip to Wally World or Target, along with a dash to my mother’s house and the SNF, before or after the appointment. I am annoyed with myself because I should have done that yesterday, but I have no one to blame but myself. She usually wakes around 9:00 or so.

We haven’t made it to the nursery this week, and with the rain the last couple of days, we haven’t been able to mow my mother’s lawn. The plan now is to try to get it done tomorrow, but I have a feeling the weather won’t cooperate.

As to the SNF room conditions, sharing wouldn’t be so bad if the room were a smidge bigger. It’s very, very tight in there. Part of the reason we opted to try and get her in this place was that it’s right across the parking lot from the hospital AND her outpatient physicians. Also, although inconvenient for me, I tried to keep in mind the distance my sister has to travel to come out, so I thought saving her another 15 miles was a good thing. One of the places that accepted her is much closer to me and seems much nicer (from their website), but again, I was trying to keep in mind the convenience for doctor visits, as well as for my sister.

Well, I suppose I should get on with the day. I have lots to do besides the stuff listed above. You all take care.

Happy Thursday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. After that, it’s getting sheveled and going in for an MRI. Such excitement!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Oh yeah, while I was in Franklin, by the Clerk of Court, I renewed my license plate. This is my cool looking new plate:

Back home again. I got all boat window tracks cleaned and ready for the dry lube, which is due at Lowes on Tuesday. It says it’s for RV windows, but I think I can make it work. I also put down plastic under the dink supports tho I still need to do the masking tape before painting.

FCD needed to come home to finish making up the fuel lines because he didn’t have the proper tools on board, so we did soup and salad at Olive Garden. Then he headed home and I went back to the boat to finish the windows. I stopped for gas at $4.159 before it jumps back up again, even tho I didn’t even need half a tank.

I’d also run to Teeter for my cokes ($3.60 per 6-pack of half liter bottles) then to WalMart for some velcro. And when I’m done with this, I’m going to replace the velcro on the boat curtain tie-backs. Yep, excitement never ends.

Speaking of which - we’ve joined the e-bike crowd (waves to taters) Actually, we got e-trikes that we’ll use when we go places on the boat. FCD’s is gray and mine is glacier blue. Now we need to get bike helmets.

OK, gonna go rip out some old velcro.

Doing the Slides again, wasn’t horrible during the sort. Lot of damages(3 pieces of 90+lbs furniture) and abandoned International returns, so I was there till noon. I did my Senior Day shopping after work. In the parking lot there was an old school Land Rover parked next to a Bentley. Not something you see every day(unless you’re a frequent visitor to Balmoral). I did a can o’ soup for lunch, now it’s naptime.

So the Miracle Whip of English teas?

I’ve seen that Looney Tunes cartoon!

I gotta Han it to you for that Chinese pun.

Beware of Greek bearing gifts, unless it’s Feta. Then she can hoplite on over.

EL0?

Sounds like something you get when the check to the harlot bounces.

Well, probably not daily, but not as rare round here as you’d think, though admittedly Balmoral is about 2 hours drive away…

I still remember being at work early one morning at a tourist attraction and realising the entire contents of the car park was fourteen 1930s-ish era vintage cars and one landrover with a trailer containing a horse. Turned out there was a vintage vehicle event up the road and a bunch fo attendees had chosen my workplace to meet up first, as we had a cafe, so they could parade the last bit in convoy. The horse was sheer coincidence.

I need to remember to pick up a friend on the way into work tomorrow. Another now former stoodint, it was her last official day of work today and she’s bringing in 2 biiiig bags to take all her stuff home tomorrow. The bus is always packed full in the morning so I thought a car may be better for 2 biiiig bags, as it’s not much of a detour for me.

Other’n that, not much new. I am very much looking forward to the weekend, but this week seems to have flashed by.

Howdy Y’all! We had quality cee-mint pond time late mornin’ through early afternoon. Then we showered and accomplished nappage. We decided on a late lunch/early sup (I call it suppunch) of burgers ‘n fixin’s and fries. I am not in the mood to watch stuff so I think I shall spend some time seein’ whatup on teh intartoobz.

Have you been hangin’ around doggio?

Mollie ouchie! I am sure the dentist will be thrilled with a mold of your mouth. I mean, who wouldn’t be! Now I have Electric Slide on my mind thanks to your cool license plate.

Rilch thanks for the Izzy update.

Taters good for you to take a day for yourself!

red a MRI? What fun!

MOOOOOOM FCD and you will be the envy of the marina on those e-trikes!

Nuts with Balmoral so close, you should pop round for tea with Chuck and Cam sometimes. Surely they have the occasional peasant meet and greet.

It didn’t happen today. I originally scheduled it for tomorrow at the location on my side of town. Then I got an email from the podiatrist saying that I was scheduled for today on the other side. I called to cancel the one that I’d scheduled. The MRI place said that I wasn’t on the schedule. Now, I’ve rescheduled the MRI AND the next podiatry appointment.

Since I was within a couple of miles from her, I called Sis to see if she wanted to do lunch. I met her at her house and we found a little Indian lunch only place not far away. Their iced tea was awesome! I just had a couple of samosas, since I eat breakfast. Sis doesn’t, so she had saag paneer for the first time. 'Twas good all around. Supper will just be a snack, since I had more lunch than usual.

I was raised on plain black original Lipton, and will drink it till you pry it from my cold pleasantly warm hands.

Can we still be friends?

Well, okay also Earl Grey, but I’m loyal to Bigelow. And I enjoy jasmine green pearls if I’m feelin’ super fancy-schmancy. Those can be from any provenance, and if I can’t read the label, probably so much the better.

They make XL sizes of the blue glow-in-the-dark doggie harness I got for Monks.

Comes in hot pink, too.

Don’t even tell FCD just let him look out the window one night.

Go skinny dipping late at night?

Snerk.

I havta go online and order some eye makeup remover.

Why?

Because several days ago, a slightly lit Shoe wandered online & bought herself some “no budge!” waterproof eyeliner. (“My burfday ish comin’ up, I should treat myself! Yeah.”) Two of which arrived today, the last should appear in a coupla days.

Today’s arrival is sparkly black, and shimmery purple, and if you wanna guess how excited I’ve been to try them both … you would be correct. The last to join the party is a creamy grey that I’ve gotten before & enjoy - that one is a good balance between subtle & dramatic.

These two, though, better dial it up to eleven. I gotta close Saturday night, and I’d like to BRING IT :star_struck: while also not smearing.

I guess if I quit buying makeup I wouldn’t hafta buy makeup remover … a problem that would solve itself.

But. Y’all. Shimmery. PURPLE.

In my defense, each was around five bucks. I didn’t break the bank on these, so I guess I can splurge on some face wipe-off thingies so I don’t wander into work wearing the “I slept in my makeup, you got something to say?” face.

Of course I’m getting ads now for a super-glam, highly pigmented, creamy and sparkly TWENTY FIVE BUCKS EACH eyeliner.

… in really pretty colors. { pout }

In THOROUGHLY UNRELATED NEWS I semi-unwillingly worked about an hour anna half more than I was supposed to (there’s some illnesses going around the related franchise stores, including ours, and scheduling has gotten $%& lately) I was deputized to give one of the teenagers a ride home, and the SISTER of Alternate Manager who has been yanked from her usual store & riding herd with us yesterday and today - because A.M. is one of the sickies - gave me kinda puppy dog eyes while quietly saying that after I left, it would just be her & the other teenager.

I came back. { sigh } Really didn’t wanna, it was a gorgeous evening, but … she’s not super familiar with our store (every one runs things just a shade differently) and, I mean, jeez. Two people running an entire restaurant (until tonight’s half-shift showed up) so I came back. Eff it, I got a coupla extra bucks, I guess.

And possibly some goodwill. And karma?

Short nap, unaided by the grounds crew using super turbo leaf blowers. dinner tonight was a Mai Tai, with Smoked Paprika chicken, potatoes with Italian seasoning ans Parmesan cheese, and cheesey cauliflower. Spot had dry, flavorless bits.

A 12 story Chinese apartment building pun is Wong on so many levels.

Back from refereeing soccer, was Assistant Ref (the guy on the sideline) for a ‘youth’ (about 18 years old) ref doing a U10 and a U12 game, so got a little exercise and watched the young man do a good job of controlling kids (we adults helped by controlling the parents). So home after 8pm and a couple of Cheese dogs did me good, with bedtime looming not far ahead. Did pick up my prescriptions and do some gym sweating, so should sleep well tonight.

Taters, sometimes a ‘do-nothing day’ is needed, glad you had one. And yeah, maybe you erred on the side of practicality, but that’s a fair error for anyone.

red, hope your MRI wasn’t too noisy.

Mollie, neat plate.

FCM, e-trikes…those look interesting. May do a little looking around.

–Theme from ‘Jaws’ starts to play in the background…
And hopefully pictures will be forthcoming of you in your ‘eleven level’ eyeliner. And good on ya for helping out; hopefully the Karma will be redeemed sometime in the future.

And closing in on 10pm so Slumberland is not far away. Catch y’all tomorrow.

Happy next birthday, Cookie!

Dang, you’re old, Metal Mouse – he’s seven years ahead of me!

My favourite is Twining’s Irish Breakfast.

We went to see The Sheep Detectives this evening – pretty good. First time I’ve been to a cinema since October, 2015 (The Martian). Lady SCAdian paid, as the current prices weren’t such a shock to her.

Another guy started at the credit union a week after I did. He called in Monday and Tuesday. He didn’t call in yesterday, but he didn’t show up. I thought he must really be sick. I wondered if someone should call in a welfare check. He didn’t come in this morning. At a quarter 'til one, the Operations Manager (my direct supervisor) sent an email notifying everyone that he is no longer with the credit union. Also: Personnel issues a private. Did he find a better gig? It’s not uncommon for someone to have an offer or two after accepting another gig. Did he get written up, and decided to bag it? I thought he was picking stuff up more quickly than I. Something else? No idea. Anyway, now we’re short-handed.

Date Night tonight. We went down to Bay Breeze. I had a large Caesar salad w/o croutons, and a negroni. The Spousal Unit had a cup of clam chowder, smoked salmon cannolis, and a 9-ounce Cabernet Sauvignon.

I’ll just leave that there.
