(Old) Laundry Day in the MMP

Hey all! Today was not great, there were thunderboomers and no rain. At least it is down to 87F at 2000 which is helpful.

I want more shade and so I have been looking at having more trees planted. Hubs, who hates plants of any sort is of course very resistant to the idea because it will cost money and then trees would happen. It is going to happen no matter how much he complains, so I think I will just let the tree guys into the yard and not say anything to him. He will be busy staring at his computer screen and won’t notice.

The bigger issue is our garbage disposal. It has been acting flacky for a while and today it finally gave up the ghost.

We have done a lot for BFF, hubs and kids over the years and she has said that it makes her happy to be able to do things for us back. Her hub is a professional plumber who has already told me that replacing a garbage disposal is an easy in and out job, so he would come over and replace our flacky one whenever we ask.

Hubs thinks that asking a friend to do something they get paid to do every day is rude AF because said friends are usually work so hard doing the thing that they don’t even want to think about it during their precious free time.

I can remember when we had older friends who would do things for us all the time and we rarely were able to do things for them and how much that bothered me. (as it happened, we were able to pay it back after they went into their nursing home and their kids rarely visited, but I certainly didn’t know that would happen all those years ago)

Stops grumbling.

You need a good waterbed. Get a soft side one with good baffles and it will adjust as you move. You can also pull up the bottom of the mattress pad so you can put your hot feet on a cold water bag.

Do you have a gallon jar? If so, obtain 4 or 5 lemons, wash them good and then squeeze out the juice. Put that in the fridge. Put the peels in the jar and add a cup of sugar. Put the lid on the jar and shake it around until the rinds are sugar coated. Leave it on the counter and go and do other things for a few hours. This will allow the rinds to release those lovely lemon oils which really makes a difference.

When you are ready to finish it up, put a few cups of water in the nuke and heat it to boiling (or use a pan, up to you) then pour it over the sugar peels and shake the jar around again to get every thing liquid.

Add the juice along with enough water and ice to fill the jar and enjoy.

I know this sounds like a whole bunch of work, but mostly you just do it as you walk by. I am super lazy but I like being able to impress while sitting around and smoking weed.

OMG, a bat is hanging right outside the window and GG is going nutz. I’m sure the cute little thing will move on soon, but so much cute!!!

I saw a bumper sticker today with the Ukrainian flag and some Cyrillic text. Unfortunately, I don’t remember the text. It was bOR__nAB (Roman approximation) with two letters missing.

The bat is gone. GG is still staring around the window and VBC is in the catio. I enjoyed that cute lil face looking in without moving until it went back to the 4 o’clocks.

That was a super special few seconds.

Totally agrees. I’m also hoping they aren’t the sort of people who take antibiotics until they feel better and then save the rest for later.

Did you get him some opposable thumbs so he could open it by himself?

I did, I missed you so much!!!

SAY WHAT!!!

We had that happen too! Well, not the ceiling caving in, but the floor had started to buckle and it was a real mess.

He’s working on it. Unlike the last 12 pets, he has working brain cells and energy.

Swampy’s gay? :open_mouth:
We missed you

MIL is. Because she knows better than all doctors… FCD will take all his meds. Oh yes he will.

Dunno why I woke after less than 4 hours of sleep. Back to Dreamland with me. ZZZZZZZZZZZZ

I ran the ovens again tonight! Coupla hours at the beginning of the shift, and then again at the end of the night.
Can’t remember if I told y’all or not, but I burnt the shit out of my arm last Sunday - like blistering, had to be wrapped/covered for days; it was bad - so I frankly was intimidated by those damn ovens again. And then irritated with myself for being a scaredy-cat.

Anyway, I got over my bad self and got back on that horse tonight, until I got exhausted & overwhelmed and had to tap out.
I don’t know how the resident experts run those things for hours and hours on end. It’s not even the heat, so much; the muscles in my hands are incredibly sore.

Then again, I can run the fryers all night long, and I can run 10-hour shifts at the drive-thru window and sound just as friendly at the end (provided you’re not an asshole to me, obvs) so I guess it’s just a matter of experience.

I’m still a total noob & quite slow, plus I can only run 2 at a time - more and I get overwhelmed - which means my limit is 4, maayyyyyybe 5 pizzas at a time.
We have to be having a slow night for that kind of pace - which we most definitely were tonight. (We had absolutely no orders for about half an hour, and I joked, “Look at meeee, lookit all the oven experience I’m getting!”)

Was supposed to be early-out but my manager felt (and looked) ill so I closed for her tonight. Home now, quite tired, but my oven is on & I have some rolls toasting to eat with cheese, plus whatever else looks good.
Tossed Monkey some treats, so he’ll live.

Ah, oven timer just went off. Snack time!

It’s amazing what a good sleep will do for a body. I was a mess last night, but I feel human this morning. No weird dreams, no bladder urgencies, just unconsciousness, except for that one waking to discover FCD was still watching TV. I guess I’m ready for a day with the kids.

Speaking of antibiotics, a certain spousal unit didn’t read his discharge instructions that said take the meds every 8 hours. He assumed it was “twice a day” - so for the first day, he missed a third of his meds. I set the schedule for him last night, which mean in an hour if he’s not up, I need to wake him and give him drugs. I’m pretty sure he didn’t heed my advice to set an alarm on his phone to remind him. At least it’s just for a week (I hope).

He said the place that they drained on his belly is doing lots better, for whatever reason, they didn’t drain the ones on his leg, and for some reason, he didn’t ask why. Sheesh. But our family doc told him to apply damp, hot compresses to the spots on his leg - we’ll see if that helps.

Did I mention his mom suffered for 4 days before consulting the CNA at her apartment complex? At that point, she was told to go to the ER. Is it any wonder FCD wouldn’t seek help for days?? I swear, those people make me crazeeeee!! Maybe he’ll know better next time.

Anyway, I’ve got the kids today. We won’t be going anywhere other than the back yard. I have laundry to do, which will enhance basement time. Then after I drop them off, I need to swing by CVS for my BP meds. As you see, I have an exciting day ahead.

Happy Wednesday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 94 and partly N.O.S. for the day. Looks like it rained durin’ the night, but I had no clue it did, so must have been really zonked. Normally (well, as normally as we get) we would be goin’ to the Pubic Sto’ to procure provisions this mornin’. However, we don’t need much stuff this week so we shall forgo that. Sonny’s still has their poke deal goin’ on on Hump Day, so we shall do that for today’s main feed and, since we have to go right by :astonished:Wally*Jr. :astonished: we shall go in there to get the few things we need. So, a day of high sloth and general overall uselessness is in store. I can live with that.

Nellie glad you’re back home safe and sound and survived the crashin’ ceilin’. YIKES!

WAIT! WHAT??? I’M WHAT?!?!?!?! It. Just. Never. Gets. Old.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Some sleezebag in FL won my lottery jackpot. Dammit.

Want us to go beat him up for you?

Yeah, and get my ticket back!!! Dammit.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 19c/66f with a predicted high of 22c/72f, and mostly cloudy. Weather app is feeling whimsical today and tells me to “Imagine if you were riding a horse and all that horse wanted to do was eat grass. That’s like this fucking weather. Fucking boring.” Is that a horse impersonating a sloth then?

Mooom sorry to hear about the medical drama, good news about a decent sleep though! What would FCD do without you to make sure he takes his meds on time? And who would dare to swipe your mahooosive lottery win?

nellie good to see you back again, I hope the trip was good despite the collapsing ceiling!

swampy are you gay? You kept that one quiet

Oopsie sorry to hear you are having trainer woes, it’s a shame he’s getting his hours cut somewhere but he shouldn’t be making you feel like you have to compromise to suit him. Can you swap to a different trainer at the same gym? You’re right to stick up for yourself, and what you’ve paid for too.

Cookie you’re not whining, you have some genuine issues there. Now that you know the fatigue is a genuine effect of the surgery, you can work out some gentle exercise that suits you and won’t leave you feeling like you’ve been through the wringer.

On the subject of exercise, the only thing I’m doing today is walking. I’ve got a busy day in the campus office, and I need to walk home from the station via the vets to collect Shadow’s meds. I ordered them on Monday when I called to book him in for a blood test, and they sent a text to say the stuff was ready for collection. The when I get home I’ll have cats to deal with, meal prep for tomorrow and dinner to make for tonight, after which I’m off to the pub with my friends.

Welcome back, nellie!

FCM, if it ain’t one rhing, it’s another.

Morning all. Got about 7.5 hours of sleepage (with one 2am bathroom trip). Need to get the garbage to the curb sometime today, and the lawn needs mowing but it also needs to dry out from the rain we’ve had the last couple of days, so that’s a ‘we’ll see’. Also have swimming and sauna (need to try some new swimmin’ trunks out) and soccer (weather permitting) on the agenda.

Nellie, welcome back!! Even with the bathroom and car disasters, sounds like it was a good time with family.

Pilot, you may want to keep that line handy.

Cat Glove, it was called off for soggy field conditions, but yeah, there are 8-10 of us to do the wrangling. Got 96 8-year olds tonight if the weather holds, that will be another adventure.

FCM, some folks are just stubborn about 'I’m feeling fine"; keep him on the schedule.

JtC, I have a new disposal as mine is making loud and metallic sounds, but don’t have the skills, tools, or flexibility to change it myself and it isn’t broken enough to get somebody over here. One of these days…

shoe, Ouch! on the arm burn, I imagine that’s part of the hazards of the job there.

OK, need to do the Hump Day internetting and then forage for sustenance. All y’all take care.

Up stoopit early as per the usual, due mostly to my nose alternatin’ between stuffy & runny. I wasn’t the only one sneezing repeatedly at work last night, so I guess something is in the air.

Meanwhile, having a hot cuppa and a toasted roll with cheese. I don’t wanna be up, I wanna ne asleep, but hopefully being vertical for a time will help my sinuses drain.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. I did not win the billion dollars either, so there goes my plan to live a life of epic debauchery.

Are they trying to win a Darwin Award or something?

Ouch. Hope it’s better now.

I find a session in a steamy shower helps. Poor baby!

Kids are here. First load in the washer. One or 2 more to go. Counting the minutes till 2:30…

The new patio door is open. Ursala Kitteh is in her paper bag. I did this for you, Miss Kitty!!!

Yikes! I hope it’s healing well.

Yes to both. And we have NuStep machines in our apartment building.
