(Old) It's snacktime in the MMP!

LOL!

TIL that crisping up a slightly stale tostada shell in the toaster, while probably theoretically sound, is a bad idea in practice. Toasters shouldn’t produce that much smoke. No actual flames, so no harm to live occupants (just had to open up for fresher air, which is not a bad thing anyway) and I didn’t see any evidence that the toaster itself was damaged.

Guess the next try is with the air fryer (well, the AF lid for the Instant Pot). For one or two tostada shells, using the oven seems like massive overkill.

Go Hubs!!! That is really impressive considering how sick he was. You’ll be doing the entire walk in no time at all

I guess we will need to have an inspection done as well, there are a few dings and dents here as well. Or not, if we know about a problem, we have to disclose it and we don’t have any big things to worry about. We’ll give the new owners a check for a few grand at closing so they can have the ramp painted themselves.

Well, that bites. I’d be having a failure of confidence with the optical shop by now. I hope it resolves soonist.

Are you me? Doesn’t matter how tired I am when I go to bed, if I have to get up, I’m awake early. Never fails.

We got the second set of patterns for the mystery piece yesterday. I printed a copy for Mom and was going to take them to the post office today but changed my mind because I’m going to town for a boob squishing on Monday. The local post office did something with the patterns I sent her last time (the first set was sent out on the 21st and showed up yesterday, the second set was sent out on the 28 and showed up last week. The corrections still haven’t shown up and I’m concerned she will get them next week and get really confused.), so I wanted to send them off while I was in town to see if that worked a little better.

Today we got a corrections. So maybe I’ll just wait a week before mailing this set out. (I had really hoped that Kathy would get her mind back on business after the honeymoon, hopefully this will be the only correction she needs to send out.)

Won’t you feel bad when he packs up his catnip and moves out?

So…I had a talk with hubs about GG being loose in the car and now we are going to get a wire dog kennel (already ordered from da jungle) that will fit in the front seat so GG can see one of his slaves during the trip. He will have the leash and harness on while in the hotel room because we are not going to lose him on the trip. (I think GG won’t be happier to be able to see, but it is the best compromise I could come up with. We can always cover his kennel if needed.)

I’m seriously worried about getting out of here before summer really hits, it was in the low 80’s today and it will be heating up next week.

Good news! The Missus bought us pizza for dinner!

Bad news! Carbs.

But… pizza.

He doesn’t like catnip.
but I like the cage idea for GG. Flexible for whether he wants vision or darkness.

Yes!

Thanks. He’s going to be sedated for the three day drive so I think he would do better in the dark, but hubs tends to anthropomorphize (and no, I didn’t even try to speel that one myself!) our pets which is usually adorable, but not in cases like this.

For extra peace of your mind, consider getting an Air Tag collar for GG, so if the worst happens and he runs out the door into the hotel hall, you can find him with your phone.

….Reflective AirTag Cat Collar, FEEYAR Integrated GPS Cat Collar with Air Tag Holder and Bell, Safety Elastic Band Tracker Cat Collars for Girl Boy Cats, Kittens and Puppies [Blue] https://a.co/d/7lpv7IB ….

That’s just the pet safety collar, you still need to get an Air Tag to put in the collar. Air tags work great~I use them on my keys, my wallet, my backpack with my medicine when I travel. They’ve saved my sanity many a time. They’re incredibly easy to Bluetooth pair to your phone, even I can do it, which is saying something. My daughter uses them to pin to their kid’s clothes when they are traveling away from home. The 6yo is autistic and ADHD and ‘elopes’ and the 2 1/2 yo is, well, 2 1/2 and both are faster than a speeding bullet. Of course since they’ve gotten them they haven’t needed to activate them but they do bring peace of mind to the grownups.

Thank you SO much for that wonderful suggestion. He’s pretty fearless when he’s not in a car, when he goes to the vet, he just wanders around the office checking things out before sprawling out on the bench beside his slave. He wouldn’t run out the door because he was scared, he would want out to see what was on the other side of the door.

Sounds just like the afore mentioned 2 1/2 year old~fearless+insatiable curiosity!

{{hippie}} well good that it seems to have been caught early. Both Dad and FIL had it and the treatment wasn’t too onerous and both were cured 100%. Having a good thought for you and will say a prayer.

Those are the ones that SIL bought and the lids are VERY tight meaning that sometimes I had much difficulty getting them open. [old hands]

Spot plays lacrosse? has lacrosse stick?

excellent idea. Hubs got one for my keychain for Christmas and it’s been used/activated a number of times; would be even more useful for a lost pet.

JtC have been waiting with bated breath to find out if inspection report was positive and bid tendered.

So… Snacktime.

Today I received a dry ice-packed parcel containing English bangers, back bacon, black pudding, and haggis. I’m going to make bangers, bacon, black pudding, and eggs for breakfast one day this weekend. The bacon is kinda large. I may make a half-rasher each (plus one banger and one slice of black pudding and two over-easy eggs) for The Missus and me. No beans, no mushrooms, no fried tomatoes, and no fried toast. There’s no way my wife would eat all of that. I don’t know if she’ll finish the sausage, bacon, and black pudding.

So a shout-out and pretend gold medal to the lady who rolled up to the window about 5pm ish, looked me dead in the soul, and said, “It’s weird seeing you in daylight.”

Me, internally: W. T. FUQ??

Apparently, she usually orders late at night after her shift is done, but … not knowing that - and not recognizing her - gave me one helluva weird moment.

Also, I guess “Hello” was out of the question.

Pretend silver medal to the guy who … :rage: grrr!

Okay, guy at my window, we’re finishing the transaction, no problem. I tell him to have a good night, and he goes, “Uhhh … so just to let you know?”

Me: {oh god, what fresh hell awaits me? }

“That guy that pulled up behind me? He just parked and went on in.”

Me: { blinking in confusion, and also dimly aware that a new conversation has started in the lobby }

“Yeah, he’s blocking your drive-thru?”

Me: “Thanks, i appreciate you letting me know.”

Turn around, and sure 'nuff there’s a weird looking guy who kinda resembled Doc from “Back to the Future” yammering at one of my crew, who’s slicing pizzas as fast as she can.

Me: “Sir, are you … parked IN the drive-thru?”

And he just goes, “YUP!” like it’s no big thang.

(For the record: we have a parking lot. With, yanno, actual parking spots?)

“I thought it’d be faster if I came inside! Can I just pull up to the window instead?”

Me: “Yes.”
Internally: { that’s how a drive-through WORKS ffs!!! }

Pretend bronze medal I think is gonna be internal, and a bit belated b.c. it was actually for yesterday’s shift, but Car(e)less Co-worker took a solid 40 minutes to produce crusts for us to start on yesterday.
That means 20 min till open and we didn’t have jack diddly squat.
For context, we often have everything good to go with five or ten minutes to spare before open.

That means 3 smalls, 3 mediums, and an entire rack (I think it holds 10?) larges, all set up with sausage & pepperoni, ready to roll.
That way, when the phone starts a-ringin’ we can jump on that shit politely phrased order.

I had a quiet grumble AT S.M. about it (I knew she already knew, but I wanted to grumble anyway) and I could tell she was frustrated by the whole situation.

Whaddya gonna do?

Hopefully tomorrow is a better day. Meanwhile, imma go wander over to the gardening thread so I can think happy thoughts.

Sounds like it was a pretty easy night! Ducks and runs away from flying half proved dough balls.

Mostly I came back online because my BFF told me that she didn’t actually get to see the eclipse because of family. She did see this one and every time I watch it, I just laugh at the WTF DUDE look on the “moon’s” face.

ETA, turn your speakers down before you click on the pic to get to the video.

Too late to edit, but just wanted to assure everyone that I have done everything needed to allow you guys to safely click on something that shows a TikTok tag. It won’t take you to TikTok, it will take you to flicker where it was downloaded from my email account. You won’t go to the bad place when you click on the pic, you will just go to flicker.

Thank you, for protecting us, and also, for posting that.

Might have been the best version of an eclipse video I’ve seen in a while.

Spoiler: click only if vids of grumpy cats make you giggle.

Happy 4/20 to all who celebrate (which should be everyone). :slightly_smiling_face:

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave

“Every morning when you wake up, eat a live frog. The day can only improve after that” - Annon.

Spot would lacerate me if I did that.

Dude

(and next year it’s Weedster)

I’ve been going there for well over a decade and this is the first time I’ve had a problem. So I won’t be dropping them yet, but they’re on probation. Or their lab is.

I put the new specs on first thing this morning, thinking maybe it was eye fatigue yesterday. Nope, the focus is still off. I can’t read a page on my little tablet without moving either the tablet or my head. That ain’t right. The office opens at 9 this morning - I intend to be there shortly thereafter.

It’s also clean-the-critter-fountain day, and Roxy’s b-day-party-with-friends day. I asked Daughter how many kids there would be. She said “a bunch” - kids from her class, kids from her preschool, kids from her bus stop, and kids of Daughter’s friends. Should be interesting, and I’m hoping it’s a smaller bunch. I’m also glad the weather’s good because my basement was the backup and it’s in no shape for “a bunch” of kids, especially with three sets of mattress/foundations down there. Anyway, that’s my plans, so far.

Happy MetalMouse Day!! Party on, old dude!!!

Happy Saturday to all others!

Lately I seem to wake at 5:00am no matter what time I get to sleep.

Have fun at soccer practice today!

Just found out that Annie accidentally got locked in the laundry room last night for a couple hours. She’s fine, but my mom feels bad.

The ortho doc yesterday did X-rays and there are no obvious fractures. Yay! She just gave me a prescription for a high power anti inflammatory and some stretches to do along with ice. I do already feel better this morning.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 65 Amurrkin out and N.O.S. with a predicted high of 85 with some rain showers throughout the day. Or not. TWPTB are all willy-nilly on this. High sloth, general overall uselessness, nappage, and day drinkin’ are on the agenda, as is our wont. Any need to feed will be via forage. I did not get to watch the ordination last night. I clinked on the link and there was the “startin’ soon” announcement thingy, but it never started. Oh well.

verwitt glad the inspection was not too bad. Some things are always goin’ to be found and these sound relatively painless and hopefully not too expensive to fix.

Cat_Glove yay for hubs on the walk!

shoe people be beyond weird, but you already know that.

JtC that was funnnneeee!

And now this…

< AHEM > CLEARIN’ THROAT < AHEM >

HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!

HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day!

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Just a bit ago, I heard MIL’s alarm (OK, it was Alexa) go off. I have no idea why she needed to wake up at 7AM! And on a Saturday - it’s not like she’s got a Dr appt or anything. But all she did was say “Alexa, stop” and go back to sleep. To say I’m perplexed is an understatement.

She’s obsessed with the time - constantly asking Alexa what time it is, or asking us. She refuses to go to bed if it’s “too early” regardless of how tired she is, so she’ll fall asleep sitting in her chair till it’s time to go to bed. We’re both wondering if it’s the start of dementia. It’s just so weird.

On FB, there was an invite to the 90th b-day party of our high school choir director. Today is his birthday, but the party will be in July. I have no intention of going, but I couldn’t help but wonder what they’ll do if he dies before July…

Even if it wasn’t so far away (in Baltimore), I wouldn’t go - I was in his choir more than 50 years ago. I wasn’t a soloist or anything else memorable, so it’s not like he’d miss me. I have a hard time wrapping my head around the notion of people being so attached to their high school years. It’s one small bit of time - I feel sorry for those who say it was their happiest years - how sad was the rest of their lives?

Or maybe I’m just an old grouch.

I need a shower and proper going-out-in-public attire.
