In case anyone wonders how messed up my brain gets at times: This is not the Simcoe Day long weekend for us. It’s Labour Day, which is, like, all over North America. Simcoe Day was three weeks ago.
I think I need more sleep.

Got some good news to share while taking a break from sweating. My Cologuard test came back negative so (as long as I am not part of the 0.2 percent of false negatives), I’m good for the next three years.
Now, back to the treadmill for 30 minutes at 3.4mph and 8 degrees elevation.
We bought the phone from and get service from Consumer Cellular. I’ve been all over the site (I’m pretty sure) and while I was able to find the “paperwork” from when we bought it, there was no IMEI number. We’ll figure it out.
I decided supper would be shrimp salad. And I made a somewhat disturbing discovery - when you cook and peel a pound of shrimp, you end up with 8.24 ounces of shrimp, assuming my degital food scale is accurate. Not amused… But it’s still enough for the two of us to sup upon with some left over.
Laundry is finally done. FCD is napping. I’m about to treat myself to some tablet game time. The rest of the day will probably be lazy. It feels like Saturday - so weird. Oh, and a guy is coming over tomorrow to have a look at the deck and ramp - we’ll see what his estimate looks like.
His car is just fine. He doesn’t need a new car, he wants a new car. He liked it just fine when he picked it out, its just that the new has worn off that’s the problem.
I got two going out of business ads from a couple of brick and mortar shops today.
What kind of floors do you have? What percentages are the mix?
Please.
That sounds pretty good, I think we will do that tomorrow. Except we have tots in the freezer instead.
We went to the butchers today and bought some of their pork chops. We will be trying them tonight, but so far we’ve liked all of the meat we’ve bought from them. Plus…their prices are lower than at the grocery stores.
I have seen and admired them, but wondered about the durability.
I love bassets, I think they are the best dogs ever. They are so cute and have the softest ears eveh. I even love their bay. I have never wanted to actually OWN a basset, I understand that they are a whole bunch of work.
Have a safe drive!
T’wasn’t where I thought you were.
I am home in SoFL. GF is in Nice, France on the cruise ship.
sounds great. But boy would she be pissed when she finds out.
Nothing wrong with that if the budget permits. As the saying has it
The only difference between men & boys is the price of their toys.
My pal the car guy is in his early 40s. He’s owned for his own personal use over 50 cars. Usually about 2 at a time. Few bought new, most used but newish. Keeps 'em 6-12 months, gets bored, sells them, & gets something else. Lather rinse repeat.
In a coincidence today I got a marketing email from the dealership in Wichita where I got my current car. Congratulating me on the 1 year anniversary of the purchase, and could my salesman interest me in buying a different one?
Not yet. Maybe next year. And probably not from them. It was just luck that when I was looking, out of all the dealerships in the USA those guys had that car.
I’m a tree hugger/anti-comsumerism sort of person AND he hasn’t had his new Harley for an entire year!
Plus I need to save my money for stitching supplies. #22 tapestry needles are now over a dollar each. Gold is probably less expensive ATM.
Why not?
The shop adjusted the traction cable, replaced the broken brake cable (the one that engages the blade), and sharpened the blade. They also ‘tested’ it. I got it home, and it started on the first pull. I don’t know if they did anything, or if it was warm from riding in the back of the Jeep; but it was nice. The only not-nice thing is that I didn’t have any help getting it out of the Jeep. I dropped it on my left-great toe twice. I came in to change shoes so that I could mow the front lawn, and it didn’t appear to have broken the skin. After mowing, I did see red. I wiped it with an alcohol prep pad, and put some triple antibiotic ointment on it. After a couple of hours I had a shower. Anyway, it looks like it might just be a slight abrasion. Looks fine to me. I’ll have Wifey, RN look at it when she gets home.
Got the checks from California. I need to send them down to San Diego so my sister can sign them, then she needs to send them back here so that I can sign and deposit them. I’m expecting a call from the tax place next week so I can get that sorted.
I vaguely remember that motion sickness results from conflicting info from different senses. Your sight tells you you’re moving pretty fast, but your kinesthetic sense of what your body feels like tells you you’re hardly moving at all. Your brain, confused by all this, decides to part with breakfast. This has not been a problem for me, knock wood, and suppose the same is true for most people. My evil dad developed it late in life, and he would ward it off by wearing a broad-billed hat and looking down at a book. I don’t really know much about it.
We’re having a cool spell here, with lows in the mid 40s and highs barely into the 70s. It’s still August, and I’m not ready to start switching to heat, but yeeesh!
I’ve just finished School’s Out Forever, the second in the Maximum Ride series, and I’m pausing that to read Shadow Of Grace, which the cover says was written by Without Warrant. That’s an odd name, says the guy who calls himself AskNott.
Aristotle Onassis’s yacht’s bar had barstools upholstered with the foreskin of a whale. He loved to tell lady guests about that when they were sitting there. That Ari, what a classy guy!
We got most of the exhibits for the water park in today. One of them I did not know was a used one that had been in storage in New Jersey for quite some time, so I had a lovely 2 hours of washing it out from where some critters had made a home. But now it is a lovely see-saw pump that works.
I’m also fighting with the CNC machine the museum owns. It’s really bad at Z-axis regularity. In my experience, Z-axis is the most troublesome. Also I discovered that it had been put together about 1/16" of an inch off on the X travel. I did manage to make a test part, but it dug into the spoil board a tiny bit as it was cutting.
The contractors got the huuuge reservoir (it’s a 6’ plastic sphere) into the ground in its new spot today, and I tried to spend several hundred dollars on some stuff, but even with our tax exempt info, the dude on the phone was like “please call back Tuesday when someone smarter than me is here.” I appreciate the honesty, but it doesn’t inspire confidence in the company. I’ll give them a pass since it was 3 PM on the day before a long weekend.
Steel toed shoes, my friend.
Howdy Y’all! Been a rainy and lazy day here in da cave. I believe we have taken RDOS inactivities to new heights. Or would that be depths? Hmmm… well, there was no debauchery (besides the usual), so I guess heights is correct. Sattidy’s forecast can best described as ICK. At least I will get to watch my DAWGS play tackleball. The forecast in Athens looks to be ick as well, so the game will be a soggy one.
We have medium sized iPhones. I wasn’t sure I wanted one, but iPads which I really like and watches which OYKW really likes were thrown in, so we decided to get them. I’ve gotten used to the iPhone and now I like it. One can make and receive calls and other stuff with the watch. How Dick Tracy!
They brought a new one in. They’ll be back Tuesday to switch the door hinges.
Mais non! The phone that FCD took in for repair, if it’s the model I’m thinking of, retails for $1K+, depending on the gigs of memory. $400 to get a phone under 2 years old is a good deal.
It’s the dryer that needs vented. I ordered the vent kit, but it was delivered somewhere else, so da Jungle is being notified.
Try going through the touchscreen on the car, bring up phone, settings, about phone and your IMEI will be right there. I had to do that with my last phone.
That too!
Sis and I went grocery shopping today. I never did find soy sauce or tissues, but did get everything else on my l. Restocking condiments is a PITA.
I got the paper station set up in the studio today after tearing out yesterday’s work and redoing it. Since Sis brought the star bit to tighten up the desk bolts, I can set up the desktop tomorrow. I’ve really missed it these past couple of weeks.
I’m down to 15 medium and small boxes to unpack now! They’ll take a while though, since I’ll need to go to the dollar store for some plastic baskets. Then it will be getting rid of the cardboard, getting the W/D set up and the old desk taken out. After that, I’ll look for a chair on Marketplace, hang stuff on walls and put down rugs. I see the light on at the end of the tunnel.
I would vomit and vomit and vomit. Nausea is complex.
Offer them up for free on nextdoor or marketplace. People always need moving boxes.
I’m glad you have a fridge, I do agree that stocking up after a move sucks bigly.
And once again, you prove yourself to be a super hero! I love hearing you sound so happy about your job and doggy and life.
So it was very nice today and we had the windows open, but it warmed up in the afternoon. We thought we should cool the house down a little and learned to our dismay that the AC part of our heat pump wasn’t ACing. The fan was running and the dehumidifier was pumping water out of the air but it wasn’t cooling.
Of course, it is a Friday on a three day weekend, when does any big thing break down at a convenient time?
We have it shut off now and the windows are open. The temp is dropping but I think I’ll be taking the thick mattress pad off the bed so we can sleep cold. I needed to change the sheets anyhow, its been three days.
Fingers crossed that it starts up again tomorrow, I’m comfy at these temps, Hubs is roasting.
And I just turned the AC back on and it works. I’m thinking that the only electronic thing in this place that we haven’t replaced is the thermostat. We will have that replaced ASAP.
At least I got off my ass and changed the sheets, I should have done it yesterday.
Up from naptime. Having a Monte Casino, spicy catfish, and Hatch chilies, beans, and rice for dinner.

Glad the Poop Cube was good to you.
It’s on on the box the phone came in. Assuming you didn’t toss it.
They are like beagles, but 50% drool-ier, heavier, and smellier.
Until you drop a 30lbs box of screws point down right above the steel toe.
That’s Sunday for me, along with comforter and color change.

Basset Hounds are a breed unto themselves, for sure. My one and only experience with one, name of Ziggy, traumatized me for life. I may have even told this story before.
Ziggy was a sweet boy. He loved greeting all the school children as they walked to and from the school. (Back when I was a girl, we walked both ways, up hill in both directions, no matter the weather and yada yada yada.)
I was about 6 when this happened. I had stopped at the neighborhood corner store and purchased a Big Hunk candy bar to enjoy on my walk home. I got to Ziggy’s house and as usual, Ziggy loped out to greet me. I skipped along, swinging my arms and enjoying his company. Ziggy followed closely, matching my gait. Then with perfect synchronization, he snatched away my Big Hunk and gulped it down in 2 seconds!
I always thought Ziggy loved me for me!
I didn’t like Ziggy so well after that.
Dachshunds are just smaller versions of Basset Hounds, so far as I can tell. What possessed me? Twice daily rubdowns with baby wipes keeps on top of the stank factor in between regular baths. At least he doesn’t drool.
metal mouse, so glad the news was good from the Cologard folks!
JtC, glad the AC is working, and I hope the thermostat change repairs it for good.
red, wow, you are a champion mover! I’m awed by how gracefully you accomplished it! Scritches to Nelson.
lily, congrats on the progress you’ve made on the novel! That’s so exciting, and one hell of an accomplishment!
Hogs and quiches all around, time to close lest this become a < cough > novella!
Mi Esposa had her leftover shredded beef enchilada for dinner tonight. I had a tuna-and-egg salad sandwich with Swiss cheese, a slice of tomato, and lettuce with margarine on one side. We both had TJ’s Cheese Bites.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s my Firday!(and a 2 day weekend)
