So a shout-out and pretend gold medal to the lady who rolled up to the window about 5pm ish, looked me dead in the soul, and said, “It’s weird seeing you in daylight.”
Me, internally: W. T. FUQ??
Apparently, she usually orders late at night after her shift is done, but … not knowing that - and not recognizing her - gave me one helluva weird moment.
Also, I guess “Hello” was out of the question.
Pretend silver medal to the guy who …
grrr!
Okay, guy at my window, we’re finishing the transaction, no problem. I tell him to have a good night, and he goes, “Uhhh … so just to let you know?”
Me: {oh god, what fresh hell awaits me? }
“That guy that pulled up behind me? He just parked and went on in.”
Me: { blinking in confusion, and also dimly aware that a new conversation has started in the lobby }
“Yeah, he’s blocking your drive-thru?”
Me: “Thanks, i appreciate you letting me know.”
Turn around, and sure 'nuff there’s a weird looking guy who kinda resembled Doc from “Back to the Future” yammering at one of my crew, who’s slicing pizzas as fast as she can.
Me: “Sir, are you … parked IN the drive-thru?”
And he just goes, “YUP!” like it’s no big thang.
(For the record: we have a parking lot. With, yanno, actual parking spots?)
“I thought it’d be faster if I came inside! Can I just pull up to the window instead?”
Me: “Yes.”
Internally: { that’s how a drive-through WORKS ffs!!! }
Pretend bronze medal I think is gonna be internal, and a bit belated b.c. it was actually for yesterday’s shift, but Car(e)less Co-worker took a solid 40 minutes to produce crusts for us to start on yesterday.
That means 20 min till open and we didn’t have jack diddly squat.
For context, we often have everything good to go with five or ten minutes to spare before open.
That means 3 smalls, 3 mediums, and an entire rack (I think it holds 10?) larges, all set up with sausage & pepperoni, ready to roll.
That way, when the phone starts a-ringin’ we can jump on that shit politely phrased order.
I had a quiet grumble AT S.M. about it (I knew she already knew, but I wanted to grumble anyway) and I could tell she was frustrated by the whole situation.
Whaddya gonna do?
Hopefully tomorrow is a better day. Meanwhile, imma go wander over to the gardening thread so I can think happy thoughts.
