(Old) It's snacktime in the MMP!

Weatherapp says Today is a good day to go to a cuddle party.
Its 50s and cloudy but no thanks. Wendy Shalit went to one once and its just sad.

Thank you very much! Yes, very big relief

boofae hope the roadwork doesn’t continue too long.

lily wonderful that you’re able to walk the Camino again. I have wanted to do so for 11 years but no dice so far. Here’s hoping that I can do so in the next year or so; otherwise, it might be beyond my capability. Instead of the 500+ miles on the Camino Frances, I might have to reduce to the required 100km. Buon Camino.

{FCM} that does sound very frustrating/annoying. Probably makes you want to bang your head against a wall.

Wanted to write more but Hubs wants to go walk at the local ‘attraction’. TTYL.

Well, I’ve managed to make the kitchen and living room smell like fish. See, I wanted some breakfast; so I got a Trader Joe’s Mahi-Mahi patty out of the freezer and fried it in oil. (The sandwich also included American cheese and mayonnaise.) Fortunately it’s currently 58º Ferret Height here, according to weatherunderground, so I’ve got the back door open a little.

If you want to walk it, there are ways to accommodate acquired body issues.

Off to work. Short shift, so I’ll check back in with y’all later.

I don’t mind the “short shift” part, cuz I got shit to DO and I am hoping to get on at least some of it.

It involves playing with dirt and flower seeds.

My new glasses won’t be ready for at least another week. I was having a conniption about getting bifocals ("I’m OLD!!! WAH!") but I’m really looking forward (heh!) to the “regular” new glasses.
Current Rx is crap.

Speaking of smelly things, I was digging in the cheese drawer (for dinner later). There was a plastic container with something in it. I couldn’t identify it. Maybe some leftover cheese sauce? Anyway, it was pretty rank.

We have decided we’re cooking fish for dinner. I got some snapper filets out of the freezer to thaw. I need to go to the store to see if I can find some fish-fry (preferably Zatarain’s), and a head of cauliflower. Mrs. L.A. made queso dip a while back, and there was about half a brick of Velveeta in the cheese drawer (hence, the digging). It’s still good. So dinner will be fried snapper, with steamed cauliflower with cheese sauce. Yes, I’m being lazy.

The new raised bed is framed. I’m too pooped at the moment to take a pic, but I will eventually. MIL is snoozing - no shots, no meds, no degradation of her vision, so that’s good.

I got a text from the eye doc that my specs are ready. I’ll get them tomorrow. The rest of today is for chillage. I think supper will be forage.

Forage? You are going outside to pick supper? If so, theres nothing healthier!
I may have a salad of cucumber, tomato and dressing along with spaghetti.:green_salad::spaghetti:
Off to the library to pick up books which have come in: one by Miss Manners and one about Chris Farley.

Afternoon all. Typing this on my new-fangled wireless keyboard, tried to install it this morning and dropped the USB thingie behind the desk and it was too close to my eye Doc appointment to go fishing, so waited until I was done with that and I had pedaled some calories off to actually get down on the floor with a flashlight to find the little thing. Also found several pends, two paperclips and half a dozen glass wipes, so did do that much cleaning. Now waiting to see if the predicted rain for 4pm shows up or not, soccer practice is pending on it.

As for the eye appointment, went well, have a new prescription and two new pairs of glasses ordered. Eyes got dilated but they provided me a sunglass filter I could tuck inside my glasses so driving wasn’t a problem. My sight is still sorta odd, it’ll be a couple more hours before the pupils return to their normal size.

And it just started raining outside, we’ll see if it’s just a cloud or if it’s going to mess up practicing.

Sticky Buns, good on the donations and also clearin gout your house some…win/win in my book.

FCM, I have two Wal-Marts about equidistant from me and they insist on having the same stuff in different parts of their stores…frustrating. And yiou going all Genghis Khan on those plants game me a big smile.

Cookie, glad your feline overlord is pooping properly. Best wishes to your wife.

Shoe, the folks at the Doc’s office said one pari should be ready in about a week and the other pair (since they have to get insurance OK) should be about 2-2.5 weeks. Paid a nice chuck of change for them. so they’d better be right.

Coppertone, forage for us omnivores usually means looking in the refrigerator/freezer for any products that are nearing expiration    :grinning: Enjoy the reading.

OK, need to check the weather reports and the Field Status. Take care all.

The new raised bed:
Imgur
I’ll be using the scraps to fill in the gaps at the bottom, then I’ll line it all with a couple-three layers of landscape cloth. Next week, I’ll go to a local place for some topsoil. The bed on the left will be dug out some also to allow for fresh soil.

My second attempt at seedlings is underway - I’m seeing green bits in about half of the cups, so yay!

My supper was a bowl of cereal and some pretzels. MIL ate leftover pizza and berries. No clue what FCD will eat. So that’s my day.

Someone needs to stop this drama and nonsense soon. So, I had a good time at the AMC until I was chasing a little one who had something in his mouth that he shouldn’t. I took the thing out of his mouth and managed to trip over the equipment behind me and I fell straight backwards landing on the upper part of my back. I could still move fairly ok and they were short handed so I stuck around awhile and decided to come home when my ankle and neck started getting too ouchy.

Now that I am home, my mom comes in and says that we need to talk. She is feeling terrible and is going to take some particular medication and if it doesn’t work in a couple of hours, that she will probably want me to take her to the ER. I, of course, offered to take her to there right away and she said no. So for now I’m just sitting here with ice on my ankle waiting to see what we’re going to do. :unamused:

Mrs. L.A. just informed me that she ordered the The Thin Man DVD set. She wants to watch all of them, but there’s never a The Thin Man marathon. She exclaimed, ‘I want to see The Thin man!’ I said, ‘All right!! I’ll get more exercise!’

NOOOO!!! Stop doing that right this instant, young lady!

I hope your Mom feels better.

I hate it when I do that. It’s so annoying. At least nowadays I’m only dropping needles, if I can see them, I have a magnet on a stick to pick them back up. (Darn vaccines just don’t seem to work on me, I keep getting jabbed and I’m still not magnetic.)

When I met Hubs, his vision was perfect. I was already in bifocals, childhood measles got into my eyes and ruined them. After a while, he started having problems with close work, so got his eyes examined. Both of us expected him to come home with regular ol’ single-vision glasses. Nope, he went right into bifocals which outraged him all to heck. (I had measles before vaccinations came out. They got into my eyes and I was in bifocals by the time I was twenty, so I didn’t have as much sympathy as I should have had.)

It is excellent that he is feeling well enough to want to go out. I hope you had a great walk!

And we just got the inspection report. TTYL.

Another good reason for vaccinations. I’ve been wearing glasses since first grade.

Nelson used to intimidate the 120 lb mastiff two doors down.

That’s about the age I went into bifocals. I’ve been in trifocals now for the past 15 years.

Ouch sticky buns! I hope that your mom doesn’t have to go to the ER and you recover from your fall soonest.

Happy Paul Revere day!

Irked, came home, took Nelson to the dog park. We met a new doggy there today, in addition to some of the regulars. Her name is Winnie and she’s a dachshund - some kind of greyhound or whippet mix. She’s a low rider with the face of a weenie dog, but the belly lines of a whippet. Such a sweetie too!

Now, I’m getting ready to play around in the studio.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Same here, but I blame it on my connective tissue disorder. No vaccines for that!

I never had bifocals per se. The first time I needed something other than single-vision lenses, I went straight to progressives. They were actually pretty easy to get used to, and they look just like regular glasses. Would recommend.

Howdy Y’all! Doc and vampires got visited relatively easy even. I was in and out of there in under an hour. Then duties got done and we made pigs of ourselves at the hog trough GC. Nappage was achieved shortly thereafter. Day drinkin’ (margaritas out by the cee-mint pond, cause why not) was then accomplished. Much sloth also abounded. Now I be chillin’ on teh intartoobz for a bit until sleep time.

Coppertone it’s always ice cream season IMO.

MOOOOOOM what can I say but MIL is MIL and ain’t gonna change. Feel free to whine always.

WetOne ouchie! Glad you can get it fixed so soon and get to eat a patty melt. I now want a patty melt.

Taters you deserve the time off. Hope you had fun playin’ in dirt.

shoe bifocals ain’t so bad. I was all AAARRRGGGHHH when I found out I needed 'em, but they are so great, I wonder now how I got along without ‘em for so long and kinda kick myself for bein’ in denial for so long.

FlyBoy Zatarain’s fish fry is da bomb!

Unfortunately, I didn’t see any and had to use McCormick’s. It turned out well, though. I used the oven-baking directions for the first time. Mrs. L.A. ate the large piece of fish and large helping of cauliflower and cheese sauce I served her. Apparently she liked it. She says I can buy snapper again. We’re both stuffed. (Though after saying how stuffed she is, she went and got some chocolate. :stuck_out_tongue: )

Theres always room for dessert. I read somewhere what the physical reason is for that is, but it makes sense.

Well, duh! Not magnetic - radioactive! Try to keep up, willya???

Bifocals? Pfffft - amateurs! How about progressive trifocals for the win!!

Of course it is. How could anyone thing otherwise?

I helped MIL with her shower, then got myself cleaneded up - it feels good to rid myself of yard dirt and residual sweaties. Plus now I don’t have to shower in the morning!!

Forgot to mention, last night Guys and Dolls was on TMC. I’d seen bits of it over the years, but never all the way thru. Just one question - WHY the HELL did they cast Brando?? His singing was painful! Almost as bad as putting Peter O’Toole as Don Quixote in Man of La Mancha… but I digress. As I was watching Brando et al, I was wondering how it could be remade but set today. I don’t know if it would work.

OK, no more deep thoughts. Gonna read for a bit then crash. MWAH!!
