(Old) It's the heat AND the humidity in the MMP!

No correction needed. Both jetbridges had been pulled away. Not sure where the technician got on, but the captain specifically mentioned waiting for stairs.

I keep a can of Aquanet in the house just for drenching flies.

Morning all. A nice looking morning, but the chance for afternoon tunder-boomers is up to 70%, so if I’m going to get out of the house today it’ll probably be early. Nothing much on the agenda, the kitchen could stand some cleaning/mopping, which I’ll do…maybe. Might also do my calorie pedaling at the gym today, since mowage is planned for tomorrow’s workout.

MG, good to see you about the MMP. Take care now.

FCM, rash is probably nothing (old guys stick together), but if it persists you should to. And I’ve done the open garage trick too on occasion; so far nothing has invaded the space.

Sensei, you and son have a lot more patience than I do regarding flies. Haven’t seen many indoors this season, thankfully.

nellie, love your description of the MRI, and also your choice of Credence for the background music.

And thus are the differences of women and men defined…

Very quickly, Fox Mulder was a character on the popular TV show X-Files and War of the Coprophages was an episode of the show. Got that from Wikipedia, as I never watched the blasted thing.

OK, have broken fast so need to get about the day. Take care all.

Good morning.

It’s currently a very cloudy 58F outside, but the clouds should burn off around noonish and the expected high is 80F. Again, I don’t mind the clouds too awfully much right now.

I am trying to finish my coffee to make myself presentable for the public and head on out to Home Depot, Lowes, and the nursery. I will probably spend way more money than I should, but it’s not like a spend a ton of money elsewhere.

I bought a tower fan for my WFH office, and it arrived yesterday. It’s very quiet and works very nicely. Of course, the real test will come when it blazing hot up there. Seriously you can’t even hear it running on the first two settings (there are six).

I told Mr. Taters about the kids’ flyout date. He was both pissed and sad. I knew I had to tell him because if he knew that I found and didn’t share, it would have hurt him.

I have to try and get ahold of the public utility about my water bill. We had a new meter installed a couple/three months ago, I guess. They also changed the billing cycle to monthly. What I have noted with my last two bills is that they are around the same amount as a two-month cycle (which is how I was previously billed). My water usage is actually less (I checked the usage). There was a water rate increase, but four percent does not equate to what is showing up on my bill. I am missing something here, so I want to talk to them. It’s always something…

Welp, that’s about it for now. I read but retained little. I’m super tired, but can’t stay in bed because I feel like I’m wasting precious time. It’s a conundrum.

Yawn. Might as well get up and eat some stuff and do some stuff. Pollen continues to drop slightly, hallelujah. We need to empty and disassemble garage shelves so a guy can repair the drywall tomorrow. Various other tasks could be done. If it’s not too hot, I’ll weed some more. My lovely wife will go to the farmers market. My lovely cat will lie in a stupor in the sun.

Since 's Rewards can no longer be redeemed for cash, I’ve ordered a new kayak for delivery to my local store.

I’ve been wanting a sit-inside kayak for paddling in colder weather (you’re always sitting in water on my sit-on-top), so I may as well get one before my Rewards expire. After taxes, I still owed almost $30. I paid that with my credit union credit card, and not my REI Rewards Mastercard.

Happy Saturday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. After that, I’ll finish up the Friday chores, drop things off at the postal box and pick up a prescription. I’ll likely take Nelson with me, since Tar-jay is OK with him riding around in the baby seat of my buggy (he even gets fussed over at the pharmacy).

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

‘Since REI’s Rewards…’

Happy Saturday!

Right now I’m half-listening to an NAACP meeting. It’s for the committee I’ve been a member of for the past three years, but which I’m leaving next month because the committee I started chairing this year is taking up more of my time than expected. I was on-camera when the meeting started at 11:00am, but for the last ~45 min they’ve been discussing details of active discrimination complaints that have been filed with our branch – which I stopped being involved with a long time ago – so I turned off the camera and am doing other stuff. It’s currently 12:45pm, and the meeting should be ending soon.

Otherwise I have no plans today, and am pretty happy about it. I’ll run out to the grocery store as soon as this meeting ends, though, because (a) I need bananas and (b) I met with my bariatric center’s nurse practitioner on Thursday afternoon to go over my recent labs, and she wants me to start taking vitamin D so I need to go get some. I also think I want to start snacking on veggies – I’ve gotten a little carried away with snacking on baked goods, and need to make some changes – so I’ll get some baby carrots and light ranch dressing. It’s been a favorite combo for me off and on over the years, but the last time I got them I wound up not eating any; I’ll see how it goes this time.

Tomorrow is Kennedy Center day! Woo hoo! I’m still super sad that the onsite Roof Terrace Restaurant changed their Sunday brunch: it used to be a fabulous self-serve buffet but during/after the pandemic it switched to a menu with table service and has stayed that way, and it’s just not the same (the selection is meh). My theater buddy and I tend to prefer Sunday matinees, and we used to love doing brunch there before a show. Now we’re planning to meet for lunch at the onsite KC Cafe, which is cafeteria-style casual dining with pre-made sandwiches and salads, etc. It gets the job done. The Kennedy Center sits kind of on its own, not walking distance from anything and also not near a Metro station, so for convenience (and better parking) it’s much easier to eat there before a show (if you want to meet for lunch before the show).

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Have fun! Lion King? Or is this the 1776 gender-bender?

The latter. I’m really hoping it doesn’t suck.

I agree, kidney stone is the very worst pain! They gave me morphine. Aaaaaaaah, R E L I E F!!!

Vroom Yay on the apt approval :tada:

oopsie looking forward to review of 1776. Enjoy.

Not very motivated today. Need to go to Kroger; it’s raining. Two weeks ago it was raining when I first went to Kroger and it had stopped when I came out so I didn’t use my umbrella on the way out. I think I left it on the cart handle as I haven’t seen it since. I hope whoever found it is enjoying using it as it was the best umbrella I ever had. Perhaps I need to watch Shawshank so I can get motivated to Get Busy Living.

That link goes to a geneological history of Brookfield, Mass in the 1600-1700s. Fascinating stuff to be sure, but Olive Garden dates from 1982 in Orlando.

Back when I had such a garage door every now and then we’d find it’d been left open. We always assumed we’d just forgotten to push the button to close it.

We later tumbled to the fact it was found open a lot more often than we could credibly be forgetting to close it. So we decided to push the button then wait there and watch it until it got fully down and the machinery stopped instead of pushing the button and immediately going inside.

Didn’t take long to realize that maybe 1 of every 20 closings it would get to within an inch of the bottom then reverse and open fully. Had we gone inside earlier we’d have been none the wiser. Some cleaning and lubricating of the very ends of the top and side tracks solved that problem.

Bottom line being you might want to check to make sure the problem isn’t the door before assuming it’s you.

As to me …

The Olive Garden last night was pitiful as always. TV dinners for $20. Wine that’s $10/bottle at the grocery store for $10/small glass at the restaurant.

The ex-husband was always a big Italian personality, the kind who always messes with the waiter but in good spirits. Now he’s getting sorta senile and his inhibitions are fading fast. He also watches a bit to much RW TV, and throws out some of their talking points as if they are facts. Not cringeworthy yet, but a bit awkward.

Her Ladyship and I do not agree on the correct response to RW spoutery. She is far more concerned with the etiquette of agreeability whereas I am far more interested in ensuring the spouter knows their spew is not being unanimously accepted by their audience. Delivered politely but firmly and with due allowance for senility.

Stayed up a bit too late, so slept in a bit too much. So missed my dawn at the beach. Now early afternoon it’s thundering continuously and raining intermittently. Meanwhile Dopering continues apace.

I keep hearing the rattling of metal ladders getting dragged around, but so far, no painters. They were supposed to be here either Wednesday, Thursday, or yesterday. They’re not quite halfway through all the buildings. After they get done with the trim, the painting starts. I feel bad for the painters, as there are only 3 of them doing all that work, but this is taking way too long. I’m putting my plants back out there tomorrow, come what may. So there.

Whoa! That’s amazing. I’ve read that an MRI is the same decibel level as a jackhammer, so I’ve always assumed the headphones were supposed to protect your hearing. I’ve had 6-7 MRI’s, and I’ve always been given headphones. I didn’t know you could refuse them. Once I had one for a torn calf muscle, and I not only got headphones, I got to watch Andy Griffith on a little screen above the machine!

FCM, hope FCD’s rash clears up pronto.

Taters, I hope the water bill gets sorted. You and Metal Mouse could form a support group.

Red, I bet Nelson is cute in the cart buggy!

I don’t experience it as anywhere near jackhammer levels–interesting!

Proof that you really ARE Wonder Woman!

If IRC, he started on an antibiotic recently for an UTI. A rash like that could be a sequelae of antibiotic use. If he will let you, take a picture of the rash and note the specifics of the antibiotic (name, strength, length of treatment, what day of antibiotic course the rash appeared)to tell any providers about the next time they want to treat him with an antibiotic. If it is a reaction to this antibiotic, the next time he takes it, the reaction could be much worse. If he is in any respiratory distress in addition to the rash, get him to urgent care whether he wants to or not, wheezes, shortness of breath on exertion, etc. If it is just the rash is uncomfortable, dose him with over the counter diphenhydramine. Make a note in your phone what the antibiotic is-consider telling your pharmacist about this rash reaction, for his drug allergy file.

Or course it maybe his skin decided to react to your laundry detergent out of the blue or maybe he was in contact with some cleaning chemical while he was doing engineering volunteering at daughter’s school.

And I thought that was just my weak sister computer skills.

It was indeed an X-Files joke. Mulder (the nutty conspiracy-theorist one) gives a speech about how some of his fear/fascination with aliens traces back to a frightening childhood experience with a praying mantis.

I know it was me. I always wait to see that it closes when I close it - learned that lesson when something stopped the door and it went back up automatically.

That’s what he did. No problems other than the rash, and the antibiotic he’s taking is one he’s not taken before. He’s been on it a week or so - only a couple of doses left. But I will mention the connection to the meds.

He also suspected it might have been that he was all sweaty at Daughter’s school and as old as the building is, who knows what’s in the air… :open_mouth:

We had a late lunch at Texas Roadhouse and came back by way of Wawa to get some tickets for tonight’s Powerball. (Fingers crossed) As we got to our neighborhood, 2 firetrucks pulled in, and a rescue truck just rumbled past. It’s pouring like crazy - those poor guys, not to mention whoever’s house is in distress…

FCD just went back to snooze. I think I want some recliner time,
