(Old) Laundry Day in the MMP

It is SO nice to get home from irk 10 hours after departure instead of 13 hours. It’s also very nice to work with a sup who likes and appreciates me, and treats me like an intelligent adult who can be trusted to make reasonable decisions. Sure, right now it’s a temp gig, but the bunch I work for (our local low-income housing agency) seems very prone to keeping temps and making them permanent, and I can see myself contentedly working there for quite some time to come.

Now to get DH irking. (sigh)

Still trying to figure out why the utility payment (water/sewer/trash) that’s normally included in my rent auto-pay wasn’t this month. Complex manager got a slightly uncheerful email from me about the note on the door on this topic that included a late fee. Manager responded that I am not in fact being charged said ridiculous fee, so I asked her why said note included it (haven’t heard back on that yet). Will send DH to the office tomorrow with a check to cover said utilities.

Nah, this here is the finest hemlock bark mulch, for the Sunset-style meandering paths in the tiny yard.

And some of us like getting deals on clothing donated to thrift stores… sheesh, not everything is disposable! :yum:

We got some pool time before the storm rolled thru. Nice supper and now we’re trying to get the kids to sleep. FCD has been in thr ER most of the day for himself and his mom. More tomorrow when I know more. Good thoughts appreciated…

I like to repurpose things I get from thrift stores. Back when I was working, I got all of my working clothes at Goodwill, but nowadays I just buy beat up towels and blankets to donate to the local dawg shelter. I understand that puppies go through that sort of thing like nobodies business. I also like to buy beat up leather stuff and turn it into keychains and purses for my BFF to sell at their events.

I am SO happy for you!!!

Is this perhaps a government gig? Like with bennies if you get hired on perm? Fingers are crossed for you.

You don’t know lazy if you haven’t at least considered such a thing! High protein, low carb, probably pretty close to what Flyboy eats. I’ll bet the primate food is much better nowadays, I might get some for my next road trip.

Happy Moonday!

I wish I could say it has been a busy day. I had a lot to do but I slept most of the day. I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn’t get back to sleep. No matter what position I was in, something was hurting. I’ve started waking up to my feet hanging off the bed, which makes my feet swell and is very uncomfortable.

There was a little paperirk and transferring of funds re the house.
I opened the TD Ameritrade account, just one in both of our names. I hope it won’t be a problem.
When my son turned 18, he was owed one more SS check. SS told me it had to be deposited into an account in his name. I added him to my account, but SS wouldn’t direct deposit it, so we got a paper check.
I hope it’s not going to be a problem with the stock transfers.

We had horrible storms this afternoon, thunder, lightning, rain, wind, hail. My son was a bit worried. I slept through it. My son said the pups got up once and wanted to go outside, took one look and came back inside.

Shoe, the food at Sonic may have been awful, but the lemonade was worth another trip.

FlyBoy, the house is new to me, but not new.
If we took every penny of the inheritance and the equity in this house, we could afford a new house. I don’t want to do that. I want to keep it easy.

Moonday is my pay bill day. I also try to schedule doctor appointments, run errands, and stuff on Moonday. It’s the only weekday my son has off, so the best day for him to be home with the dogs, or go with me. He has Friday off, but that is getting off at 7am after working a 12-hour shift.
When I was better organized, Moonday was also clean the kitchen and powder room day.

Just a quick drop in to say that I live and my kids are starting school tomorrow. How can CtE be a senior? And how can BtY be a freshman? I’ll be up early to take them in to school.

And now I should get some sleep myself. I’m just really, really brain dead.

Spot let me sleep, so I had a good nap. I had an Old Fashioned, burger, fries, and beer. I like this vacation thing.

Wow. All my lease and payment stuff is electronic. I’ve never even seen the Property Manager(who is actually at one of the other properties).

Good luck to Da Yutes! and go to bed!

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 13c/55f with a predicted high of 18c/64f and cloudy. Weather app says “It’s overcast from where you’re sitting but if you were in a fucking plane, you could say it’s fucking undercast.” Weather app is right, it’s definitely cloudy, and quite cool too. I have already ventured outside to haul the biiiiiiig recycling bin out for this morning’s collection. Verily, the bells of Bacchus shall be rung!

Sari forgot to congratulate you on the house news! I hope everything goes smoothly - looks like you’ve already had good advice on the account. I think it’s an excellent idea to open one for this business and then close it again immediately, especially if you don’t want your family having the chance to abuse the account.

Seanette I’m so glad you have found a job where you’re appreciated and treated like a responsible adult!

Hivemind Welcome to the party

Red hope you get management sorted out quickly before they become a real pain in the backside.

Nothing exciting going on around here, I cooked last night (baked chicken booby stuffed with feta, pesto and roasted peppers and served with bulgar wheat and green beans), watched the last episode of The Witcher and was in bed at a reasonable hour.

Today, I have a couple of meetings this morning but nothing to get worked up about. I managed to slope off to the gym yesterday lunchtime for a sneaky workout, might do a Rockfit session at home today. Grocery shopping tonight, and food prep for the next couple of days on campus. Fun times…

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 78 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 96 and N.O.S. with a heat advisory in effect all day. I am considerin’ mowage this mornin’, but am at the we shall see stage as I post. I suppose I could mow either the front or the back yahd today and do the other tomorrow. Also, it’s laundry day in da cave. I can hardly contain my excitatement. Whether I motivate to mow or not, I foresee a day of high sloth and stayin’ in the a/c. Sup shall be boxed lasagna (don’t judge!), sallit, and cheesey garlic bread.

red hope the management thing is figured out without the need to bring in JtC and the PSWSLNS. Also, nettie hope the utility payment gets sorted out without the need for JtC and the PSWSLNS.

RealFish hope you got some sleep and that the young’uns have a great skool year.

Oopsie hope you survived the storm power intact.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Well, I hope I never have to sleep with Roxy again. Feet, elbows, even her head… all night long. Plus the bed was uncomfortable and I was worrying about FCD and MIL.

I did text with him briefly just after 11 - he was home. We’ll talk later when he gets up. This was the wrong day to go to the aquarium. At least we didn’t lose power in the storm.

I’m about to dress and gas up the car where I can get a diet coke. Mom doesn’t keep any, can you imagine??

So, yeah, Happy Tuesday. Rah.

Today the patio door is getting replaced. I haven’t opened it i years because I’m convinced it won’t close or worse, fall apart. After this I can work on setting up the flooring install. Life is a barrel of………fill in the blank.

Morning all. Got the requisite 8 hours in slumberland so should be ready to face the day…which, if the Weather Wizards aren’t kidding, should only be in the low 80’sF and less than a 1-in-6 chance of rain, so soccer practice for the Horde (120+ 10/11 year old boys) should take place. Nothing much on the agenda, will try to get to the gym for some pedaling, otherwise muck about the house.

Seanette, hope things keep going well; and a supervisor like that is gold. Keep after the Complex manager, something’s screwy there.

Sent, along with hugs and crossed fingers.

Sari, hoping things work as planned; looks like a lot of Mumpers got bad weather yesterday.

Real Fish, they do grow up fast, don’t they? Best wishes to all on Day 1 (School started August 3rd here).

I’ve done that before, but often I get one part done and just say ‘to heck with it’ and do the rest. Stay cool.

Wet one, congrats on the new patio door. And I thought life was a box of chocolates..

Brother and SIL still live in the area and I was there from 1985-1997. And I did enjoy my time there, but my paycheck moved to N. Ali-bama and I had become rather fond of that paycheck…

OK, need to break my fast and maybe even shave. Take care all.

Perhaps you two could trade:

Oh yes! It’s amazing how often folks react to impending or actual crisis by not eating, not sleeping, or both. Taking hard knocks are so much easier on a full tummy if possible.

What’s in STL for you if I may ask? My 20 years there were roughly the prime of my life and a great time overall.

Yaay!! It always amazes me how many “managers” do their damnednest to drive away the good workers and keep the useless schlubs. Looks like you’ve found one of the rare gems. And closer to home! Fingers crossed!!

I too donate my cast-offs, nearly all of them.

But as has been addressed in many, many threads on de-cluttering, when one is way behind and is facing dumpster-scale piles of aging stuff, agonizing over which can be donated to who/what, which recycled, which repurposed and how, and which must be oh-so-reluctantly trashed can be a total motivation-sapper and therefore show-stopper.

Dear @Beesnest said they were facing a vast and long-neglected pile. Which is often evidence of a psychological Gordian Knot that is best untied with a single swing of a mighty sword, not 10,000 painstaking tugs at peripheral threads.

Perhaps I misread them. Perhaps not. We shall see.

It probably will be, especially if your transferring stocks or mutual funds, not raw cash.

Moving assets meant for one person into a joint account amounts to splitting the ownership of those assets to both. While you’re free to do that on your own later, the brokerages aren’t willing to do that in the course of a simple transfer. I’ve even had problems transferring assets between accounts registered as “LSL Guy” and “LSL MiddleName Guy”. If they’re not certain the person/people at both ends are exactly identical, it ain’t gonna happen. Probably.

Just as you saw with the SS check.

Good luck and I hope it works the first time, but color me less than optimistic for you.

Yaay for alive!! I thought perhaps you’d run off with a circus or something. I can’t imagine the flail getting those two challenging cases ready for another school year. Must’ve been epic.

I recall a number of family visits years ago where an entourage of 4 showed up at my place. Each drank only one kind of soda, all different. Compromise was not possible. My late first wife and I drank no soda. Off to the store feeling weird buying four different 24-packs of soda and trying to stuff an appropriate number of each flavor into a fridge already loaded with groceries for the impending Feastes.

As to me:
Had a long and good night’s sleep by starting early and resisting the temptation for an additional glass of wine once home from dinner. Awoke a bit too late & lazy to bother beaching. So instead the morning is spent w y’all and the rest of my email & Dopers.

I’m on-call now and will be through Fri. I went to bed with a long list of people ahead of me on the priority list. Most of whom have been used. So I’m not next-to-go, but it’s close. Almost certainly starting irking tomorrow unless instead I’m starting irking today.

Already been chased inside from balconating by the lack of breeze and humidity and traffic noise. Not so much the heat, but we’ll have bunches of that later too: presently 85/29 on the way to 95/36.

Cheers & Happy Healthy Tuesday to all!!

Oh mama it’s noisy at casa de Wetone. I carried Ursala Kitteh upstairs and she is NOT happy. The guys are ripping out the old door and using pneumatic tools. And their boom box is going. Now they are sawing the door frame. I think I will join Ursala Kitteh….

Mornin’, y’all.

It’s 62F and mostly cloudy, with an expected high of 82F and mostly cloudy to partly cloudy skies. It was humid yesterday, and it’s somewhat humid today too.

I’ll leave in a little over an hour to take my Jeep in for its’ overdue oil change, etc. I’m usually pretty good about keeping on schedule, but time just got away from me with work, travel, etc. At any rate, it’ll get completed today.

I’ll probably wander after the service since I’ll be out and about anyway.

I need to replace my patio door too. The seal broke on slide side, so the glass is cloudy. I know it won’t be inexpensive, especially since I want a built-in pet door on the stationary side of the slider. That stupid pet door insert screwed up my slider in the first place. I didn’t want one of those, but some friends thought they were doing me a favor when they gave it to me. I felt like a jerk for not wanting that gift, and we installed it. I’ve regretted it ever since. The gap between the slider and the pet door insert is narrow, making it a pain to get in and out, and it’s always drafty there in the winter. Anyway, I need to replace that slider, but I’m not looking forward to the expense.

I’m glad you like your new working gig, seanette! I hope you get to stay.

Some Stellar Jays are very unhappy and have been screeching for quite some time. I’ll have to step outside and see what’s up.

Okay, time to get on with the day. Places to go, things to do, and another day will be gone.

Cool that through the magic of simulposting and later editing you could answer my question before I’d asked it.

1994-2014 for me, and likewise my paycheck moved away from STL and, like a donkey following a carrot on a stick, I chased it to SoFL. Someday I’ll catch that carrot, I’m sure of it.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. It’s International Cat Day, and Spot is celebrating by running amok, knocking things off tables, and almost having his first hairball. We had a storm last night, no power loss, but something worse. [Foreboding voice]The Interwebs went out[/Forboding Voice]
I need to decide what flavor of sloth to partake in today.

Sending extra good thoughts.

Morning, all! Both kids are officially dropped off for their first day of school. It did my heart wonders to see my two teens walking across the road and into the school together. Now I should be cleaning, but between lack of sleep last night and back spasms today, I think resting with a flexeril is the better way to go. Plus, I’ll be resting my poor hands. Carpal in both hands is far from fun and trying to type with braces on both hands is a pita. So I’m probably going to be on minimal posting until my hands get better.

hugs to all, along with yays, boos and way to gos

Greeting from the Aquarium! We’re taking a cookie break before climbing to the Rainforest. Once we’ve seen it all, we’ll find a place to stop for lunch.

But I am exhausted!!

Tough night. Slept wrong on the knee and woke up in some nasty pain. Shit happens. Managed to make a bagel for my loving spouse this morning, though. Altering my diet to be more friendly; fruits, veggies, lean meat, no coffee/tea/dairy. Gotta get the gut in order.

I think I’m going to resume the exercise classes, despite the doctor telling me to just focus on the knee. I feel like I’m losing muscle mass and strength, which is not a good thing. Down about 20 pounds from pre-surgery weight.

Sorry for the whines, y’all. I appreciate the kind words.
