Yesterday I tried to move the downstairs couch, which included disconnecting the (heavy) arms and then reconnecting them upon discovering that I couldn’t budge the rest of it. I just want it a few inches to the right and then a few inches forward, but between the carpeting and the weight of the main section – which includes a chaise – it ain’t movin’. Even with furniture-moving pads under the feet. I’ve lived alone for a long time and have never had a piece of furniture that I couldn’t figure out how to move on my own…I even shoved my big solid-wood dresser across the carpeted bedroom myself shortly after I moved in! Anyway, it’s mostly alright where it is; I’ll wait until someone is around who can help me try to lift-and-shift.
I tell ya, though, my back is not happy this morning! Sitting in my Aeron desk chair is probably the most comfortable I can get/the best thing for it. But still, I’m not sure how happy to be about the fact that after this post I need to stay up here and work for a while before I can adjourn to the Lego table (aka my kitchen table).
At least I thought ahead when I was in the kitchen early this morning to take my meds and grab a protein shake, and I brought lunch up for later (a banana and an Uncrustable, for those who are wondering!). At some point I need to do laundry, but otherwise once I’m done working I can just chill today. And the Yankees game is on Peacock tonight!
I did start a new Lego set last night: I thought it would be the Shelby Cobra, but when it was time to actually open a box I wound up going for the Dumbledore’s Office book nook. I finished the small middle section before going to bed. There’s already a cool hidden thing: the Sword of Gryffindor is in a compartment under Dumbledore’s desk.
It’s going to be yet another long and busy week at work, including two separate projects – including the one I’m temporarily managing – having significant customer events. Like the 2-hour briefing that I’m facilitating tomorrow afternoon (which, luckily, is just virtual!). There’s also a bunch of annoying administrative stuff happening. And it’s gonna be +100°F Wed/Thu/Fri.
I said before that I’m really glad Friday is a federal holiday: knowing that it’s only a 4-day week will go a long way toward helping me get through it.
In happy news, though, the lease for the house I just moved out of ends on Tuesday: as of Wednesday morning I’ll no longer be responsible for anything there! I’ll pay the final utility bills in July, then all that will remain is to wait for my security deposits – both regular and pet – to be returned. The property manager told me on the phone that he agrees the house is in great shape and he doesn’t plan to charge me for the three sets of mini-blinds I hadn’t replaced, so I should get 100% of both deposits back sometime before mid-August (we’ll see). That will be a big relief, both financially and because then I’ll finally really be done with that place.
A 19% increase is a big deal/wonderful!
It’s hard to read, but that’s exactly what the “paper” in the typewriter says:

Ok, so, now I’m a little scared of your manager…
Nah: one was just Snoopy lying on top of the doghouse, and the other was Snoopy and Woodstock roasting marshmallows around a campfire (I put those pieces in a baggie in case I ever want to build that scene). I would totally buy a WWI Flying Ace set, though – and/or Joe Cool! I really hope they do more Snoopy sets in the future.
I inherited it when I moved in: my property manager told me that the refuse company switched to new recycling bins a while back, but “for some reason” they never took the old one away. My guess is that a previous tenant simply didn’t put it out when they should have. So I’m stuck with it, unless I decide to contact the company someday. But I really don’t need three trash bins – regular, new recycling, and the old one – taking up space in my one-car garage: I was happy enough to wheel the old one around to the back and park it out of the way. I’m never going to use the back yard/space under the deck, and I keep the vertical blinds on that sliding glass door closed all of the time (so I hardly ever even look out there).
Sounds like an excellent trip indeed! Hooray!
