Hello, hello, I’m here!
red, it sounds like you’re making excellent progress. I’m just sorry it’s all taking so long. I’m still gobsmacked that you went from living a normal life and facilitating a cross-country move just a few weeks ago to being incapacitated and bed bound, all due to an affliction I’ve never heard of. Scary, and I’m just so damned relieved you’re on the mend.
boo fae, hope you enjoyed the fundraising and are now into the most pleasant part of your day, watching bands! Chippy tea sounds delightful, too.
I will join you in hoping all is well with Lily and thank you for asking after me. I’m usually around but don’t always feel like cluttering up the MMP – my life isn’t nearly as interesting as that of others here!
Awesome that you’ve already got your holiday gift-giving handled. Not surprising, though. You’re one of the most organized people I’ve ever had the pleasure of learning from.
Lucky Spot, to be such a priority in someone’s life!
metal mouse, not much fun spotting meteors when you’re freezing your tuchus off. Wise decision you made.
swampy, you are my spirit animal in all things RDOS. Well done today, you!
Van Go, sounds like Miz Peach needs to head to the dog park before going to dog class! She’s a handful, for sure. Hang in there – it gets better.
flyboy, hope the communications issue improves soon. It will be hard not to worry if you can’t check in with your beloved spouse regularly. Try to keep good thoughts – I’m sure she’s fine.
It’s been a busy week that doesn’t feel terribly productive. Lots of little chores and some time wasters.
I finally tore into the guts of my automatic gate, a chore I’ve managed to postpone for several weeks, to see if it was a quick fix and… it wasn’t. I guess it will be a manual gate for awhile until I can decide on next steps. I may commandeer my kitchen table to take the armature apart and give it a good clean-up over a few days weeks. I also need to purchase some materials to replace a worn cable that keeps the gate balanced. It’s all going to take time and it is work I don’t do every day, so an AFGO (Another Fucking Growth Opportunity). I don’t love them.
Got my reprovisioning done yesterday, so I’m set for awhile except for periodic forays for fresh veg. I also spent time visiting with friends and made arrangements to have my right front headlight replaced. See? Life is a thrill a minute here!
As for weather, we’ve had unseasonably warm temperatures all week owing to a tropical atmospheric river passing through. Lots of rain, highs in the low 60s and lows in the mid 50s. (!!!) All the years I’ve lived here, the first couple weeks of December were the ones to watch for sub-freezing temperatures that could result in frozen or broken pipes, so the current weather situation is, well, disturbing. But it is what it is.
Ollie is well and we do seem to have solved his itching issues for the most part. Still, I think I’m going to switch him from a regiment of ½ an Apoquel tablet every other day to a daily dose of Zenrellia. I will hear what his vet has to say first, though. At least I’m only bathing him now about once a week. We’re both glad of that!
Take care, all, and I’ll try to be more regularly in touch.
