(Old) It is getting cold in the MMP

I’m guessing letting Pretzel and Charm hunt their lunch wasn’t practical?

FCD called from the DC beltway. His GPS said he was about an hour away. HAH! Maybe if there were no other cars on the road and he hit every light just right… I’m figuring 90 minutes.

But the bed’s been re-sheeted and I put clean towels in the bathroom. I’ll do a quick rollsuck on the area rug, then plant myself in the recliner till he gets here.

I was briefly (sorely) tempted. But that would definitely get filed under “Trade one problem for another” and I got 99 problems
but a bitch ain’t one.

Probably not to most Mumper tastes, but to explain the joke:
I did get the chewed out tub cleared out (found 3 or 4 in there, who either never realized there was a party, or were too lazy to get off the couch … my kinda rodents!) and tossed the old one, cuz I do not feel like dealing with repairs. This batch keeps it up, they’re gonna be living in a (modified) glass tank.

Crappier ventilation, but it’s basically a glass-walled Alcatraz.

Hmph.

Okay, off to Long Night. In a nod to the holidays, I’ll be wearing green pants and red socks, not that anyone will see unless I point it out.

Gotta go brush my teefs and slap on some eyeliner. It’s Sattiday night, y’all! :pizza:

I borked up the spoiler code. Apologies to those with delicate sensibilities.

The preview is innocuous and we don’t have to click.

Howdy Y’all! Been an extremely slothful day today. Didn’t even have to walk all the way down to the mailbox because there was a package sent via USPS that was too big for the mailbox so mail lady brought it and the other mail to the garage. So, technically I have not been outside all day. OK we were on the back porch earlier but it’s screened in with a metal awnin’, so it’s like outside and inside at the same time. Rain is on its way as I post. The package was the rest of the Chistmas stuff for the names we picked from the givin’ tree, so that’s all ready to take to the church house tomorrow. YAY!

Pilot happy anniversary! Doin’ anything fun like goin’ to a fancy eatin’ place?

Wordy sorry you didn’t get to have your multi-cultural holiday thingy, but best to be safe from all the germs, I reckon.

Cookie sorry cookie makin’ got cancelled. You raised a wise daughter, however.

MOOOOOOM hope FCD is home soon if not already.

MetalMouse have fun soccerin’.

As it happens, it was about an hour. Someone tends to exceed speed limits a bit…

So it’s all good.

Isn’t Zillow great!!!

I guess interior facing kitchens work better for people who are more focused on inside entertainment, because the sink user in the new mobile would be able to watch TV instead of birds.

I wouldn’t be able to live with that kitchen anyhow, I have more storage under my island than that entire kitchen has. The kids across the street would probably be very happy because like many working families, they don’t cook and prepared foods don’t usually take many pans. No judging here, we didn’t eat nearly as well when we were working as we do now that we have time to cook from scratch.

Good memory, but actually I was worried about the light cause I like to sit out in the dark and look at the sky.

I think that you are correct that the master bedroom will be facing us which makes me happy.

There hasn’t been any activity today but all of the permits have been issued and the lot has been Blue Staked-when you call to have your yard blue staked, all of the utility companies who might have lines under your property will come out and mark where their stuff is so you don’t cut them. It’s not mandatory, but it is free and just takes one phone call, so why not?

I’m glad your parade had a good crowd. Those folks work so hard getting everything set up, they deserve people clapping and cheering at their work.

Absolutely. I’m sure you really wanted to give the lil fella a cuddle, but stay strong. You don’t want a couple of jealous cats!!!

I’m so sorry. I know you were looking forward to it. Can you reschedule?

Ohhhhhhhh man! That sucks, I know how much you look forward to them. Dang about the holiday party too, it sounds like it would have been a hoot.

Still and all…better to be safe than sorry. The shots can’t protect us 100%, we have to do our part too.

Yabut sometimes other problems are more entertaining than others…

It counts!

Our Cookies with Santa thing will be happening tonight. I usually drop in for 10 minutes or so before leaving with warm feelings about successful birth control in my life. I am in awe of the volunteers who smile their way through two hours of a sea of sugar fueled over-stimulated littles. Many of them don’t even drink!

Today I am bad mommy. Yesterday I washed all of the fleece and fuzzy blankets I have on the furniture (when folks come over I grab all of the blankets and hide them in my closet while my guests express amazement at well I’m able to keep the cat fur off my fabric covered furniture) and today I am washing their beds! The poor critters have nowhere to sleep but the cold, hard floor. :crying_cat_face:

I must get myself mentally ready to go to a thing this evening. A friend is having a 50th birthday gathering at the new location of the bar we all used to habituate. There’s gonna be people there. I’ll need to talk and stuff. I used to be better at these sorts of things.

Did the sat shopping trip today. My favourite Marshalls store closed, I had to cross Delaware avenue with my haul from home goods/tj maxx. I really liked that Marshalls.

I got a faux grass lab with Santa hat and jingle bell collar. That was fun to carry while playing frogger on Delaware avenue. It wasn’t heavy just bulky.

Then onto acme and target. Back home, put Beethoven on the stereo, ate lunch (vareniki), and started the seasonal decor. The bins have all been emptied, then filled with regular decor so there is room for the seasonal.

I have started with the reindeer area, needed a bit of a break so I’m waiting for dinner delivery. The cats are being very “helpful “.

I have put a bag in the good will bin, and found new homes for a tree shaped basket and reindeer coasters.

Wild times!

They all work, so weekends are the only option, really. My son showed up, but without his girls. It’s nice to see him, and he helped with the cookies, but I was hoping to see his daughters and have them see some history. Anyway, it’s all good.

Pardon me, but a WHAT!???!

Wet one, glad to hear your have regained much mobility.

flyboy, you handled a ‘delicate’ situation about as well as it could be done. Wonder if said cat will be wandering back your way again…

Cookie, sorry that a joyous occasion wasn’t quite as joyous as you hoped it would be. Hopefully the cookies will be remembered.

BBBoo, sorry you can’t see the grands, hopefully their Dad will recover quickly.

shoe, hope the rat-catching has been completed. And I actually know that tune.

FCM, I’m glad FCD got back safe and sound. Don’t let him try and do much tomorrow, he should be slothing like swampy and me.

Van Go, just sip at a drink and look interested at any conversation, drift around the room once or twice and head on home. Been there, awkwarded that.

Spent 5 hours at the indoor soccer, didn’t do much as they have done a great job organizing it, but did coach and ref a little bit. Home now to my Lean Cuisine dinner and slothing pretty much the rest of the night.

Did get a letter from my Credit Union that I haven’t checked my account in the last 30 days so I’ll have to jump through some on-line hoops to access it. The annoyance is that I only have a savings account with them that I act on maybe 2-3 times a year to either add money or withdraw, so not very active…wish they;d give me 90 or 120 days, that I could manage. Ah well, if that all I have to complain about, life must be good.

Have a good evening all. Rain’s due to start around 10-11am but be gone by the time I wake up.

Looks a bit like this, except astro turf, and less expensive. The cats were not impressed. It is softer than I thought, kinda like a wire haired terrier texture.

Thanks, all. If their dad, my SiL, isn’t still symptomatic and tests negative Monday I can pop in at Harriet’s school for lunch early in the week to get a quick grandkid fix. It’s over in about 25 minutes but she loves the surprise and makes her feel special. Of course, that’s because she is!

I need to test negative again today and one last time Monday before I can expose unwitting acquaintances and fellow shoppers to my possible plague cooties. Fortunately I’m done with literacy volunteer teaching til January 10th, our term break, so I’m not stranding students.

If I had some some tonic water I’d slug me some medicinal anti-plaque g & t’s a la swampy. Will have to rectify that lapse in self-care first chance I get. I do have a jug of Trader Joe’s (non-alcoholic) wassail in the fridge, just waiting to be heated up. I’ve been known to slosh some run into a steaming mug o’wassail if I want to feel all ye merry old England Christmasy. The rum (the darker the better) helps me not mutter “bah, humbug!” all scroogylike.

Now tomorrow I need to buckle down and make use of my kid free day and get packages sorted out and wrapped and ready to go to the post office Monday No Matter What. Right now it’s all jumbled in bags from the stores and spilling out of shipping boxes, just taunting me. First I need to clear a space in my sewing room so I have a wrapping table and shelf spaces to spread out and organize my piles for each person, plus a big space to the side for paper, tape, scissors, etc. Assembling supplies tends to help me avoid muttering swear words while I’m under pressure imitating an elf. Job one is finding scissors and tape. Job two is fending off the determined cat trying to shred the gift wrap and bite the ribbon faster than I can finish the wrap job. Inevitably the allergic giftees are the ones who end up with Siamese cat hairs trapped under the scotch tape of their gifts. I’d try shutting her out of the room but then she sits outside the door and mews piteously ruining whole ho-ho-ho merry and bright vibe.

That’s the plan, tho I may make some cookies and he may be forced into taste-testing… :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Other than that, chillage.

I haven’t had a window facing kitchen sink in a lot of years. Frankly, given the choice, in a house sized kitchen, I would rather have the sink facing the area where folks gather.

Deaf or ignoring you? :stuck_out_tongue: Sis said that she knew Nelson’s grandfather had lost his hearing when he could no longer hear the other dogs’ tags hit the metal bowl as a signal to come eat.

Didja get any anvils? :d&r:

I hope that this round of the plague is over by Christmas wordy.

I’m sorry about your daughter’s issues with her dad nellie. Some family is more trouble than they’re worth.

That sucks about spending cookie making time with the grands cookie, but it sounds like your daughter is being responsible about not spreading the cooties around.

The brunch was fun and it was good to see everyone. My niece was the one who got my dirty Santa bag and it was a perfect fit for her. I got the one that my great-niece’s friend brought and it had a small embroidery kit and a cloud projecter (batteries included!) for the ceiling. I’ll likely have some enjoyment out of that, then regift it to someone else to have fun with. The cheese grits casserole was a hit and we also had eggs benedict casserole, biscuits & gravy, flornetine egg bites, a berry tray and some butterscotch brownies. It was definitely a salad-for-supper night.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Happy Saturday!

It was a cold 29 degrees at the park this morning.
I lasted a half hour and it was time to go.
It’s been just Petey Dad and me as B/H Mom is sick.

Thanks for the phone info Red.
It is more than I want to spend, but I went with it anyway.
As another irritation, B/H mom was giving me grief for not getting a new phone already. In her mind, just go to the store and buy a phone. Phones are expensive, to me, so that means checking out different sites looking for the best deal, and I will have it delivered. Especially this time of year when I’m not going to any store.
Of course, I know a lot of the rush from her was because I wasn’t answering her calls because my phone doesn’t ring.

My son assembled the Buche de Noel. It was very rich. I think I would have liked it better without the ganache.

I’m not getting as much done as I would like lately.
I’m getting a little irritated with my son too; New Steam games came out and getting him to do anything is like pulling teeth. When he does do something, it’s haphazard and he runs back to his room to play games.
I can’t be too irritated though when I lack motivation too.

Smalls heaving went OK. I did the 300 slide at Second Sort. I took a some overgoods to the 200 slide and there was nobody there. :open_mouth: I did manage to get 2 of 3 address corrections onto the the package car, and dealt with the damages and retapes. Which got me 7 hours on the day. Did i mention the 6th punch(Saturday for me) is all time and a half during Peak.
Repetitive Work Earworm: Havana
Repetitive post work Earworm: Havana Daydreaming
Apprently I need a Cuba Libré

Hope you can get some Harriet time, Boo.

As do I. So of course my roommate likes cold and dark.

Spot: < sneaks up silently behind me >
Me: < flings covers back at naptime, bonks Spot on head >
Spot “You struck me, you treasonous orangutan!”
Me: “Sorry, dude.”

Dear lord, I thought “grass lab” was some sort of puzzling typo, but … nope. Okay, then.

My phone’s still shut off, and the :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: management co. still hasn’t cleaned up the f@#!& tree, so I worked out with Sweet Manager that on Tuesday, imma come in a bit early & use the store’s phone, so I can call and ask as politely as possible just what in fuck’s name is the goddamn holdup …

The rats were all staring up at me from their new tub, so at least they haven’t chewed out of this one (yet). No signs of any other leftovers still running loose (HA! Pretzel hasn’t even eaten yet and she’s already got leftovers) but these are a dedicatedly nocturnal species, so my insomniac ass should know more later tonight.

Or, hopefully, I won’t hear anything further. Monkey will let me know, for sure.

How many cats do you have felines lord over you?

Time for a bit o’the Devil’s Lettuce, and I suppose some sort of food. I haven’t made scrambled eggs in a while … or, oooh, there’s a thread right now that reminded me I haven’t made a one-eyed Jack (buttered grilled toast with an egg cooked into it - the thread topic is all about the various names for it) in a good long time, and I think the bread’s still good.

Cheers, y’all, and I’ll see some/most of you tomorrow “morning” for me, past lunchtime for many of you.

Today got eaten up with phone calls and a visit with Ms. Dog and her person, plus walking errands. I’ll try to catch up tomorrow.

In the meantime, I wish I knew someone to ask about this. The ortho doc said the bursitis in my knee would resolve within a year of the surgery (so by August 18th), but now I have TWO big bursitis bumps, and everything I read says the bursitis can last up to 8 weeks. Nothing about a year. The idea of spending another 8 months like this makes me very frustrated. If I knew someone who got bursitis post-knee replacement, I’d talk to them about this because surely I shouldn’t have to wait that long.

I thought about getting a second opinion but A) I’d have t travel quite aways since the big ortho clinic has pushed out other local ortho docs and B) I know docs are supposed to welcome second opinions, but I don’t think this one would, and I can’t afford to alienate him. I could see about getting a second opinion there at the clinic, but I’m not confident I’d get an objective opinion.

Hugs all around. I’m heading to bed.
