(Old) It's snacktime in the MMP!

Just a quick note. Up early but managed to stay in bed until the alarm. Trapped another mouse and this time I drove it 2 miles before letting it go, so it’ll have to be the resurrection of Daniel Boone to get back if it’s the same critter. Need to dress for soccer, it’s cloudy and in the 50’sF and not due to get much better (no rain, fortunately). Catch up once soccering is done and I’m back home. Have a good Sattiday all.

The Ms. had her first PT session yesterday for the sciatica. Despite the foot-dragging and dithering (she’s a world-class ditherer), I think she liked what went on there. She got some print outs of exercises to do at home. I hope things improve for her, as she’s been in some real pain with this.

I think frog bread is in order for breakfast today.

Spring has suddenly exploded all around us after that torrential rain on Monday. Most of the trees are budding, and lots of irises blooming.

Thank you all for the support

We love our mump friends.
Weather app says Meh. Its sunny. Yeah, but its also 45 and windy.
Books to read.
Getting nervous about my future colonoscopy. Its not it, its the Can I eat the right foods, can I fast, can I find someone to pick me up after?

Whoa. Dude. 4/20/2024 backwards is 4/20/2024.

Happy burp-day, metal mouse!

Happy birthday metal mouse!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. About the only concrete thing on the agenda today is hitting the grocery outlet. It was sprinkling again when I took Nelson out and we’re slated for more sprinkles throughout the day, so likely no dog park. :frowning:

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Mornin’ everyone.

It’s 43 degrees Fahrenheit and sunny outside. We’ll have sunshine this morning and into the afternoon. Clouds will move in late afternoon, followed by light rain. Our high temperature is expected to be 74 degrees Fahrenheit.

sticky buns, I’m glad everything turned out well at the doc.

FCM, I’m sorry the glasses aren’t working out. That isn’t very pleasant, and I know it’s because it’s happened to me.

cookie, I’m glad the wife’s PT session went well.

Happy Birthday, Metal Mouse!

shoe, people be weird and annoying sometimes. The guy parking in the drive-through takes the cake. I’m sorry Carless Co-Worker continues to be such a pain in the hiney.

I spent nearly five hours digging in the dirt, cleaning out old planters and containers, adding fresh soil, weeding out and amending the soil in the flower bed beneath the great room window and the raised bed garden, and finally, planting the plants I did manage to purchase the other day. I have a long way to go, but it’s a start and looks better than it did. I was tired at the end, and that activity produced well over 10,000 steps.

I need to go to Mud Bay today to pick up puppy chow. There’s a new Ace Hardware in the same parking lot, so I’m going to see if the dirt/rock sieve is there. I’ve raked up most of the rocks in that portion of the lawn, but I need to shake all the dirt and stuff off of them. Also, having one for the weeds would be handy so I can shake the dirt off. I usually shake and beat the roots when I pull the weeds, but breaking it off is more challenging if the dirt is damp or wet.

If things turn out right, we might bathe the dogs on the patio today. They both need a bath, and it would just be more efficient to do it outside. They also need a bath and good brushing, but brushing them is also a challenge because as I brush one, the other attacks the brush.

There are days when I miss Polar’s old-man zen and calm. I could garden outside, and he’d lie on the lawn watching me. If I moved too far away, he’d pick himself up and move closer but always stayed out of the way. After I was done planting, he’d come over to “inspect” the work and sniff the flowers. I’ll even miss him insisting on peeing on specific plants and killing them. He’d pick a plant or two and make a point of peeing on them repeatedly. I learned to live with it; it was just one of his quirks.

I couldn’t let the pups in the gardening area yesterday, but they hung out next to the fence, fussing at me while I was digging, weeding, and amending.

Alrighty. I need to finish my coffee, finish loading the dishwasher, and start my day. Everyone take care.

Happy birthday metal mouse!

I got some of the backstory on my specs. I met the new manager at the doc’s office - she’s been there a week!! For whatever reason, the kind of lenses I used to get weren’t available, so they substituted a different one that had a smaller field of vision. Then somewhere along the line, the lab broke one of them so they had to re-make them… plus other drama. Anyway, she re-ordered a pair with the lens material I’ve always had and they should come in next week. Maybe.

I’m starting to wonder about the staff there - I like the doc, but the rest are all new faces and I just wonder…

I’ve loaded the truck with the stuff I need to take to Roxy’s party. MIL got up, had breakfast, then lay down on the couch and went back to sleep. FCD is going to talk to the hospice folks on Moanday. We’re both at a loss as to what to do. Never a dull moment.

Happy Birthday Metal Mouse :birthday:
If you have a can of spray paint handy, I’d suggest a spray burst on to the back of the next non-metal mouse. If no can handy, consider buying a small can of a neon color, like neon pink.

Maybe if you’d clicked on the link rather than clinking on the link, it would have worked. (did you clink the link with your highball glass?) [giggling and zig-zagging away while ducking]

FCM I hope there are no more mixups/mishaps/murphyisms on your new specs and that they are available soonest.
Happy Friend’s Party Birthday to Roxy. :cupcake:

When our daughter and Bella were here for the first 6 weeks that Hubs was home from the hospital, Bella peed on the same one foot square piece of lawn pretty much every single day several times a day. The lawn has not been mowed and the grass is 4"-6" everywhere except that one square foot piece of lawn that is dead, dead, dead. They’re coming back in a week to return my car, will be here for 4 days then will be training back to Chitown. I’ll replace that one square foot after they leave.

Cookie what is frog bread?

Went to 8:30am mass and brought Holy Communion home to Hubs.
Had gotten out 2 of the Trader Joe’s Almond croissants last night to rise; man did they balloon. Made them along with fried eggs for breakfast for Hubs and self.
Stopped by the trash can meat area yesterday (don’t remember if that’s what FCM called it but hopefully close enough) and found some wagyu ground beef so will be making cheeseburgers for dinner. Checked the back frig last night and we’re out of buns so will be making a quick trip to Kroger this morning. Yikes, it’s 11:53 so if I don’t get a move on, it won’t be morning any more.

Mrs. L.A. usually doesn’t want me to cook breakfast after a big dinner, so she had her yoghurt. I had…

A partial English breakfast.

Jolly Posh Foods had been showing up frequently in my FB feed, and I finally succumbed. I bought bangers, back bacon, black pudding, and haggis. This morning I wiped my large cast-iron frying pan with some Crisco, and arranged one rasher, ons slice of black pudding, and one banger on it. I baked the meats in a 375º Ferret Height oven. When they were done, I put them on a sheet of foil in the oven while I fried a couple of jumbo eggs in the same pan.

Black pudding is hard to find. The last time I had it was at Ye Olde King’s Head when I lived in L.A. The slice I had this morning was good, but more bland than I remember. The banger was good. The back bacon was good. Mrs. L.A. tried a bite of the bacon and thought it was salty. I thought it was less salty than stringy bacon. Goo liked it.

All in all, I had a good breakfast. Even without a fried tomato, sautéed mushrooms, beans, and toast.

French toast. Eggs are either strangled or frizzled. It’s all part of my delightfully quirky sense of humor, doncha know. My wife keeps telling me to enter my French toast in a cooking contest.

The wife got us in for COVID boosters today. It’s become a twice-a-year thing.

The Smalls heaving went fine. Then I got sent to the 200 Table.
Screaming O: “Why are you on the 200 Table”
Me: “that’s where they told me to go.”
Screaming O: “When I said 200 Table, I meant 100 Slide”
Me:
But not too bad of a cleanup, considering I had Deb and Hazardous Ken to help.

If high school was the peak of my life, I’d be guzzling a handle of gin a day.

 :birthday: :champagne: :soccer:HAPPY BIRTHDAY METALMOUSE!!! :soccer: :champagne: :birthday::partying_face:

“Used Meat”

If the eggs are strangled, is the chicken is choked?

Afternoon, mumpers! Just a drive-by today as I am away for the weekend with friends.

Happy birthday, metal mouse, hope you had a hun day!

hippie sending you hugs and strength, I hope the next news is good.

Off for Lebanese food now!

I call it the Buy It Before It Rots bin.

ooooooooh. makes sense if you think about it.

yum, yum, yum. I should have stopped after Kroger. I like to call Sammy at Sahara Restaurant and order a Shish Kafta sandwich just as I’m getting in line to check out. But forgot today. Shucks. Hope you had some yummy food. Please describe so I can vicariously enjoy.

Took care of the fish tank (scraped, added algaefix, checked the pH, it was ok so didn’t need to add pH Up, added water then filled a pail with water for next time and put conditioner in it) then Krogered. Made turkey sandwich and heated Ham w/ Bean soup for Hubs. Also washed then vinegared blueberries for him to eat with angel food cake.

Have a rant about Kroger. (I know there’s a rant thread somewhere but I really only post in MMP and Celebrity Death Pool, extremely infrequently anywhere else.) Anyway, our daughter loves Dave’s Killer Bread. And now she’s got Hubs on the DKB bandwagon. It’s twice as expensive as the bread that I normally buy (Private Selection Whole Wheat) so I generally only buy DKB when it’s on sale so it’s only 167% of the PSWW bread. Well, DKB was on sale in last week’s circular so I went last week Friday but there wasn’t any on the shelf, went again on Tuesday and again, none on shelf so I got a raincheck (Kroger sales are over on Tuesdays). Well, this week’s circular still has DKB on sale. Went yesterday; none on shelf, just got back from Kroger and for the 4th freaking time in 9 days, NO DAVE’S KILLER BREAD on the shelf. Aaaaaaargh! If you’re going to advertise a product, be sure it’s on the shelf within a reasonable time!!! I can understand it being out one day, but not 4 days in a 9 day period. The blueberries are also on sale and were out of stock yesterday but on shelf today. I guess I should take the small win except that the blueberries are for me and being me (like my Mom), I’d rather get the products that my family likes rather than something for myself.

Need to swiffer Hub’s room, change sheets and dust then do some laundry so TTYL.

The new barn door for the bathroom has been hung, and the old door has been taken outside with a FREE sign on it. Of course we lost the towel hook that hung on the old door, and the 4-post ‘coat rack’ that was beside the door that held my Coleman lantern and other stuff.

Mrs. L.A. did not use the diagonal pieces on the door. I’m going to use them to make a ‘hatch’ to get to the shower/tub plumbing.

hippie, it’s a shock to get a cancer diagnosis, but there are tons of resources out there. There’s a really long thread specifically about prostate cancer it that was started in 2017 but continues to be updated. There are loads of treatment options, and many people are able to get good results from relatively noninvasive treatments. I’ll keep a good thought!

CatGlove, I’m glad to hear your hubs is getting some strength back. That’s a respectable distance for him to walk.

shoe, we have a locally beloved pizza place here that doesn’t deliver. We order online, and when I go to pick it up, I choose drive-through or lobby based on the length of line (and whether I put on actual shoes and a bra before hopping in the car). I’ve never changed my mind midstream, so to speak!

Happy birthday, MetalMouse!! :boom: :birthday:

cookie, I’ve got my fingers crossed for your missus’ PT. My exercises have helped relieve my sciatica, at least a bit, and I hope hers will help her.

My FIL got to be a little like this in his last year. His health had declined so that he couldn’t make reliable plans anymore, and then the pandemic severely curtailed his social life. It seemed to me that he felt a little lost without an externally imposed schedule, and he hated sleeping during the day, no matter how tired he was.

And to you as well!

So I apparently spend less time online as the week progresses - not necessarily a bad thing, but I’m getting to the point where one single errand or task takes up the entire day. Where does the time go??

Afternoon all. Thanks for the birthday wishes, it has been a…not uneventful day. Already mentioned the mouse I transplanted 2 miles away, then coached my Under 8 girls to their first win of the season. Then at 9:30am we started the Under-10 but before we had gone too far there was thunder and finally lightning so we cleared the field quickly before the deluge started and cancelled the game (we’ll pick it up Monday, our teams practice together then). So of course as soon as I got home, the weather turned nice again and the Parks Department kept the fields open, so I refereed a Under-10 game at 12:30pm. At halftime my kidney was sending critical alerts to my brain, so I trotted/plodded down to the restroom for relief and while trotting back to the field…I tripped and fell. Fortunately I felt myself going so was able to fall into it and roll, so except for a skinned knee, a sore hand and a couple pulled muscles, I was fine and finished the game. Home now and just signed up for a Under-12 Girls game 20 miles away because that’s the way I celebrate my birthday…

doggio, and least you didn’t try to scroll down with his nose…

Nettie, a smoking toaster is not a good thing; glad there was no damage.

JtC, I think you and Hubs have a good plan for GG.

shoe, interesting clientele you have there. The drive-in guy sounds like the Reverend Jim from the old TV show Taxi.

FCM, I’m getting my new glasses from the Optical place I go for my exam, they’ve been good for the past few times, but 1-2 times I’ve used Wal-Mart and been satisfied with the product. And sometimes we just get into a habit without even thinking about it.

Coppertone, I think I’m going to ask my Doc to schedule me a colonoscopy this year, hope you can get things worked out.

Well, damm, you’re right!

Taters, happy plant and dog-bathing day.

Cat Glove, I will consider your idea, but knowing me I’ll paint half the kitchen before the mouse. ANd never bought Dave’s Killer bread, my special bread is Lewis Hearty Rye and I can usually get that anytime at Kroger.

Well, according to this guy… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2nNzNo_Xps

Dr. Who reference-18 seconds

Ok , need to attend to bathroom needs and head out for the 4pm game. See you all in a bit.
