Report-format files are coming back to haunt me. El Jefe doesn’t want me to spend my time writing programs, so when a company changed their a/r system I was hoping to let our National Database handle it. (And BMCRA should be able to handle it – I hope. Their large programming staff makes more than I do.) But our database programmer says she can’t use them. Report-format files are a massive pain in the ass. The Aging file looks fairly easy. (If the customer number column isn’t ‘whatever’, write the customer number and address to working storage. If the summed balances column starts with ‘Customer Total’, write the amounts to working storage and then write the combined record to output.) The Customer file is a mess, but I think I might be able to just say ‘If this column isn’t “these”, write the account number and business name to output.’ I should be able to ignore the addresses (which lack state- and ZIP codes) because the Aging file has them… only the street address, city, state, and ZIP are all in one field. At that point, I should have a couple of flat files and I can let the database programmer deal with them. (I don’t know how she’ll separate the addresses, but we’ll see what she does.)
TL;DR: Just ignore me. I’m thinking out loud.
I’ve taken the traps about 150 feet from my house to the end of the cul-de-sac and about 10 feet into the woods before I released them, when they dashed off in the opposite direction. So it’s not impossible (the memory and tracking abilities of mice are not my field of expertise), but I rather doubt it. However, as I said before, the next one gets a 3 mile ride to the country before freedom.
Shopping is done, used a digital coupon so the $9.99 per 12-pack Pepsi only cost $4.99 each, might go back and get a couple more at that savings (but soda prices are still way to high, IMHO).
Lunch has been lunched upon and just waiting for it to settle before heading off to backstroke time.
Coppertone, I use a wrist BP monitor on a regular basis, I vary from say 123/71 to 145/76 sometimes within 24 hours. Might be the way I configure it or the time of day or how active I’ve been, I don’t know. 122/70 ain’t bad.
Onward!
Wifey, RN calls her patients the day before she visits them; or on Fridays, if the appointment is for a Monday. She just got off the phone with one of them, who seemed a bit confused. After hanging up she said, ‘It sounds like she had a stroke. I wouldn’t be surprised. I wonder if her daughter will have to put her into a nursing home.’
This patient has a cat that she wants to give to us when she dies. (The patient, not the cat.) Wifey, RN told her we’ll take her. I hope the patient doesn’t die or is otherwise incapable of keeping Fluffy. If that happens, I hope Goo and Abbey will accept her.
Hugs for hippy.
And for Coppertone, too.
So far today my mom seems better (but I haven’t told her yet that I fell last night). I’m going to have to tell her soon because I decided to go to the Orthopedic Urgent Care up North after I take MusicMan to work. My left hip is stinging very bad no matter if I am walking, sitting, laying down, etc…. Incidentally, this is also the same side that I have the brace on my leg.
Ah well, the fun and excitement continues. And I figure while I’m up there I’ll stop in at my dad’s storage unit and see if I can get in and poke around. I doubt it will happen, though, because he got a text that I could see on his watch saying that payment is due.
Thank goodness medical science has progressed as far as it has. I have hopes that this won’t impact your life much and that you will soo be posting about your complete recovery.

Worked the polls for the primary election a couple weeks ago – the usual long day, 0515-2030. Got paid today – $300. Makes up for the pain of getting up in the middle of the night like that.
I know. I am wondering what I’m doing right that is a great number.
Hippie, sending you good vibes.
Thank you.
Occupancy inspection is done. There are a bunch of thin the we need to fix, mostly annoyances, most of which I expected (GFCI outlets installed in various places, fixing a door that doesn’t close, reinstalling a handrail in the external stairwell), a couple I wasn’t expecting (badly installed electric that I need to fix, putting the garbage disposal wire in conduit), and a couple that are bothersome because they shouldn’t have happened (the plumbing company patched the holes on the wall that they made for our stack replacement but missed one, and the paint is peeling on one side of the house, despite paying a lot to have that professionally done a few years ago). It’ll all get done, but it’s just more stuff to do, and more money to spend.
But it’s done, and there are no major fixes to do.
Yes we did, thank you. The location has a train around the perimeter. We took it about 2/3 of way around the property then walked through. At one point, probably after 1/3 mile Hubs got pretty tired so sat down at a picnic table. I spotted a custard stand so went and got a chocolate cone for him and an expresso-chocolate swirl cone for self. After slowly enjoying these and watching a lot of folks walking by, we sauntered out. Hubs ap said we went .8 mile. So that was great.
In the morning we had gone to the normal weekly checkup. His white blood cells and neutriphyls are both in range now. YAY! Although his lymphocytes (sp?) are not close to the lower end of acceptable range. His platelets are pretty close to low end of range. So, pretty good lab results. And the Dr said that possibly next week they might remove the tri-fusion catheter meaning no more infusions. So, I’m crossing my fingers for that.
Alarm went off at 5:47am. Once up printed documentation from home, then went into the office and prepared the entries needed for M, Tu, W. Came home to give Hubs breakfast and morning pills. Noticed I had left my Iphone at office so quickly completed grocery list then picked up phone, stopped at storage facility and paid for next month then Krogered. Ran in to a good friend at Kroger and we caught up for about 20 minutes. Once home made lunch for Hubs (SWn black bean soup & roast beef sandwich) and for self (banana on toast with Spiced Chai Almond Cashew Butter Blend).
Going to take a nap now.
I finally got my glasses, but they don’t seem right. The prescription was changed so I’ll give them a few days. Tomorrow will be 8 weeks since I had my eye exam and the order was (theoretically) placed. Insanity.
While I was folding laundry in my bedroom, I heard MIL go into the hall bathroom. Then I heard bad sounds and rushed in there - she was very wobbly and about to fall - the sounds were the walker hitting the tub and wall. I hate to think what might have happened if I’d still been in the basement. It must have taken a lot out of her - she went right back to bed afterwards. She sleeps a LOT…
I pulled a lump of spiral cut ham out of the freezer (I’d cut the ham into meal-sized lumps for future meals.) I’ll figure out sides later. Now I’m going to read. We’ll see how the new specs do.
The patty melt was most excellent. I also had some fries which were most excellent. At home slothing and watching Law & Order.
Glad you finally got them! You were a good sport about it.
I often have that same experience with new glasses~I have to fight the urge to put new ones back into the case and shove it to the bottom of my bag. Fortunately my advanced age has brought (finally!) a modicum of patience and I’ve found that if I wear the new ones all day when I get them, no matter how ‘off’ they seem, then get a night’s sleep and put them right back on in the morning, the new ones are fine. Something about not switching back and forth and sleeping on it somehow works a positive reset. There’s only been one time that didn’t work and I had to go back and get them remeasured and remade. Here’s hoping that works for you!
I’m pretty sure I need to take the glasses back. I tried to read and I couldn’t get both eyes to focus together. I’ll try again in the morning when my eyes are rested, but I’m not optimistic. Dammit.
Howdy Y’all! Much slothage has ensued at da cave today. Did the chili/cheese/onion/slaw dawgs for N.O.L. so the afternoon was taken up by nappage and fartfest. I am goin’ to watch the Ordination to the Priesthood of a friend via livestream at seven p.m. Tell me I don’t know how to live it up on a Firday night!
Hippie yikes! Sorry to hear this. Hopin’ it was caught early and can be treated and done with soonest.
Mumpers flung a cravin’ on me, I fixed a patty melt with a salad for supper to appease the burger gods.
House is cleaneded, laundry done, bed made, groceries bought and prescription picked up. I was going to take Nelson back to the dog park this afternoon, but it was sprinkling on the way home, so I just suited him up and walked him.
Good evening all. Swimming was swum and it looks like the rain showers are giving us a pass, still very cloudy and dark, but nothing on the radar right now, so need to make up my soccer lineups for tomorrow (which will be messed up because someone can’t make it) and lay out the stuff I will need. Also need to set my alarm clock for 6:15am so I’m up early enough (based on past experience, this means I will be wide awake at 5:45am…). Eating my big bowl O"Sallit right now, may need to snack later, only have eaten 1,800 calories today and with the exercise figured in, I need to keep up my basic energy levels.
Sticky Buns, hope the Docs can help, falls are no fun once you pass about 50 or so.
Herald, doing well while doing good; nice combination.
verwirrt, glad the inspection wasn’t too bad, hope the work can be done quickly and relatively painlessly (to you pocket, of course).
Cat Glove, 8/10 of a mile is a pretty good walk, now he can build from it. And hope the numbers keep improving.
FCM, so sorry your glasses aren’t working like you want. Think you are wise to give them a few days, sometimes you eyes adjust but your brain takes a little time to ‘rewire’ things to accept the info coming in-but if you think they are FUBAR, then by all means take them back; your eyes are important. And MIL may just sleep away one day, but until then I hope she does try to let you help some more.
OK, need to finish up the Salad and get working on the lineups, y’all take care now.

But I had a gin&tonic,
Cool!
